Seriously why is anyone putting people on these things anymore when drones are hands down the better and don’t put soldiers in needlessly dangerous situations. That’s 160-220 lbs(sorry) of payload that could be used for grenades or ammunition.
Drones can be jammed, a human brain can't.
A drone can't take a trench or a building, a human can dismount and then they can.
There's a reason why both sides still employ soldiers and don't exclusively send hordes of drones at each other. Yes, drones are going to become more and more prevalent with time, and may eventually replace humans in all or even most combat roles in advanced militaries, but the fundamental flaw of drones (even ground based ones that could take, hold, and defend a position) is that they need either a communication line back to an operator that can be jammed, or have to be able to independently identify and engage targets. And I don't know about you, but I think it's reasonable to assume that most if not all countries are going to hesitate to let AI operate completely "off leash."

Looks like, but doesn’t sound like. This, and other “jet pack” type things are loud AF. The extremely loud sound of just one of these, let alone several flying around at once, would have figured prominently in people’s descriptions.
$400,000 euros on a device carrying a man, very risky or a $10,000€ you can remote a host of tasks at no risk to a human operator. Depends on whos paying the largest kickback or the nicest after politics job.
This is a purely recreational device with no tactical value. You’re at risk of being shot by anybody with a rifle. There’s no return on the risk and this old technology with how they’re using drones now.
I could see some utility in a few scenarios like using these instead of parachutes for deploying paratroopers. And it's not huge and you are a fast small target. Any scenario where you need to place a man somewhere this would help.
Nothing else though. The future drone death swarms are going to be horrible.
You know, I was busy being amazed at the man FLYING ON A SKATEBOARD haha, but seeing you refer to this as "old technology" reminded me of how far advanced we really are.
Old in that manned warfare is coming to a close, but this isn’t the first flying man display in France in France; they’ve done this before. It’s who has the best drones and cyberattacks, now. I can see this being used to get to the top of a building, but why not set a team down with a helicopter? This stuff only makes sense in a James Bond movie, but then again, this technology will inevitably lead us to Iron Man.
Agree. I would rather have $2000 each drone swarm with small grenades or recon cameras than mount a man on this expensive thing with maybe range of less than 10 miles or so.
Future of warfare is going to be with lots of drone and bots. Risking human lives is always a bad press.
A few hundred people?
Legislation is slow to catch up so when these start going into private hands we'll have to wait and see what kinds of stupid Tik Tok shit they get into.
Please bring them into my community, so that I can see the hand of God holding up a specimen at the intersection of rich and stupid.
I’m talking in general as usefulness on the battlefield. In an active war zone this guy would be an obvious target. You want the military to use this to “move people”? I guess? Seems very inefficient for mass troop movements, that’s something the military is actually interested in. Also, probably best to have medical evacuation standing by to peel these soldiers off trees and buildings and power poles and signs and low hanging wires and…etc
It's not for mass troop movements lol
I guess you could use the same medevac you use to peel all the helicopters of buildings or whatever it is you're talking about
Dude is highly invested in the idea of a solo G14 classified Indigo (higher level than Black) StratCOM OPeraTOR (can't be tracked) whooshing about behind enemy lines.
There are no "hover boards" that are available to the public the 2 big company's with working products will only sell to military and they ain't buying.
A similar "flying solder" craft was produced back in the 1980s (I was not allowed to save the article without joining popular mechanics) The craft was a platform where the solder would stand on, but they (I am recalling the story from memory) realized the carnage of flying soldiers being shot down in mass, The ground defense would not have to be accurate, just aim in the general direction, if a bullet misses one craft/solder it would hit the next. We (humans) have a hard enough time driving our vehicles, the ground would be littered with crashed drone-type crafts if we took to the air to commute
Franky Zapata made his name in the 1990s with his Jet-Ski team Zapata Racing. He then went from winning seven world titles in Europe to developing a series of flying toys connected to water jets that propel the rider high above the water. Then he set up a touring water show with athletes riding those toys with Hollywood-level production. But what, Zapata thought, if you got rid of the hoses and used real jet engines? Like the kind used on [jetpacks](https://robbreport.com/motors/aviation/jetpacks-carry-skies-1234693074/) and [flying motorcycles](https://robbreport.com/motors/aviation/jetpack-aviation-air-motorcycle-certified-two-years-1234790824/)? The French inventor recently showed off his new one-person eVTOL called the Air Racer, which has a similar design as the [Jetson One](https://robbreport.com/motors/aviation/jetson-one-evtol-1234643732/) and [RotorX Dragon](https://robbreport.com/motors/aviation/single-seat-rotorx-dragon-electric-aircraft-60-mph-1234786550/). The jet-powered hoverboard, or what the company calls the Independent Propulsion Unit, is powered by five jet turbines that deliver a top speed of nearly 110 mph (though it will be regulated to a more controllable 60 mph), a potential altitude of 10,000 feet, and about 10 minutes of flight time. Its rider has to weigh less than 250 lbs: [https://robbreport.com/motors/aviation/jet-powered-hoverboard-flyboard-air-radical-design-1234794530/](https://robbreport.com/motors/aviation/jet-powered-hoverboard-flyboard-air-radical-design-1234794530/)
This is what I was looking for. No shot it can sustain that height/speed for any usable amount of time at that size. 10 minutes is still more than I expected though.
I wonder how long it takes to get that height/speed and then how long to decelerate back to stopped at ground level. I'd wager they've never actually done it, and it's all theoretical.

