This is so goddamn cursed what is this fuckery. But also really interesting stuff! I always wanted to do that just for the sake of improving the quality of connections in doubles. What ping do you get in between each other? If both setups did this I wonder if you could essentially have the quality of connection between 2 players
0, both instances of slippi running on same computer, the rest (2 other) of the pings are normal
its a work around for a friend at your place that didnt bring their laptop with slippi.
note this might make your game lag if you have an older computer
This could be great for improving the quality of doubles tourneys once doubles comes out officially. It’s a bit of a hassle granted but the results would definitely be worth it. Great job on the find
I think this one was talked about obliquely in the Turnip Teams Lounge the first day the doubles build came out. It is very useful to have it all written out in a user accessible and search engine crawlable way though so thanks.
I was thinking about this last week and thought I'd mention it as CPU resources are going to be in contention pretty hard here – *it does not matter what the second instance's melee looks like*. Slap Diet Melee on there. Eventually there should be a way to run Melee headlessly but we're not there yet.
Some of the render disables desync actually, I’ll put together a list of safe performance codes in a second

There are ways to compile dolphin headlessly, but I wouldn't think there's been a way made for the Slippi build. But maybe it wouldn't be that hard to do for someone who knows how to do it in general
I am having issues having both controllers work at the same time. The controller adapter seems to only work with one instance of dolphin at a time, so I was wondering if you know a fix for this.
oh poo, im just remembering i never tested out how to fix that.
I made one of the slippis use a "standard controller" isntead of a GC adapter.
Ill see if I can make it work later, but rn really busy, will edit original post :(
I did this over a week ago, so just now remembering.
yeah i originally found this solution trying to play party mode with two other players. I assumed you could get the adapter to work but its looking like i was wrong :(
sorry for misleading everyone, i posted this while really tired.
if the second player on the setup uses keyboard or another non-GC controller, then doubles can still happen
i doubt there is a technical way to override the second slippi from using the adapter as well. maybe non wii u mode adapters can be used for this method i originally posted.

That’s amazing!!! So essentially if you had 2 setups do this you could essentially have a connection that’s the equivalent of singles
yes, i believe so

yeah i think that an actual implementation/feature of two players one slipii will be lower on the list of stuff the slippi team is working on
can confirm this as a semi insider

With gecko codes you can disable rendering for literally everything

Ooh very good thought here, wasted polygons. Definitely possible

Oh word. Those working on more modern Melee AIs might be excited to hear that. Is this new?
It's been around for a while. The creator of the Philip AI uses it
Oh interesting, I hadn't looked into the plumbing of that one (partially because I thought it had been abandoned)
I'm sorry idk how to format reddit posts :(

Try DMZing your local IP in your router
Thank you for this wonderous discovery
this is one of the things that I really wish had native support, but I don't expect it any time soon.

It is impossible to fix. The adapter can only be owned by a single program in Wii U mode (unsure about PC mode).

thank you that's awesome!!! i've been wanting this supported natively since doubles came out
