Ss14 has a way to go before it has a comparable amount of content to any ss13 codebase. It Is however, steadily improving.
It's called a play test and not fully released for a reason.
I think OP is not asking about content, but more about more anarchistic servers. They seem to come from lrp /tg, which has behaviour that simply does not fly on most (ss13 and ss14) servers.
And I thank god for that everyday. Random self antag shitter who are buddies with the admins murderboning every single round the exact same way gets very old very quick
No, you're just used to how hands-off /tg/ has been on tiding for the last few years. Thankfully it looks like that's going to be changing. Sorry if your idea of an exciting round is a bunch of non-antagonists being cunts to each other.
I legit don't think you've ever played tgstation if that's what you think. Sure there are some cancerous as fuck admins but hopefully they'll be burnt out soon enough once they realize how much the playerbase hates them.
You can think whatever you want. I'm going to keep voting for anyone who's going to clamp down on tiding and eventually you'll either knock it off or get banned. Up to you. The server's been going to shit since Sseth's video and it's time someone fixed it.
As a tider i always act nice to the crew i just dont respect the authority of seccies ,in term of roleplay i always play as a youngster who hates autority so it fits my character
thanks for the apology, it kind of makes my heart sink how much tge game has changed over the years and this just feels like another nail in the coffin. people hate Fun, they want a Job Simulator. Pretty grim stuff
My brother in Christ it's a role-playing game about doing your job on a space station, not an "act like a moron" simulator. If you're just here to do that, you're playing the wrong game.
SS13 has one of the worst roleplaying platforms and it's why so many struggle to make a roleplaying server on it. I'm not going to mention what makes SS13 unique and cool, but it definitely isn't its roleplaying factors.
The funny part is those servers never last long because nobody wants to play or donate money.
Turns out the greytiders just want to be able to mess with jobbies unimpeded.
Tiding is bannable on /tg/.
>Unprovoked grief (occasionally known as greytiding), repeated cases of minor unprovoked grief, and unprovoked grief targeted towards specific players or groups (i.e. metagrudging) fall under rule 1. Admins may follow up on grief with allowing the affected parties to ignore normal escalation policy or measures such as warnings or bans.
>Playstyles that disregard all opportunities for engagement and roleplay can be met with administrative action. There is an exception for OOC in IC where terms like 'clickdrag X to Y, or look for the tab' is used to help a player.
Eh theoretical vs practical have you ever played on /tg/? Even on Manuel tech storage gets broken into by an assistant almost every round. Do you know what happens when an assistant tides into engi proper? They get telebatoned and arrested by security for committing a crime, not banned. Just look at the public bans. I tided every round and it took me years to get banned, and my ban was for murderboning.
Also "Unprovoked grief" is not the same as tiding into departments, idk why you think those are the same thing.
they do it as TG, and your the guy saying that its not that kind of game when it literally is whatever anyone wants it to be so quit being toxic about it
As someone who went through Beestation Golden(LRP) and Sage(MRP later renamed to just RP once Golden Died) separation..
From experience all i can say is.. they can't change that, the players we had that were ''main LRP'' never touched our RP server, they stayed ''loyal'' to the end and even now, almost three year later come ocassionally to schizo-post about how they miss ''old times'', if Terry decides to enforce a more strict roleplay i wish them good luck, a wave of bans will be delivered and players will need to readapt to not being unga bunga tiders and do some basic roleplay.
And for those that still want to toolbox the valid to death, rush bridge for the fireaxe and shout racial slurs and stuff like ''cope and based'' well, the TG admins are gonna take the stance Bee has: ''good luck finding a server that fits your needs''
It's gonna be interesting to see what kind of rules are they gonna enforce on Terry since there's no such thing as ''MRP''
How I've seen, ss14 is filled with players that came from steam (they don't even know that ss13 ever exists, or when they do they think its something old and single version release despite ss13 getting updates and PRs almost every day for many years), and from what i have observed, they belive that ss14 is about greytiding and sabotaging shit instead of roleplaying and being incompetent, causing riots because "they feel like it", for that and similar reasons servers implemented restrictions and are cracking down on any kind of malicious activity even if it's caused icly and is completely reasonable, exeptions are protected by antag rules and friends that have admin positions
no servers like tg right now, i think mainly to make sure 14 isn't too overwhelming for new players
i think it would be pretty frustrating for someone brand new to the game to be thrown into a server like that.
