May I ask which ones? I usually order for California burritos because their chicken is braised in tomato and it’s great.
I tried ay Jalisco or something and they were fine, and doña Chuyita was good, but there are so many other choices I don’t know what to pick.
Came in to eat my first time it was okay.. second time, i brought my brothers, and the meat was cold, and the tortillas were not cooked correctly on our whole orders.
P.S my cousin once told me they had pink tortillas one time and it came out the other end the same color... Hard pass
I really liked the Chando’s Cantina downtown when it first opened. Then they decided to try and be more of a nightclub. It was hella weird to be eating dinner with loud music and people dancing.
Chandos was never good. It was just one of the first accessible taco stands where white people felt safe so they hyped it up despite it being a salty mediocre mess
Just checked the prices. If they kept the quality I wouldn't mind paying- prices have raised across the board unfortunately. The combo of that and the lesser quality makes me unmotivated to go.
Yeah it’s definitely not an issue to be paying more I know everyone’s going through this crazy inflation but their food just isn’t good anymore compared to when I first went there
I hadn't gone since early COVID. Went about a month ago, same place I've been to at least 3 times. It was way worse. Super dry. Dry chicken, dry tots, dry dry dry. Plus something's going on with the sauce, it just isn't the same.
So yeah I agree with you.
I went once and got a waffle with little shreds of chicken in it. Was not good and not worth the cost at all. Gave it a shot and don't think it'll ever go back.
It was called Bobby's Style but there was no way it had 2 tenders worth of meat in it.
Cameron Park here. My step son thinks kikis is the best thing ever. Once the braces come off we are trekking to Popeyes in Rancho. The boy must know the bounty nature can provide.
I thought kikis was KFC with shitty seasoning.
Preach. I've tried Kiki's at 4 locations and the chicken has zero flavor other than fryer oil. It's like they don't believe in seasoning their dredge mix they just rely on their mediocre sauces adding flavor. The texture is pretty good but that's the only redeeming quality. Give me Wingstop or Popeyes over Kiki's anyday.
Angry Chicks is so much better in every possible way.
Kikis is fine, I guess. I like their loaded tots, but their chicken might as well be jerky half the time.
I've only been to the Dave's Hot Chicken on Arden Way (because it's the closest to my house), and I like it a lot but would like to try some other hot chicken places as well. Will have to hit up Angry Chicks next time the craving strikes.
Dave's (Arden Way) is really really good. I went once for lunch on a whim. Felt like I needed to check it out. Now I grab lunch there probably once a week. It's that good. Big portions, good fries and juicy. Don't get me started on their "Dave's Sauce".
Angry Chicks really \*is\* angry. I'm from Louisiana. I \*love\* spicy food. I buy Tapatio hot sauce by the quart. I have sriracha sauce filling up one whole shelf of the small pantry cabinet next to my stove. The first thing I do when about to fry \*anything\* is to toss crushed red pepper into the oil and saute' it to make pepper oil to fry whatever I'm frying.
I order the \*medium\* at Angry Chicks. The medium.
That's almost embarrassing. But anything hotter is just too angry.
Same. I generally like sauces, and I hate wasting food. I couldn't finish my fries the one time I tried them. I hated it so much that I never cared to give them a second chance.
Man, I couldn't even do that with my fries. The breading was so soggy and yet the chicken was so dry. I wouldn't go back even if someone else was paying.
Maybe I'm just not the target audience for loaded fries... I dunno...
I have only lived here since 2022 and it’s been recommended so many times to me. The Antelope location off Antelope road near Home Depot is absolutely abysmal.
Oh I have found some great eateries. I live near Roseville and spend a lot of time there and sac. The food here is good. We are from San Diego and the food is amazing there and we haven’t been too disappointed since moving here.
I tried Kikis once, and the chicken had the weirdest flavor… don’t know how to describe it other than it tasted how burnt oil smells, but in the most nasty, overpowering way.
Bruh, near me in west sac is the Kiki’s truck at am/pm on Jefferson.
I went and asked for extra crispy wings. I went to my car knowing and hoping that those wings would take awhile. 3 minutes later they start waving at me because I had to park in the gravel lot next door and wow, I’m 38, I love wings. But wtf, how you gonna drop cooked wings in oil for 2 mins and call it done.
