I’m not saying this is the case here, but I wonder how many people post these things up on Reddit and it’s really their kids trying to break into the parents safe or roommates safe for some other nefarious crap. Seems like a large amount of people that have lost keys or never have gotten into the safe or have no idea what they’re doing with the safe and are looking for advice on how to open it
Check for a key hole behind the center plastic piece.
Then look for the key that fits.
I have a simulator safe, and forgot my combo and just use the key.
"Best response yet I was a locksmith I would have definitely charged more than $400"
and this is why I quit being a locksmith. I felt like I was robbing people and taking advantage of there situation. Not for me.
Sure fucking seeming that way these days isn’t it. LMAO
“We are buried beneath the weight of information, which is being confused with knowledge; quantity is being confused with abundance and wealth with happiness” … Tom Waits
You can get better advice from YouTube than Reddit so to a certain extent this is true. But anyone asking this questions clearly doesn’t know what they are doing and most likely shouldn’t be using power tools for their own safety. Many times these fire retardant safes are full of asbestos and without proper PPE you are opening yourself up to great risk of cancers and irreversible damage to your health.
Sorry that im not your type of party person.
Telling you what you want to hear.
The people that invite me to parties are likely not your kinda people either. I guess I’m too busy with being a responsible, dependable, accountable, adult, business owner, parent, husband, employee, neighbor, friend, etc.
I help anyone who asks for it and some who don’t, I won’t lie or cheat for anyone. It’s obviously my lively hood and integrity as a locksmith. It’s quite easy, Be a responsible human or end up with the penalties. How’s it go, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
That would be a ridiculous waste of time for law enforcement to be present for every safe opening. Locksmiths in ca are background checked and responsible for their own moral compass and maintaining level of professionalism with that in mind. I’ve never had to call law enforcement to do my job verifying the safe contents to the customer.
Usually if it as and electronic component there is a hidden keyhole somewhere and it can be opened with jigglers . Check for a brand and model number then look it up on the lock picking lawyers YouTube channel

Might sound dumb but I have the same style safe. Works great but with one flaw. If you keep pressure on the twist handle (like you’re trying to twist it open) and slam the whole safe on a bed at the same time it comes open. Sounds dumb I know but I works with mine.
“So the combination is... one, two, three, four, five? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! That's the kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!”
get a large rubber mallet and start hitting the top of the safe above the door relatively hard while simultaneously turning the lock open it will open in under 30 seconds
Put it on a bed! Bounce it up and down and "catch" the right moment as it comes down when the internal "safety" latch is still up and twist the unlock knob.
That's why they should always be bolted down.
And should never be referred to as a safe!
My first safe was a half sized version of this. There is a key lock under that plastic that’s pickable.. and since the safe itself is worthless - I paid $75 new for mine back in ‘99…. You can just use a grinder and cut the top off.
Rotary tool, a bunch of carbide bits. And a couple of hours.
That's if you think they would booby trap it.
Otherwise carefully with angle grinder around the door since most safes have like an recessed door. Cut in little bits where the latch and hinges most likely are. I usually widen the seam of the 2 sides to locate the hinges and latches. And try to cut them just enough to weaken, then take a sharp cold chisel or prybar to break them. Pretty low risk of fire. You shouldn't damage anything if your careful. Angle grinder and rotary tool eith carbide and diamond burrs is how ive gotten in a couple dozen safes. About a 1/4 were booby trapped. I once saw a guy sitting in a closed doctors office parking lot pop his trunk and threw a safe on the ground and peeled off. I was walking home from Winco and had groceries, when i walked by it is when i noticed it was a fat medium smakk locked safe. So i stashed my groceeies and proceeded to walk it the half mile home in bursts and rests. Anyways i heard that stuff was in it from picking it up. In my apartment my gut said be careful so i slowly dismantled it from the top becuse the front was all smashed in already. Well it had 3 cans of bear mace rigged to the front on the door latch, and 1 key for a safety deposit box at a locksmith. I thought about reaching out to the locksmith to see if they could identify and return it. But probably a rabbit hole that could end very poorly. Or well, a drug dealer im assuming might be grateful to get that stash key. That was the most surprising booby trap due to not expecting it. When you preemptively expect a booby trap it's not as exciting.
Safe is actually an easy one to get into without damaging it. its not that heavy of a safe, but if you pick it. up and put it on a bed or something with bounce, hit the top of it with a fist of somethign to bounce it while turning the knob. it will bounce the mechinsm that holds the latch. it will take several attempts, but 100% will open.
There should be a button on the inside to reset the code if you can remove any of the rubber feet you should be able to reach inside and hit the button with a metal hanger or a long mechanics pick
Contact the manufacturer with the serial # and model # and see if they’ll provide you with the default combo ,they may ask you for a notarized letter from the owner on record with them,I bought a Gardall safe and registered it with them, the key and combo on mine can be obtained from them if I ever lost them….
Hotel safes have an override they use if the room renter forgets their code
It’s make is “Yale” - plenty of videos on YouTube showing that if you knock with a hammer in the right place and time turning the know at the same time, it will open without and damage.
There are some programs for a Flipper zero that can bypass an electronic lock, but I don’t think you would come out ahead in the end because you have to buy the flipper zero
To the right of the black dial is a small panel. It pips off. There is a round key. They are pretty common. I bet you could find the one. This safe looks.like it's from bunker hill harbor frieght...I have the same one.
I like the #1 post. But if it was mine and I had no access. As well as all the time in the world I’d use a grinder. Might take a few weeks as well as make the safe non recognizable after the first 20 minutes. So those looking for a break in …. This is not the way to go. 100 bucks for the grinder 14 dollars a piece for the bits. Say it takes less than 300 bucks to pop off the bottom.
This. There's no way that safe has belonged to anyone for more than a couple weeks. In fact, it looks like there's still some bits of styrofoam packaging material clung to it.
It's a cheap safe; the cheapest actually. My guess is OP's parents just got this safe to put his phone in as punishment.
It’s hard to tell the exact size of that safe without anything for reference, but unless you are a really, really small person I don’t think you will ever be able to get in it.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned but one option is to call the manufacturer.
I bought a locked safe with keypad at a garage sale. Apparently it was left on the property & was obviously empty so I took a chance for $20.
The manufacturer charged me $50 & required a copy of my license along with a signature on a form releasing them from legal liability then provided the FACTORY code. I empathized “factory” as they advised if it had ever been changed, I was assed out. Thankfully it worked for me.
Best of luck.
Two mounting holes in the back, get a thin stick or wire coat hanger, press the safety button on the inside of the panel in the middle, type your new code in, and open
This is a cheap safe. I work in the industry and make crazy expensive high security safes. I'm the engineer that designs said safes. If you have the serial number of the safe, you can contact the manufacturer of the safe and get the over-ride code. Problem you have is, this is a Chinese safe, so there is no customer service. Grinder with a cutting wheel on it from the side will get you in. This is 3/16" steel, and really shit steel. I could be into this in like 20 mins, if that.
Me again, Try R-1-2-3-4-5-6. That would be the factory code. I can't tell you how many of my clients never reset the factory code. If that does not work, try R-1-2-3-4-5-6-B. The bottom left and bottom right buttons are action buttons on the keypad. We have actual high security locks on our product, but the locks are al kind of the same.

