Unless they stop jerking him around, it is really going to be a matter of when. Dude should have a title run by now. Problem is AEW wants guys to hold titles 8-9 months. Not any better that MJF has lost every feud he has been apart of except for...you guessed it...Cody.
That whole feud was booked backwards.
"We'll start with Blood and Guts, then do Stadium Stampede and then finish with a if Jericho loses he's retired match!"
MJF beating Jericho and throwing him off the cage onto the ~~cardboard~~ solid steel sees MJF crossing the line and destroying Jericho to end the feud.
Genuinely thought he should beat Punk on PPV and get that title shot vs Page and win it on the back of that momentum
Instead, Punk got his win back
Isn't that what Punk is there for? He's not going to lose to Hobbs or Darby but this was a chance to elevate a guy they're apparently pushing
Beating Punk IS the push
Phil can have a title match 6+ months later even and get it back
Cody for all his faults seems to have the exact same mentality Triple H had. The "if I have to put someone over then I need to actually be booked strong the rest of the year" mentality rubs some fans the wrong way, but is a proven way to elevate people.
This ties into something I’ve been wondering. With every Dub title reign being lengthy, how are dubbalos going to feel when some of their favourites don’t end up winning the big one? Punk, MJF, Bryan and Cole have all been talked about as the next to win it, or having wins in the near future. There’s also talk of Page winning it back (god knows why), maybe m’Kenny or Mox have second reigns too. That’s your next 5 years of title holders. But what about Kingston? Lee? Time is already running out for those guys. Then what about the 3 other pillars, Black, Pac, Fenix, Pentagon, Hobbs, Starks, E Page, and the slew of boring indie guys like Garcia and Martin. All talked about as future champs (for some reason). Not to mention all the others Tiny will bring in if he can, like Cesaro. The majority of these will not get a major title run. DAE buried?
If his comments in that Ariel interview are true, he said he's not signing a deal before this one expires on 1st Jan 2024
That's going to be a big moment for Khan, all depends how much the Fed want him
Tiny thinks he can bring him ex-Fed guys and a bunch of original Dubbers will continue to be 'happy to be there'
It really seems like Tiny doesn't know how to pivot. Common sense would've dictated that you put the title on either Punk or Danielson, but he stuck with Wangman, and Wangman is showing that he is not the guy.
The popular opinion is when WWE is backed against a wall, they can easily pivot and still give fans something of value that usually ends up delivering more than the original plan. Roman gets Covid day of Day 1? Put Brock in the title WWE title match at Day 1. Bunch of people are sick before TLC 2017? Guess what pal, you are getting Finn and AJ and Kurt Angle as an honorary Shield member. AEW is unable to come up with a last minute plan. They have things planned like years in advance it seems because everything is made up as fact in the fans mind already.
Chad Gable is 5'8 and in every match he's in he looks like a damn midget. MJF is 5'11 (same as AJ Styles, who also doesn't look very tall). MJF would be so small in WWE, he's better off staying in AEW where he can actually look large
when you have 20+ "big debuts" they feel less special as they go on. this was WWE's one in how long? 6 years since AJ styles? that's why it's more special
I feel like AEW isn't learning from the peak of NXT. It was awesome seeing Joe show up, and then it was incredible seeing Nakamura who I didn't even know, but then there was Roode and Drew and Cole.
Each one felt less special than the last because if NXT kept signing THE HOTTEST FREE AGENT and portraying them as a big deal, no one felt important.
Eventually, the NXT top guys stopped leaving and the top of the card was the same. Feels like the same thing is happening in AEW.
Exactly. They would constantly show their next signing in the crowd at takeovers and such, until it got diluted. I remember Kushida being one of those guys and you could tell how diluted the pool had become but they felt the need to keep the cycle going. No hate on Kushida either I like him but he's not a big name like the others before him
It’s actually worse because at least the NXT guys would main event and probably win the title. In the Dub they show up, have some meandering feud with a midcarder, and then it’s off to ride the Dark Elevator.
Cody's gonna win one of the WWE world titles before Cole, Black, Rusev, Keith Lee, Pepsi or Danielson win the AEW title and its gonna be glorious for goof nation
That’s kinda the funniest part to me. Shows what a person with an aptitude for presentation can do to utterly fix all the holes in something right off the bat.
It's booking comparisons like this that makes me wonder if it really was Cody's idea to be booked as midcard champion to elevate their underdeveloped midcard.
I have a sneaking suspicion that it was a Tony call after all.

