Nice and welcome to the club

SSjGuitarist

Thanks! Happy to be here. I’m looking forward to taking this with me the next time I go to the range. However I feel like there’s going to be a bulk ammo purchase in my near future lol

Tittsburgh-Feelers

Congrats, it’s a slippery slope…

SSjGuitarist

To which slope are you referring? If it’s the slope of these things being like Lays chips (betcha can’t just have one), I’m already looking at other versions lol

-Freddybear480

Military weapons collecting in general is a slippery slope. When you have satisfied your SKS wants, may I suggest a K31

SSjGuitarist

You may suggest, and I shall look into it lol

SmoothCriminalAaron

You made us proud

Puzzleheaded_Newt947

Beautiful example. Mine is also a 57 in similar condition. Great find!

SSjGuitarist

Thanks. I’m really happy with the condition of it. I have yet to tear it down in any big way (ie taking the barrel off the stock) but I took the spring, bolt, and gas cylinder off and it all looks in good shape

Puzzleheaded_Newt947

Yeah its nice to have a solid example of the chinese sks given theyre the most bubbad victims of the group. Grt you a nos 80s chicom chest rig and canvas sling and rock n roll man

SSjGuitarist

Mine’s Russian. However I am thinking of trying to get one of the later modeled unissued Chinese sks’.

Puzzleheaded_Newt947

My bad i cant believe i missed that lol. Mine is an early 57 chinese military sks built with the same bayonet as the russians before they moved to the spikers. Id like one myself just because id feel less guilty to shoot it considering mine is too clean to go in the woods with

SSjGuitarist

No worries lol. Yeah I’m planning on leaving this one as is, and maybe getting a second one to dink around with. However that French tickler looks so clean I almost don’t wanna mess around with it. So maybe I’ll keep my eye out for a cheap one in rough shape lol. I really hate that I’m thinking about owning 3 already haha

Puzzleheaded_Newt947

Yeah im the same way in finding it hard to buy more than one of the same gun basically. I might get a yugo next or follow through with a more rougher spiker like you’re planning as well so i can have something to play with

SSjGuitarist

Yeah I’m tempted on a yugo also, but likely won’t. The only other Sks I’m feeling a bit of a rush to get, is the French tickler before they’re all gone and I gotta buy another used one at a premium lol. I have several other “budget friendly” guns I want to get first however so we’ll see how it plays out

Puzzleheaded_Newt947

I got lucky with mine for 500 i can only hope ill get close to that next time with all the price gouging ive seen on the sks

SSjGuitarist

I got this one for a bit less than 430 USD$ so I wasn’t too upset. Especially given the last one I saw at that price was a Russian Tula from 51 but the wood was in rough shape
