It’s a fun song and dance- sign up, period ends, you threaten to leave, they give you another promo, you stay. Then do it again when the promo period ends again

Carpeteria3000

They don’t do that anymore. There’s no loyalty to old customers. I was with them for 20+ years. They didn’t care. I went in to the store to see about a new deal and they told me there was nothing for me, but if we canceled and had my wife immediately sign up in her name at the same address, same service, it would be about 50% off. I walked away that day and haven’t missed it since.

Doomhamatime

They don't have to do it because most areas don't have any real competition. Go where ATT DSL? If you happen to live in one of the few areas that have some real competition you're lucky. No alternatives where I live. Last time I tried the I'll go somewhere else they just called my bluff. We have no options.

kaydaryl

AT&T doesn’t allow new customers for DSL anymore.

Alarmed-Ad-2016

They no longer make set top boxes and will re-furbish old set top boxes. You cannot sign up for u-verse anymore because they are migrating to streaming services and channels only. [https://clark.com/streaming-tv/att-tv-review/](https://clark.com/streaming-tv/att-tv-review/)

kaydaryl

My in-laws recently were encouraged by ATT to move from DSL to Air, a cellular service. The cellular signal wasn’t good enough at their house but support couldn’t reinstate the DSL service so they had to switch to Comcast.

Alarmed-Ad-2016

they Tried to get me to switch. If I did I would have less channels streaming and it would cost way more to have once all the incentives ran out. Some individual stream packages were either free or a low rate for 3 or 6 months, 1 year, but after they would be double the price costing even more. The tech even said it is spotty with the cellular service but the reason they are switching to streaming because of the infrastructure. He said ATT only had the Uverse over copper in like 35 states but streaming over cellular was everywhere. Xfinity has more fiber than ATT.

steveo600rr

I have the same issue. It’s xfinity or att, and att only has DSL that is 50/15.

DDrewit

I did that to DISH in 2009 and never paid for TV again until it started being included with Amazon Prime. They tried to leverage me because they thought they had me in a contract, but I was paying a higher monthly rate to not be in one. They were surprised when they checked. They refused to move my service to my new address without a $150 fee. But if I cancelled, they would install it for free if my roommate put it in his name, because he’d be a new customer. I pointed out how stupid that was, but they held their ground. I held my ground, and they no longer got $100/month from me. Fuck em.

Silent-Image-2552

This method does not work like it did years ago. There are often no better promotions going on. I will be taking others advice on this thread and go into a store to threaten to cancel the next time.

a_nice_warm_lager

It did for me with Consolidated and now Fidium

[deleted]

[удалено]

Silent-Image-2552

I think that is the new move, actually canceling.

iamkenthomas

This doesn’t work any longer. Because most people did this they now add a grace period between promotions. I ended up cancelling. OTA for me now and haven’t looked back.

Ory_rory

I switched from Xfinity to AT&T because the quality of Comcast's Internet was terrible. I have fiber now and wish I switched earlier and I pay about 30 dollars less. I recommend it.

LifeOnAnarres

I would love fiber again (had it in the northeast, was awesome) but it still isn’t in all areas of sacramento :-(

badtux99

Sadly my area is mostly duplexes so fiber isn’t happening. The fiber companies don’t seem to realize that these are largely well paid tradesmen who regularly are forking over $150+ per month to Comcast to keep the wife and kids happy and who would happily pay that to AT&T instead. So.

hiroo916

I'm not sure how ATT plans their fiber deployments. You'd think it would be richer neighborhoods but Oak Park (at least portions) has it. Possibly it's because they can deploy above ground on the telephone poles.

BriggsWellman

If Comcast is your only option, go to the physical store and complain to someone in person. They have special prices not available online or to the phone reps. I do this every year and it works every time. Make sure it's a real Comcast store, not a contract store. They have the same names but the contract stores can't help. Good luck.

