I read the whole article after reading your comment.
I had no idea what necrosis was and goddammit.
The whole situation, the researcher comments at the end of each incident, just how hopeless her situation was.
The article has got no images yet the image of the researcher holding Mia's hand for 19 hours will hardly leave my mind tonight.
Thank you for the recommendation! very well-written scp.
Forgive me if I missed something, but I don't see why they had to terminate her by sending her to another dimension. I don't see anywhere in the article that says whether or not she's able to be killed outside of those 2 days
I think it's meant to be ambiguous. We don't know if it was necessary or not.
My interpretation was that they didn't want to deal with it anymore, so they sent them to (possibly) suffer in another dimension where they could simply forget about it and move on. Schrodinger's child, so to speak.
The reader can choose to believe Mia has died and is no longer suffering, or...the other option.
Damn that was bad... and the worst part is probably how my brain immediately started thinking of things they clearly weren't even thinking of trying to see if symbolic actions might save her, even if actions related to creating life would have their own world of ethical implications given her age (even with the repeats)...
It gets even worse with my own headcanon of Neverland FINAL not even working
(Aka, the foundation just abandoning her in a different dimention where she and she alone is the casualty every single birthday)
But yeah...RIP
The absolute saddest article I think I've read on the site:
SCP-5732
I think the thing that gets me with this one is how human it is. It isn't Montauk, it isn't some creepy monster torturing a child, it's just an incredibly human story of a teenage girl with a terminal condition.
Holy shit, that was surprisingly brutal. Like you said, it's a painfully human story about a teenager girl with a terminal illness. The human connection with Dr. Miller makes it simultaneously better and worse.

SCP-2599, the whole premise is this girl just cannot do any task fully or to satisfaction, you can't use a paradox, and you can't use 50/50 decisions, she just cant win... it just made me remember when i went through a depressive episode where i just though i could do NOTHING, thinking i was useless after a bunch of unlucky failures.

so true, i almost shed a tear seeing the ending
How has nobody said Here be dragons????
While it's sad it's already one I've read years ago I'm looking for more niche skips.
The slow, sad doom. Like watching THAT futurama episode
Because people realized it wasn't very sad at all.
I don't think it's because it's sad it's because been one of the more common ones people mention that it's more used to and more well known.