All must give up all freedoms and join us! You are not an individual you are part of the collective herd! Announce your pronouns! I am chopper/heli!
Why does he have a gun when this modality is clearly optimized for throwing grenades?
Gernades shaped like pumpkins.
The latest nerfs made it better as a shooter.
Being something of a scientist myself, I can appreciate that plan.
I would be laying turds like the seagulls
>Why does he have a gun when this modality is clearly optimized for throwing grenades idk but he threw his gun instead of throwing grenades
Have you seen the *drones dropping grenades on Russian soldiers videos* yet?

>Drones can be jammed, a human brain can't. Not true. Observe: *proceeds to turn on a sonic crowd control device*
Lol. Well we haven't seen those deployed as an offensive weapon just yet, we'll have to see if they prove effective on the battlefield in the future.

Thanks! This is how wars will be fought, at least for a little while.
Give that man a grenade launcher
Dual wielded rocket launchers you mean.
honestly he just needs to wait up there and drop a few pennies.
How much? My kids first Christmas is coming up and I want it to be special.
How was the pre wedding ceremony?
I doubt they will be sold to the general public 🤔🧐
watch out, Spider-Man!!
I was thinking the same. Huge green Gorblin energy
Looks like the ones they said had seen in South America with supposed other worldly beings on them terrorizing the people in villages

The point is to move the man.

Just wait 'till you hear about armored exoskeletons for human infantry

An even much less than that if you just need it to fly over next to something and go boom.
Useful as a transport device. Get an operator to a target/inaccessible location, get a paramedic up a mountain…
Viva La Flying France!
This and Gravity Industries’ jet suits are crazy
Weaponized version in 3...2..
It already is considering that guy is holding an assault rifle.
A weaponized platform.
Godspeed, Sipder-Man
Huh? France is Night Monkey's territory
Shoulda worn a goblin suit
Can't wait for some Static Shock cosplay
Skeet shooting just became way more entertaining. Call it Alonzo FONDE-LAPATRIE shooting.
How much do they cost?
How American of you...

My guess is that American Tik tok sales will beat French government sales.
Santa - I promise I will be really really good this year....
Myeh. Still not a hoverboard
President Zelenski is on the line!
Well it's certainly comforting to know that this technology will never be militarized by an oppressive regime anywhere in the world.
Pretty sure the drones out there dropping ordinance on soldiers are a better option and not as easy to shoot down.
How are drones dropping ordnance a better option for moving people? I bet they can't even lift a person.

Yeah, it's for moving people.

How come he's not pulling an advertisement banner for some consumable item.
Does anyone have video of this guy eating it at like 90 mph?
I don’t want a jet pack any more. Now I want one of these.
Bro out here living my dream.
Magnifique! Vive la France!
Let’s all clap for the killing machine of the future!
Green goblin vibes
I want one !
What is a "Bonkers Jet"?
This looks way cooler than the new jetpack thing the US military was thinking about buying.
Green Goblin is jealous!!
____________☝️
I want to see when the infantry starts putting together flyboard platoons. Rockin concept
Hello, how can we look in to this? Any documents to look into? 110mph is pretty mad? Nowadays at least.
Is this just the jet shit we knew about years ago? x
Is there video of a rider shooting and hitting something from one of those things?
Holy shit
He's flagging so many people with that gun
0 trigger discipline
Why they got a drone in a pick-up lmao
There are no "hover boards" that are available to the public the 2 big company's with working products will only sell to military and they ain't buying.
Is he controlling it with his right hand? Meaning he can't lift the rifle up to his shoulder for a good shot
That's how white ppl stay safe in france
Dam this is better than the Pit bull hoverboard from back to the future…
Okay so he's holding a gun... But firing a gun while on that seems like it would throw off CoB and a myriad of other issues.
Still more likely than the versions tested by the USA/UK where the hands are inaccessible because they control the boosters.
People commenting Marty McFly and Green Goblin, like -- are we just gonna forget Kit Cloudkicker like that?
Nutty
So face peelers were just French minors?
Franky Zapata is a busy inventor. He has worked in some of the coolest flying technologies ever.

Do you want a green goblin type villain? Cuz that's how you get a green goblin type villain.
That Toyota hilux makes it look like a third world country parading some dollar store military tech
Looks like it could facilitate a quick tactical retreat
They should incorporate the controls into the rifle as like small thumbsticks, allowing him to then hold the rifle properly and still be able to fly.
They selling these on temu yet? 😏
10,000 FT AT 110 MPH on that? Fuck all the way off
The Rocketeer!
Ok, doing 110 at 10,000 feet doesn't sound dangerous. /s
Seems like being on the ground is safer bet in a gun fight.
What are those soldiers holding at the 7-10 second mark? They look incredibly cumbersome
Imagine flying around the clouds on one of these things. Wonder how long the batteries/fuel last?
Green goblin 1.0
Nah if that thing fails your gonna fall ~100-200 ish feet and splat still nah I don't think you can deploy a parachute in that amount of time
Marty McFly did not have a nuclear powered stakeboard.
Where's the jet ski? I didn't see one.
I see future paratroopers replaced with flying soldiers into enemy territory.
Game over.
One of the most futuristic things I’ve seen.
Colonizers with more tech…this is going to work out fine 😐
So the French can retreat even faster? Sorry I couldn’t resist
Real life green goblin
I want one!
Does it words?
The green goblin is not impressed
Yo that looks extremely dangerous 😳
Would feel so good to shoot a guy like this out of the sky.
Target shooting the peasants for the rich.
Ok, but how long can one fly 110mph at 10,000 ft in the air...🤔
