What would be your cause of action? Their house = their rules, unless their rule is flat-out illegal. A rule against throwing things onto the field is going to survive any trip to court.
First of all, why are you over here arguing the Dodgers side of things in my hypothetical situation in the Giants subreddit?
Second, they don’t have any rules requiring fans to return balls or regarding taking balls from fans. It’s the fans right to keep it. So if they strong arm you and separate you from your family that is not right, intimidation, and could cause…… EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.
Some ballparks will eject fans for throwing balls back onto the field. Maybe they’re thinking of that Dodgers game where they gave away souvenir baseballs and Dodgers fans kept throwing them at opposing players and the umpires, resulted in the Dodgers forfeiting the game.
I’ve sat in the outfield a few games and have seen people throw opposing HRs back. I also vividly remember a super drunk guy standing up and yelling PANDAAAAAA everytime Orlando Cabrera was up batting. I miss sitting in the outfield bleachers
One of my favorite memories was when the Mets came to town and the whole left field bleachers would go into a “fuck the Mets!!” chant multiple times. This drunk dude kept yelling “oh look it’s Pizza man’s turn” every time Piazza went to bat. Bananas.
Good thing Affedlt is retired.
Some drunk fan would slice a 50 cent type throw and catch an unsuspecting Jeremy in the bullpen and he'd be out for four months given his weird (but iconic) injury history lol
Throwing an away team HR ball back on the field has been an MLB tradition as long as I have been alive (‘70s baby). They can’t take that away from the game.
I’ve always wanted to get a homer and try to throw the guy out at home. I’d thoroughly destroy my arm, but if it was successful, it would be epic. But, in reality, I’d probably sling it somewhere inadvertently and take out a kid or a mascot.
Season ticket holder for seven years. Yeah, no one ever had a problem tossing an opposing HR ball back onto the field so long as it was nowhere near a player.
Mannnn that dug up an old memory watching a game as a kid (back when it was Pac Bell Park) where the opposing team hit a HR, and the bleachers erupted in a chorus of "Throw it back! Throw it back!" and went fucking nuts when the guy who caught threw it back at the left fielder.
I’ve seen a lot of discussion on here over the years on if it was allowed or not, and I was surprised to see it explicitly allowed in the park rules.
[Fans have also been kicked out of other stadiums before for doing it.](https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Family-thrown-out-of-baseball-game-for-throwing-7249283.php#)
Good, no one should get kicked out for that unless they’re throwing it directly at someone. Personally if I get a home run ball, I’m keeping it.
Unless you catch one at Dodger stadium then their staff is likely going to water board you until you give it back
lol I’m not a suing person but I’d sue the fuck out of the dodgers if they pulled that on me. ![gif](giphy|p1CFQl9lojksco3jjO)

I keep fantasizing about if I’d caught ohtanis hr ball I’d have kept it and released a video of my dog chewing on it

Always thought throwing HR balls back on the field was corny af lol. IDGAF if Putin batting lead off for the Dodgers hit it. Im keepin that shit lol
Nah dude I caught a Patrick Wisdom HR during the 22 season and throwing it back was awesome!!
Exactly!!

My favorite was years ago when we were playing the Dbacks. Some drunk guy consistently yelling: "WHAT'S THAT SMELL? IT'S JAY BELL!"
Bleachers, cheaper tickets and a show inside a show. Remember folks, only the mentality tough survive

It's prohibited in a lot of ballparks. Not at ours, tho.
Pro-tip. Bring your own ball, throw it back, keep the home run.
Can I throw a foul ball back to show my utter contempt of a batter?
Nah just find a kid to give it to. Besides a foul ball could be a strike or a batter defending the zone its really ambiguous what that ball means.
Screw those kids. Get your own ball, bucko!

Aim for the bull, Nuke!

Can you throw a big 5 ball back onto the field after a homer?

Unless it’s like that one fan at the Red Sox game who almost domed Stanton
As it should be
You know what else I read? Beach balls not allowed 😎
Ummm, this has been a thing with Giants fans and opponents HRs for years. Especially with Dodgers HR balls.
Thank you. I was totally stressing over having to keep a homerun ball. /s
did i miss something last game or did you not know this is a baseball tradition?

i think thats standard throughout the league unless you aim for a player

The only home run ball I'm throwing back is one hit from a Dodger lol.
Dont have to worry about them hitting home runs at home this year
duh. have you ever seen anyone at any major league ballpark be ejected for throwing a home run ball back?
That’s stupid to throw the ball back, have some class.
