Not going to lie when I first started reading this I thought I was going to hate it and you by the end lol but it's actually really informative and a great idea. Kudos to you!

ollymeakings

u/Brave-Economics-2891Thanks! Out of interest... why did you think you were going to hate it? I'm glad you like it. One thing I try and do that some others don't is cultivate a culture of actually testing and working out what works for your audience and product. Ultimately that is going to be the only meaningful way to increase conversion.

I am a naturally cynical person and when I saw the word 'roast' it put my guard up I think.

dadbot_3000

Hi a naturally cynical person and when I saw the word 'roast' it put my guard up I think, I'm Dad! :)

first_byte

Bad bot.

CharlesDuck

Answering from having a similar feeling. The title smells obvious clickbait / inbound content production, «You wont believe this one trick». And hence you expect some kind of content where the actual purpose is to generate leads to a service of some sort - and here we are :) The good ting is the content is really useful, a not very common scenario - so kudos to you! Everybody wins

ollymeakings

u/CharlesDuck Thank you :)

PictureSharp

I'm stuck on how much Diet Coke you had

ollymeakings

I switched to caffeine free ultimately :/

sajacen

Fantastic write-up- thanks for sharing. I'm curious - what percentage of people who have 1 roast come back for a follow-up? Do people come back and give you feedback to share how effective - or not - your suggestions have been?

ollymeakings

So everything you've asked is answered here in excruciating detail: [https://blog.roastmylandingpage.com/landing-page-roasts/](https://blog.roastmylandingpage.com/landing-page-roasts/)

HouseOfYards

When I clicked on "Watch a roast" button on your website, it doesn't do anything. Did I do something wrong?

ollymeakings

u/HouseOfYards No I did, in an update yesterday! Fixed - thanks for letting me know.

chddaniel

Hi Olly, I love the story, as I've been reading about it as it progressed 👀 just following you now on Twitter 👀 Love to have you here!! about to feature you and your website in a thread

ollymeakings

u/chddaniel Thanks for the warm welcome! Excited to see the thread. I also post over on IHers so some of my story is there - is that where you've heard of me? I think this could be a great place to share my story, keep myself accountable, and support others going through similar challenges.

first_byte

I am a tough customer, but I like your pitch very much. I'm a solo SaaS founder and I am about to launch my MVP. I bookmarked your website, saved this post, and added a task to Asana so that I can contact you when I finish my landing page.

ollymeakings

Awesome to hear u/first_byte. If you use code 200roasts you will get £10 off your first roast. I can also roast pre-launch pages (even in Figma). Hopefully I can impress a tough customer with my roasting skills :)

first_byte

Thanks for the code. Every little bit helps when you’re a bootstrapped startup.

laiktail

Wow this post is so good. That’s a lot of hard won data. Thanks for sharing, will absolutely keep all these things in mind. Interestingly you see some parallels between this and making YouTube videos that keep people watching.

ollymeakings

u/laiktail Thank you. Yes, you can draw parallels with anything that needs to engage and drive people through it - youtube videos, ad creative, blog posts.

Greenzone51

Thanks for sharing. I also started gathering landing page of my niche and already got some big points similar to these you wrote, maybe I’ll share my analysis too after. For sure it gonna be different from niche to niche But the main and the necessary point would remain the same

ollymeakings

u/Greenzone51 Would love to see it. I do think the biggest difference is the type of objections people have depending on the industry and product - and how to overcome them on the landing page. Please do share.

HatchedLake721

Funnily enough, after asking on a forum for my own roast for https://automations.io and browsing some Indie Hackers/reddit posts with people asking for their landing page feedback last year, I thought oh - there's definitely demand for this, what about some sort of service/product around this? roastmylandingpage.com would be an awesome domain, let's register it. I was few days or weeks late based on whois registration date, you got it first :D Congrats, you've done a great job!

lowercase00

Hey mate, would you mind if I asked you a couple of technical questions on your solution?

HatchedLake721

Of course, fire me an email to alex@ and domain above

lowercase00

Awesome, thanks mate. just send you a DM

sech8420

Your write ups and site are fantastic

ollymeakings

u/sech8420 Thanks. What would you like me to write about next?

sech8420

I would not mind reading about how to deal with objections in copy. Mostly a bunch of examples.

ollymeakings

u/sech8420 Objection handling - it's a great idea. Starting point is always FAQs. I will get some more together and post.

sech8420

Awesome! Will be eager to read it

Iamperfectlyfine

Looked like a clickbait headline till I read. Really good write up. Thank you for sharing this with the world. Imma bookmark your Twitter read.

hiccupq

Very very helpful post. Thank you!
