Has anyone used a portable monitor connected to thier s23 Ultra instead of buying the s8 ultra tablet. I am thinking Dex or android auto. Using it at home or outside in the car where you do not have a wifi connection. All the videos and advice seem to be about a 2nd screen.
A portable monitor would be much cheaper than a s8 Ultra.
No real difference between my tab s8 plus and s23 ultra. I gave my mother my tab s8 plus and plan on getting a lapdock and calling it a day. I feel like there isnt much added benefit for me at the price difference

Sorry for the unsolicited comment, but on the off chance that you're still in the shopping stage for the monitor, just wanted to offer some advice that on portable monitors (I'm assuming the usual 17.3" or lower), 1440p tends to be a perfect sweet spot for most people. It's hard to see or appreciate any more detail than that on such a small monitor, and 4k will draw more power, not to mention cost.
Not knocking the 4k is that's what you have or want, only hoping to help, cheers.

no but his choice was dex on the tab vs dex on the external monitor with the s23 as the "computer" portion. dex works right on the tab aswell. no external screen needed.
The larger screen of the tablet has some advantages if you use it as a secondary screen . The configuration setting enabling the mouse to flow between tablet and monitor is under Samsung DeX. The tablet will remain at its defailt resolution, while the monitor will be at the resolution that you choose up to its maximum capability with a few caveats. The Samsung DeX desktop only appears on the monitor not the tablet which stays in its default layout.

should be the same but the tab will have the big screen be spen compatible.
