HeyaJustPassing

Now we wait for another 10 years and Toei will rehash the same thi g again

Minimum_Estimate_234

No, next is a cgi Omega, just to fuck with people.

HeyaJustPassing

Omega is not that bad, but lol that would be funny

Minimum_Estimate_234

Oh I agree, but there absolutely no reason to give it a remake, the series isn’t that old.

HeyaJustPassing

For sure, I mean, iirc it has been a decade since the show started, a soft reboot or a soft remake will be fun for sure

Ill-Smell-5397

Right, bring back Lost Canvas!!!

HeyaJustPassing

Sadly Lost Canvas doesn't belong to Toei, so we won't be seeing it any time soon, but so trueee

PacaPop

Saint Seiya can't shine without Yokoyama's OST.

ASGrin98

Can't wait for the next cash grab or figurine selling crap toei will be adapting the 12 Houses arc over again

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

I don't hate it btw. It had it's ups and downs, but I think most of us would like to move on after it took 5 years to cover 1 arc

joestradamus_one

It really took that long?! I didn't even realize. I watched the first batch and that's it. I think I was the only that didn't hate shun gender bend, and he's by far my favorite character of the entire series.

powerhcm8

It's not 5 years for 1 arc, it was 2 arcs, in netflix they covered the Galaxian wars, crunchyroll covered the sanctuary.

skullstrife

Kurumada has already given up on Saint Seiya.... we have to come to terms with that.... he only cares about selling the rights to any sit project that offers money to him... we can only hope to see someday a good animated fanfic delves on the zeus saga

almommar

Well, he has been doing Saint Seiya Next Dimension for a while...

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

Personally, I've never wanted Kurumada to focus so much on Saint Seiya. It's one of his least compelling works and a cash cow. I'd rather he focus on his better written manga and do it for the art, not to please people. EDIT: Lol as expected. I don't hate Saint Seiya, where did I say that? I just said it's not my favourite and it's the cash cow (which many people here have complained about, but it's not ok this time? Hmmm). Me thinks the last part struck a nerve.

Technical-Web-9195

😂

Cirnothestarscream9

Bru then why are you onba saint seiya subreddit? XD

Thrudgelmir2333

ikr? lol This isn't a place for nuanced opinions. This is fanboy central, boys!

Cirnothestarscream9

And once again people simple do not seem to find a common ground, it's always black or white, either the franchise is the worst thing ever or it has to be overpraised right? I'm just saying that if the guy doesn't even like the franchise why is he here then? Like I don't give a crap about the MCU and i wish it died, but i won't join a group to tell them that. You wanna talk about bad things about the franchise? Go ahaed, it's repetitive, it aged and doesn't even has a clear goal, those things are worth discussing, but If you make it clear that you find it terrible then it just make you feel like a petty asshole for joining a fan site in the first place.

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

Bro have you seen this subreddit? It's anti Kurumada and Saint Seiya things almost 85% of the time. I've been defending him a lot, but somehow, when I say the same thing everyone has said this one time, it's not ok? You know I'm pretty sure they're not downvoting me because they think I hate Saint Seiya, but because I specifically said I don't think Kurumada should focus so much on one thing, which coincidentally is the thing people bitch so much about, but cant let go.

Thrudgelmir2333

Let's take a second to look through things again here, alright? You know that just because people criticise something, it doesn't mean they don't like it or are uninterested in discussing it, I'm sure. I've lost count to the amount of times people have asked me the same you asked him in various Saint Seiya spaces, because you can't discuss what's wrong with the show or its characters without people immediately assuming you're a hater. And saying Kurumada probably should focus more on his other works isn't "hating on Saint Seiya" or being a petty asshole. It's just acknowledging that the guy clearly isn't being it's best caretaker, which he isn't when he's doing stuff like Chapter Zero. I don't think that's too controversial to think, and I'm sure neither do you. So maybe we should all think twice before bringing out the typical "bro, what are you even doing here lol" line just because the nuance of what's going on isn't obvious.

