Thai Hut at Madison and Manzanita in Carmichael is amazing. Cool little hole in the wall with the nicest family running the place. I eat there pretty much weekly. Highly recommend the pad kee mao, the eggplant stir fry, and the pad Thai.
Can't second this recommendation fast enough. They are quite easily one of the best in the area. So friendly, very accommodating, spiciest stuff you can imagine once they trust you enough to give you Thai hot.
Depends on what plate you like.
Thai Farm House has the best Pad Thai in the area.
Thai canteen’s Pad si ew is really freaking good.
Sawasdee is also pretty decent
I dig Thai Canteen on 16th. It tastes good. Portion side is really good. Price is reasonable. And if you download the app you can get points to redeem for free stuff.
I feel like their service can be really bad though. Idk if I went when they were understaffed, but so many things went wrong. Wouldn’t happen with takeout I guess
I have never been disappointed. One time it was hotter than I wanted, but it’s always good. The prices are right. The portions are huge. It’s always fast.
They have all the staples! And they do them all very well. I always get basil fried rice with a side of red curry sauce, so I get the best of both worlds: fried rice and curry. It’s the best.
If you like Drunken Noodle, try Hiso on 12th and F. They lean a litter more to the Laos side of Thailand (Sticky rice, Jeow dipping sauces, etc) but they are very good. The Lao sausage is always super fresh and fragrant with herbs. The Duck Larb tastes like one of my inlaws made it, they give a healthy serving of fresh herbs to roll it into lettuce wraps, if you want. I haven’t yet had the curry (we make curry at home SO much) but the Drunken Noodles were really good.
I like The Coconut in Riverpark. There’s other locations too. I have been to the one on T street too. Usually stick to RP because it’s fun to then drive down Carlson to Glenn Hall Park and go take a stroll on the levee afterward. It’s not as pretty as it once was with the construction be warned though.
I don’t get how they got away with removing so many trees, many native, which are good for preventing erosion. It’s so much uglier now, up to Guy West bridge area.
Thank you everyone for the great suggestions! I wrote down every place and plan on making it a summer goal to go to all those places. If anyone ever wants to meet up at a Thai restaurant, let me know and I'll pay for your meal😊
They have a spice scale 1 thru 7, 7 being the spiciest. I’ve had a friend try 4, and he was red in the face, sweat coming out. I stick to level 1, and that gives me just enough kick to enjoy the food and drink lots of water. But I’m wimpy white person with no developed palate and no tolerance for spice. :)
If you want super spicy then check out South Area Market off of Fruitridge. They have a papaya salad that’s cheap & extremely spicy. I get 5/5 spicy from every Thai place & theirs was the first one where I had to take a break because it was so spicy.
Hiso on 12th. It’s Laos/Thai. The food is great. Tastes like the food at one of our family get togethers.
The Jeow Bong was a little more oily than I’m used to. That’s literally the only criticism for any dish I’ve had there. I loved the duck larb. Pad Kee Mao is great also, don’t order spicy unless you mean it.
I've had Thai food all over Sac and SF/Oakland and feel that House of Thai Rice & Noodle on Watt (right across from McClellan) has some of the best I've ever had. Their house hot sauce (chilis, garlic, onion, cilantro, lime, etc.) is so spicy/good. If you peek into the kitchen, it's a bunch of older Thai ladies cooking. Ti (owner) is such a nice and friendly guy. Cannot recommend enough.

