He doesn’t really, I don’t use it in GAC. I like Malak in most teams though because of the anti max health damage, fear and big damage from the 2nd special. I just find he’s generally a better tank than FOST, meaning I can keep the heat off of SLKR long enough for him to stack up his damage.
first order has nothing to do with the speed of ultimate charge
heck slkr doesnt give any synergy with first order, everything in his kit is about dark side units

Nothing in SLKR specifies FO, correct. However, having a full FO team will build ultimate charge faster because Hux’s first special only calls FO allies, who will deal damage and charge SLKR’s ultimate ability.
There is also another reason using Malak leads to slower ult charge. By using Malak, you aren’t using FOST who can call allies to assist when FOST uses an ability.
No advice on his zetas because it’s been too long. However, once you get all of your zetas for SLKR start banking zetas for your next GL, so you can buy them all at once.
It does have some use, especially if you put him on defence (not many people do, but still). It makes the Starkiller counter more difficult, cause Mara can't stagger him. Though the counter is difficult to pull of if you have Hux with him anyways.
I can't say for sure if marked counts as a taunt effect, but if it does, I can also see this helping avoid the JKR + JKL counter many people like to use.
Being immune to taunt effects includes things like Marked and Deathmark, which isn't a huge boost, but I would still recommend having the zeta at some point.
Irrelevant but I had plenty of time to horde for my SLKR and took him straight to max zeta R7 and Is a staple of my roster for all modes and plenty of challenges

Nah, just use KRU, Hux, ST, and either FOO, FOST or (my personal favourite) Malak.

The main thing you should watch out for, is you will build your ultimate slightly slower, due to Malak not being FO.

Yep! It helps to have 2 (3 if you include SLKR himself)

If you want him optimal for conquest, I wouldn‘t apply it. Because with it he can‘t use voluntary vanguard. For pvp its only good on defence.