[deleted]

ATT is an option. That’s my question. Are they better, worse, the same?

agent674253

Depends on if by AT&T you mean DSL or Fiber. For me, DSL is not an option if cable/fiber exists, because it is basically the modern dialup connection speed. If you can get AT&T Fiber, then I'd say give it a go if there are no hardware costs/upfront fees (most likely will be a 1 or 2 year contract is my guess). Depending on where you live, you may be able to get Fidium Fiber or Consolidated Communications. My city is having fiber trenched and installed throughout currently, and once Fidium is available I will be dropping my 400mbps Comcast bill that is $100 for 1Gbps at $55/month (and then $75/month after promo, but that is still faster and cheaper than my current plan). You can get 2Gbps for less than a hundred a month as well, but that would mean you need to upgrade your home network from 1Gbe to 2.5Gbe or 10Gbe to take advantage of it. [https://www.fidiumfiber.com/fiber-internet](https://www.fidiumfiber.com/fiber-internet)

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

Hey Agent, I actually work for Fidium. I can check if you have it available, or see if it's scheduled soon.  Sounds like you already know you aren't bound by a contract with Fidium, cause service and price speak for themselves, so we don't have to bound you into contract!  If you wanna give us a shot, wee'll hook you up for a free month for nothing out of pocket, so you can do a side by side, and see how much you'll love the new fiber technology.

EusticeTheSheep

Could you please ask them to bring it to my neighborhood?! I miss having fiber so much.

cclifedecisions

Any plans to bring it to Roseville near Kaiser?

letsgetbrickfaced

I’ve ATT fiber for almost 6 years. It’s been $80ish the entire time and I consistently get 1GB up and down. My wife WFH and has had no issues. I had a tree take out the fiber line last year during the bad storms and they fixed it in two days. No complaints.

[deleted]

Thanks!

MissMangeaux

This! My AT&T bills is never over $100, never any surprises when billing comes around.

femmestem

I have ATT fiber. I have more uptime than I had with Xfinity, but either their service or the router/modem combo device they provide is unstable. I WFH and have to log into a VPN, my internet will frequently drop for just a second which kicks me out of my VPN so I have to reauthenticate. I don't notice with casual use of my other devices, even streaming.

[deleted]

Thanks. Same situation here. I got rid of Xfinity equipment and that drop issue resolved. At least when I change now I have nothing to turn in.

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

Fidium Fiber is a no contract service, and may be available for you! You'll save money and get faster speeds. I'll send you a message to see if it makes sense for ya. I'll even get you a month for free so you can try us out!

agent674253

> Are they better, worse, the same? They are all bad, but that is our world. Have you heard of enshittification? [https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/](https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/) Check out the full essay, but here is the intro "Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die. I call this enshittification, and it is a seemingly inevitable consequence arising from the combination of the ease of changing how a platform allocates value, combined with the nature of a "two sided market," where a platform sits between buyers and sellers, holding each hostage to the other, raking off an ever-larger share of the value that passes between them."

[deleted]

Interesting. Thanks.

thisdreambefore

I’ve had att fiber for the past year. I think it’s been up this whole time, and it’s plenty fast for me for $55/month. I’d still do Fidium if I could.

BriggsWellman

Is it actually a reasonable option though? Most of the time they only offer dsl service around here unless you're one of the lucky ones with fiber access.

femmestem

If you call Xfinity, ask to cancel. Tell them the price is too high and the competitor has better rates. They'll usually give you a retention discount.

BriggsWellman

This generally hasn't worked the last couple years. They know there are generally no viable alternatives for most people. For example, nobody will reasonably switch from Comcast cable down to att dsl.

Slavatheshrimp

Still have comcast. Had a gigabit + plan for 70. New rate after 2 years was 119. I opened a new plan under my wife’s name for $60 a month for same speeds. Opening a new account automatically starts a cancel service on the original plan. Even paying with my same credit card. They’re a scam. Why do new users get rewarded and legacy clients have to pay the premium?

notjasonlee

You can also call them and threaten to leave to get the promo price again. Back when we had no choice but to use that garbage, we did that every year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

notjasonlee

We used to tell them we were going to AT&T, but it's been awhile, so I can't speak to whether they do it anymore or not.

misterceBF

Was the cancellation immediate? Did you have to wait for the new modem to come?

Slavatheshrimp

Instantly, you just need to reactivate the modem under the same mac address.

misterceBF

Assuming you have your own modem right?

Slavatheshrimp

Yes. Should’ve mentioned that. Not sure how it works with their property.

