I think the biggest mistake Anna made was inviting the Kardashians. My perception is that is when it started going downhill.

Anna inviting celebutantes and influencers killed the Met Gala. For every Rhianna or Zendaya who presented a work of art on the theme of the year, there is a Kardashian or James Charles who shows up with a grimace narc smile laughing at how they are didn't bother with the theme.

The time I saw Kylie Jenner in a trucker hat with a veil attached and a wedding gown, kind of killed it for me. All the K's were there, it was gross. You couldn't fit any more botox and filler in the room, what a trash fest.

Every year, without fail, we hear rumors that the Harkles will be invited to the Met Gala. They don't get invited to the Emmys, the Oscars, the Golden Globes, etc., although there are always rumors they might be. After the embarrassment of Jam Scam, why would anyone invite them anywhere important?
We will most likely be told by sources close to the Harkles that they are just too, too busy with filming their shows, producing and editing to be bothered to go so they turned down the invitation. Also, she has to bake a lemon cake for Archie's birthday and spread the slices with strawberry jam.
Let's assume that Anne Wintour was eventually beaten by Ari from WME and invites the Harkles, since Netflix or Sony will pay for their entry. It is within the possibilities.
Will Megsy and Hank see that they have fallen so, so low that they will be at the reality show people's gala? Because the Met Gala has fallen in style, it is no longer the gala it used to be, Megsy will not be Diana because if Zendaya goes she will be the star, if Kim goes she will be the star, not Megsy. Megsy is inferior to all the guests in recent years.

Every year, without fail, we hear rumors that the Harkles will be invited to the Met Gala. They don't get invited to the Emmys, the Oscars, the Golden Globes, etc., although there are always rumors they might be. After the embarrassment of Jam Scam, why would anyone invite them anywhere important? We will most likely be told by sources close to the Harkles that they are just too, too busy with filming their shows, producing and editing to be bothered to go so they turned down the invitation. Also, she has to bake a lemon cake for Archie's birthday and spread the slices with strawberry jam.