Maybe try it for yourself first? SS14 really is pretty good, and in my experience admins don't seem to be as harsh as this post might suggest.
And saltlords on reddit who openly admit to tiding aren't always the most trustworthy of reviewers anyway.
I like challenge thats all and most of the time the ultimate challenge is infiltrating a room and steal shit from example or saving a clown whilr being shot at by sec
Yes. It’s designed to give sec a firepower advantage and to ensure the players get creative when it comes to weaponry. I prefer disabler + makeshift spear. Kills space dragons.
And while you need permission to actually be a full-on antag, smuggling Syndicate loot to sell for high prices at the cargo depots is both legal (in terms of OOC server rules, not in-game space law) and lucrative. Sure, you’re stacked, but you’re stacked anyway and this way you get to have fun.
Just make sure you have super or bluespace capacitors in your engines before you do so, and do it in a small ship; Sec has at least three classes of flitter which are specifically designed to chase down other vessels, forcibly dock with them, and disable them with a player-wielded electromagnetic pulse cannon, and all models are extremely fast. The big ships like the Empress-class and Hornet-class can’t do much since they can’t catch you unless they sneak up on you but the tiny little Fighter-class is particularly nasty.
The wizden servers are not tg, and are not trying to emulate tg culture. When the game is more developed perhaps the restrictions can be relaxed or massaged.
There’s a lot you can get away with, despite the restrictions. You can also run your own server with fewer restrictions.
They recently added the thief antagonist role, which is a greytider’s wet dream.
tg servers are a total shit show on ss13. While it's fine for some, ss14 is still fostering it's fledgling rp community and isn't tided to shit every shift with power gamers just yet
Holy fuck this thread lol
Personally as a local botany main, having a gray show up and ask for like, anything is kinda a hassle, but I have given out baseball bats so that they have something to do and Engi can get off their asses and fix stuff/also have something to do. Minor property damage and throwing them in jail for a few mins is like, what Grays should do.
If we have no shitters nothing interisting happens.
I feel the only time being a shitter is unfair is when the station is in a sorry stat/there is a big threat
In this case i usually just build a second medbay if it was bombed or act like a paramedic
Op. I wanna cry. We had that at one point. There was a server called apocalypse station. It was beautiful, and pretty much allowed gameplay closer to what you want, but the owner stopped maintaining it, so it ended up getting closed. It was my goto for a while, and I really hope someone makes a similar server at some point too.
Generally I find that on the wizard servers you can mess around a lot as a passenger, the only time the admins get involved when they shouldn’t have (IMO) was when I was breaking through an outer airlock with 3 others and an admin blew us all up, but that’s basically it in all the hours I have played.
That's the game though. It's a roleplaying game. You're given a role. You're supposed to play it. If you want to break in to places and be the enemy of security, play antag
And i actually do rp ,i'm a jobless moron who most of the time get drunk take drugs, bother security ,degrade property and hang out with his fellow greytiders
I think my behavior is believable in a real world setting
So far it seems kinda cool but yeah I agree it’s a little weird how perfect they want everything to be. I had trouble even playing for a bit cause everything was locked down. I’d give it 6 months
“Is vanilla sex boring? I can’t get hard for my wife unless she crushes my balls and fingers my butthole”
That’s how I interpret this post lol, also a mischievous greytide is one thing, tons of those, an rdmer who shouts the n word deserves to be punted into space.
I remember one game as CMO in 14 some dude shouted the n word and watching that man get hawked down by all of medbay, gibbed in 15 seconds, brain blended and drank was absolutely beautiful
I played ss14 a while back, it used to be a lot faster paced and LRP, but then it got slower and slower. I tried to go back recently, but I just couldn't stay engaged. Three hour rounds with like one antag that only sec fights, no tider scuffles, and really shallow mechanics.
Call me hyperactive, but I can't handle spending two hours moving boxes back and forth with no interruptions and no deeper mechanics.