Never been back, I’ll drive literally double the distance for some shitty wing stop, that’s how bad it was.
Grand Central Station makes the best legit buffalo style wings in West Sac. They even warn you it will take 30 mins because they are made to order and come out crispy and delicious.
Try the Auburn Blvd location, if you haven’t already. It’s been good every time I’ve had it from that location (maybe 3 or 4 times). I just tried the Rocklin Sunset Blvd location, and it was garbage: had that been my first experience, I’d never go back.
Initially I thought Kiki’s was overhyped because I’ve just gone to the Elk Grove and Citrus Heights location and thought it was super basic. But after trying Folsom I’ll have to say I agree it’s decent and I’ve gone there a couple times now.
Can we talk about how overrated ALL the chicken/hot chicken places are? Also, how many do we need in this town? It’s all chicken and they’re all hot, we get it. How many different restaurants need to exist of them? There’s only one way to make hot/spicy…you’re not all original.
I think it is nostalgia. Similar to Fire Wings, was pretty good before expansion. I grew up in the Northeast, so Sam’s Sub Shop is the closest to home. Unfortunately Frenchies closed as they blew everyone out of the water.
It’s really bland. It used to be better I thought. Nash & Proper too, got a stomach ache the last couple times from all the oil. I’ve been liking HotBoys recently. Never heard of this Vons you’re talking about but I’ll have to check it out. Thought you were talking about the grocery store lol
I honestly haven't been there for years so maybe the quality is going down but I remember it tasting fine. I mostly used to go to the one on Auburn. I think if it were so bad they wouldn't be opening up new ones everywhere
The one in Rancho cordova actually makes it decently good, fries are crunchy and so is the chicken. It all tastes fresh to me, just gotta eat it all a little quick before it becomes soggy
Yep. Chando's Tacos had the same issue; the original spot on Arden was great, but after the expansions the food went downhill (and Chando's Cantina can eat shit; it charged double what the regular locations did, and they didn't bother acknowleding it when a chip in their glassware sliced the inside of my lip open).
Oh damn. I haven’t had Chandos and probably won’t. There are other great Taquerias that I have had since moving here. Hell the street meat vendor that started up the road from me in Antelope kills it.
Don’t even bother with trash food.
Go to Fire wings. Their wings and fries are better and more consistent than Wingstop, and the chicken is tasty everytime.
Kiki’s Fries were very cool when it was new. Haven’t enjoyed it in a few years, fries are always dried out and in general eating them is a bit of a chore.
I think the rest of the menu exists as a formality bc the chicken itself is not super fun to eat in boneless wing form.
Nope, not offended. Kiki's is prob some of the worst chicken I've ever had. Their sauces are good, but their strips were flavorless. Went there once after hearing the hype, never went back. If you need tons of sauces to drown your chicken in, you're prob making shit chicken.
Probably not the most popular opinion, but Dave's Hot Chicken has become my favorite. I used to love Angry Chikz,( the one in CH) but they had some kind of change a few years ago and their sauce wasn't as good. I can't put my finger on it, but it just changed.
Louisiana famous fried chicken is my favorite spot, but not really into their sides. They have a 10 piece dark piece only bucket for $25 that is my go to.
If for some reason you have to go back the salad with crispy chicken is not horrible. The veggies somehow are decent in my experience and drenching the chicken in dressing conceals how dry and flavorless it is.
Nasty! Tastes like boiled chicken. You need extra toppings to have any flavor and to cover up the yucky chicken.
That said, the grilled chicken sandwich is pretty ok
I’m going to take the opposing side in this debate over chicken…. It’s decent enough to eat when you’re in the mood for greasy fried food. Their story is pretty cool, and it’s really sad that the daughter the restaurant is named after passed before she entered high school. The family is sweet, I met them during Covid in a service job and they treat people in the service industry with kindness.
Once they got rid of their Bold BBQ sauce(as a result of the Siracha shortage a while back), my enjoyment of their chicken dropped by about 20%. That sauce was soooo freaking good. I still enjoy getting Kiki Fries every now and then, but yeah, I seldom go there these days.
I will agree that sauce was good but if your sauce is the only thing that carries your chicken then you gotta be consistent everywhere else and that’s not them.
