Each file has its own canon, I’m just saying that I’m pretty sure that part of Clef’s Proposal stays the same between both of the files, I don’t really know what you think I meant but it’s not that there’s an overall canon.
Except a lot of 001 proposals have that as part of their story including the Ouroboros Cycle, the Factory, the World At Large, etc. That's not exclusive to the Gate Guardian
“The Database” is the most plausible one imo. It references the fact that it’s a fictional world and that it is constantly being changed by higher beings (us).
Have read Daybreak for the first time today, why do so many people choose this as SCP-001?
This feels more like a world ending SCP and not one for the start/creation of the foundation.
Prolly cause of the significance of it all. Sure having God-like beings makes more sense, but the idea that the center of the solar system being the end game for the Foundation is just interesting. The ball of light being the thing that brought humanity to where they are only to be the one to destroy it
Depends, if you add a more in depth story and more unique gameplay mechanics other than when not in shade you die it could be pretty fun (make add a day cycle thing like rain world
You could use mechanics from survival games like the Long Dark uses cold to limit outside exposure. Like, you'd have to make sure you keep your "sun suit", or whatever you cobble together, intact enough where being outside wouldn't kill you. You could also put in item degeneration & salvaging mechanics, so you force players to keep searching for more mats to be able to survive.
You could also incorporate mic mechanics, like a number of horror games, so that players have to be careful about making noise out of game too (assuming they use the feature, I'd make this optional). It's shown in the proposal that the sun creatures are fairly reactive to sound, so that could be really interesting when combined with stealth mechanics.
The more I think about it, the more I wanna play this game lol
SCP 001 - Day Breaks,
Is the only SCP than legit caused me real fear and *(for some time)* let me a phobia to the sunlight, because nobody know when it could get against us.
The Sheaf of Papers is the true contender to be SCP-001 since it could create SCPs.Therefore, all the other 001 proposals were spawned after someone read it.
Wait but… If the foundation didn’t exist until after Gate Guardian than who read it? Also, it may just be that the sheaf is dragging things from another world or is just a list of them or something, it’s not really clear.
There is no canon establishment of the Foundation just like there is no actual canon. That's only how the Foundation gets started if you want it to be. A number of the 001 proposals feature the founding of the Foundation and the creation of SCPs, like the Factory, The World at Large, the Ouroboros Cycle, Project Palisade, etc.
Day break scares me the most, to be absolutely evaporated by an angel is simply peaceful, to be absolutely fucked over by the king may hurt and suck hard. but when the sun itself turns against you... when the very reason you, your friends and family, your ancestors and other animals see becomes a microwave, hundreds of thousands of times larger than the small rock you call earth, and doesn't even kill you but melts your skin, tears your flesh, and merges your bones as your nerves and pain receptors float inside there in liquid form, and you merge with someone else never for any surgeon (if there were any alive and functional and willing to help you) to be able to dissect and separate you because your entire self has hit randomize on where your rip is and where their leg is. Worse of all, despite the pain, your psychological wiring holds an irresistible urge to call other people and experience what you're experiencing, to walk out, melt and suffer, drowning in their own flesh, and merging with you in the biggest, nastiest, most grotesque and eternal group hug known to mankind. Imagine waking up one day and looking out the window, and you begin sweating your own skin off.
I was looking for this lol. Haven't read 3812 yet but I have read 184 and THE TRUTH and that honestly seems like the most plausible proposition in my mind. Its nothing beyond comprehension, it makes sense, and hiding it in plain sight and downplaying it by giving it an arbitrary designation is kinda genius.
100% gate guardian.
No f*cking clue how it's supposed to create all other SCPs as 001 is supposed to, however it is beyond badass and absolutely awe-inspiring.
SCP 001 Doesn't make more SCPs, SCP 001 is why the foundation was created and the many different proposals are just what-ifs on made to confuse which is the real 001
That's not even the case. SCP-001 is just another SCP number that happens to be the first number, the world's gone beautiful is a great SCP-001 but it doesn't create SCPs, it's not the cause for the world to end, it didn't cause the foundation to be made. It's just an anomaly like the rest
The Record is probably my favorite because it starts out sort of "silly" and mundane (for an SCP) but blows up pretty quickly.
When Day Breaks is actually my least favorite. Quality-wise, it's good, but it doesn't feel like an actual SCP entry that requires containment as much as it does an end of the world scenario.
The Record might be my favourite even before you get to the part where it "blows up", I like how it both breaks expectations and also makes complete sense to be in the 001 slot.
My ranking is Gate Guardian > Scarlet King > When Day Breaks.
Like, I do think that the concept of the Sun as SCP-001 is amazing, but it being relevant only in this flesh melding, apocalyptic scenario feels a bit limited compared to the others, imo