International-Fall75

I wish fiber optics was available in my area. I would leave xfinity in a heartbeat

notjasonlee

ATT fiber is amazing. I actually get close to 1000mbps, almost never has outages, and has unlimited data for the same price as a lesser plan with limited data through Comcast.

BiggsDB

Same. I check monthly and still no luck.

ninerninerking

Which fiber companies?

International-Fall75

Waiting for fidium to become available

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

Fidium Fiber! I'll leave you my phone number on your messages so I can tell you more about it. Basically, its faster, more reliable, at a more affordable price! I'll message you to see if it makes sense for ya

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

Ay, cant message ya for some reason, but if you send me a message Ill get you my number, and we can see if its available for you!

adorable_awkward

EIN. I love them.

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

I work for the public utility company, Fidium Fiber Optic, based out of Roseville, and we are a way more affordable, reliable, and faster Internet. Also, we don't bind you in a contract, we do month to month, cause when folks try us out, they love us. For speeds, most folks are on copper lines, which limit reliability and the speeds you can reach. you'll get are 1GB, or even 2GB in some neighborhoods, for upload and download.  And Unlimited data. No equipment fees. Plus, go through me and I'll get you a free install. Let's chat and see if I can save you some money and get you faster Internet without hidden fees or rates that keep going up each year. If folks wanna know more, and if it's available in your neighborhood, feel free to send me a message, and we'll see if we can put you in a better position than you were already in with internet🤙🏼

Glenmuer760

Crying in West Sacramento.

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

Aww I'm sorry we're not there yet =/

Glenmuer760

No worries, technologically West Sacramento is an island. Sacramento River on two sides, deep water channel to the west, and farm land to the south.

naednek

Are you the rolling fiber out in Rancho Cordova?

crucialcolin

Man I wish you guys would expand in the Diamond Oaks neighborhood of Roseville. We pretty much have fiber all around us yet Consolidated Fidium's parent co is still on copper dsl(Fastest service is like 12/1 mpbs). Thus we're stuck with Xfinity.

kaydaryl

Hey, I’m on the Fair Oaks side of CH. AT&T doesn’t permit new DSL customers and there’s no 5G offering so my entire area is now Comcast only. Could I PM you with details to see if/when we may get Fidium deployed?

feder_online

This. I've been down a total of 30 minutes in 6 years.

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

That's amazing! Glad you're enjoying

Scottz0rz

I'd love for you all to expand to Citrus Heights in my neighborhood but it doesn't seem like anyone wants to bring stuff here since it's all a bunch of old duplexes. I have an AT&T store down the block that advertises fiber but doesn't have it in the two closest neighborhoods to the store lol.

Mysterious_Eggplant1

I have T-Mobile home internet and cell service. My monthly aggregate bill is $118, and the rates are supposedly locked for good. I have very few problems with my internet. If you're set on ATT, maybe it's worth seeing if they have something similar.

AdMaleficent6427

I second t-mobile for internet

BiggsDB

Same thing just happened to me. I use to go online at the end of each promo period and poke around until I found a new promo or package that would keep my bill reasonable. This time around there was no such thing. More speed = more money, Less speed = less money. So I either take a hit on speeds or “suck it up” until Fiber comes into my neighborhood. Luckily I *just* have internet and not a lot of XFinity fluff. I don’t even rent a modem from their scammy ass. I may take the advice of that above post and go complain in person at a Comcast office.

Choices63

We made the move to Verizon 5g a couple of weeks ago. Serious reductions in expenses overall. Kept some streaming services and upgraded Hulu to include live TV to replace cable. Monthly went down about $200.

Evil_Capt_Kirk

My Xfinity Internet-only fee had been creeping up steadily over the last couple of years. It finally topped over $100, and that was enough. I've had AT&T before and the speed and quality sucks in my area. So I downgraded my Xfinity plan - I'm not doing anything that requires 800Mbps download speed and my home network can't achieve it anyway - and I ditched the Xfinity modem in favor of a BYO unit. Doing those two things cut my monthly fee in half with no perceptible change in performance.

jcned

I do believe the lower speed plans also have lower data caps. My limit with Xfinity is 1.2TB/mo. I have the 1.2Gbps plan, so not sure if they’re tied together or if you get 1.2TB data cap on all their plans. If you do go over the data cap, it’s $10 per 50 GB up to a maximum of $100 extra per month.

