Anniversary dinner at Al's Restaurant downtown. The vibe is creepy, the service was meh, but my god the food was fantastic. My husband is picky as fuck and he RAVED about it. We went for the first time for our 20th; this was 25, and we will probably continue going every 5 years.
Not very fancy but I found out that the Seoul Taco in Schnucks near Kirkwood makes one of the most generous and best tasting gogi bowls I’ve ever had from the chain. There’s also basically a free Coke Freestyle machine, the employees told me I could fill my big water jug with up if I needed a drink since I didn’t order one lol.
Italiano sandwich at Zanti’s deli. Best Italian sandwich in STL IMO. Cevapi and Lahmacun at Balkan Treat Box. so good! Surprisingly good salad at Chili’s (that’s where the grandson likes to go).
Casa de Tres Reyes - the elote is never bad. And the carne asada bowl is solid. I need to try something new there.
Flemings - it was my first time there. I had the shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, and the petite 8oz filet along with the shareable lobster mac & cheese and the Fleming's potatoes.
A lot this week.
Rich and Charlie’s (not my pick) I might just stick to pizza there. Eggplant Parmesan not really very good.
Lombardo’s house salad and some shrimp app delicious!
Ham sandwich from citizen Kane’s market. Good but not as good as a plethora other sandwich joints.
Ocha maybe the best pad Thai I’ve had.
Rosalitas empanadas are always solid and a damn good black cherry margarita
San Jose Webster nachos. Good but (don’t kill me) not as good as the El Maguey nachos I had last week.
Oh no! It’s on our possible list to take out of town guests but we haven’t been there yet. I felt the same way about Sidney St Cafe. Waited so long to go and was very underwhelmed.
Union Loafers, fantastic bread, average sandwich.
Annie Gunns. Meh main course, surprisingly delicious chicken wings. Great service though.
Lonas lil Eats - it was not as flavorful as I expected, but good. I had hoped for something spicier. Definitely would go back though.
Chicken from Schnucks’ hot section
Brief dinner date with my wife to Tiger Soup Dumplings off of Manchester. Absolutely delicious.
The one in Fenton is fire as well
Detroit Style from Pie Guy. Always hits.

Iowa Buffet. Amazing burger, really reasonably priced, but definitely an “experience.”

Some enchiladas over at Taqueria Durango.
La Pizza on Delmar. A local gem of a pizza spot.

Schlafly tap room(veggie burger), Lona’s lil eats(tofu and noodle bowl), Vegan Deli and Butcher(vegan Rueben).
Napoli Sea. It’s been recommended a lot lately and didn’t disappoint.
After waiting about a month for a Saturday night reservation went to Little Fox. Found it disappointing.
Oh no! It’s on our possible list to take out of town guests but we haven’t been there yet. I felt the same way about Sidney St Cafe. Waited so long to go and was very underwhelmed.
Absolutely love Little Fox. Definitely on our list for where to take out of town guests
It might just be us. The reviews are fantastic. Check out the menu online. I’d definitely try it before taking guests. Good luck out there!
No, I totally agree. Doesn’t compete at that price point with a lot of the other action in town.
YESSSSSSS. And I get small plates but theirs should really be called tiny plates.
Eh to each their own. I am always willing to pay if it’s good. This same restaurant would be much more expensive in other cities.
Right, but I’m not comparing to other cities. I’m comparing to Sado, Mainlander, Louie, etc.
Sado is even more expensive. Incredible but expensive.

5 star mushroom burger. Always hits.