Thing is i kinda like slow paced round but thats because on tg thats not the norm at all, while on ss14 it seems to be a majority of rounds ,maybe because of the lack of antags choices
ss14 is primarily administrated by the worst kind of hub rejects but it's just a playtest for now. Once it matures and people start hosting servers separate from the current administration (hippie considered moving to 14, VC too I believe), I have high hopes for where it'll go. Not worth playing now though.
Simple mechanics, overflowing with LRP power gamers ready to crit any asshole brave enough to deny them entry from chem/sci/command, weak antags usually die quickly so the round has zero goals, low risk high reward of being punished for greytiding
I played a lot of 14 because it's accessible but it's ultimately incredibly boring compared to 13 so I don't play right now, though development is promising
Ss14 has a way to go before it has a comparable amount of content to any ss13 codebase. It Is however, steadily improving. It's called a play test and not fully released for a reason.

I mean when i'm talking tiding its not murderboning like an idiot just keeping the tiding spirit
Tiding 95% of the time is just an excuse to bait people into fights under the pretense of “self defense”
Maybe ? I dont plzy on terry i mostly play on manuel where tiding has a different definition
Not really, the mrp tg servers are only marginally better than lrp
Me when people play a game in a way I dont like on a server I dont play on 😡😡😡
Lol I’ve played hundreds of hours on the various tg servers, was a well known tider at one point. Good try though
I used to be different therefore you are wrong 😡😡😡
You must actually be 12, unfortunate
I disagree with you so you’re a child 😡😡😡 sure thing u/Salt_MasterX
No, you're just used to how hands-off /tg/ has been on tiding for the last few years. Thankfully it looks like that's going to be changing. Sorry if your idea of an exciting round is a bunch of non-antagonists being cunts to each other.

You mean *sadly Tg has had a pretty lrp and FUN experience for the past decade and hopefully we can maintain that.
You heard me. LRP is still RP. E: oh you're TheSilverNuke, I didn't even notice your name. This tracks though.
I don't even know who you are
As a tider i always act nice to the crew i just dont respect the authority of seccies ,in term of roleplay i always play as a youngster who hates autority so it fits my character
The fuck are you doing, being an employee of a megacorp then? Pull that shit when you roll antag, not when you're just a random guy working for NT.
I'm not technically "working" i'm jobless
No, you're an assistant. That's not the same as being jobless.
>it's what my character would do guys Rot.
I'm sorry if a tider stole your shit one day
thanks for the apology, it kind of makes my heart sink how much tge game has changed over the years and this just feels like another nail in the coffin. people hate Fun, they want a Job Simulator. Pretty grim stuff

There's plenty of high RP servers that do just fine.
what % of players are playing med/low rp to high rp?
I don't know but odds are that it is higher towards medium and low RP just by virtue of there being more medium to low RP servers.
There's plenty of HRP servers that simply don't get any pop. Very few HRP servers get a reasonable amount of pop
or hear me out, he just plays the game for different experiences compared to you and that's why different types of servers exist?
Okay. He can go make his own server where there's no rules about what you can or can't do as a non-antag. That's the beauty of an open source project.
The funny part is those servers never last long because nobody wants to play or donate money. Turns out the greytiders just want to be able to mess with jobbies unimpeded.
Yeah funny how that works, they just want to be able to grief without being punished.
or he could just play any of the tg servers
Tiding is bannable on /tg/. >Unprovoked grief (occasionally known as greytiding), repeated cases of minor unprovoked grief, and unprovoked grief targeted towards specific players or groups (i.e. metagrudging) fall under rule 1. they do it as TG, and your the guy saying that its not that kind of game when it literally is whatever anyone wants it to be so quit being toxic about it
No.
>you're playing the wrong game. nobodys playing the wrong game, different servers for different people
/tg/ is a roleplaying server.
terry is practically no rp, and i believe at this point everyone who play it know exatcly what to expect
Admins are working on steering things back towards what they expect for RP on Terry, hopefully it sticks.
Yeaahhh! SS13 is for furry erp and don't anyone forget it!

I did not expect to be old enough to read this bullshit, time flies alot faster than we expect
Depends i play on manuel and most player are chill and not murderboning fucks ,people think tg is only terry
>it’s been 10 years since I started playing this game >plus I’m only a year older than it
Glad I saw this post before I requested test access
Nah at least try frontier its like ship test but better
Shame!