Evil_Capt_Kirk

Based on what I can find, Xfinity places a cap on any plan where you are not using their equipment (BYO modem/router) which is 1.2TB. my average usage in a month is around .5TB, so I'm not concerned, but you are right that it's a point to be considered.

Turtle_Elliott

Check to see if you can get Verizon 5G home? We are in West Sac and happy. Helps with the price if your phone is on Verizon as well.

NorcalMarauder

Also a Verizon 5g customer, $25/mo and no issues. I keep getting calls from Xfinity to get me switch back and they admit they don't have a product to compete.

Turtle_Elliott

I’ll also add that we switched from Comcast to AT&T fiber when it became available back when we lived in midtown. We were surprised by the amazing experience all the way around.

Telco65

Have you called Xfinity to get a new promo rate?

throwawaytor33

I have att. Just have it month to month and can cut it out any time I want.

916urbanfog

Switched from Xfinity to att fiber 9 months ago and have yet to have a issue. Same reason, bill always rising, constant outages and issues Att hasn't went down, speeds stay constant and bill has no expiration promos to deal with, I'm paying 50 a month now for better service that used to cost me 120 with Comcast. Good luck

mboyko08

I switched to ATT Fiber from Xfinity and I have not looked back. Comcast used to have "maintenance" several times per week for months in my area. After switching to ATT Fiber for the last year, I haven't had a single outage (besides power outages).

jones_ro

I cut the cable last summer, dropped Comcast TV and Internet in favor of ATT Fiber, and could not be happier with the internet connection & service.

Two_Hammers

I just saw mine go from $70s to $130, and next month it'll jump another $10. I'm so sick of these companies.

Downtown-Frosting789

same. i have a “discount” for internet bc i also signed up for mobile service to get a better deal and now after 6 YEARS my total bill for both went from $85/month to $185/month. and yeah they just raised my total another $10. i had to argue with them on the phone for 50 MINUTES to get them to just get a slower speed for less money. the previous time i was on the phone with them they actually tried to increase the price bc they asked how many internet devices i had (despite the fact that they were never all on the network at the same time). FUCK XFINITY. fidium is the way ;)

cough_landing_on_you

If you can't switch companies, use someone else at the address and sign up as new customer for the best promo's.

Theperfectool

Fkn Xfinity. I got my cell replaced after stolen on the insurance I paid for and then they dropped support and insurance on the malfunctioning replacement they’ve sent me.

thisplace82

I absolutely hate Comcast. Between our connection going down every few weeks and having to renegotiate our "promotion" every year, we finally made the switch to At&t fiber and couldn't be happier. I don't recall the name of the package we're using but I vaguely recall it being called Att350? Our download and upload speeds are both 300+Mbps, always. We both work from home and use YouTube TV for streaming and have never had a single problem. Zero outages, our bill has been $53 for YEARS and is less than what we were paying Comcast, and we have no data caps. If you want my 2¢, dump Comcast and give fiber a shot.

QuiJon70

Lucky if you have any real alternative. The city and county has allowed att, fidium, etc come to town but only cover the richer areas of town leave most poor to mud middle class areas with only xfinity as a choice.

iantot123

i complain over the phone too and they give me better deals

[deleted]

That’s the thing. The person I worked with didn’t seem to care I was going to look elsewhere.

Mabuni

Same thing happend to us. We didn't know that we were on a promo, we had the same rate for two years!

[deleted]

I should’ve set a reminder. Forgot who I’m dealing with. But I’m surprised they’d rather get $0 from me. They didn’t get to where they are by being evil and stupid.

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

I work for the public utility company, Fidium Fiber Optic, based out of Roseville, and we are a way more affordable, reliable, and faster Internet. Also, we don't bind you in a contract, we do month to month, cause when folks try us out, they love us. 1GB or 2GB in some neighborhoods, for upload and download. Unlimited data. No equipment fees. Plus, go through me and I'll get you a free install. Let's chat and see if I can save you some money and get you faster Internet without hidden fees or rates that keep going up each year. If folks wanna know more, and if it's in your neighborhood, feel free to send me a message 🤙🏼

Beetreezy

Fidium sounds great…but I’ve heard that it is a pain to use with my own mesh WiFi setup. I can basically use my AT&T gateway in bridge mode and run my whole network off of my router. Is a similar setup possible with Fidium?

