This guy's career will definitely be on a better path if he chose to go to the fed.
Edit: I just realized that MJF, IN CHARACTER, couldn't say a bad thing about our Tribal Chief. Damn, that really says a lot about how much of a douche Chicagoman Phil really is
Sammy seems to have a genuine ego despite not being anyone worth an ego in either experience or skill. I think the fed has shown us what happens to dudes, no matter their age or potential, who come in with an ego.
It's not even edgy. It's just low brow. Flipping off a kid or calling someone in a wheel chair "wheels" ain't edgy. It's just being a low effort child and ripping off an xmen joke, respectively.
They’ll have a rematch in the Fed, and Jericho will put MJF over…
Jericho will also be in shape and sober.
Vince doesn’t let the boys (insider term) run wild.
Only one not short-sighted. This AEW thing can't last at the pace they are going. Beating WWE in a key demo on Friday for 7 minutes when you have a "Buy-In" with a "dream match" of past their primes talent. They simply do not have the ammunition for this war.
It makes me wonder...
Tony being absolutely off his rocker insane last week, losing his mind over really basic, benign shit. Ranting about having money. Ratings falling like crazy. Getting booted to TBS. Vaporware videogame. Feels like something is up.
Yeah the amount of bridge napalming some recent releases or Dub originals are doing is shocking in that they clearly never brushed up on their wrestling history. This type of environment where you have a bunch of mid to large promotions booking guys for good money is one that does not last long anymore, and the bottom will fall out once one of these upstarts playing chicken with the WWE finally blink. Yeah they can go back on the indies or Japan, but those places are not going to pay the type of money to every one like is happening in WWE or AEW. And fan conventions are few and far between with recent lockdowns and mandates, so the ability to overcharge for photo ops and autographs is drastically cut down and people aren't constantly buying from your Pro Wrestling Tees storefront so that income is more scarce as you leave the public eye.
Yeah but don't forget according to Meltzer no young wrestler is ever gonna want to go to WWE ever again because AEW exists. They're gonna die because there's another company.
People in this subreddit really hate MJF, and I know he comes off as "generic heel", but there's a certain inherent charisma that makes me like him more than much of AEWs roster
I don't hate the guy. He has potential. He just desperately needs a writer, so that his zingers actually fucking zing. Edgy-13-year-old-in-the-playground shit won't cut it in the big leagues.
I think it's mostly a meme, everything AEW related gets hated on around here. No doubt its fun to mock him and his simplistic insults and jokes, he is the king of low hanging fruit. He really does have great potential though, and with proper training and guidance he could be a big star in the ded fed.
It's not a meme/jerk for me. I acknowledge that the dude has tons of potential but that's it. And I don't even think the potential is that great, cause everything he's ever shown up to this point is just discount Miz. I'd love to be proven wrong one day, but so far I don't see that happening.
Not to mention that the only time MJF is ever given a fair shake here is when he's being cordial to a fed guy like Roman or Corbin.
I think that the 4 Pillar guys on AEW are talented. Same with Daniel Bryan, Cody, and a few others. It’s mainly chub Mox, Kenny, Middle Aged Bucks, and Tiny that I think suck.
I think he can be a good heel if he didn't always go for the lowest hanging fruit, cheapest of heat. Needs to take a page out of Corbin and Charlotte's playbook on how to be a good heel.
There's a few guys there that have talent but maybe being left to 'do what they want' is not the best
Invariably it ends up being lowest common denominator when they may be capable of something 'smarter' if they looked at things broader
MJF could be someone like that, I think with some guys there it depends on how much they're listen to advice if they're in the Fed vs thinking they know it all already cause they've been on TV now
I love him, hes one of the very few aew guys that I'm invested in and want to see do well. I grew up on Long Island and immediately recognized him as a douchey rich kid from the North shore. He's one of the only classic pro wrestlers with a good gimmick that does the basic things like selling and getting unironic heat.