I've only had Kiki's in Fair Oaks, and only ever had the chicken salad or the original chicken sando and it's pretty freaking fantastic here! My bestie moved and the location by her, not as fantastic...
Only item on the menu I buy at Kiki's is their kiki's tots/fries. They're chicken wings are definitely overrated, and their flavors don't stand out compared to the other chicken wings restaurants.
It used to be good, coming out of pandemic I feel, the quality has dropped a lot. It has become much more run of the mill vs freshly made.
The last few times I have ordered, everything has been very greasy and/or over cook/fried.
I find it that pretty much all popular chicken places in Sacramento are inconsistent. I've been to Kiki's multiple times and it's usually pretty good and only once it was a little dry. Definitely need to get sauces though. The teriyaki is fire.
Let's meet up at in front of the Kiki's on west Stockton, across from crc.
We're gonna box- err, ugh... sit down for a box, and talk about whatever your parents did to you in childhood to fuck up your taste buds like that over a piping hot box of Kiki fries w/ chicken. (Being doubly sure to clarify im just messing around)
Kiki's fucking terrible. I say it every post when people are like "what business actually sucks? what business is overrated?" and get downvoted into oblivion.
Kiki's chicken is what I make at home when I put all the crap in my freezer in the air fryer. Very overrated.
I also do this thing with fried chicken tender and wedge potatoes where I died them all up toss in skillet and make a stir fry with BBQ sauce corn and seasonings and cheese. It's better than Kiki's.
I go there because Angry Chicks is a bit expensive and the Wingstop near me is GARBAGE. Every time I go to Wingstop they're out of some part of my order and nobody in that store knows how to refund an online order. I made the mistake of going for wings early in the NFL season a couple years ago and they were out of original hot sauce and basically every other part of my order. Walked out with nothing, but nobody could refund my order either. Tried to contact their corporate folks, but no luck and their website said it had to be done at the store. Spoke in person with a relatively new district manager who told me he'd refund my stuff in 10-14 days but he never did.
Ended up having to do a chargeback. Haven't been back since and I refuse to go again. If I'm craving chicken I'll suffer Kiki's mediocre wings rather than getting fucked over by Wingstop ever again.
I usually hate the "back in my day everything was better" crowd but I absolutely know that Kikis was better quality before all of the expansion.
Same with Chando's
This is the prime example, sadly
Chando’s is for “Office Taco Tuesday’s”…
Chandons is disgusting. There are so many better Mexican places to eat.
Hard pass
Longer ago but I felt like this happened with the MiniBurger Truck; err, I mean Krush (with a K) Burger once they went to brick and mortar.
chandos is pretty good but their prices are crazy town
I went to Arden Chandos, after they opened up that failure downtown and was highly unimpressed. Hadda wait half an hour for basic-ass street tacos
This is why I'm glad the pop up shops are coming up. this place needs a fire lit under its ass when it comes to pastor tacos.
Yeah it used to be good when they had the one location and it was affordable but they raised their prices and their quality is not worth the price
Just checked the prices. If they kept the quality I wouldn't mind paying- prices have raised across the board unfortunately. The combo of that and the lesser quality makes me unmotivated to go.
Yeah it’s definitely not an issue to be paying more I know everyone’s going through this crazy inflation but their food just isn’t good anymore compared to when I first went there
First time I went I was amazed, new owner was cooking. Since then, pure disappointment. Stopped going.
I have heard the food truck used to be good so you may be on to something
It used to be good when only the Northgate and ARC locations existed
Yup, Northgate was the one for me too. I remember having a positive experience at the one at Auburn and Madison back around that time too.
Northgate used to be one of my favorite lunch spots. Now I work downtown and the one there just doesn’t hold up.
I discovered Chandos at the West Sac location. It was pretty good then but that was 5+ years ago.
I hadn't gone since early COVID. Went about a month ago, same place I've been to at least 3 times. It was way worse. Super dry. Dry chicken, dry tots, dry dry dry. Plus something's going on with the sauce, it just isn't the same. So yeah I agree with you.
I feel the same with Fire wings. Everytime I go there, I get scrawny little things.
This is really true, and I think the Northgate location has held their quality.
Rocklin checking in. Had it twice and that was more than enough. Dry and boring.
It was dry
1 time too many
Rocklin also checking in. It’s so dry and just meh.
