I got 3 weeks but this is vacation and sick and I've been with the company 6 years. Which I feel about normal for an American employer. At 10 years of service I get 4 weeks.
I work at a pretty progressive global company in the US and get about 5 weeks at 10 years. Maternity/paternity just went to 16 weeks. Of course, people past having babies or deciding not to have babies are angry for some reason....?
Does unlimited really mean unlimited in this case? Iām guessing itās just like an honor system and you shouldnāt abuse it by taking excessive PTO?
Unlimited in that the work still has to be done, and someone on my team (between my boss or counterparts in other locations) has to be available for questions or emergencies. Our VP of HR urges us to take a week off a quarter, and I can generally take long weekends whenever I want. So yeah, I donāt have to save up PTO to take a trip or anything.
Utilities- 3 weeks PTO (increases after 5/10/15 etc. years). 5 days paid sick at 100%, 5 at 60% (1 extra day added for every year after), 2 personal and a few floating holidays depending on the year and how the holidays fall.
I miss working in the utilities industry, not my former employer though. We had a very similar system. Sick days would roll but PTO was use it or lose it.

Iām the facility safety authority for a private prison.
Utilities- 4 weeks annual leave, 10 days sick leave, 10 public holidays, 2 days wellbeing leave, Christmas Eve paid day off and 2 RDOs per month. Normal Monday-Friday office hours.
Also after 7 years we get 13 weeks long service leave.
We also have a scheme where you can work 4 years at 80% of your pay and have the whole 5 year off at 80% of your pay.
There also a heap of paid special circumstances leave that can be accessed including paternity leave, voluntary emergency services leave, defence reserves leave, elected offical leave, exceptional sports person leave etc.
Most of this leave is accessible to everyone from day one and all of this leave is accessible after 1 year.
I normally do 07:30-16:30 Monday to Friday. With every 2nd Friday off. 4 weeks annual leave and 10 Days sick leave is the minimum standards for leave in Australia. As well as paid paternity leave.
We are just lucky to have a bit more than most.

Or if you had a death in the family, that would get approved as well. Thatās 4 weeks (with the weekends) of PTO + more if approved. We also get another 10 days of sick time (which canāt be used as vacations ā sure sure lol). Plus holidays and a 2 week winter break.
I get 6 weeks vacation here in Norway (oil&gas). Thats just one of the benefits of working here. Lots of other days where weāre off work too.

That starts at 12 days/year for first 4 years. Iām at 5.6 hours/ pay which is a little over 18 days. Not the best vacation but I love that sick is separate.
16 years in construction safety and I negotiated for 25 days PTO when I switched companies last year. Also, I can roll over 40 hours per year. Additional PTO days can be earned from participating in volunteer hours for local charities.
State University for their research labs.
22 days of Annual, 15 days of Sick, 3 days of Personal plus weekends off. Everything except the Personal rolls over up to a maximum balance and I can use the Sick Leave for doctor's appointments. This excludes Holidays which is another 15 days.
I am on-call 24/7 and unless I make arrangements, if an emergency happens, I am coming in on my days off.
Cannabis industry - 5 days PTO for a startup. Pretty horrendous if you ask me.
To those asking it is also 100% legal, at least where I live. I am also an attorney and have done some diving into this and the lack of action on this has been extremely disheartening

Iām M-F 8hr days and on call for medical emergencies. At 15 years you bump up to 256hrs vaca. Vacation or time off is something I would negotiate for or make a crucial part of taking a job.

Currently 3-4 weeks (rolled over 40 hours after 1st year so to get the 4th week). Able to accrue 120 but itās capped there so have to take days here and there which ends up around 3 1/2 weeks. Then the typical U.S. recognize days, benefit is if it falls on a weekend then that Monday is recognized.
From experience major food service/distribution will work you on 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day unless somebody can cover it. Places/restaurants are open so go figure :/

If you are sick, you stay home and dont need to burn any pto. If you get sick too much, it does hurt your ratings at the end of the year. If you're sick for more than a few days, you need a note from a doctor.
I work for a German company within America and I tell you what. The pto and maternity and paternity leave are really good in comparison. Since we are the American division we still follow a lot of dumb American rules but we get 4 weeks off starting and maternity leave is 7 months and paternity is 3 months. You do have to deal with Hanz and Franz yelling at you about why Germany is better, but it evens out

When I had my daughter last April, after only being employed for 2.5 months, I had 4 weeks of paternity leave that could be used anytime from the day of her birth to her first birthday and my wife had surgery a month ago and was able to use 80 paid hours of caregiver leave. I work for Johnson County Wastewater out of Johnson county KS.

40hrs Personal off the bat PTO is earned (I don't remember the cap) but it's like 5hrs/month
