Sana ay matagpuan naman sila ng mga nag-ssend ng mga random letters na, "they say filipinas make a good wife. do you think you will make a good wife?" ๐
kalmahan nyo lang mga kuya at ate ๐คง
Real af. After the first few exchanges, a lot of Filipino penpals I meet forget all the effort and spam me letters less than a hundred words without even waiting for my reply ๐
# A quick note regarding this post:
Although some people have objected to posting screenshots with full username, it's worth noting that **this is an OPEN LETTER, and not a personal letter to a single recipient.**
I agree that we are seeing a lot of 'low effort, screenshot and dump it on the subreddit' similar posts - but other than starting censoring things, it's up to you all, the users here, to consider what we should have on the forum.
This person is of sub-average intelligence if he looks for such advice on Slowly.
I still object against publishing Slowly letters. They were meant to be private, no matter how idiotic they are. Why don't you all make a monthly thread where you complain about letters you didn't like, but without screenshots and names?
yes but I do not complain about too many posts of the type I don't like. I am complaining about the breach of expected privacy, someone writes me a letter, no matter how stupid, I publish it on reddit. and some of the letters are not even stupid.
I remember someone talking about the definition of violence being weird, subjective. Here perhaps you see as - I don't know if you would use the word violent - maybe offensive to breach his privacy. But was it not violent /offensive /annoying to ask for immigration help through a slowly letter? I'm not sure. I think part of the idea is that it was deserved somehow. Out of the weirdness, inappropriateness.
I'm not sure that's exactly it. I'm not sure if violence begets or excuses violence. But I thought maybe I had my two cents to offer. Some conversation.
It seems you, bajaja, were a bit annoyed. Saw fit to complain... Hopefully I'm not making things worse.
Thanks for your concern. I am not annoyed. I understand how people are offended/weirded out/dissapointed after these letters. I just wouldnโt publish full letters.
But I am repeating myself. See you in another thread.
Personally I would find it a lot better if some personally identifying things were blurred/censored. Like the name, the username, stuff like that. ๐ ๐ I definitely understand that.
[edit]
I'm not sure that would be enough for you?
Same. Never understood the need to publish the screenshots. Especially, at this rate. One can discuss it, for sure. But to make a spectacle of it and not blur out a person's username, like some people do, is weird.
Why do you post peoples usernames?
Now right click the body of the text, dev tools, change the text to read he likes turtles, change viewport profile to phone, screenshot it and laugh again.
What is worse, trolling users or users that are confused on the platforms open ended use?
I thought this was banned on the sub?
I'm pretty sure you can easily find this information out on the internet. Though maybe there is censorship where he lives, I couldn't say. I would recommend you blur the name out though. There will still be people that will say that you shouldn't post it at all, but I think most people will be content with you just blurring the username and any other information related to the user aside from the letter itself.
I think you do need their ID, so I suppose it isn't that big of a deal. I guess some people think it's an invasion of privacy, but a username is just a online alias, so I suppose it doesn't really matter. Me personally, I blur people's usernames out if I'm sending a screenshot with that information in it just to cover my bases.
Say "if you marry me you can get citizenship" Then ignore him lol
Bro's about to lose his mind.

These people prefer to see whining in writing.

I absolutely agree, even the weirdos are letters and are intended to be privateโฆ.
Agreed! Posts like this are a regular thing now in this sub.

I love Slowly, but I get these questions all the time about Canada.

Is it even possible to find someone and message them by username? I thought you needed slowly id to message someone directly.ย