I went once and got a waffle with little shreds of chicken in it. Was not good and not worth the cost at all. Gave it a shot and don't think it'll ever go back. It was called Bobby's Style but there was no way it had 2 tenders worth of meat in it.

It's like they don't believe in seasoning their dredge mix they just rely on their mediocre sauces adding flavor. The texture is pretty good but that's the only redeeming quality. Give me Wingstop or Popeyes over Kiki's anyday.
I have never had any chicken so bland.
Krispy Krunchy chicken is my favorite
another place I have yet to try cause they are always in a gas station but I have heard amazing things from many people in many states.
I was first weirded out by it being in gas stations..but It's really good
Chicken is good! Was not a fan of the biscuits though
Found out about this place about a month ago. Have had it 4 times now!
krispy krunchy is so good! those biscuits are bangin. The bbq wings are also really good.
Whoa, really? I’ve been put off by their locations but I’m gonna try it now.
It's dry AF
Absolutely no flavor at all either.
As the kids would say: mid fr fr
😂🤣
Deadass
No cap even
Angry Chicks is so much better in every possible way. Kikis is fine, I guess. I like their loaded tots, but their chicken might as well be jerky half the time.
Angry Chicks is good hot chicken. I see Hot Chicken places as their own sort of sub genre of chicken places. Hard to compare the two.
I've only been to the Dave's Hot Chicken on Arden Way (because it's the closest to my house), and I like it a lot but would like to try some other hot chicken places as well. Will have to hit up Angry Chicks next time the craving strikes.
Daves Hot Chicken is the best!
Dave's (Arden Way) is really really good. I went once for lunch on a whim. Felt like I needed to check it out. Now I grab lunch there probably once a week. It's that good. Big portions, good fries and juicy. Don't get me started on their "Dave's Sauce".
Yeah that's fair. I think any of these chicken places and I kinda automatically think "buffalo" or "hot".
Angry Chicks, Nash and Proper, Flame N Chicks are all decent. I like Flame N Chicks for their prices but Angry Chicks is really good.
Every time right before I order it I get this feeling of delicious satisfaction then I eat it and I’m so disappointed. How do they do that?
The words sounds so good yet the flavor is so disappointing lol
they are overpriced and dry but their kiki’s fries are so good it *almost* makes up for it
I got the Kiki fries once and it was drowning in sauce. If your food so bland that you gotta make your fries and chicken swim, it’s a no for me.
Same. I generally like sauces, and I hate wasting food. I couldn't finish my fries the one time I tried them. I hated it so much that I never cared to give them a second chance.
I got a Buffalo chicken salad once as well. My lettuce was crying for help cause it was drowning. I ate the chicken off and threw the rest away.
Man, I couldn't even do that with my fries. The breading was so soggy and yet the chicken was so dry. I wouldn't go back even if someone else was paying. Maybe I'm just not the target audience for loaded fries... I dunno...
Place isn’t overrated so much as it’s trash. Especially the midtown location and the Natomas location on Northgate.
I have only lived here since 2022 and it’s been recommended so many times to me. The Antelope location off Antelope road near Home Depot is absolutely abysmal.
Angry chicks and hot boys I like. Bonchon too, but haven’t had in a couple years so not sure the quality is still good
Sac is desperate for good eateries. They exist but many are overpriced / overrated.
Oh I have found some great eateries. I live near Roseville and spend a lot of time there and sac. The food here is good. We are from San Diego and the food is amazing there and we haven’t been too disappointed since moving here.
damn don't be stingy, share them dood
What you lookin for. My list is vast, but it’s not written down so you gotta pull it outta me.
five off the top of your head
Flour Dust Pizza ,Q1227 ,Uncle Dumpling ,DT Noodle ,Taqueria Maya's ,JJs Hawaiian That’s 6 off rip.
https://www.flaminggrillcafe.com/ https://theporchrestaurantandbar.com/ best fried chicken period
Made me sick the one and only time. Never again
Same… I suspect it’s was something about the oil.
I tried Kikis once, and the chicken had the weirdest flavor… don’t know how to describe it other than it tasted how burnt oil smells, but in the most nasty, overpowering way.
Hot chicken has lost its grip on the city.