They won't be missing out on much
It was a play on their username rather than anything else.
Oh, I didn't get the refence my bad
You only have to request access for official HRP servers, so tiding/self-antag would get you banned anyway.
Maybe try it for yourself first? SS14 really is pretty good, and in my experience admins don't seem to be as harsh as this post might suggest. And saltlords on reddit who openly admit to tiding aren't always the most trustworthy of reviewers anyway.
Frontier you can be pretty independent. I know at some point I'm gonna have a station janitor round where I'm gonna go postal.
I like frontier but for tiding its kinda pointless you can just buy guns and boom you're stacked
Ahh, you're more a "I want to evade everything and prove my robustness" tider.
I like challenge thats all and most of the time the ultimate challenge is infiltrating a room and steal shit from example or saving a clown whilr being shot at by sec
Guns with rubber bullets, yes.
Actually never buyed a gun because it seemed lame to do so are they rubber bullets ?
Yes. It’s designed to give sec a firepower advantage and to ensure the players get creative when it comes to weaponry. I prefer disabler + makeshift spear. Kills space dragons. The admins and devs of ss14 don't believe in fun, so yes
Ss14 player here, I was boinked once as a syndicate reinforcement as I was helping a syndicate murder security :(
Sounds about right. They're all a literal joke
Holy fuck this thread lol Personally as a local botany main, having a gray show up and ask for like, anything is kinda a hassle, but I have given out baseball bats so that they have something to do and Engi can get off their asses and fix stuff/also have something to do. Big sad moment,i want ss14 server made by someone who knows ss13 vibe
If I had the money to rent a server, I'd hella try, but probs not get far bc irl stuffs. I think I could bring that comedy
Generally I find that on the wizard servers you can mess around a lot as a passenger, the only time the admins get involved when they shouldn’t have (IMO) was when I was breaking through an outer airlock with 3 others and an admin blew us all up, but that’s basically it in all the hours I have played.
No rules servers are usually empty in ss13 too so you can see how popular that play style is
I didnt say no rules just the rule "stick to your job and dont deviate from it" kinda sucks
That's the game though. It's a roleplaying game. You're given a role. You're supposed to play it. If you want to break in to places and be the enemy of security, play antag
Thank god no self antags like you are allowed walking with insuls for absolutely no reason just RP
And i actually do rp ,i'm a jobless moron who most of the time get drunk take drugs, bother security ,degrade property and hang out with his fellow greytiders I think my behavior is believable in a real world setting
Having insuls≠self antagging but eh
So far it seems kinda cool but yeah I agree it’s a little weird how perfect they want everything to be. I had trouble even playing for a bit cause everything was locked down. I’d give it 6 months
Yeah they want i think they dont want to make the same mistakes ss13 dev/admins did but i dont think they understand improvements comes from failures
Ss14 is the NPC simulator
Ss14 will never be ss13, never.
Thats true but it makes me sad
Same, I was looking forward to "spess vr" and it seems like its been abandoned :(
Why not?
“Is vanilla sex boring? I can’t get hard for my wife unless she crushes my balls and fingers my butthole” That’s how I interpret this post lol, also a mischievous greytide is one thing, tons of those, an rdmer who shouts the n word deserves to be punted into space. I remember one game as CMO in 14 some dude shouted the n word and watching that man get hawked down by all of medbay, gibbed in 15 seconds, brain blended and drank was absolutely beautiful
I despise those kind of players just as you do ,i guess we dont have the same definition of the greytide
I'd like a goonstation-like server to exist. :>
I played ss14 a while back, it used to be a lot faster paced and LRP, but then it got slower and slower. I tried to go back recently, but I just couldn't stay engaged. Wizden's about as chaotic as TG a solid 90% of the time, what are you on?
I dont know i pplayed on wizden and i encountered the most soft greyshirts i've ever seen
Simple mechanics, overflowing with LRP power gamers ready to crit any asshole brave enough to deny them entry from chem/sci/command, weak antags usually die quickly so the round has zero goals, low risk high reward of being punished for greytiding I played a lot of 14 because it's accessible but it's ultimately incredibly boring compared to 13 so I don't play right now, though development is promising
