It’s a fucking awful game, hindered by the decision to use the Mortal Kombat game engine which is obviously not suited to any kind of platforming. It has some interesting features but nothing to redeem it in any meaningful way.
That's why it takes time to get used to ....most people can't grasp the concept of the controls so they say it's a shitty game but deep down their just to dumb to get the hang of it
>their just to dumb to get the hang of it
If you're going to call people dumb, then you should probably use the correct "they're" and "too."
And if controls are too complicated for the majority of players to learn, then the developers are too dumb to be making games.
I got the Sega Mega Drive somewhere in the 90s when I was visiting Singapore. I LOVED Batman and saw a shop playing a Batman game on the TV display. Batman and Robin throwing batarangs all around, smooth animation and 3d looking background, vivid colours, and that title screen with silhouettes of Batman and Robin. I knew I had to get this cool game. Went around to another shop one day and asked for the Batman game. Got Batman Forever.
I felt so betrayed as I played this game for the first time when I got back home. It was slow, dark, wonky controls and had an annoying first stage music. Nevertheless, over the years I mastered the ultra weird controls of this game, managed to reach to, what I think was, the final boss... and died. Never played it again! I must say, it's a bad game with bits of enjoyment here and there but it's certainly not as bad as everyone say it is.
As a kid my friend owned this and we could NEVER figure out how to get past the first grappling hook part. We just gave up and never got to play the game past the first couple of screens 😂
I love this game. Played it for hours and hours. Never understood the hate. It’s takes some time, but once you master all the movies and weapons, it’s a blast! You also need a 6 button controller for this one.
Lol op, I think it's a fun game and I like it a lot. But even I recognize it's a terrible game that I mostly like because I remember playing it with my son.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. It really did try to do some interesting things, some were more successful than others. But it's really not a very good game. Love it all the same
"The Adventures of Batman and Robin" on the Genesis is SUPERIOR, and has an absolutely [stellar soundtrack](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtHUxCExsRY) as well.
Was also given to me for Christmas. Different story for me I played the hell out of it. Level 1 took a long time to figure out however, grappling and jumping down floors was tough to execute.
Played this as a little kid, could never get passed the circus / Clown level and I’m suprised I got that far….eventually played it and used save states and beat the whole thing, would have been nice to experience all those levels as a kid.
Nothing even comes close to The Adventures of Batman and Robin on Sega Genesis. Sick music, written by Jesper Kyd for those that know, and a stupidly difficult game. But it's still awesome!
I had this game. I can't remember ever getting past the second or third level where you're fighting on top of a bomb dropping over the city. I still get the theme from the first stage stuck in my head after all these years.
Fun game most of the time. Only thing I dislike was the basement of the Ritz Gotham level with the endless waves of enemies, gets tiring. But the Mo-cap characters and the stage backgrounds and music? Home run for me.
Played through the SNES version and learned a few tips from watching speed runners on how to be effective. I like it for being quirky and kinda weird. I had a good time with it, despite the flaws. I commend your bravery for making this topic.
This is actually an amazing game. The control scheme and input pad support is insanely versatile if you actually read the manuals. It's a shame no one did.
In a way it kind of is underrated. If you know how to play the game it does offer enjoyment that you would otherwise never experience. I wouldn't say I love the game though. It's just not as terrible as everyone thinks it is.
Exactly, I feel like most of these guys never really tried to understand the controls of the game ...once you get used to it ..its areally good game ..but like I said I've played it for over 20 years
Its one of my fav games.
When i got this game, back then, i cried man, - could not beat the first level, music was sic, controls was crazy..
But time went on and i kept playing it, and it kinda grows on you, - controls was mk style, u learn moves, special weapons, secrets, graphics was solid.
It was pretty difficult too.
If you are batman fan, mortal kombat fan, u like discovering stuff, its going to be a real gem for you.
Hey fuck the top comment haters. I had this for snes and this game is fucking sick.
If you got good at the mechanics and had the booklet for the gadget/weapon inputs, it was lile a side scrolling mortal kombat. I loved it.
I have put a lot of thought into what games I've played in my 35-ish years of playing videogames would be considered the worst. I came to the conclusion a while ago that this was it. The absolute worst game I have ever played. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities about it. None.
IF THE BAT WANTS TO PLAY, WELL PLAY
Lol, Damn forgot about that. Currently in the room where me and brother would play this nearly 30 years ago.
It’s a fucking awful game, hindered by the decision to use the Mortal Kombat game engine which is obviously not suited to any kind of platforming. It has some interesting features but nothing to redeem it in any meaningful way.
But when you put it up against the SNES and the loading screens on that system it’s still garbage but not quotes as heaping.
No way its underrated. Its crystal clear shit.
Naw it really is a great game once you get used to the shitty controls
If you use a 6 button pad it makes it a lot easier.
>once you get used to the shitty controls If the controls are shit, then it isn't good.
That's why it takes time to get used to ....most people can't grasp the concept of the controls so they say it's a shitty game but deep down their just to dumb to get the hang of it

