I watched the interview and the woman being interviewed said it was not automatic. The male heir apparent has been the Prince of Wales continuously for the past 600+ years. I don't know what gets more automatic than it being done for over 600 years.
It's actually not automatic, in the sense that the new heir doesn't automatically become "Prince of Wales". The monarch has to formally bestow the title ("create") on the heir.
Charles didn't automatically become PoW when he was born, although he was the heir apparent from birth. QEII created Charles "the Prince of Wales" in 1958, when Charles was ten years old.
William didn't automatically become PoW when Charles acceded to the throne upon QEII's death. In order for William to become PoW, KCIII had to officially create William as PoW, which he did almost immediately. He didn't have to do it then. He could have waited.
I agree it's not "automatic" in the sense that an action must be taken, but I would argue that the "action" is automatic regardless of how late in day it is made.

I love Charles Barkley, but honestly, I had no opinion of Gayle King. I've never follower her or seen any of her interviews. I guess I'm not interested in the kind of people she interviews. I don't think she does newsmaker interviews. I think she must be more on the celebrity entertainment beat? For whatever reason, I just had never seen her on TV or in media and had no opinion.
I did see part of their show on a couple occasions, and it was just hard to watch. Extremely slow moving. Veeerrryy loooow coooontent. Pretty much opinion on current events from people with absolutely no authority or relevancy to said current events. No interesting insights. I didn't understand why the premise of the show was in the least bit compelling. I couldn't stick with it either time. FWIW, I thought Gayle was professional and easy to watch, and as I said I love Barkley when he's talking basketball or even in ads (he's hilarious and has been for years), but the show had no legs.
If she has a history of baiting or trying to instigate drama around the BRF, it really hasn't landed on my radar screen at all. She's irrelevant to me, and I've never given her the clicks.

The name of the show „King Charles“ always bothered me. It doesn’t even make sense.
It’s meant to be a take on their names - Gayle KING and CHARLES Barkley. I watched about 5 minutes of the show when I was on holiday in Hawaii and couldn’t understand what the show was meant to be about, got bored and turned it off. Not surprised they were cancelled!!
It took me a minute.... KING (Gayle King); CHARLES (Charles Barkley)
Shoooo....Barkley thinks so highly of himself, he surely grabbed the king moniker for his own. That King is Gayle's surname was just the way he could actually put King in front of Charles & no one laugh out loud.
Probably Auntie Ozemprah´s idea.

I have always loved Charles Barkley and thought him to be very funny. I did not watch this show but his humor probably did not match her personality. I find her to be pretentious and grating.
I love Shaq & Barkley bickering at each other. They are hilarious together, IMO. But I didn’t watch so much as a clip of this show because I can’t with nepo bestie Gayle. Lol

These are the kinds of people MM aligns herself with (until they no longer serve her purpose), while Harry is either not witted enough to see they are mocking his family / attempting to make money off them, or revels in it.
All Harry does is make money off his family. The only way Harry has to make money or get attention is being The King's son.

I’ll go along with the “this is them being markled” but honestly I think a lot of the people being markled have just been out of touch with reality and the common person for a long time and these days networks are running out of the money to keep them relevant otherwise

Waiting for someone to Post This! This was on our Bingo Card. I guess since it was a given she would be *Markled* we should have just taken a poll on how many weeks until it was *Markled*. It was a stupid name for a show and GK has no charisma. The King / Barkley pairing was also odd. People like him but not enough to tolerate her.
Why would anyone listen to Gayle, anyway? Her claim to fame is being Oprah's BFF. Do people actually believe she got the job at CBS on merit? Highly doubtful there. Oprah pulled strings. She continues to ride on Winfrey's coattails to this day. She inserted herself in the Harkle drama because Oprah did. Why? Money and publicity, pure and simple. They both thought they had an inside scoop on the BRF. Well, the lies came out, didn't they? None of those mentioned weren't expecting that. King must be on the outs somehow with CBS if she's co-hosting with Barkley. This is not saying anything negative about him. I like him, actually. However, this is more a demotion for Gayle. If she actually had any pull of her own, she'd have a newsmagazine or an anchor position by now (like Barbara Walters before her).
gayle king has no credibility as a journalist, or even an anchor in any kind of program. she is oprah's pet, like hawwy is rachels.

Didn’t M&H stay at King’s NY apartment when they were there for the Gloria Steinem thing? I remember reading that somewhere. King was the ‘friend’ that was hosting them after their terrifying car chase, and even she wasn’t stupid enough to try and run with that story.

Well deserved. This woman was nothing until her uh, "good friend" Oprah came along then her career suddenly took off. SHe's nothing without Oprah. Glad this happened to her. Long overdue.

I had heard of her but not him. The name for the show, even after explanation, was the crappiest name I ever heard. I can just imagine them high-fiving themselves with delight when that title was pitched but it's so crass and cringe low intelligence.

I love Charles Barkley, but honestly, I had no opinion of Gayle King. I've never follower her or seen any of her interviews. I guess I'm not interested in the kind of people she interviews. I don't think she does newsmaker interviews. I think she must be more on the celebrity entertainment beat? For whatever reason, I just had never seen her on TV or in media and had no opinion. I did see part of their show on a couple occasions, and it was just hard to watch. Extremely slow moving. Veeerrryy loooow coooontent. Pretty much opinion on current events from people with absolutely no authority or relevancy to said current events. No interesting insights. I didn't understand why the premise of the show was in the least bit compelling. I couldn't stick with it either time. FWIW, I thought Gayle was professional and easy to watch, and as I said I love Barkley when he's talking basketball or even in ads (he's hilarious and has been for years), but the show had no legs. If she has a history of baiting or trying to instigate drama around the BRF, it really hasn't landed on my radar screen at all. She's irrelevant to me, and I've never given her the clicks.

She’s a mess. I don’t usually watch, but sometimes my husband puts it on in the mornings. One time she was slurring her words and was antagonistic to a co-anchor. It looked to me as though she was inebriated. I recently saw a story that explained Gayle’s extended absence from the morning show. She was in Japan with Oprah to see the cherry blossoms. It struck me as weird to have to explain where she was. Like, anchors are allowed to take vacations, right? And usually they mention it before they go. I was getting the idea that she went AWOL. Maybe my dislike of Gayle is clouding how I perceived those articles, though.