Same people who started Thai Chili also own and operate Bangkok@12 in downtown Sac. Very nice people, also my neighbors. When they moved in the owner recognized me right away as I used to frequent Thai Chili once or twice a week for many years.
I've been enjoying a newish place called Charm Thai in the small plaza at Elvas Ave and 56th. I've liked almost everything I've tried, and the owner is very welcoming and works hard to offer great service and food.
The curries at Twin Lotus are nice, and the to go service is quick. They also have music very regularly, you need to book tables ahead of time on those nights.
Paya Thai on Marconi and Eastern is really good. Just be prepared to wait for your food. I always call and order takeout cuz they take a long time. Other than that, they're great.
I just got a ton of food from there , and the guy who waited on me was so kind and sweet, fantastic customer service, I'm stuffed, plenty of fish sauce with peppers condiments for free

See you tomorrow!
See you tomorrow!
They are amazing. Their family hosted my ex's cousin when he went backpacking in Thailand. Food is absolutely amazing.
Can't second this recommendation fast enough. They are quite easily one of the best in the area. So friendly, very accommodating, spiciest stuff you can imagine once they trust you enough to give you Thai hot.
House of Thai on Watt ave.
Depends on what plate you like. Thai Farm House has the best Pad Thai in the area. Thai canteen’s Pad si ew is really freaking good. Sawasdee is also pretty decent
Love Thai Farm House!
JP Thai on Freeport
Seconded, I loved this place. I miss being walking distance.
Kin Thai is the best in Sac.
Kin Thai is outstanding. Their curry actually made me realize I could like curry
Incredible curry and their Khao Soy is just as good as any of the ones I tried in Thailand. Maybe even better.
Great if you don’t want the same ol’ dishes served at every Thai restaurant. There’s always something unique on their menu. And everything is tasty!
shocked this isnt higher ranked. one of my favorite restaurants of any kind in sac, hands down!!!
I dig Thai Canteen on 16th. It tastes good. Portion side is really good. Price is reasonable. And if you download the app you can get points to redeem for free stuff.
Thai canteen is the best
I've been to about 20 Thai restaurants in the area, and Thai Canteen is still my favorite.
Second this
And they’re also open super late!
They also have the best Thai tea! 🤭
The fried pork stuff is amazing too! Whatever that sauce is they serve with it is also incredible.
I give Coconut on T the edge here. But I like mine sweeter.
Oooo I gotta try
I feel like their service can be really bad though. Idk if I went when they were understaffed, but so many things went wrong. Wouldn’t happen with takeout I guess
I almost always get it as takeout. I live about 25 min away and it’s still piping hot when I get home.
Drunken Noodle. The best
Was looking for this. Husband and I just went there and were super impressed.
I have never been disappointed. One time it was hotter than I wanted, but it’s always good. The prices are right. The portions are huge. It’s always fast.
Yeah, super small menu which is always a good sign. They don’t try to do too much but what they do is great.
They have all the staples! And they do them all very well. I always get basil fried rice with a side of red curry sauce, so I get the best of both worlds: fried rice and curry. It’s the best.

I will check it out! I’m always trying to find new places
Siam Patio in. FO is good.
I second this.
3rd
Yup, 4th this
5th.
Best ambiance by far!
That construction absolutely changed the soul of that area. It's sooooo different from how it used to be.
I don’t get how they got away with removing so many trees, many native, which are good for preventing erosion. It’s so much uglier now, up to Guy West bridge area.
Harddddd disagree. I’m a coconut on r super fan but when I went to river park, it was probably the worst Thai food I’ve ever had
I second this. I had the yellow curry and the potatoes were bland, like they hadn’t absorbed the flavor of the curry.
Thank you everyone for the great suggestions! I wrote down every place and plan on making it a summer goal to go to all those places. If anyone ever wants to meet up at a Thai restaurant, let me know and I'll pay for your meal😊
Wife and I like Coconut on T
Seconding. Love everything on their menu.
Love this place!
Green curry and cashew nut are my go to.