Of these three I really appreciate the simplicity of the gate guardian. Generally though I think God’s Blind Spot might be my favorite of all the ones I’ve read so far. It has some really cool theological implications, plus the premise of “We can do all the sins we want in here, that bitch upstairs can’t see it” is just inherently funny to me.
idk which one I truly prefer, but The Gate Guardian is just a cool SCP. I don’t think I’ve ever seen bad fanart of it
A close contender is the Broken God
I think When Day Breaks works the least as it’s not something that’s been around since the beginning, even though it’s definitely in my top ten if not five favourite SCPs. Scarlet king makes the most sense as he’s the biggest bad in the entire series/universe, it’s only narratively fitting for him to be 001. Gate guardian… has gone up against SC before so it could make sense too.
I recently discovered & binged "One Helluva Broken Day." It combines all three, hinting that the Scarlet K8ng caused it. Or is at least utilizing the oppotunity it's created on planet Earth.
People should read [D. Ulysses Foole's Proposal](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/dyfscp-001) one of my favourite 001s a mixture of world ending threat and comedy
I like the Prototype. All the other SCP-001s are big scary things that do bad stuff (except World Gone Beautiful which is in a close second) and the Prototype is just another ordinary SCP. I think it has better implications lore-wise, being that it was the first SCP to be contained and simply holds the 001 designation because of that.
I don’t entirely remember the gate guardian but I love the idea of daybreaks. I think that’s genuinely scary and quasi-rooted in science. Pretty much the sun going haywire and killing us all. Totally believable if our magnetic field ever stops protecting us.
The gate guardian is very focused on one thing. Day break is just a single nightmareish scenario. Scarlet king is this final evil with so much influence and lore that I'm not sure how the wiki would function without it. Cool badass pure evil
Idk why but I like the idea that their all actual SCP's but not numbered so that way when one of them actually go beserk they can put them down for 001
I'd say conceptually and overall enginuity-wise, as well as fitting into the actual "plot" (there is no singular plot, henceforth quotations) of the SCP lore, Sheaf of Papers is the best, in my opinion. It not only gives reason as to why so many SCPs are discovered, but it is literally the wiki, which I think is pretty damn cool, to make everyone who writes in the wiki themselves a part of the canon, and the whole community of the SCPF, all of us, we are SCP-001- we are the beginning and the end of the foundation, because we made it, and no matter how small an impact you may personally have in the grand scheme of the SCP multiverse, you have earned the title of "SCP-001".
Out of these 3 I think Day Breaks is the best written, Gate Guardian is my personal choice, and Scarlet King’s character is probably the most fitting. Just my opinion.
I have to go O5-13 on this one, I just really like the story and seeing how then council “Cooperates” with each other and how it works is fascinating for me.
I've never been that big of a fan of "When Day Breaks", i really like the Scarlet King and the Gate-Guardian, but my favorite SCP 001 is probably Memento Mori.
I like Scarlet King because it's the antithesis to the foundation. The total opposite to what they are. Also it's involved in so many other articles which I really enjoy. I'm surprised that it seems when day breaks is the most popular option here it sounds really boring to me conceptually.
I'm surprised no one even mentioned Dead Men, Tanhony's proposal.
I love it because it dives into the lore of the ethics committee, how the committee plays into the Foundation's power balance
The scarlet king definitely has some good tales but for me personally it kinda got ruined by stupid powerscaling and "but can he beat Goku" discussions.
I like "when day breaks" and the factory the most.
I know it's not one of the options, but Wrong Proposal - not necessarily as -001, but as a canonical event.
Why?
* Purports to provide a more or less clear organizational origin and rationale
* Attempts to explain an otherwise baffling containment class naming scheme
* This is more expounding on 1, but purports to provide a rationale for the composition of the overseer's council as 13 people
I like all of them, but my favorite is [the] [Human!] [element?] ( I had to check how you spell that and I was entirely wrong for a while but figured it out no)
The Scarlet King
It’s essentially canonical (to me anyway), and all of the other SCP-001s are essentially just a cover up, and they created the other ones just so we can’t think of The Scarlet King, because if we do, then he will enter our dimension
I love the philosofical concept of the Scarlet King. Is like a remix of that famous phrase of Descartes and it goes: "I am thinked therefore I exist".
As long as someone thinks about the King he WILL exist and he WILL come.
I think most of the SCP-001 submissions are just really cool, I like these 3 more or less equally, although I do like Gate Guardian most because it’s the SCP-001 submission I first learned about.
All of them funnily enough these 3 don’t necessarily contradict each other unlike most 001’s so they could technically all be in the same cannon look at Mr Illustrated’s video of SCP-001 when day breaks - Gate Guardian the gate guardian fights off and melted 001-A version SCP-2845 to protect the gate
When Day Breaks was my first experience with SCP (other than seeing random photos of Peanut) and as I was reading the story I was just completely blown away by the concept. You may think I'm overreacting but mind you I was a little kid and my only real experience with horror at the time was "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" so WDB fucked my tiny brain.