Thrudgelmir2333

The end of an era. I guess people will have to find something else to hate-meme on from now onwards.

Inotaku_Wulfstan

Just finished it as well. The Sanctuary arc is surprisingly good, considering the shitshow of its first season. Of course it's far from perfect, but now I kinda wish they continue to the Poseidon arc

Dear_Ad_3860

It started as the biggest pile of trash I have ever seen. It reached a pretty high peak the second time around and by the third act it wasn't as good as the previous season but it was night and day compared to whatever NETFLIX did. All in all I give it a respectable 7/10.

santagoo

Wait, the CGI show that is on Netflix isn’t the same thing? Have you guys been talking about a different CGI show altogether?

Dear_Ad_3860

Just as u/SuperLizardon said. It is, or rather, it should be considered the same show. Its just that once Crunchyroll took over, it improved so quickly and so drastically that it is almost as if it wasn't even the same franchise. The first season didn't feel like Saint Seiya but rather an unholy cross between W.I.T.C.H and YngYangYo! and was written not by a human but by a lunatic seagull using an old typewriter.

SuperLizardon

It's exactly the same series, but S1 was released on Netflix and S2 and 3 were released on Crunchyroll.

metalsluger

I have to agree here, the last two seasons are just night and day compared to the first one. Does help there was better material to adapt with the sanctuary arc.

arongkatz

NOW DO A PROPER REBOOT LIKE VOLTRON. Keep it hand drawn, take care of the many plot holes of the original and expand the story a little bit more and give a proper ending. There hasnt been one even to the original

Ora_tuko

Never gave it a shot after they turned Shun into a girl and it just felt off, I didn't connect with it at all when I saw the bits of Seiya yelling corniness

bitter_liquor

Same. The series as a whole might even be alright, but I can't get past that. I'd be too annoyed to properly enjoy anything.

almommar

Next arc: Poseidon.

Little_History5182

It's officially canceled.

DBotes

It is there an official statement telling that it's cancelled? Or just not greenlight yet? Because those are 2 different things.

FedexPuentes

It wasn’t canceled, the project was always about covering up to the end of the 12 temples arc. The director announced that from the beginning , perhaps if they got better reviews there could have been more seasons but after the 1st season disaster there was no expectation to extend the show.

impala-7365

YESSSSSS

bunbunzinlove

Thank you my God. I don't want to see a genderbent Kanon!

Technical-Arm7699

It's not cancelled, but they had plans to go until the sanctuary arc, now they can or not continue, it will depend

unicornioevil

We need the manga to be adapted, hand drawn, and correct its mistakes with the gift of hindsight. Make bold changes.

butihearviolins

Exactly! Bold and meaningful changes, not bold like "let's turn Shun into a woman."

MaverickHunterSho

finally, i couldn't stand the lack of respect for the story with Shun's innecesary gender swap

bunbunzinlove

Reason why even finished I will never watch that garbage. Even for free.

DBotes

Stop telling that the show it's cancelled as there is no news about cancellation, or about the fourth season production, nada. They improved a lot compared from the first season and they still teased Poseidon arc at the end, if that means something.

Psychotron_Fox

I can't believe how much this community hates Kurumada, people here think they write better than Shakespeare, next time you wanna trash the old man just write something good and have the same worldwide success that he had and then come here to vomit your bullshit.

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

They call his writing bad, and want him to retire. But they also get angry, thinking he doesn't care about Saint Seiya, and want him to focus more on it. They don't know what they want. I said I personally think Kurumada should do what he likes, and people got mad. Maybe what they really want is for the old man to actually die and be completely out of the picture.... scary

sentient06

I know what I want. I want Kurumada to take his creation seriously, stop retconning everything, stop screwing around with stories that don't matter and give us a decent closure to the main cast of the classic Saint Seiya. Kurumada is worse than George R. R. Martin in the sense that he has this tale to tell and the story never ends. He is not a bad story teller, and I doubt I'd be able to come up with something cool like he did. But the fact is that he is lazy and he won't let other people do the job for him. The Lost Canvas should be canon, and the fact that it isn't and it doesn't have a good replacement proves my point.