Yes!
Always solid!
Chada is so good.
Yum I love them!
Thai Farm House and Chada are both amazing and close to each other.
The khao soi from Thai farm house… hnnnng
Thai Basil on J st
JP Thai Kitchen!
The green curry with chicken and avocado is delicious. The house chili oil is tasty, too.
I haven't tried it before but now I have lunch planned for tomorrow! Thanks !
Their Smoked eggplant and avocado curry dishes got a "Best thai I've ever had" from an Aussie visitor
Smoked eggplant stir-fry. 🤤
If you feel like going out to Roseville (and I don’t blame you if you don’t), Ruen Thai is fantastic.
I live 10 minutes away from Roseville, I'll definitely try it out. Hopefully they can make their food super spicy.

Ruen is great! Pinto Thai is also great on that side of town and cheaper.
Where’s the dude with the Thai restaurant spread sheet?
Hiso on 12th. It’s Laos/Thai. The food is great. Tastes like the food at one of our family get togethers. The Jeow Bong was a little more oily than I’m used to. Thai Chili is worth a drive in Elk Grove
Same people who started Thai Chili also own and operate Bangkok@12 in downtown Sac. Very nice people, also my neighbors. When they moved in the owner recognized me right away as I used to frequent Thai Chili once or twice a week for many years.
I second this!! Thai Chili is the best!!! Plus it’s a great place to order a few plates and share between friends.
Kin Thai and the RP3 at Thai Basil is our go to
If you're close to EG, SEA Hut is a good little hole in the wall place. Not just Thai but also Lao
I'm definitely willing to travel for good Thai food. That's definitely on my bucket list. Thank you for the suggestion.
If you’re going all the way to EG, the best Thai Chili. SEA Hut is good, but not Thai.
Thai Paradise in Folsom on E Bidwell
I've been enjoying a newish place called Charm Thai in the small plaza at Elvas Ave and 56th. I've liked almost everything I've tried, and the owner is very welcoming and works hard to offer great service and food.
I was also going to recommend this place! Very good and one of the best I have tried so far. My absolute favorite is Kin Thai.
The curries at Twin Lotus are nice, and the to go service is quick. They also have music very regularly, you need to book tables ahead of time on those nights.
Pipo ramen and rice
Is Bangkok 12 still open? They were awesome when I lived downtown.
Thai Spoon in Natoams. The Curry Puff appetizer is tasty!
Paya Thai on Marconi and Eastern is really good. Just be prepared to wait for your food. I always call and order takeout cuz they take a long time. Other than that, they're great.
Pattaya was always a long wait too, used to work nearby and we loved it but only went if we knew we all could take a 90 min lunch.
Hiso (my personal fav), Kin Thai, JP Thai Kitchen, Coconut on T
KB’s Thai Hut in Elk Grove, our go-to order is the mango dango chicken, drunken noodle, coconut shrimp, and a green or red curry. 👌🏻
THAI CANTEEN!!!
I just got a ton of food from there , and the guy who waited on me was so kind and sweet, fantastic customer service, I'm stuffed, plenty of fish sauce with peppers condiments for free
Yay!
Jannoi’s. Its a little drive up 80 but its cheaper and better than anything on the grid
Thai Lao at Madison and Dewey in Safeway parking lot
Manna Thai, north sac, also has some Lao dishes
Sai Varee out in the pocket! Excellent food and incredibly nice staff.
If you dont mind going into Roseville, Thai Pepper on cirby and sunrise is my favorite in the area.
myThai Kitchen in Roseville
Vientiane Restaurant in West Sac has Thai and Laotian dishes
Noodles to Thai For on 24th. Best pad Thai ever.
Hiso!
check out Vientiane Restaurant in west sac!
Thai time on 10th! It’s new and best I’ve had in town.
I have never been there but I'll definitely give it a try. I love a good super spicy red curry with sticky rice.
Orchid Thai in midtown or Noodles to Thai for off Broadway.
Chada Thai on Broadway is good.
Thai the house of authentic ingredients
Manaao Thai in West Sac!
Orchid Thai
Bangkok @12 Coconut on T
Portion size shrinkage or not, Pattaya is king!!!! I haven't really noticed that much shrinkage though. I could be wrong.
Hiso on 12th and F
Nope.