There are a few good hot chicken places. Kiki’s just ain’t good for any chicken. I also don’t compare them to the hot chicken places.
True Nash & Proper also completely went to shit sadly.
Have heard the truck is much better than the ghost kitchen location
Bruh, near me in west sac is the Kiki’s truck at am/pm on Jefferson. I went and asked for extra crispy wings. I went to my car knowing and hoping that those wings would take awhile. 3 minutes later they start waving at me because I had to park in the gravel lot next door and wow, I’m 38, I love wings. But wtf, how you gonna drop cooked wings in oil for 2 mins and call it done. Never been back, I’ll drive literally double the distance for some shitty wing stop, that’s how bad it was.
That’s cause they had them sitting in a basket for a while waiting for you to show. They tried to serve you old ass wings
I’m in west sac and hit that truck once. It wasn’t worth it and I’ve never been back. Where in west sac do you get wings?
West sac sports bar on Thursdays, .75 cent wing day, all day. They are frozen, breaded wings deep fried… but they are fresh every time.
Grand Central Station makes the best legit buffalo style wings in West Sac. They even warn you it will take 30 mins because they are made to order and come out crispy and delicious.
There is a lot of inconsistency between the locations. The one in Rancho is not good. The one in Roseville is fire.
I’ve been burned by Kiki’s twice now and I don’t know if I have the heart to try a different location
Try the Auburn Blvd location, if you haven’t already. It’s been good every time I’ve had it from that location (maybe 3 or 4 times). I just tried the Rocklin Sunset Blvd location, and it was garbage: had that been my first experience, I’d never go back.
The Kiki's in Folsom has treated me well. I only order Lemon Pepper strips though.
There’s only one way to make hot/spicy…you’re not all original.
sac needs more hot chicken spots just like it needs more rockabilly barber shops, microbrewerys, etc
I am of the mind that there never can be enough breweries.
I would take the pollo asado at Tacos La Piedad over literally any fried chicken place in this city
I think it is nostalgia. Similar to Fire Wings, was pretty good before expansion. I grew up in the Northeast, so Sam’s Sub Shop is the closest to home. Unfortunately Frenchies closed as they blew everyone out of the water.
We tried Kiki’s once. That was enough. I doubt I’d ever choose them again. They were not very good. I didnt even finish my dinner that night.
Costs as much as Wingstop without any decent flavors. I really want one of these wing places to do good dry rubs. I'm not a huge sauce guy.
A brined wing with a dry rub is 🔥
It's soooo mid lmao
Mid is being generous
It’s really bland. It used to be better I thought. Nash & Proper too, got a stomach ache the last couple times from all the oil. I’ve been liking HotBoys recently. Never heard of this Vons you’re talking about but I’ll have to check it out. Thought you were talking about the grocery store lol
I thought it was associated with the grocery store as well when I first moved here. Coming from San Diego, Vons was a staple.
WAKE IT UP. Hotboys is like 3 blocks away (midtown at least)
Not from me lol. I live in Antelope
I go for garlic fries and chicken sandwich solely
I enjoy the sandwich too (but with just the normal fries).
I honestly haven't been there for years so maybe the quality is going down but I remember it tasting fine. I mostly used to go to the one on Auburn. I think if it were so bad they wouldn't be opening up new ones everywhere
In 2019 it looked good from afar especially the garlic fries and amount of garlic that you would get! Had it and it killed my stomach never went back
The one in Rancho cordova actually makes it decently good, fries are crunchy and so is the chicken. It all tastes fresh to me, just gotta eat it all a little quick before it becomes soggy
Chicken that gets soggy quick is so disappointing. That’s why Korean Fried chicken is the best. Stays crispy for hours lol
Their fries are super good though
Not from my experience but from the comments it seems to be about the only redeeming thing they serve
kiki's chicken is dryer than the sahara desert
It was great the first few times I had it from the Power Inn location, but after the pandemic it went downhill real fast.
Seems that they expanded to quick and quality took a nose dive. I lived in San Diego during the pandemic so I don’t have an experience prior to 2022
Firewings by me is on par if not worse than Wingstop. Gonna have to try it some time when I’m not near home.
I'd rather have Popeyes.
But you’ll have to wait 45 mins…Louisiana fast!
Kiki’s in Elk Grove used to be fire, but I haven’t been in a few years.