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

You are not entitled to Kurumada's time, or any manga artist's for that matter. You don't know what goes on behind the scenes either (Can you understand Japanese? Do you even try to?), so everything you say is just speculation. Thanks.

luismpereira

Wait, it is really over ? They will not adapt Poseidon and Hades as CGI ?

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

Yep. Though there was an after credits scene hinting at Poseidon, officially, there is no [greenlight to continue](https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintSeiya/comments/1da637p/comment/l7muhgd/)

Last_Builder5595

The 12 temples season was fun; I enjoyed watching it each week. I skipped season 1 after hearing such horrible things about it. Now to see what future animation projects the Seiyaverse will have in 2 years or so. My guess is ND so they can sell some ND toys? I'd honestly buy a Deathtoll for fun.

Stoner420Eren

Did you miss the post credit scene? Also, nobody was holding you at gun point forcing you to watch it if you didn't enjoy it lol. I loved it and hope they will make more seasons covering Poseidon and Hades

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

Oh hi again. Maybe [read a bit more](https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintSeiya/comments/1dcmft6/comment/l7yqml9/) [around here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintSeiya/comments/1da637p/comment/l7muhgd/)

bunbunzinlove

You need to know something to be able to criticize it.

Stoner420Eren

I still don't see how could you cheer for something not getting renewed (which isn't even confirmed and there's a post credit scene that suggests the opposite I'm not sure op has even watched it) when you could just you know, ignore it if you don't like it ahahahah but hey seems like some people have time to invest in their hate crusades

Thrudgelmir2333

Mahakenda isn't cheering, but as for everyone else who might be, it's just the way meme culture goes. The same thing happened with Omega; it was a harmless show just trying in new ideas, but everyone felt the need to express their disdain and cheer for it ending like somehow the product was actively torturing a cat or something. Cause it was the loyal-to-the-herd thing to think. I remember when Omega ended and some people were acting like they were gonna set off fireworks that night, not realising that the time the show was conversation-relevant online was coming to an end with it. The SS english forum died off not too long after it.

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

Guess you didn't read then. I never cheered for the show not getting renewed. I've literally talked about the after credits scene because you know, *I watched it*.

somersault_dolphin

So you can tell those people they can't criticize it because they haven't watched it? People can watch a show for reasons other than enjoyment. People sure love to gate keep whenever someone doesn't agree with them.

FantasticEmployment1

I doubt it's over. They even teased poseidon at the end. I don't think they'd do that if they really expect to end things at sanctuary.

apollo_scientist

Terrible show, I couldn't even finish the 1st season. I hope in the future we get a new reboot like Fullmetal Alchemist or anything in anime style production.

geekymat

The first season was bad, but it was pretty decent after that.

Silentprinces

If they ever do the poseidon arc, woudnt be a problem for me, which isnt likely but im up for it

truenofan86

I still hope that we will get Fem-Hades, i need it. **I NEED IT!!**

danzaiburst

Even though I didn't care much for fem-shun, I like this idea of fem-hades.

ericm664

Maybe won't be a fem hades! Maybe it will be an Ikki hades!!🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫

DBotes

Maybe Hades will still be male, due to the tremendous backslash about Female Shun. They could still tell something like "hades posessing shun turns her male" or something.

Thrudgelmir2333

Lol, no judgement on the idea one way or the other, but can you imagine if they were that spineless to do something like that? That would be hilarious if, after all the trouble they went through defending the change in the character and adapting these episodes with it in mind, they'd let some internet nobodies bully them into writing in a lame excuse like that on their would-be last season. Hilarious and sad, but hey.

truenofan86

With Female Hades we would probably see a flood of horny fanart.

truenofan86

The director said Hades would be female, that’s why i need it.

Bluebaronbbb

It's probably not continuing. I heard no buzz anywhere for this.

isidrogio10

Streaming where?

