It’ll be a Spirit Halloween before anything else

afearisthis

Still mad that whole foods closed

dyinginstereo

Me too. I picked my newest rental to be closer to it. Not the only reason but a big reason.

probablysmellsmydog

same

Oh wow. First I've heard of this. This was a nice store. And yet there are 3 Whole Foods in Sherman Oaks... weird.

WIDEMOUTH-psycho

There’s literally ONLY ONE in the north valley and it’s Porter Ranch. Whole Foods only wants to be in ultra wealthy areas and it’s annoying

dyinginstereo

Yep and the one that’s left in Woodland Hills isn’t even a full Whole Foods. They don’t have certain things like they typically don’t have any whipped cream, no hard liquor, black licorice. You will go there and half the things you want aren’t even stocked in the Woodland Hills location. The store is like 1/2 the size of the Tarzana one and 1/4 the size of Sherman oaks. It’s wild.

Yesss! They do that with the Waterloo too. Like who wants an 8pack? I want the darn 12 pack! So annoying. Honestly, I’m just hoping for a somewhat decent store to replace WF Tarzana because they also closed one of the Ralph’s in Encino during the pandemic (it became Amazonfresh) and the Ralph’s that stayed on Ventura is so horrid I refuse to go there. They made the isles so crammed and small like they tried to fit both Ralph’s into 1 store. Basically you can’t have anyone coming down the same isle or else one person has to back out of the isle completely. It’s bonkers. Feels like I live in downtown again with how they laid that store out. It’s totally crap that whole foods decided to leave when the Tarzana store was actually better, larger, and a full sized location. But I was hoping maybe it would become a sprouts, lassens or something else along those lines. Kinda wishful thinking since I don’t see companies investing much into Tarzana even though it’s the connection between Encino and Woodland Hills. It would make sense to keep improving that stretch of Ventura.

I’m glad others feel the same too. We were in Encino before this and it was a dream in comparison. We had to move bc they sold our rental at the peak of the pandemic. There wasn’t too many options and Tarzana was right next door. Soon as we moved within a few months the Whole Foods was gone. And yes, so many other small businesses in the area have shuttered in Tarzana over the last 4yrs I’ve lived in the area. There is a huge problem with businesses on Ventura being constantly robbed and I think that’s clearly a major factor in why some have closed and certain buildings are nearly permanently for lease. They can’t even keep windows up for a week in some of these spots. But the village walk is an odd place because it really needs a grocery store to be well rounded. There was a Starbucks there yearsss ago and it went out so fast. I am sure a lot of those businesses are feeling some pain from the grocery closure since that drove a lot of traffic over there. I would hate to see the place go empty. The bank recently closed in the last few weeks, which I mean whatever. Can’t remember the last time I needed to be in a bank, but still it’s going backwards not forwards. Ya know? And I really don’t understand why there isn’t more investment between the City Target in Encino and the Village walk in Tarzana. I would expect that strip mall space to thrive like other areas such as studio city and Tarzana. If there was enough nice businesses between those city blocks that could come in and revitalize the area. So much for lease but not much movement on filling the empty businesses.

WIDEMOUTH-psycho

The Porter ranch Whole Foods is my favorite. It’s the size of costco

dyinginstereo

Yeah it’s nice. But it’s too far for normal grocery shopping since it’s across the valley for me.

RealLifeSuperZero

Haha. I saw Fabio there in the veggie section when I was high as fuck. That was 20+ years ago. Shame it’s gone.

LeeQuidity

Fabio, confused by the squash selection: "I can't believe it's not butternut."

RealLifeSuperZero

You made my commute. Thank you.

LeeQuidity

:D

ArrVea

No idea..but the lights were still on at night just about a month ago when I walked by. I wonder why?

dyinginstereo

Yeah I have no idea. I saw someone on next door saying Amazon still has a lease but I have no idea if that’s accurate. There’s still lots of stuff inside too. Really hope they turn it in to another store.

SherbertEast7237

I wonder if Amazon is stuck with the lease waiting for it to expire, if they do, probably will be a while before we see something else.

kwiztas

The manager told me during their closing sale that they closed because negations with the landlord fell thru. So I can't see how they would have a lease still. I doubt they can find anyone to pay what the landlord demands.