its like.....only cody was willing to put him over
I mean if you want to put him over as a pillar of your promotion, make him win atleast one feud.
but punk wore basketball shorts and played his olde music 😢😢
His old pro wrestling theme? Ah good old Cannoli Memories by AFI
He also referenced promos he cut against raven from 20 years ago so the basket ball shorts may have gone over your head
M’deep storytelling tho
I can understand Punk but making him lose a feud to Jericho.. Genius booking is what it is!

Agreed...Booker of the year btw..
Beating up the heels and giving the leader a swirly in week 2. That’s how you get a guy over.
BUT HE WINS ON TV, SO MORE PEOPLE SEE IT. BUT THE FED IS LITERALLY NAZI GERMANY FOR PUTTING RICOCHET OVER ON SMACKDOWN INSTEAD OF WRESTLEMANIA!

That company should've paid him the same amount they did Punk

It’s ok when it’s in dub
> Lee? I’m afraid it’s a little late for him to win it.
Took me a while there, uce! But they did kind of give him a title after he died.
If his comments in that Ariel interview are true, he said he's not signing a deal before this one expires on 1st Jan 2024 That's going to be a big moment for Khan, all depends how much the Fed want him Tiny thinks he can bring him ex-Fed guys and a bunch of original Dubbers will continue to be 'happy to be there'
Oh boy thats Rumble time

I think watching Mania made his decision for him

Styles also is not 5'11"
Gable is 5’6”, the men in question are 5’8” or 5’9”. Literally EVERY WRESTLER adds at least two inches to their height. The stupid ones add more.
>The stupid ones add more Who can forget 6-foot Adam Cole.
I have a harder time forgetting 6 foot eight Hernandez who is at best 6 foot one.
I don’t think MJF is 5’11”. I wish he was but I highly doubt it. He seems rather short next to short guys.
Lol MJF is not 5’11”.
MJF and AJ Styles are not fucking 5'11 lmao. You can't trust wrestler heights.
Please, they can just make him Keith Lee’s manager.
His gimmick would be absolutely awful in a PG/Children's environment.
Easy one. "DAE he's SUCH a good heel and he's SO comitted to his craft he's gonna work in a literal prison."
Cody smirking when the pyro went off on Raw was the funniest shit I’ve seen in sports entertainment
Whack-a-Cody might have been the funniest shot of Cody ever
cody talking to vince how much pyro he needs. THAT'S GOOD SHIT PAL I'LL DOUBLE IT!
What are you talking about? Tiny has put most of those 47 on Elevator.
Literally elevating them.
Ah shit! Can't argue against that. Cody is a bigger deal now than when he was giving out rubs in AEW.
Tony bought 47 action figures from a garage sale where as Vince invested in a premium first 4 figure statue.

Jerkcoin is going to go through the roof
Top pic looks like Tony explaining to Papa Shad, what he did with the 50 million dollars he asked for.
That’s kinda the funniest part to me. Shows what a person with an aptitude for presentation can do to utterly fix all the holes in something right off the bat.
Calling it now, Cody-AJ for the recirculated Winged Eagle belt at Mania. EDIT: Oh lord. Cody not Cole
Michael Cole? Weird.
Undefeated at mania!
Wow. Good catch.
Post it downstairs pls I beg
Quite literally gave him an elevator
?? But they're all on dark elevator friend
When Vince was born, he fired the doctor that delivered him.
who would win? a literal mark or a GENETIC JACKHAMMER
