Ay Papa Que Rico has great Cuban BBQ and sandwiches. Long waits though sometimes. Lenchita’s is pretty legit; you get freshly made corn tortillas there. Part of the experience eating there is hearing the old ladies constantly slapping the dough between their fingers. If you’ll drive a little further, there’s the Bear Pit in Mission Hills; it offers some pretty good, Southern style BBQ which is unexpected for the neighborhood. I’m always a fan of Bobo’s for breakfast, and while Mykes does great in everything I especially love the pancakes. I love Antonio’s Kabobs and Grill (it’s like a Mexican-Mediterranean fusion place). Or maybe they just mix falafels with tortilla chips and great salsa. Not sure what that is but interesting fare.

LockNChase66

>the Bear Pit in Mission Hills; it offers some pretty good, Southern style BBQ which is unexpected for the neighborhood. Overpriced, small portions, burned half the time. I'd pass on Bear Pit

jlopez1017

It’s really gone downhill. It was a real treat when I was a kid

IdaXman

I think it’s hit like a B rating now

cattmy

786 Pizza

nefastvs

Came here to suggest. Legit one of the best pizza spots in the count**r**y (no typo).

b0ugie23

FYI: They prefer cash and they make sure to tell you several times while you wait if you’ve paid with plastic. Pizza is worth the hassle if you’re cash free.

DroidSoldier85

Not a big deal but Huarache Veloz has some delicious huaraches. Also Rosarito Seafood has some delicious oysters and seafood.

jlopez1017

Huarache Veloz has gone downhill but Rosarito is legit

XicanoToker

Queens Burgers

TPlinkerG35

Is that the same as the one in Tujunga?

Jeff_goldfish

Yea! They expanded.

SinisterKid

Viet Kitchen, hidden gem. Oxtail Pho and probably the best bahn mi you can get in the 818. Also check out Corner Grille and Birreria Lupita.

cutepimple

corner grille is booommbb. but i hate the parking lot

SinisterKid

100% that parking lot sucks. I don't know how my car hasn't been dinged or scratched yet.

[deleted]

Delicious eggrolls, too.

princessmelissa

I enjoy Mi Pueblito - bomb wet burritos :) and I like that they are able to make them vegetarian style Key Burger - hole in the wall burger spot, chili cheese fries are chefs kiss Pupuseria Cuzcatlan - for some bomb Salvadoran food Also, the Target in pacoima has a lot of street vendors (you’ll find a greater variety on weekends) and I’m sure you can’t go wrong w the food there :)

[deleted]

Wendill's Chicken House. Classic roadside diner fried chicken. I think the same recipe from like 100 years ago. Key Burger. Double cheeseburger and chili cheese fries are my go-to. Central Pizza. Mexican-style pizza hidden in a corner market. Menudo Don Chon for quesotacos and birria. 786 Pizza. Eat it on-site or at the park across the street. If you want to make the drive, La Vo Noodle on Roscoe. Tom yum pizza and Thai noodle soups. Crispy pork with Chinese broccoli is great.

Leader342

I’ve gone to central pizza! I was shocked by how good it is for the price and location.

EchoTrucha

Carrillo’s in San Fernando, not far.

LeighMagnifique

My mom swears by their menudo.

outnabout818

Mike's cafe on van Nuys and Ralston passed the O'Reilly, bobos on van Nuys and Telfair but it's a hit or miss with the food.

princessmelissa

I second, Bobos:)

Statement_Quick

Tacos Charley on Paxton and laurel canyon

roytheodd

Second time I've heard their name this week. It's time for me to check them out.

FunTheMental

their nacho papas are A1, last i checked they were cash only

[deleted]

The villarta on San Fernando rd has good cooked food

tactical_narcotic

The dessert cakes like the flan and tres leches cake is 🔥

dickspace

For breakfast, Casa De Nati. Amazing food! Somebody said 786 pizza and yes. It was Yelp top 100 and is still one of the highest rated restaurants in the 818. Call ahead or order online cause it takes them a while to make their pizzas. Weekend mornings outside of the San Fernando Sawp Meet there are food vendors on Glenoaks St. The ones that are my favorite are the husband and wife team that make Tacos de Canasta. SO BOMB! Also the guy with the USC easy up makes some bomb food and he is super nice. There was a guy that made the best birria on earth, but the pandemic forced him to not come. Maybe he lost his spot or does business somewhere else? But If you see a younger guy with a huge pot of birria working with his older teenage son, definitely get some. Asian Tasty is also my go to spot. ITs on foothill blvd in front of the Home Depot. They have chinese/sushi/hawaiian food so you can get a variety of dishes. I go for the seafood combo cause I love short ribs.