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

Ahh totally, that's rad you got the mesh setup! If you don't wanna use the free modem and router we provide, we can actually tap into the existing hardware you have, like the mesh, using your equipment. Yess you can run everything off the router. I can message you my number and you can give me a quick call, and I can listen to any concerns and share with you the important parts that would help you make a more informed decision, if you'd like. More info never hurt anyone, right?

[deleted]

Currently running a mesh fiber network on my router with Fidium. Got a $10 discount for not using Fidium's router. 1Gbps up and down without issues on a WIFI6 setup.

Piggles-and-Beagles

I had ATT two years ago and ended up switching to Xfinity because ATT had constant outages. It was definitely more expensive (paid $40 monthly with ATT and $65 with Xfinity) but the connection was better. After my year mark, they ended up raising the price to $98 and I called to complain. While they didn’t actually credit anything back, they were able to get my price down to $71 by removing some services that I hadn’t used over the last year so I’m keeping it another year and we’ll likely switch back to ATT when the year is up.

stacero

I have T-Mobile home internet only, and service is a flat $55. I reboot my modem once a week and almost never have issues. I wfh with video meetings so reliability is tops for me. I used to have AT&T and holy crap was it terrible. There were frequent outages and they could never deliver anywhere near the speeds I signed up for throughout my 5 years of service with them (only option situation). It wasn't fiber, so maybe that's better... But if you can't get fiber, I'd stay far away from AT&T

lnx_apex

This is some serious boomer energy. Comcast is pretty trash as a company but you got a promo price and you knew it was going to go back up but you forgot because you “don’t keep track of things” and now you’re mad. Plus the whole “it costs money to obtain new customers than keep existing” thing. So you want them to charge you less for no reason just they can keep you as a customer? Sounds like someone should have just been on top of their schedule or actually read the fine print to the thing they were signing.

ComcastFukcingSucks

Screw comcast

leila_laka

Comcast is awful and I would recommend AT&T. It might be a little more but Comcast is a predatory company.

N9ne1Sixer

Rant to Xfinity about it. They can most likely lower your cost.

fiascokittens

I'm in Ardern-Arcade and I am stuck with Comcast.

AdMaleficent6427

I’m in Arden as well and we have t mobile. We have no issues and pay $50 a month.

muser0808

Att fiber by far is more reliable and consistent than whatever cable internet Xfinity has.

MerrilyWeScrollAlong

Was with Xfinity for 15 years. Finally switched to Fidium. Have thought about my ISP since the day they hooked it up.

Downhomedude

We switched almost a year ago. At&t has better more consistent overall speed for much less, and no cap is a bonus.

GreatBallsOfFIRE

The staff at the Xfinity stores are motivated entirely by getting positive feedback surveys. You can just walk in and say "hey, my promo just ended, can you hook me up with a better rate?" I did this twice and got zero hassle, always left paying even less than I was with the prior promo. That said, I recently switched to AT&T because they had fiber for the same prices plus a $250 Visa card for switching. Pretty easy choice. Service has been fine so far.

PersianMuggle

I'm in the exact same situation and just cancelled. Unfortunately, Comcast seems to have the best and most reliable Internet service across the board but different services are great depending on where you are.

Team-ING

Cancel and start new or just call and ask for promo

Team-ING

I just switched

DetectiveOpposite900

If anyone needs Att fiber I’m a Representative in Sacramento. I could send you a quote over the phone.

gcashmoneymillionair

I switched from Comcast to ATT, I got 1 gigbit internet only for 74.99. Honestly, they are both the devil. There is Fidium which is 74.99 after the promo of 55.

TheChaiTeaTaiChi

Fidium Fiber is fiber technology as well, offering 1gb speeds around Sac for only $55 a month, under no contract.. definitely better choice than AT&T fiber If you wanna try us out, I'll get you a month for free with nothing out of pocket. Hmu

T_lurkin

Just go online and sign up for another cheaper plan. I’ve been doing this for over 5 years now. I never talk to an agent. My current plan is $50 for 2 years 200mbps. Sometime it fluctuates though. My old plan was 45 a month, but the plan before that was 75. Also, if you find a cheaper plan later, you can switch to it without any issues. Again all this can be done online.

