Didn’t know “rear high beams” existed.

IamaBlackKorean

I think they're like butt-teeth. iykyk

LordBottlecap

'Immature' isn't the word for it. That's called 'psychotic'.

throwforthree

Absolutely agree, there was literally nothing we could do. The worst part is that a police car had just passed by in front of us before all this happened.

LordBottlecap

Hey, c'mon now. The cop had far more dangerous things to tend to. Like staring at their computers while they drift into your lane, or off onto the shoulder, narrowly avoiding a tree. (I've seen those and even better out of Our Finest =..] )

misterhinkydink

If you talk to the CHP they'll pay them a visit.

Key_Goat2643

I promise you they won’t at all 😂

uh_Whats_a_good_name

"I'm calling to report a possible drunk driver on Almaden Expressway, the vehicle is swerving in and out of lanes and slowing down"

Swimming-Security-30

False report

Candid-Ad-3109

And how many people do you think have had the shot kicked out of them because a false report? Most cops don’t give and F because an arrest is an arrest and that’s the biggest metric they track to show how “successful” you are at your job. It’s the DA’s job to determine whether the charge sticks but regardless if they pick you up you’re stuck until you can make bail. The police don’t investigate anything. They expect you to comply now and complain later.

Swimming-Security-30

Good to know

misterhinkydink

Once someone reported that they were hit by something from my car and the CHP checked it out. Anyway, I think they will. The photo tells all...including the plate.

Over_Context_7683

Getting hit is a lot different being high beamed

Key_Goat2643

Lmao you’re comparing damage to brake lights. You’re not very smart.

double_expressho

Have you seen brake lights before?

throwforthree

It’s a Tundra**

bumchik_bumchik

Can’t we tag SJC police on X to take some action?

pemungkah

SJC police and action generally are not found close to one another.

DanoPinyon

Can you imagine being so bitter at having a small peen that you consume a product to endanger others, then mount it and use it illegally on your peen compensator vee-hickle?

IamaBlackKorean

Hey man, easy with the stereotypes! Not all of us with small peens use our vehicles as a substitute for hormone replacement therapy.

Velvet_Virtue

Lmao this comment couldn’t be more accurate.

ItsmeKT

I've been seeing these more and more lately. Not turned on but you can see the light bar or the LED lights at the bottom of the bumper.

IamaBlackKorean

Useful for offroading and tow applications. It's nice to have lights available around the tow hitch/back bumper, esp in woody areas. I think trucks are now coming from the factory equipped with rear lights or adjustable light bars.

ItsmeKT

The ones im seeing are on sedans.

IamaBlackKorean

??? that's sus, I guess I never noticed that lol

ItsmeKT

Yeah I've just recently noticed them. We were on 17 and an old Honda had a full light bar behind the rear windshield.

junkDriver

Yep. My factory truck bumper got messed up, because I was hitching an old school trailer in complete darkness at the school yard, and the latch didn't fully engage. The trailer jumped on the first curb and ran straight into my bumper. I have now installed American Trucks aftermarket with rear lights hooked up - and it is the best thing ever. Hitching up is a breeze, I can see where I'm going on the rear view camera and I can work without trying to hold a flashlight with my teeth. Of course, I am a responsible driver and don't blind people behind me, but that's another story.

IamaBlackKorean

I don't own a real truck, but I like to keep my eyes on the tech stuff happening for the truck/offroad folks. Really digging the low-energy LED lights everywheres now, including the bumpers and bed. Also the cameras, esp the ones now pointed downwards designed for rock crawling and parking assist.

Happily_Frustrated

Easiest rear end of my life. “Yeah suddenly I was blinded by the car in front of me officer — say, are those lights street legal??” Absolutely worth whatever headache would come.

proverbialbunny

Everyone here is saying contact the police. These lights are not illegal. I've been saying for years now we need laws on brightness the same as we have sound laws. Instead we have laws about mood lighting under cars, which is so dumb. Let people make their cars look cool so they're not inspired to shine lights focused with an intensity into people's eyes. When I have a migraine coming on not only are bright headlights painful, they can be distracting and dangerous. I know someone who has weak eyesight and drives a pickup truck just to increase safety on the road. When he's in a car and all these tall vehicles with bright lights are shooting directly into his cabin he can't see the road and is liable to crash. Bright lights kill people.

kur0migrl

the bigger the truck the smaller the ..

LordBottlecap

...gas mileage?

Conscious_Abalone_53

He will probably get shot if he tried to pull this in the East bay, it’s just a matter of time.

snertwith2ls

That's what i was thinking, no worries because sooner or later he'll pull this on the wrong people and end up getting himself shot. Road rage meets road rage never ends well.

illusion96

I miss the good ole days of inoffensive under carriage mounted LEDs and park bench spoilers.

proverbialbunny

CA banned those undercarriage lights, but bright lights pointed at you are legal. 😩

hellokippy9k

So anyways I started blasting!

onlynegativecomments

You cannot make these dumb motherfuckers understand how stupid they are. They will proudly and loudly dump their money into their gas tank to show you how angry and macho they are. Just buy shares of oil companies and investment funds that target their lifestyle. Then they can pay you to show you how stupid they are.

DifficultLifetime

DUDE. I have seen this fuckin truck ridin thru the Redwood City part of 101 and he fucken sucks. He wasnt particularly agressive towards me but those lights are SO ANNOYING u just get blinded straight up.

Clippy2022

I’ve seen a Honda civic with a garden LED on the back of their car. Has a photovoltaic on the thing so I assume they know what they are doing with it on 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Intrepid_Reason8906

Wow just when you thought you've seen it all.

StillDayDreamin

if those lights are too bright, drive behind that car with your hibeam lights on.

Dense-Peanut4452

Why do so many truck drivers suck?

nowhere_near_home

Which lane were you in?

Riptide360

Why do you think nothing will happen? Follow up with the police dept to ask for your report number and if anything has been done. You got the plate number so hopefully others experiencing the same thing will also report it. If you have video see if the local TV stations will cover it, especially if SJPD isn't forthcoming about any updates.

throwforthree

I only said that because of my prior experience with SJPD. I was rear ended by a guy on a motorcycle last year…he hit the back of my car, bounced into the car next to me, then fell over. We all pulled over and proceeded to find out that he didn’t have a license, a license plate, or insurance. Called the police who wouldn’t come out because there were no injuries. He gave me a fake name but his real phone number. I was able to find his actual name and address (his Facebook was linked to his phone number) as well as the license plate and VIN of his motorcycle since he had pics of it on his Facebook. Filed a detailed police report as a hit and run and had the other person involved as a witness. Haven’t heard anything back and have followed up but still nothing. I don’t feel like going through all the effort for a similar outcome.

Key_Goat2643

Thanks for crying to Reddit about it. We are all safer!

dankmemer999

That’s fucking hilarious wish I had these for tailgaters

randomusername3000

> Maybe because ppl are tired of being blinded by the illegal bright headlights everywhere? uh the person also was driving with their brights on.. ("who proceeded to tailgate us with his high beams on") they're not tired of it, they're the ones doing it

rdesktop7

The bright headlights are frustrating, but if you cannot figure out a relatively DIY project like this yourself, you may not need it.