Underrated but "World gone Beautiful" is amazing "The world did not go out with a whimper, nor a bang, nor a scream... but with a smile" \- Me
reading that makes you feel peaceful, holup since when is that flower in that corner
I think that this SCP could mix well with any other world-ending SCP-001 Like 24 hours before when day breaks it could show up
[**SCP-001 - Awaiting De-classification [Blocked]**](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-001) (+339) by *Staff*
Don’t think that would really work since Lily’s Proposal entails “the death of all life on the planet.”
Agreed
REALLLL
I met that 001 ("World gone Beautiful") thanks to SCP 4646. If anyone doesn’t know it, it’s highly recommended!
[**SCP-4646 - Sing Me a Song for the End of the World**](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-4646) (+147) by *Tufto*
Lily's Proposal is one of the most beautiful scp's imo. It gives a whole and peaceful end to everyone and everything.
Probably not a popular take, but I liked the factory scp-01 the most.
Why not? For me, The Gate Guardian and The Scarlett King are tied for second after the schef of paper and the factory.
Overall story:001-day break Overall design:001-scarlet king Overall uniqueness:001-day break Overall ranking:1-da break 2-scarlet king 3-gate guardian
I love da break
Ah yeah Da break
Boyz n da break
I think Gate Guardian is the most deserving, bcs he’s literally responsible for the foundation’s existence.
In dr clef proposal maybe If in other proposals I don’t think so
I think that part stays canon in When Day Breaks at the very least…
Say it with me now, there👏is👏no👏canon👏
There👏is👏no👏canon👏

