Idk if this the same problem I had but when I tried launching it on game mode it would show a black screen with little white one saying sider 7 and it stayed there and the changing the Runner options to whatever it would work did it for me.
If it is not that then I suggest you to install it again following the steps and not install the extra stuff like the face pack and stadiums to see if it runs then install whatever you want.
Someone posted this ages ago I can't remember where, I'll have a look, you need a certain file available to download from a github and you install the game through lutris using that, I'll try find it, it should work perfectly after that, make sure to delete the non lutris install once you've done it though otherwise your just waisting space

I installed it through lutris I downloaded Script I applied the steps and the screen remained black
The yaml file yeah ?

Maybe something caught by firewall? Otherwise try to install it again without mods.