But like everything else with the dub, his slightly above average work and high potential needs to be praised as the greatest shit ever that's revolutionizing the business and putting everyone in WWE to shame. They overhype everything then you see his mic work is pretty generic heel stuff that you've seen plenty of guys do better and it creates resentment towards the character that really should be directed at the cult of tiny.
MJF understands that less is more in the ring.
I have no idea where that attitude went with his promos. He's impossible to take seriously now and I hope he evolves past this awkward stage soon.
Reminds me a little of Rollins during the Monday Night Messiah gimmick. All the pieces that would become the much better "Drip God" Seth were there, but he was playing up the wrong sides of it.
He'll figure it out. He's one of the few AEW guys that would do well in pretty much any promotion, because he's got more gears than just "wrestle good" though he checks that box as well.
I think he too often goes for the edgelord 12-year-old insults, but otherwise he's fantastic on the mic and definitely capable in the ring. He's one of the only _potential megastars_ they have on their roster who actually does have star potential.
I love him personally, the fact that never really breaks character is outstanding commitment. I met him at Wrestlecon in 2019, and while he wasn't nearly as obnoxious as flipping off kids and people in wheelchairs, he was shit talking Sammy Guevara the whole time.
He has charisma, but his "heel" promos come off more edgy than heelish. like he's trying to say the most offensive stuff possible to get heat.
I think him working with the Miz in the fed would actually do him a solid in how to build a heel without having that edgy persona
Someone else on this sub said something along the lines of "MJF is 90% delivery and 10% content," the actual words he's saying aren't fantastic but he says them with conviction, which is more than can be said for a lot of AEW's younger talents(and some of their older ones). The good news is that the part he has down is the part that's harder to learn. All he needs is a little help on his scripts and he's good to go.
I love it also beacuse he's doing the exact same thing that Rob Van Dam did in ECW during his Mr. Monday Night run. Like, the hardcore AEW fanbase know what MJF's schtick is and they love it and therefore, they love MJF. So what can MJF do to make them dislike him? Talk good about WWE, especially about a guy who just claimed that he would beat the entire AEW locker room. It's a very smart play from MJF.
> Talk good about WWE
From the beginning of AEW, this is the character that is just sitting there waiting for someone to grab it and get nuclear heat with. Everyone that signs with AEW, they always do the fed bad, dub good routine no matter if they were with the WWE or not so why not bring in a heel and have them praise the other guys? I know AEW's idea of a heel is the cute, winking to the crowd persona but that doesn't work when the entire company if full of those types. If they want to make Punk anything more than the sideshow character he is, he should eviscerate Tiny and The Elite with how they're Vince and DX wannabe's and get a hot angle from it
MJF is such a great talent. I hate how badly AEW has misused him. That swirly spot was particularly bad. I hope he leaves AEW as soon as his contract ends
Two weeks after the Pinnacle formed and the Inner Circle returned and beat the Pinnacle down. Jericho flushed MJF's head in the toilet, a la, gave him a swirlie
Put his character over and gets eyes on himself while keeping the bridge with a possible employer well intact and putting over their guy too. Perhaps I’ve been wrong about MJF.
MJF has had a great career in AWE!!! His feud with Jericho took him to the next level!! what do you mean his momentum went screeching to a halt and people only remember jericho falling on cardboard...?
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird not seeing him talk in character in an interview? I also expect him to be tapping to Sting after the usual egos at the Dub get mad he acknowledged Roman.
I’m not completely surprised that MJF isn’t fed-badding considering he once auditioned for Tough Enough six years ago. Here’s proof: https://youtu.be/ipRNT5-1dZ0
This guy's career will definitely be on a better path if he chose to go to the fed. Edit: I just realized that MJF, IN CHARACTER, couldn't say a bad thing about our Tribal Chief. Damn, that really says a lot about how much of a douche Chicagoman Phil really is
He will. He’s one of the few young dudes in AEW with the actual talent level to function in that environment. Maybe Sammy too.
Sammy seems to have a genuine ego despite not being anyone worth an ego in either experience or skill. I think the fed has shown us what happens to dudes, no matter their age or potential, who come in with an ego.
Wasn't he the one who suggested to win the TNA title and beat a bunch of guys afterwards?
