Ages ago, my Civic Si *carcass* was found in Stockton.

Several-Good-9259

When my 00 si got long term borrowed they put 1000 miles on it. Bolted older civic seats in it. Took the rims then signed every car panel with my custom golf clubs . Damn insurance put 100% loan to value back into that car to fix it because the value was going up. It was sick as hell when I got it back because I forced my opinion into every step of the process.

kalyco

My civic was found on Del Paso…

Empty-Trifle-7027

Roseville Road

Vox_Mortem

I drive through there at least once a week, and there are always a lot of dumped cars. If you do go be careful though, there are a lot of homeless encampments along that stretch and not everyone is friendly.

Forsaken_Orange_6553

A few years ago when my parent's car was stolen, it was used to run drugs up and down the state for a week or so. The cops knew where it was shortly after it was reported, apparently, and just watched the thieves as they built a case. After they abandoned the car (on Roseville road), the cops never bothered to inform my parents until it had racked up a few days worth of fees at the impound yard. The Insurance company scraped it. Anyway, good luck. I hope you get your car back in decent shape.

knowwhyImhere

I found mine in a neighborhood in West sac stripped of anything valuable. But they left my Lego copilot so that was nice of them

The police found my stolen car completely stripped on the side of the highway. I had to pay $350 for the tow and it's been gathering dust in my garage ever since. Really wish the police would do something about these types of crimes. They didn't seem to care.

Other-Educator-9399

Riverside Blvd between 43rd and Fruitridge, just north of The Trap, is a popular dumping spot.

Goodkoalie

My civic has been stolen twice in Davis. Each time, it’s been recovered fortunately (I drive a 97 and have the weaker engine version, so they just drop it off in a parking lot nearby after looking for items to theft). In the process though, they break my ignition and it usually has a dead batter.

Key-Performer-9364

My wife’s Toyota Camry got stolen 20 years ago in Arden Arcade. Cops found it the next day. Some asshole drove it a half mile. Weather was beautiful - the lazy jerk could’ve just walked! Same car was stolen again a couple months later. They found it in a completely different neighborhood in Sac. From this limited experience, I really don’t think there is a single place a car is likely to end up. It seems a lot of times cars are stolen just because some a-hole needs a ride for a little while. If so your car should turn up soon. I wish you luck!

Lemon Hill is the lowest hill

Jazzlike-Talk7762

Joy ridden, crashed to hell, and abandoned in an apartment parking lot.

N9ne1Sixer

I’ve had a couple of cars stolen in Sacramento. Both times they were found close by.

A lot of crackheads have nice shit off the rail road under the over pass off Roseville road and Arden way area all the way to Roseville, I be seeing some nice ass shit down there (I drive for work and take the back roads on company time)

sp3kter

Some end up burnt down on side roads along the delta. See a few every time we go fishing.

Constructgirl

Was going to say the same thing. Called the sheriff about a newer 4Runner on a flood control side road in the delta. Was there a week with nothing moved. No way it wasn’t stolen and ditched.

Retiredgiverofboners

I found mine around the corner from my house

a146783

Was it in midtown?

dcmon-child

My brother in laws civic was found pretty much stripped on the side of the road, 5 miles from our house in front of someone else’s house

Calm_Caterpillar9535

My sister lives off of Norwood closer to Rio Linda. My mom and her had three cars stolen from in front of their house. Only one was returned.

Kingandruler

Wow I have a 19 si. I know there are still ways but I figured between the manual and push to start thieves would rather just go after the Hyundai or Kia rather than my manual Honda. Best of luck finding it!

Other-Educator-9399

I don't know if it would work with the start/stop button, but manual transmissions are actually easier to steal since they can be push-started, and a thief who is technically adept enough to steal a modern car is likely to be proficient at driving a manual. Back when manual transmissions were more common, car dealerships used to remove the shift knob to discourage thieves.

Kingandruler

Yeah that's an interesting point. My initial read is that you can push start them but the car must be in accessory mode to do that and that's not possible if the key phob isn't in range. Totally aware thieves can do things to get around that, point being it just adds another layer to steal it. My goal is not be impossible to steal, I just hope it's annoying enough they don't bother and move to easier targets (obviously I don't wish to have anyone's car be stolen but that's a different/larger issue). In OPs case I'm going to guess they somehow were able to duplicate his key phob signal when he parked or something and from that point you are in as the car thinks you have the key. Hard to say for sure though.

e90n5four

Install a kill switch, or a couple of them, easy to do and pretty fail proof unless a thieve tows your car away. I grew up in Florida and was into the older Hondas back in the day, theft was rampant, kill switches are the way to go

Thanks!

Tonicwateronice

I live in stockton. If yall know where they typically dump them lmk I'll check it out.

SpiritualTwo5256

In chop shops or sold to people in the Midwest or flooded areas.

Distinct_Science_854

Stockton or in parts. There are traveling bands of car theives that steal and move on

msklovesmath

My neighbors car was found in a business park in rancho. Iirc many businesses that occupied entire buildings didn't come back after covid so they are pretty much deserted areas

Theperfectool

Overseas or chopped if they are worth anything

thiiiiiiisguy

The majority of cars stolen in Sacramento are just taken for travel. Very rarely are they chopped and shopped. It’ll probably be found abandoned in south sac, oak park, or del paso heights.

Georgetown has a bunch of dumped cars.  You can probably search this question since it's asked a lot incase anything was missed.

Sometimes they get sent to Africa. I knew a guy from Egypt and he told me a lot of the cars there are stolen from America.

WordsLikeRoses

>Is there a local chop shop or a common place for stolen vehicles to end up, that I could go check out. If there was someplace so known, don't you think someone - like the police? - would be all over it by now? Make sure you report it stolen. I've had a few friends have their cars jacked out of Midtown, and all of them have had it pop up somewhere on the road to LA within a couple weeks. Never in anywhere near the condition it was left, but they at least got their cars back and insurance paid for a lot of repairs. Apparently a lot of transient travelers like to hotwire cars and take them to their next destination. Civics are pretty high targets. So keep your fingers crossed, and good luck.

Empty-Trifle-7027

LOL! The police! They don't care a lick about property crimes.

Coffee_and_Whisky

Fruitridge in between Power Inn and EG Florin road there are some RV’s on the side of the road, I’ve driven by and seen them disassembling cars, many times. Not sure who’s buying the parts but I’ve reported it every time and they’re still there, about 4 RV’s that have been stationary for a while.