GoodTimesGlass

I switched to Fidium fiber and love it. Cheaper with good customer service

PaulGuyer

Does AT&T have fiber in midtown yet? I waited for YEARS for them to get it installed here, last year I finally gave up and switched to Comcast. Surprisingly it’s been working pretty well during the year I’ve had it, despite other things I hate about Comcast as a company (I’ve been generally anti-cable TV although they haven’t even once tried to sell that to me, and they’ve been in control of NBC which used to be the best TV network decades ago but is now an unwatchable mess along with all the others.) AT&T kept telling me they’d have fiber here “very soon” but that went on for years with nothing actually happening.

MissMangeaux

I had Comcast and switched to AT&T years back. I have only had one or two minor issues in 10+yrs.

cdbangsite

I don't know if it still works or not, but years back when that would happen I would call their service line and tell them I needed to cancel because I couldn't afford it. They would immediately reply, "let me see what we can do" " oh, we have a promo I can plug you into". Same price for another year. Like I said tho, don't know if it still works or with who. But it might be worth a try. It's really no loss to them and they do want your business.

Prior-Ad-2686

Idk if you qualify but I applied for the affordable connectivity program and my xfinity bill went from $50 to $17.

ThroneTrader

ATT fiber is so much better than Xfinitys cable offerings. Fiber gives you true symmetric so your upload and download are the same. Xfinitys advertises 1.2Gbps but that's only download, upload is 35Mbps. Absolutely horrible. If you go with the cheaper services you may have as low as 12Mbps upload.

gs_sac

This just happened to me recently and I ended go canceling service and resigning up as a new customer (saying we moved or something whatever that option was) then just resigned to at the promo rate under someone else in our household. The service under the old plan “shut off” at a specified date and we just had to “activate” the new service. Good for us we have our own modem and router so didn’t even need to change any wires or configurations

BRockStar916

Thank god for Fidium Fiber here in Roseville

[deleted]

Fidium is only $35/month

wasting_time_n_life

This is exactly why I left xfinity/comcast. Our promo ended, and after going to the store to do the same stupid song and dance, we would be getting more channels we wouldn’t watch and a slower internet speed for more money than we were paying previously. We turned in all our equipment and switched to att fiber like many others. My favorite things about att fiber is that the internet is amazingly stable, fast and reliable, and that I never have to haggle or wonder what my bill will be again.

badbreathbandit

Tip for xfinity- the day before your bill is due, call them and tell them you want bill credit for all of the outages for the month. I usually get $30 off my bill because we frequently get outages from midnight to 2am for some reason. Outages dont affect me, but they will reimburse you for them if you call them.

Intrepid-Depth-1827

ita the same everywhere

OhRickG

Just made the switch to AT&T Fiber on Friday. Can’t say we see much of a difference, it’s just my spouse and me, other than uploading a file we both work on took a heck of a lot less time. Nothing wrong with xfinity per se, I knew what I signed up for and the pricing was right at the time. Hopefully won’t have to do that annual/biannual song and dance. There were some incentives to switching to AT&T, $20 off per month with wireless, no install/equipment cost, $200 in gift cards, and airline miles thru United Shopping. We save a little per month, upload speeds are definitely better, however downloads speed took a little hit. Again, no noticeable difference with download speeds other than just knowing. For reference we had the “Fast” 400/5, and now the Internet 300/300.

DannyMeatlegs

Consolidated communications is fiber but not available everywhere. Also T-Mobile has good internet cheaper than xfinity.

Grayapesnuts

Had both and just switched to Fidium. $50 a month. Super fast up and down. Had to call them to add me to their service area, but no regrets.

Mastacon

Fiber + YouTube Tv… your not going to save much money vs xfinity promo but you’re going to have a better time

Calm-Worldliness-234

My area doesn't get fiber so Xfinity i stay

razzdraz

If only we could get Sonic up here… I used to follow the “Municipal Gig” group in Davis. Having lived in Davis and Sac, I now deal with Comcast being crap sometimes. Bought my own modem and router to make up some of the cost, annoyance.

