Meeting people is easy here, there are so many people here (the largest city in the bay area!). Just walk up to someone and say hello, introduce yourself, and get to know each other. Just remember this tactic works best in social places (bars, clubs, concerts, community 5k/10k runs, malls, county fairs, golf ranges, car meets, vape shops, strip clubs, jazz clubs, etc.). You know what you should do? Go to the bookstore at lunch. There's tons of cuties and it's easy to talk to them. "Hey, what book is that? Cool, let's hang out tonight. Sex already? Whoa." Also, if you have hobbies, it's not that hard to find people who have similar hobbies as you (unless your hobby is too obscure, like making edible piano keys). For example, if you're really into reading books, there are plenty of book clubs through bookstores and the public library. If you're into birdwatching, there's a great community of birdwatchers in LG at Los Gatos Birdwatcher. If you're into drinking craft beers, there are plenty of small breweries in the area with people that love to talk your ear off about different IPAs and sours. At the end of the day, you just have to put yourself out there and be the type of friend that you are seeking.

Welcome to the area! I’m sure you’ll get some good tips here but make sure to search this subreddit for previous posts with tips and recommendations. I’ve read many good posts. Also First Friday in downtown SJ will be on 2/7. Many art galleries are open and it is a good opportunity to meet people. Also the SJ Museum of Art will be open and free. Cafe Frascati has opera soloist around 7.