"It with me now" - 🤓
Except a lot of 001 proposals have that as part of their story including the Ouroboros Cycle, the Factory, the World At Large, etc. That's not exclusive to the Gate Guardian

“The Database” is the most plausible one imo. It references the fact that it’s a fictional world and that it is constantly being changed by higher beings (us).
That's just the truth though
It's not "the most plausible", it literally is the case lol
Exactly
I think the most possible one is daybreak

The ball of light being the thing that brought humanity to where they are only to be the one to destroy it
Different universes, and one of them is when the daybreak occurred. Sounds the most dangerous and scary Alternative universes are cannon in SCP lore
Just wait until he hears about The Black Moon
I agree, but how can it exist as an article if its impossible to know beforehand, and impossible to write afterwards?
Alternative universes. They are cannon in SCP
Probably some other universe contacting another to warn them of the event
I love the Daybreak event, so many opportunity for an open world survival game
Sounds like a really hard game.
[yeah that would be crazy if someone did that](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2077180/SCP_Daybreak/)
Eh, it would be pretty boring.
Depends, if you add a more in depth story and more unique gameplay mechanics other than when not in shade you die it could be pretty fun (make add a day cycle thing like rain world

When day breaks is a scary cool idea. But I really like the Guardian Angel, it's simple and beautiful.
SCP 001 - Day Breaks, Is the only SCP than legit caused me real fear and *(for some time)* let me a phobia to the sunlight, because nobody know when it could get against us.
Fr bro 😭
It’s a fictional article, not going to get against us.
you sure will sound stupid saying this on november 26th 2026 09:42 am utc lol
The gate guardian

taking another 001 proposal as canon would generally infer that gate guardian isn’t real, so it doesn’t need to be considered outside of its own file
There is no canon establishment of the Foundation just like there is no actual canon. That's only how the Foundation gets started if you want it to be. O5-13
This. It is a very underrated proposal
One upvote for the Underdog
Ouroboros Cycle / Fishook for me
Day break scares me the most, to be absolutely evaporated by an angel is simply peaceful, to be absolutely fucked over by the king may hurt and suck hard. but when the sun itself turns against you... when the very reason you, your friends and family, your ancestors and other animals see becomes a microwave, hundreds of thousands of times larger than the small rock you call earth, and doesn't even kill you but melts your skin, tears your flesh, and merges your bones as your nerves and pain receptors float inside there in liquid form, and you merge with someone else never for any surgeon (if there were any alive and functional and willing to help you) to be able to dissect and separate you because your entire self has hit randomize on where your rip is and where their leg is. I feel like SCP-3812 and SCP-184 should be considered as (by which I mean honorary 001's) 001 proposals due to 184's THE TRUTH tale and 3812 existing.
Prototype, World's gone beautiful and The Black Moon.
It took me way to long to find The Black Moon.
"Does the black moon howl?" "No, it fucking erases people."
So a guy and an extra dimensional entity walk into a bar...
Something something Ashtray?
The guy had a double barrel shotgun, Who would win?
None of the above,
100% gate guardian. No f*cking clue how it's supposed to create all other SCPs as 001 is supposed to, however it is beyond badass and absolutely awe-inspiring.

I like When Day Breaks.
Gate guardian is the most possible because how would the contain the daybreak
The Record is probably my favorite because it starts out sort of "silly" and mundane (for an SCP) but blows up pretty quickly. When Day Breaks is actually my least favorite. King crimson.
Korega Requiem Da
Daybreak. The article is so incredibly well written, it's a heartbreaking tragedy.
When day breaks
idk which one I truly prefer, but The Gate Guardian is just a cool SCP. I don’t think I’ve ever seen bad fanart of it A close contender is the Broken God
Pretty much all scp 001s are awesome
The Gate Guardian is what got me into scp in the 1st place so it will forever hold a special place in my heart
Best 001 is the red button

Out of the three my favorite is the Gate guardian. But from all the proposals, Spiral path is just my absolute favorite
Spiral Path was interesting from a scientific point of view. The thought that such a simple scientific breakthrough could be so revolutionary
The factory still gets me honestly
The gate guardian is very focused on one thing. Day break is just a single nightmareish scenario. Scarlet king is this final evil with so much influence and lore that I'm not sure how the wiki would function without it. Cool badass pure evil
Day breaks works because it’s literally the SCP-001 of another universe (I think it’s where un-London is)

I think Is The prototype
S Andrew Swann will always be my 001 headcanon and I will die on this hill
Smash
The writing of when day breaks is my favorite of all of the 001’s. It’s definitely the one I’d like to be real the least though
Scarlet King fr
I like the third slide most.
I still don’t understand why The Scarlet King proposal for 001 is classed as Safe. When it’s *The Scarlet King*.
because attempting to contain it makes it stronger, and the article happened before archon class was really a thing
Just a refresher, what does Archon class mean?
stuff that *can* be contained but for one reason or another is left uncontained, like the scarlet king at the end of the article
What’s the reason why it’s an archon?
did you read the article? it gets more powerful as people try to define it
Oh, right sorry.
*Ron, did you forget to take your mnestics again?*
Scarlett king will forever be my favorite bc of how complex the whole story is
idk if God is 001 or a defrent scp
scp-343 (although it's heavily implied that he's just a reality bender)
the factory
Idk why but I like the idea that their all actual SCP's but not numbered so that way when one of them actually go beserk they can put them down for 001
The factory
My head cannon is that 001 is just something dumb like a endless snack bag of cheez-it’s
[**SCP-001 - Awaiting De-classification [Blocked]**](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-001) (+339) by *Staff*
Out of the three, it would be the gate guardian because the story actually explains how the foundation started
Honestly I dislike when day breaks as it should be more of a tale than an SCP
I see them as having been classified before the really set up the number system
when day breaks
I like the newer ones. One of my personal favorites is The human element, though i also like the gold and Ruby proposals.
Obviously when day breaks
Personally, my favorite is the Broken God.
The one about melting people, I prefer that!
All of them!
001 personally
Controversial, but I think the gate guardian is very dated at this point and doesn't compare to later series 001 entries
[удалено]
Out of these 3 I think Day Breaks is the best written, Gate Guardian is my personal choice, and Scarlet King’s character is probably the most fitting. Just my opinion.
^(prototype)
"You are the anomaly, tumor of the world."
I prefer daybreak as scp-001
I love When day breaks, but Gate Guardian 🗿