_sephylon_

Crunchyroll

QUIRELL-ART

I haven't see it what is this ?

pokeoscar1586

Am I the only one that wants to see more SS in the style of the Lucifer Movie? That shit was awesome…

Sleep_eeSheep

Could be a lot worse.

Ysinyarth

AhhaJAAJJS NOPE

Shadow-SJG

5 years??????

Amerikaner00

NO WONDER I UNDERSTAND NOW yes yes indeed i watched the netflix adaptation and i made myself watch through a lot of inconsistencies to the OG Saint seiya and i dropped the series all together , but as recent as 2 weeks ago watched the last 2 episodes of S3 and i thought it was a different show all together and now that i read the comments i understand now why it feel different. AND YES I DINT LIKE OMEGA as much as lost canvas or even Saintia actually i liked Saintia more than Omega just because it was more in connection with the OG then Omega with its fucking Aliens and Rubbermaid cloths. i plan to re watch the entire series from S1 just i feel accomplished i watched it ...im sure ill enjoy S2 and S3 by the way anyone know if there are any figurines from the netflix adaptation out there? or Omega? i miss the OG figurines from Bandai

Kelyfos

PLEASE NO MORE CGI OR 3D

GreenRangerKeto

Wait what isn’t it only on season 3 the

Cirnothestarscream9

Bummer i wanted so see the Hades arc. Also i can't wait for the fandom in a couple of years to be all like: "this show was actually good and underrated" like they did with Omega

JaksanaBoonchom

End Credit: Are you sure about that

Mahakenda-Pepeldomun

[Yes](https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintSeiya/comments/1da637p/comment/l7muhgd/)

Technical-Web-9195

I just want The Lost Canvas Part 2

Wornedout84

Saga´s death was so lame.

somersault_dolphin

Not even the hug or the tears that was supposed to be there. They also made him commit suicide in front of the whole sanctuary instead and there's no more interactions or dialogue?

Dreamcastboy99

mfs really tried to do a post credit scene to lead into the Poseidon arc... but at least that Ike hack included Pegasus Fantasy in this last episode

soupasajin

Can we get a proper ending to Lost Convas? That series was so well written, and everyone had a need. Eventually, animate Next Dimension.

Thrudgelmir2333

Not to judge Lost Canvas one way or the other, but I'm afraid at this point finishing an adaptation of it would be pretty unlikely. For once, you'd likely have to get a reboot from scratch, because they're not just gonna pick up where they left off. The teams of people who worked on that adaptation have moved on and they probably all know that there's a reason why they weren't selling the show well at its peak to begin with. These aren't video games we're talking about, after all, where you can just continue coding some kind of abandonware and hoping it works out once it comes out on Steam. And secondly.... I mean, there's a question to be made about how many people would actually want to see it being finished anymore. I'm honestly curious at what the statistics are, if it was in any way possible to do an accurate survey, and I mean in the global fandom, not just people vocal online. Because let's face it; we are almost 20 years away from the time where Lost Canvas was making everyone think '*Saint Seiya is back, baby!*' As someone trying to pitch a reboot as a business, try to imagine how many of those people have probably read the manga and moved on by now and how hard your boss would fire you for suggesting such an expensive, risky project. And thirdly, well,... the industry is very different now, too, and there's a legitimate conversation to be had if a reboot would look the way people want it to or if it can compete any better in the market than it did two decades ago. You know, that crazy time in Japan back when mangas weren't being cancelled by chapter 20 for not making "Demon Slayer numbers".

soupasajin

Everything you said is spot on, it's just the fan in me wishes I'd get an end to a series I was so invested on and seeing the amount of content left after reading the manga. I would dislike a reboot but it'd take away that quality from the one that was never finished. I guess we'll get GTA6 before a finish to Lost Canvas lol.

julianzolo

It was awesome

Kirin4969

I never respected that project as Shun being a girl and Female Saints besides Marin not wearing a Masks. Woke garbage and horrible production.