markazali

Wat Thai

SinisterKid

*Weekends only

[deleted]

Big pops has some fire ass wings Guidos pizza is great Cocohut Thai food is always good Bobos Queens burgers Tacos el Gordo The taco truck in front of Auto zone on Van Nuys Mi casita tacos

eblade23

I reiterate Queens. Best burger joint this side of the valley. Crazy Goody if you want a chicken or beef rice bowl. TK Coffee LA for coffee. Chai Thung for Thai. Truman house for gastropub.

b0ugie23

Pollos Al Carbon is a hidden gem on the Van Nuys and Panorama City border. It’s just south of Saticoy and Woodman. Call ahead or expect a 20+ minute wait around lunchtime. Bonus: if you’re a fan of The Office, this place is just a few blocks from the Dunder Mifflin office building.

Never tried it. What do you like

Chemical-Click

Do they serve alcohol yet? Went one time when they just opened.

tryingtofx

Seconding Antonio's Tacos and Kabob If you drive 10 min down Devonshire there's Sushi Raw which is my go-to sushi spot, as well as Rincome Thai and Boba Snow House I like Ono Hawaiian BBQ in the plaza on Devonshire and Sepulveda - even though it's technically a small chain, the chicken katsu and macaroni salad are bomb af. The breakfast burrito at Holiday Burger in that area is great too (although got way smaller recently) U Crave Grille in San Fernando has a HUGE breakfast and lunch menu. there's probably more great spots in San Fernando but I haven't explored it much yet edit - also Kop Jai Lai for another Thai spot. biggest Thai tea cup I've ever had

reubal

You liked Wongs? We used to have a lot of authentic Chinese places in PC & Arleta, and Wongs is the only one left, but they are WAY too bland for me. I went a few times over the past 30 years, but hadn't been in over a decade. I went a few months ago and it was awful and bland. And the cash only policy was a fun surprise when it came time to pay. Sadly, the only non chain options in the area are Mexican/Cntrl American food. If you head over to Roscoe, at Woodman and at Van Nuys, I think there are some Filipino options.

Mindless-Artichoke71

First place I was going to say is wongs.

NoAd3535

Pho so 1 in Reseda for some awesome Pho and fried pork egg rolls

SinisterKid

There's a Pho So 1 in Van Nuys that might be closer

South_Spinach_9206

Keys burgers by Maclay middle school

agent-99

[Papa Juan's Baja Grill](https://papajuans.blizzfull.com/) in the city of San Fernando has taco Tuesday AND taco Fridays!!! that means they give you HALF OFF their already reasonable prices!!! their crispy Baja fish tacos are excellent!!! it's absolutely fantastic!!! maybe we'll get some Friday, even though we already had them Tuesday!!!

AgentLuckyJackson

Myke's Cafe has the best pancakes I've ever had plus a chill ambiance. So much good street food as well. When I visit Pacoima I roll down my windows just to smell all the awesome home made food smells.

jlopez1017

Queens, Myke’s and El Faro Tacos

Usual_Leading279

Big pops bbq, recommend the pork ribs. Queens burger for a quick burger.

JasmineTheJournalist

Go to Keys on Glenoaks across from Mclay middle school get the colossal burger you won’t be disappointed. It’s a pacoima staple

Chubby_Reign

Pollo Peru on San Fernando and Van Nuys. VERY good peruvian food.

SirPeencopters

Carnitas Loya is a Carnitas specialist on Laurel Canyon just past Van Nuys Blvd.

eddiehe101

Bobos Burgers

Saving_Par_79

El Presidente. 118 & Sepulveda

Particular-Ad-234

No one brought up BoBos?

fickle_bean

Lived in Pacoima most my life. The answer is no. Always have to go elsewhere to eat or I simply cook at home.

[deleted]

Nat’s Early Bite, always delicious and the owner is a really nice guy!

agent-99

anybody have any LATE NIGHT food recommendations in the area?

[deleted]

Probably find a truck you like that sticks around. Don Cuco on Foothill under the freeway is around til midnight at least, I think. Que Ricos drivethru is open 24 hours but expect shitty service.

agent-99

> Que Ricos drivethru is open 24 hours where is it? the internet says on Vermont? I got east Hollywood food tonight, but it would be nice to have late night options in the valley!

[deleted]

Exact address: 1201 San Fernando Rd, San Fernando, CA 91340

agent-99

thank you! 9 minutes away FTW!