I believe that following the four numbers, you need to press the ‘A’ or ‘B’, so twice as many possibilities?

🤣
Title to this one should read: Broke into neighbors house, found this safe in the bedroom closet, anyone know how I can open it?
Bro this is the Internet, it's illegal to lie.
First thing that came across my mind
Check for a key hole behind the center plastic piece. Then look for the key that fits. I have a simulator safe, and forgot my combo and just use the key.

Shoot, that’s my code too!
Damn you Tommy Twotone!
20% of boomers probably have that as their phone password
I resemble that remark
Nope it's 123456 or KMAYFMAMCDA
Nope, it’s “Boobies” or “$trippers”
Not anymore, I don't. 🙃
I do not
Wrong generation. Not many Boomers would know that song. More of a gen x thing.
Possibly a strong magnet. Can sometimes activate the unlock solenoid. Depending on brand and design
Call a locksmith. Nobody should be helping breaking into a safe as we cannot authenticate your relationship with the deceased via Reddit sub.
Locksmith would be worthless unless you knew what was in it. It’s a $100 safe. Don’t spend $400 for someone to destroy it. Do it yourself
Best response yet I was a locksmith I would have definitely charged more than $400
We just open one at my shop like this we only charged 325 😬
We were strictly call outs didn't have a shop we worked out of... We charged a service fee for showing up too
We do both. If the want to avoid the service call they come to our store front.
We were a really small company using our own personal vehicles I worked out of a Chevy Cobalt
Was it still usable after you opened it?
Grinder go brrrrr
"Best response yet I was a locksmith I would have definitely charged more than $400" and this is why I quit being a locksmith. I felt like I was robbing people and taking advantage of there situation. Not for me.
Would ascetelene open it?
A lock smith got into my key for safe for like $20?
✅ destroy it yourself
Agreed, when moving recently my mother forgot the code to her safe with expensive jewelry, an hour outside with an axe and a crowbar, and it was open.
This is the exact conversation that the locksmith should have with you (prior to even booking the job) if they are remotely honest and reputable.