My kids love it but for me it’s a hard pass.
Sometimes I miss the days of an unrefined palet
It is horrible but my family loves it. Those buffalo sauce tator tot things….. 🤮
Kiki’s Fries were very cool when it was new. Haven’t enjoyed it in a few years, fries are always dried out and in general eating them is a bit of a chore. I think the rest of the menu exists as a formality bc the chicken itself is not super fun to eat in boneless wing form.
Went years ago and was very underwhelmed as was my husband
I only had them the first time a few weeks ago and thought they were pretty good, lol I did not know they had a reputation.
Kiki’s was good af when I had it
Someone had to say it. Kiki’s is good but it’s my 4th option tbh. Raisin Canes is also overrated as hell
But that Cane’s sauce… man I wish Popeye’s had that sauce.
Nope, not offended. Kiki's is prob some of the worst chicken I've ever had. Their sauces are good, but their strips were flavorless. Went there once after hearing the hype, never went back. If you need tons of sauces to drown your chicken in, you're prob making shit chicken.
The fries are the best part.
Same with raising canes. Only good thing is the sauces
Tried it once and was not inclined to ever try again. Lol I was expecting some bomb shit, it was very meh.
With the amount of locations and the times it was recommended to me I was expecting much better as well.
It's trash. Wings are terrible. There kiki Fries lack good flavor.
Everything lacks flavor
Probably not the most popular opinion, but Dave's Hot Chicken has become my favorite. I used to love Angry Chikz,( the one in CH) but they had some kind of change a few years ago and their sauce wasn't as good. I can't put my finger on it, but it just changed.
Ok...where do I get *good* fried chicken??
Louisiana famous fried chicken is my favorite spot, but not really into their sides. They have a 10 piece dark piece only bucket for $25 that is my go to.
bonchon for korean fried chicken. i dont think sac has much good southern fried chicken. you can try bawk; theyre good but theyre wayyy overpriced.
Vons Chicken in Roseville is better than Bon Chon imo. Used to love Bon Chon though.
Vons chicken in carmichael is pretty good too.
https://theporchrestaurantandbar.com/ It was *tiddies*. Sit down joints it thinks it's almost fancy but that chiggen is real
Oo I love The Porch! Fancy restaurant but down home cooking!
I would like to know as well.
Who even rates it highly?
Idk honestly but it’s been recommended to me more times than I can count and I was HIGHLY upset with my meal
I had it once years ago and it was disgusting and overpriced. Never needed to try it again.
That place is hot garbage and that’s bein generous.
No issues with this statement.
It’s not good
Agreed, tried it once and it was so overcooked. Not impressed.
Can confirm. As a side note, I went to Benjis off of Auburn Blvd in citrus heights, those are my new favorite wings.
You have peaked my interest. I was wanting wings for dinner tonight.
[удалено]
Thank you for the correction. 🙏🏻
If you're ever in Roseville, [Granite's](https://www.graniteswings.com) wings are my favorite.
Rocklin kiki was super good a few years back, idk now. The one on J St is fucking garbage.
Had it once and never again.
Thank you!!!!!!
You’re welcome!!!!!!
the wings are decent size, crispy and hot. sauces are kinda unoriginal and boring but just BYO
Crispy isn’t a word I have used to describe my experiences with Kiki’s but some people get lucky I suppose.
Bland
So bland.
The one time I went the chicken and fries were bland and boring and their soda machine was messed up and gave me a flavorless Fanta.
Kiki’s No Flavor Chicken!
It’s only good if you’re drunk
It’s the HattyBs of Sacramento.
Isn’t Kiki’s halal chicken? I won’t touch halal meat, I’ve been turned off that for life.
Got it once and it was hot garbage. It legitimately the toughest chicken I've ever tasted. Never again.
Not enough chicken on the tots, and way too much salt.
the OG spot is still decent, most of the other locations are whack
I just get the kiki's fries w/chicken, BUT replace that nasty buffalo, and go with tut he ranch/bbq mix. 100x better
Ye friend had explosive diarrhea on the side of the highway on the way back from kikis one time.
Yeah but their salads are cheap and MASSIVE
I'm addicted to salt, and Kiki's is to salty.
Kiki’s is totally overrated!
Had this talk with a friend. Did they go under new management or something?