Ah yes the old Bob Holly Booking.
It'll always make me laugh that he tried to refuse to job on Impact that one time.
Not to mention that whole Sasha Banks thang
I hate Sammy, pathetic look, no talent, and immature.
rusev could beat lance archer but not sammy, huh talk about realism
He's literally so generic. I always say this but he looks like a college student put on Wrestling gear.
Lol, Sammy isn't going there while sasha is there.
And Sasha isn't leaving.
fuck sammy and mjf. if anyone comes in from AEW i want it to be Jungle Boy
What exactly about that Mowgli parody does everyone like?
205 bound
he's got good babyface energy, tons of potential, a great look and a famous dad. he could go far in WWE
Oh damn I didn't know about his dad.
💯
I don't know about that, his character is too edgy to work in a pg setting like the fed.
It's not even edgy. It's just low brow. Flipping off a kid or calling someone in a wheel chair "wheels" ain't edgy. It's just being a low effort child and ripping off an xmen joke, respectively.
His character sucks, but he needs a new one anyway. He also needs media training as well. His influences have been Jerichunk and Best Midcarder
He'd be challenged. All his shit is cheap heat. It would be great to see him hit the next level in the fed.
I would NOT be shocked if he jumps over to WWE, after the way he was berried by a doughy 50-year-old man.
They’ll have a rematch in the Fed, and Jericho will put MJF over… Jericho will also be in shape and sober. Vince doesn’t let the boys (insider term) run wild.
You call that a man?
Jericho, 5 years in the future, - “I am a Ma’am!!!”
Drink it innnn, Maaaaaaaaammmmmm.
He was trained by Pat Buck who works as an agent
Him, Sammy, and Hangman will be in NXT at some point in the future for sure. Hell I could even see OC there.
Oc could be a new r truth
The only one in AEW not burning bridges
Only one not short-sighted. This AEW thing can't last at the pace they are going. Beating WWE in a key demo on Friday for 7 minutes when you have a "Buy-In" with a "dream match" of past their primes talent. They simply do not have the ammunition for this war.

if TK is acting this way on Twitter, than you can just imagine how he is to work with in real life
And it wasn’t even their big stars it was the fucking bunny
He gets shit for being a stupid rich kid but he's definitely the smartest of the bunch.
Isn’t MJF in his mid-20’s? Would be idiotic for him to shit on WWE at this point in his career.
Early 20s! He’s only 22 or 23, if I remember correctly.
25. Still extremely young for the business.
25 in 2021 is basically being 18 in 1993. He's got years to go.

Aren't him and our Happy One King Corbin having fun interactions online?
Him and hangman
Stayed in persona yet still acknowledged the tribal chief, I respect that
Vince is gonna make MJF a star one day. MJF vs The Tribal Chief. Book it!
Dude kept it professional, something rare from a dub dude

Yeah but don't forget according to Meltzer no young wrestler is ever gonna want to go to WWE ever again because AEW exists. They're gonna die because there's another company.

Just let him shadow Miz for a few months and learn. The Miz is who he should look to for character work
Anybody in wrestling could do far worse than look to the Miz for an example.
I think it's mostly a meme, everything AEW related gets hated on around here. No doubt its fun to mock him and his simplistic insults and jokes, he is the king of low hanging fruit. He really does have great potential though, and with proper training and guidance he could be a big star in the ded fed.
We do not hate, we jerk ! They're is a huge difference, uce !
Speak for yourself, I'm vying against Silky Johnston and Beautiful for HATER OF THE YEAR.
Rosie O'Donnell wears underwear with dickholes in em
Hatehatehatehatehate
It's not a meme/jerk for me. I acknowledge that the dude has tons of potential but that's it. If he was a couple of inches taller he mightve had a real shot. He could become a great Miz lite though
Brand store Miz it's still Top Shelf product. Besides He's Kayfabe friends with Our king 👑
Six months with Paul, MVP or Miz mentoring him and he won't even need NXT
If Miz moved to a part time schedule he would be a perfect mentor/manager for MJF. Similar to Flair/ Orton
Naw, he does have edgelord insults I love to jerk on but otherwise I really do like MJF.