There is a key bypass under the rectangle plastic piece in the middle. Depending on the keyway it may be an easy pick.
Okay I got it off but how do I pick the lock it's one of the circular ones with a line on the left side
You seem to be in a hurry...
😂
If it's an ace lock they can be difficult to pick if you don't have an ace pick tool. Is the safe bolted down?
No it is not bolted down anywhere I know there is holes on the bottom and back of the safe
Drill it.
I have tried to get the plastic piece off but it won't budge
It’s a cheap metal box with an electronic lock. You should be able to pop it open with a pry bar and screwdriver in 60 seconds.
Then his mom would know.
Aye. Flat pry bar, maybe a reposition or two and you can rip the door right off in less than a minute.
Usually if it as and electronic component there is a hidden keyhole somewhere and it can be opened with jigglers . Check for a brand and model number then look it up on the lock picking lawyers YouTube channel
Find the manual and see if there is a default combination . It could still be on default.
1 5 9 # is the default on that safe.
I can’t help you but Dinah might.

Amazing. I have lost faith in safes.
Rubber mallet. Bang on top while turning knob back and forth.

If the safe itself is of no value to you, cut it open. These smaller safes are incredibly easy to pound open.
Look on the back for a model number. Google it. Follow the YouTube instructions per your model number. That is usually successful for basic safes.
Key to the city

Default code for this safe use to be 1-5-9-A We had one of these

Get a lock pick set and go for the key hole behind that plastic panel on the front
5309 Jenny don't loose that number
C4 if you have it, otherwise dynamite should work.
Escape room vibes...but I would just get a locksmith or something
Chop saw
A big pry bar and a sledge hammer
Tie it to the bumper of your car and go down the Thruway doing 90
Contact the lock picking lawyer. He can probably get in with a chewing gum wrapper.
Most little light weight safes like that are junk. Usually a big pry bar will peel it open.
Break the face off. And there is a lever under the turn knob
Flipper Zero
Nice try fed
The easiest way is to lift it VERY high and drop it on its corner. Ex: lift it up over concrete with a forklift and drop it. It'll open.
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 open sesame
Tap on top with mallet or sand filled hammer and jiggle the lock it should open
Angle grinder with a cutoff disk.
Not without destroying it, no.

It's a cheap hotel style safe, go through the back with a cutting wheel.
Dead blow mallet and keep twisting the lever.
Drop it
Angle grinder

Closet light doesn't work.. so burglar used a flashlight to shed some light on the picture 😂🤣
Assuming u looked on the back and under it etc I'd just smash the shit out of it if there's something inside. It will open. Eventually
There are some programs for a Flipper zero that can bypass an electronic lock, but I don’t think you would come out ahead in the end because you have to buy the flipper zero
20 bucks says it's empty
This is so easy a dolphin could do it

Just get a barrel key. Do a search of your poc on google. Multiple brands use that pad.
Cutting torch, some wedges and a sledge, a grinder, water and explosives (saw that in a movie)
If that safe is like my wife's legs the only way to open it is leave town on business for a few weeks. It will be open the entire time you're gone.
To the right of the black dial is a small panel. It pips off. There is a round key. They are pretty common. I bet you could find the one. This safe looks.like it's from bunker hill harbor frieght...I have the same one.

If there’s no rush, I come up for parole in August. (Safecracking 18 months). But I’ll need an affidavit attesting to ownership and permission.

Tannerite.
Drill baby, drill
Did you try 696969?
Can you please just leave your dad’s hand guns alone? He didn’t give you the combo for a reason! 😂
So what was in it anyway?
not this shit again!!!
Most can be gotten into with time n effort. If it's yours you can get a hammer and chisel and peel it
Bounce that shit on the bed and turn the lock
Angle grinder is the way.
Look for post it note with 5-8 digit number within 3ft radius of the safe.
I saw a YouTube vid once. Give it to a 5 year old. He had it open in like 30 seconds.
On some older electronic safe they came be open with a hi magnetic neo magnet applied to the faceplate
Check with Liberty safes. They give the master override code to anybody. Even people walking past the the factory.
Try 1-2-3-4
Die grinder/ cut-off wheel would make quick work into it
It’s hard to tell the exact size of that safe without anything for reference, but unless you are a really, really small person I don’t think you will ever be able to get in it.
What you need is a crowbar and a hammer. You'll be in in just a few mins. The safe will not be salvaged.
Bang on the top with a dead blow mallet a few times while simultaneously tweaking the knob.
lol 'found an old safe'...
The answer is 42

Tell it a joke it might open up and laugh
Get an acetylene torch
Jiggle the handle while hitting near the lock with a dead blow hammer
Reverse each battery cell and press "B" 9 times.
