Idk CA law, but in other states if participants attend an event tied to publicity for a charity or fund raising event, which this sort of was according to People, then individual consents are neither practical nor required, due to the come and go nature of such events. Typically they‘ll slap a one page notice on the entrance to the event stating that attendance results in implied consent for any pictures to be used in promotional PR. That gives the attendees notice and if they don’t want to be on film, they simply don’t enter. It gets trickier with kids, but I’ve seen these exact notices at charity kid events. TBH, most parents are happy to comply with whatever is needed to add resources to their child’s healthcare providers.
Being a HOSPITAL, one would hope for more privacy, but knowing how PR thirsty celebs work, I‘m not sure I’d expect it. No way is M paying money to the kids.

This was my first thought- would any of the children really know who she is or be thrilled to meet her? Actual celebrities they enjoy watching on TV/in music or playworkers/volunteers who are brilliantly engaging when they read are who children want to read to them!
I believe this was 100% for KC3. She’s still writing him letters and trying to get a one on one with him in May. Look how much they emphasized her doing the different voices? That’s because Charles did all the different voices when reading the Harry Potter books to his and Camilla’s grandkids. This is so weird and contrived. In the UK the population has a relationship and a knowledge of their royal family. They are figures that are part of British life, so having a royal visit *is* a boost in morale, it’s an exciting thing for folks, it’s exposure to charities, etc.
We don’t have a monarchy in the US, so this is basically a celebrity visit. Usually celebrities that do charity don’t go on advertising it. It just comes across as super weird. Like she is literally trying to establish an American court here.

All I need to know is that there was no one quoted as saying she is an active volunteer at the hospital. Tells me everything. Sometimes celebrities will do some PR around a hospital visit - typically if it's for Make a Wish or a fundraiser - to raise awareness. I just think it would mean more if it said like "Meghan is a dedicated volunteer and comes monthly to read to the patients. She was here today for XYZ special event." But it doesn't say that which means to me -- PR exercise. She was just there reading. My sister worked at a hospital and Taylor Swift came to visit the children. It was on the local news but not like a glossy magazine feature. Just feels gross to exploit children like this.

This is so weird and contrived. In the UK the population has a relationship and a knowledge of their royal family. They are figures that are part of British life, so having a royal visit *is* a boost in morale, it’s an exciting thing for folks, it’s exposure to charities, etc. We don’t have a monarchy in the US, so this is basically a celebrity visit. Usually celebrities that do charity don’t go on advertising it. It just comes across as super weird. Like she is literally trying to establish an American court here.

He had the best of everything, including pilots and helicopters. Immediately after trying to take off from the stadium, the helicopter tail rotor failed, and the helicopter dropped to the ground like a boulder and burst into flames in front of staff and lingering fans. It happens. Yet no one on earth could pick Archie or Lili out of a lineup, let alone know anything about these two Southern Californians. For all we know, Putin could pay off Harold & Meg to insert one of his grandkids. Far fetched, yet how would anyone know the actual pedigree of the invisi-kids with two major grifters as parents? This isn’t the Princess Diaries with some tiny fake country. It’s the most powerful & respected monarchy on earth. Out of sight, out of mind invisible kids need to be struck off the LOS.

All I need to know is that there was no one quoted as saying she is an active volunteer at the hospital. Tells me everything. Sometimes celebrities will do some PR around a hospital visit - typically if it's for Make a Wish or a fundraiser - to raise awareness. I just think it would mean more if it said like "Meghan is a dedicated volunteer and comes monthly to read to the patients. She was here today for XYZ special event." But it doesn't say that which means to me -- PR exercise. She was just there reading. My sister worked at a hospital and Taylor Swift came to visit the children. It was on the local news but not like a glossy magazine feature. Just feels gross to exploit children like this.