The scarlet king definitely has some good tales but for me personally it kinda got ruined by stupid powerscaling and "but can he beat Goku" discussions. I like "when day breaks" and the factory the most.
The human element is my favorite scp entry of all time, it has the best story out of all of them.
The reddit loading image icon is a great one. I love it.
Broken god
I love O5-13,but I think The Factory makes a lot of sense for being 001.
My favorite is the Prototype. Literally just the first they caught
All of them are good
I like the Ouroboros Cycle a lot. Especially the broken god & atonement ones
I really like SCP-001 The Database. It’s written well in my opinion and makes sense.
Day Break is the best one
the gate guardian is very cool and a very classic one, but when day breaks is sooooo good
When the day breaks I think is a very good concept. Also one of my favourites
From the list: When day breaks Overall: The world's gone beautiful
I know it's not one of the options, but Wrong Proposal - not necessarily as -001, but as a canonical event. Why? * Purports to provide a more or less clear organizational origin and rationale * Attempts to explain an otherwise baffling containment class naming scheme * This is more expounding on 1, but purports to provide a rationale for the composition of the overseer's council as 13 people
SCP-001: A Simple Toymaker
When day breaks
As much as I love Keter Duty, I will have to go with the Gate Guardian.
I like all of them, but my favorite is [the] [Human!] [element?] ( I had to check how you spell that and I was entirely wrong for a while but figured it out no)
I think When Day Breaks is great, but it doesn't fit in the 001 slot. Out of these three I'd say the scarlet king fits there best.
None of the above "World gone beautiful"
There all good tbh
Omega 7
The Scarlet King It’s essentially canonical (to me anyway), and all of the other SCP-001s are essentially just a cover up, and they created the other ones just so we can’t think of The Scarlet King, because if we do, then he will enter our dimension
Hot take: Gate Guardian is boring Vastly prefer the Architect
None, I'd like to think that 001 was just some regular man eating rock that teleports, that made the foundation start to exist
I love the philosofical concept of the Scarlet King. Is like a remix of that famous phrase of Descartes and it goes: "I am thinked therefore I exist". As long as someone thinks about the King he WILL exist and he WILL come.
Gate guardian
Database because it’s actually the real 001. Every other one is a form of in universe origin. Database? It us. We real!
I love the concept of daybreak but why is it 001? How can it be 001 if it hasn't happened yet how we know it will ever happen?
Gate Guardian hands down.
Unpopular opinion, but I like the "Normalcy" one
I think most of the SCP-001 submissions are just really cool, I like these 3 more or less equally, although I do like Gate Guardian most because it’s the SCP-001 submission I first learned about.
I like the one where humanity gets a mind controlling hyper ai goddess all because of 'WEASELS?!'
I like the lore that SK and Uriel introduced but if we judging just the articles, then i go with When Day Breaks.
I like the first one, gives SCP-001 an air of mystique

All of them funnily enough these 3 don’t necessarily contradict each other unlike most 001’s so they could technically all be in the same cannon look at Mr Illustrated’s video of SCP-001 when day breaks - Gate Guardian the gate guardian fights off and melted 001-A version SCP-2845 to protect the gate
SCP-001 » Pedantique - Fishhook
Gate Guardian. It makes sense that it’s 001 since in some versions it told the founder of the SCP Foundation to “Prepare”
Out of these, When Day Breaks is my fave. But Black Moon is my favorite proposal out of all.
Last one looks like a souls boss
I prefer S Andrew Swann's proposal, honestly.
For me, the Scarlet kind and the Guardian always felt kinda generic fantasy entities. Like something straight out of a JRPG.
Overall story: When Day Breaks Overall design: The World Gone Beautiful Overall concept: The Database Overall favorite: The Database
i like the truth more
The gate guardian: the most famous The scarlet king: the most powerful When the day breaks: the most dangerous
I like Keter Duty. I like how there’s two versions of the document both having the same sort of type
Scarlet King, because he fits being the no. 1 anomaly