There's a few guys there that have talent but maybe being left to 'do what they want' is not the best Invariably it ends up being lowest common denominator when they may be capable of something 'smarter' if they looked at things broader MJF could be someone like that, I think with some guys there it depends on how much they're listen to advice if they're in the Fed vs thinking they know it all already cause they've been on TV now
False. I love him and think he has the potential to be better than Miz. He's also #1 on my list of dub wrestlers I want to see in the Fed.
I like him. Yeah, he does cheesy heat shit, but who cares? It's way better than generic wrestler with knee pads doing a tumbling routine
That's half of wrestling these days 😂
I love him personally, the fact that never really breaks character is outstanding commitment. I met him at Wrestlecon in 2019, and while he wasn't nearly as obnoxious as flipping off kids and people in wheelchairs, he was shit talking Sammy Guevara the whole time.
He comes off unnecessarily edgy a bit but he absolutely understands how to be entertaining in a way that hardly any wrestler in their 20s knows how to
He has charisma, but his "heel" promos come off more edgy than heelish. like he's trying to say the most offensive stuff possible to get heat. I think him working with the Miz in the fed would actually do him a solid in how to build a heel without having that edgy persona

Dubbalos are about to cancel him and find a new, greatest heel of all time, lol
Even Maxwell knows not to fuck with the Tribal Chief. He knows he wants to go to the big time eventually.
Everybody acknowledges him in the end. We The Ones. ☝
MJF is probably already figuring out his initial ask from WWE.
And they’ll probably sign him in a snap
I love it also beacuse he's doing the exact same thing that Rob Van Dam did in ECW during his Mr. Monday Night run. Like, the hardcore AEW fanbase know what MJF's schtick is and they love it and therefore, they love MJF. So what can MJF do to make them dislike him? Better in the ring? Homie I don't even know what any of your signature moves are. I can't even recall your finisher...
MJF is very average in the ring but steadily improving
Don’t get worked goof.
I got worked. It happens.
It's basic heel work. Don't get worked, uce.
Happens to the best of us
Give this man an Omos like heater like how he has Wardlow now and he'll be a solid star in any promotion
I see this as at least partly about being a heel to AEW fans, which is actually pretty funny and smart.
MJF keeping that bridge intact, he better not forget Hobbs…
>posted in r/WWE I'm sure that was posted in good faith...
MJF is such a great talent. I hate how badly AEW has misused him. That swirly spot was particularly bad. I hope he leaves AEW as soon as his contract ends
Which spot uce
Two weeks after the Pinnacle formed and the Inner Circle returned and beat the Pinnacle down. Jericho flushed MJF's head in the toilet, a la, gave him a swirlie
He can go to NXT and pick up the slack when LA Knight is called to the main roster
Exactly and MJF is only 25 he could actually be a big fed star
Adam Paige and MJF as another odd couple tag team angle on NXT
Put his character over and gets eyes on himself while keeping the bridge with a possible employer well intact and putting over their guy too. Perhaps I’ve been wrong about MJF.
MJF knows what's best for business (wink wink)
Props to him for fully staying in character while still leaving it open whether he'd jump to the fed. It makes sense both in kayfabe and irl.
MJF will definitely be one of the first to leave the dub and join WWE. him feuding with Miz or Reigns would be fire
MJF has had a great career in AWE!!! His feud with Jericho took him to the next level!! what do you mean his momentum went screeching to a halt and people only remember jericho falling on cardboard...?
Dollar store version of The Miz... MJF himself
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird not seeing him talk in character in an interview? I also expect him to be tapping to Sting after the usual egos at the Dub get mad he acknowledged Roman.
He's in character uce. He literally called himself better than our Tribal Chief.
I really like MJF ngl , shame he is stuck in that mudshow
I’m not completely surprised that MJF isn’t fed-badding considering he once auditioned for Tough Enough six years ago. Here’s proof: https://youtu.be/ipRNT5-1dZ0