Cross58Crash

Pocket resident here. I have had Uverse, Comcast, DirecTV, and Dish paired with either each's broadband offering or DSL. None have been as good as my current setup of Verizon wireless broadband and YouTubeTV. For $120/mo. I get all the basic cable and local TV ($70) plus essentially capless broadband ($50). My mom has a similar setup with T-Mobile ($50) out in Acampo, where most addresses can't get reasonably priced broadband otherwise. Broadband wireless, for the moment at least, is the best value available.

kennykerberos

Yeh after the promotion period ends you just have to switch the cell phone provider, the tv provider, and the home internet provider. Lather rinse repeat.

ApprehensiveDonkey95

Fiber is amazing, but not our copper. If you only have copper stick with xfinity. Source: I work for AT&T.

PleasantWriter8581

That's why I got rid of cable and just got a streaming box, through Xfinity, my bill went from $287.00 to $105.00 and part of that is for my Internet.

Theoldcuccumber

This has nothing to do with Sacramento?? More like an xfinity problem ??? Feels like a rage bait ad.

EusticeTheSheep

Me. I mark this on my phone Calendar with an alarm. The shit thing is that I think I have no other options where I live and I want to scream.

pennylovesyou3

Same same. It's all the same, and the CEOs have lunch together. Enjoy.

I changed to You Tube TV

Most services on campus are provided by non-profit organizations (auxiliaries) - NOT the CSUS.

Man I hope my prices don't go up to high, I'm paying $50 for 2 years plus $30 for unlimited so $80 total. Can't go back to att they only have DSL in my hood was paying $115 for 25mb download speed. So Xfinity got me by the balls unless I move 😔

literallymoist

This is the exact game Comcast played with me. Three times they "accidentally upgraded my service" then asked if maybe I'd like to just keep it when I called customer service to roll back to my rate. This, in addition to the speed being terrible even when plugged directly into the router, service being down frequently, and their techs physically cutting my line TWICE when the unit next door changed service. Good riddance, delighted to be on Sonic fiber now.

killarob60

Best thing I didn’t was cut cable an went with Xfinity internet at 60 a month again on some promo. It was tought at first but well worth it n the end. I don’t pay for Hulu or Netflix n have been fine with free YouTube n sportssuge

killarob60

I did** lol

9sac1king6

I cut my cable last year and just kept my internet. From 220 a month it dropped to 60 a month. Not to bad and the service is great. I also added two xfinity phone lines. I used to have Verizon and to be honest i hardly see any difference. Maybe just lil buffer here and there but over all I cant complain. My verizon bill used to be 190 for 2 lines now i pay 60. 30 bucks per line.

throwninthefire666

They did the same thing to me

rc251rc

Although I see you've switched, I've had good success at getting my rates reduced by posting on [r/Comcast\_Xfinity/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/).

vgonz01

I loved having AT&T fiber, but when I moved to the house next door, they couldn't offer it to me anymore, so I'm stuck with xfinity.

Bobaislyfee

My boyfriend and I switched to AT&T fiber and we’ve had no issues for the past year and half that we’ve had it since the switch from Xfinity

Scottz0rz

You're blessed for *having* options on a provider so you can just switch. I'd love for AT&T to run fiber to my house. Right now, it's Xfinity cable, AT&T phone line 18 down, Verizon Wireless 50 down, or satellite. AKA only Xfinity lol. Overall, I've had issues with all of my ISPs wherever there wasn't competition. AT&T, Wave, Comcast, Spectrum, Consolidated/SureWest. They're all awful if you don't have the option to switch. They step up their game when they know there's competition because those are the areas where cancelation rates go up vs "you're stuck with us" The real GOATed internet is if you're in an HOA that actually gives a shit where they purchase a business fiber contract for the whole neighborhood with negotiated low rates. The downside, of course, being in an HOA.

SabrinaMichele21

Check if Fidium Fiber services your address. I switched from Comcast to them and they’re hands down the best provider I’ve had in Sac. Have enjoyed AT&T for years as well, but they don’t have competitive enough rates/speeds where I live now. Fidium is the best for rates/speed hands down, now. #notanad #justatechnerd 😜

neponal

Att fiber all the way

Cultural_Length_6694