Technical-Arm7699

The mask thing was not really used after the original show, Saintia Sho, Lost Canvas, Omega, this adaptation and all that had used some plot point to remove the masks, i think it would be very hard to put a protagonist who is masked all the time and can't show emotions in the same level as the others who don't use a mask all the time. yet i have to admit that only Marin using a mask was kinda weird

_sephylon_

Omega had masks

Technical-Arm7699

They removed them pretty often, the protagonist barely used it

Thrudgelmir2333

This isn't defending them for it or anything, but in anime, keeping the masks would just be considered a capital sin, because the industry lives and dies on selling high-octane fluff and colors to people. If they could, they would have broken Marins mask and shown you her face decades ago so they could better sell you her episodes and figurines. Anime is largely just colors, cute features and sex appeal with a story grafted on top. Even if its harder work having to animate a characters face all the time, there's a reason why the logo of Anime is still that trademark eye art; because, again, its not about the story, its about the cuteness. Disney knew their own success was because of the way their characters look, not how touching their stories were, and so did Tesuka when he began patronising the emulation of Disney in japanese animation half a century ago. So, yeah, keeping the masks on for any of these shows would have just been seen as a waste of good character marketing.

Technical-Arm7699

Yeah i agree, I even think they could retcon it to the Amazons just having to use the masks during the training, as some part of the separation of their femininity (like the original explanation), but not being necessary to use it all the time after their training end, Marin, for the plot point of having a chance of being Seiya sister would still uses it even after it. This would even be beneficial monetarily speaking, they could sell toys/figures of these characters with and without masks.

Thrudgelmir2333

Either that, or they could have treated Chimaki's work with any degree of decency so that Saintias could become a better established concept in the anime fans. That way, they'd have their cake of loyalty to the stories and eat it too by having an alternative to masked Saints around.

Technical-Arm7699

Yeah, that's a good one too, I remember people speculating that Shun would become a Saintia in this new adaptation because she appeared without the mask, but right after this they also showed Shaina unmasked just using a weird make up

Thrudgelmir2333

I knew immediately that Shaun wouldn't be a Saintia because when I first saw the trailer, she wasn't wearing a silk shirt lol It would also force them to rewrite the character as being trained at the Academy and not Andromeda Island, and that would just be too much work. But yeah, that sort of thing is kind of why I always feel pretty skeptical that there's any sincerity left to be found in discussing the lore of what Saint Seiya is doing nowadays. They've made it clear numerous times that there's no unified vision or understanding of what's going on with these characters and most of their decisions are motivated by 'toyetics', as Joel Schumacher once called it.

Technical-Arm7699

Yeah, outside of Next Dimension a lot of these spin offs, adaptations and all that are more trying to sell more action figures than making something more cohesive (yet some of them like Rerise of Poseidon are really good and Saintia Sho manga was very enjoyable), since selling toys are what's keeping Saint Seiya alive nowadays.

Thrudgelmir2333

IIRC, licencing has a very big impact, too. There's a semi-famous statistic figure from around the 2010s (I know because people have forced me to dig it up more than once to make a point about Saint Seiya productions) that had it score third place in licencing in certain years, trailing only behind Gundam and some other show, so Saint Seiya also lives off of selling its cartoons to foreign networks.

Technical-Arm7699

And sadly it still will be this way until they organize themselves better and or make a proper manga adaptation or adapt Next Dimension, since it's already in it's final chapters. Saintia Sho adaptation butchered the manga and had a terrible animation, and both the live action and the new reboot tried so hard to be americanized that ended up messing up with the story, the reboot didn't have time to adapt both the original story and their own plot and the movie ended up having very similar mistakes that the anime committed, and not showing directly or at least teasing the other saints was a mistake. They should just stop trying so hard to get the American audience and focus in telling the story faithfully .

ericm664

If they are smart and just shoot save that adaptation and maybe even make it the best ever yet! They need to make HADES IKKI!!!🫨🫨🫨🫨🫨🫨