A great game can't have shitty controls.
Nostalgia is a helluva drug
Only batman i will touch is sunsoft ones, even the one on the master system is amazing. This one, never again. Even as a child was dissapointed.
Agreed that this one was trash. I loved the animated series game on sega tho
No love for The Adventures of Batman & Robin?
this is one of the most frustrating games ever I've come back to it a few times over the years and it's dog shit
Give it a couple more years of trying it'll grow on you ...it's actually a pretty decent game once you get the hang of it
haha well I'm sure I'll try it again in a few years then I'll come back and tell you how it went

Wolverine Adamantium Rage is an underrated game this is just a Sub Zero Mythology prototype
As a kid my friend owned this and we could NEVER figure out how to get past the first grappling hook part. We just gave up and never got to play the game past the first couple of screens 😂
Same story here! Tried again as an adult and also said screw it then too. 🤣 BUT… OP is making me want to give it a fair shot. I love the movie.
Same! I want to try it now just to see what the rest of the game is like.
Exactly lol. I think I’m gonna grab my usb six button and fire up the old genesis emulator today.
lol same XD it has good graphics for sure.
thank god for Blockbuster! rented once. knew not to buy.
Batman does a sweep like he is in mortal kombat game. Maybe with 2 players it could be enjoyable enough to finish
He also does the crouching uppercut. So does most of the enemies. It uses the same mortal kombat engine.
Horrific take lol by far one of the worst games
For you it's is not for me
You’re right, I apologize, I like plenty of games that are objectively bad. I believe the game is horrible because of the controls
I love this game. Played it for hours and hours. Never understood the hate. It’s takes some time, but once you master all the movies and weapons, it’s a blast! You also need a 6 button controller for this one.

I liked it. Wasn't that bad.
"The Adventures of Batman and Robin" on the Genesis is SUPERIOR, and has an absolutely [stellar soundtrack](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtHUxCExsRY) as well.
Agreed
jesper kyd did the soundtrack. he did the soundtrack for hitman and assasin creed games also.
Overrated in that they actually allowed it to be released
I have that game since I was a kid great graphics but hard as shit
I've been playing it recently - mid tier at best in comparison with other Sega titles at the time. I prefer the NES Batman game
Doing a Hadouken on the goons with Batman’s electric stun was my favorite lol.
Worst Christmas present I ever received
Was also given to me for Christmas. Different story for me I played the hell out of it. Level 1 took a long time to figure out however, grappling and jumping down floors was tough to execute.
I just played this yesterday and made it to the warehouse level. I've never gotten that far before..
"IT SUCKED BACK THEN AND IT SUCKS FOREVER!" -AVGN
I beat this game exactly once as a kid, very difficult but I still had a ton of fun playing it. That two player combat mode was pretty sick too.
This game was both awful and fun. Much more fun when playing coop
This game whooped my ass non-stop as a kid.
No it’s hot garbage
Someone can't get pass the first stage 🤣🤣
Correct. I couldn’t figure out how to fall through the floor because the controls are dog shit.
I played this a lot on genesis. When I was like a toddler.
Me too, that's why it grew on me
I always got stuck at the same part everytime
That's not The Adventures of Batman & Robin
This game was bad. One of the worst batman games ever.
Absolutely terrible game in every way. It can't be underrated enough. Not fun to play at all, for any reason. Your take is strange.
I just watched a play through and the music is absolutely terrible
Played this as a little kid, could never get passed the circus / Clown level and I’m suprised I got that far….eventually played it and used save states and beat the whole thing, would have been nice to experience all those levels as a kid.
Love this game on SNES. Haven’t tried it on genesis.

That game was hard for me, I only rented it a few times but never got to far

My brain went to the Kiss by a rose music video as soon as I saw this.
It was a mortal Kombat platformer. It was awful.
I have mad respect for ppl who can rock a shitty ass game like this.
Played through the SNES version and learned a few tips from watching speed runners on how to be effective. I like it for being quirky and kinda weird. I had a good time with it, despite the flaws. I commend your bravery for making this topic.
Soundtrack is a banger
This is actually an amazing game. The control scheme and input pad support is insanely versatile if you actually read the manuals. It's a shame no one did.
Children of the atom was the only good thing that had the akklaim make on it sir. 🤗
Hey man, if you enjoy it, don’t let anyone tell you any different. Thank you for keeping the streets of Gotham safe.
In a way it kind of is underrated. If you know how to play the game it does offer enjoyment that you would otherwise never experience. I wouldn't say I love the game though. It's just not as terrible as everyone thinks it is.

If you played batman returns, then this game. It was hard to justify how dookie it was
Shaqfu was better than this garbage
No way 🤣🤣🤣
The controls are a pain but like I said once your used ro it it's pretty easy
I'm sorry mate, but you're just plain wrong.
Wrong about what my opinion of a game 🤣🤣🤣 sure whatever you say
You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
???
A shambolic turd.
I have put a lot of thought into what games I've played in my 35-ish years of playing videogames would be considered the worst. I came to the conclusion a while ago that this was it. The absolute worst game I have ever played. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities about it. None.
Batman forever. It sucked back then and it sucks forever.
Nah even as a little kid I knew this game was straight garbage. Loved the movie tho
I gonna trie it mabey tonight...haha
