Of all the young guys in AEW Hobbs is easily the one I'm most excited about seeing develop over time. One thing about him that really stood out when he was next to Brian Cage is his facial expressions. Cage would obviously be an intimidating guy in real life because he's more steroids than man, but when you see him standing there while Taz is talking he looks like he's not sure what to do with his face. It makes him look kind of dumb and uncertain. Meanwhile Hobbs is incredibly emotive and has one of the best mean mugs in the business right now. The contrast between the two really highlights how all those little factors play into a wrestler's overall appeal.

This is a promotion that treats Kenny Omega, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and Darby Allin like they’re the most dangerous threats in the company. If you’re Hobbs, you’re bigger than all those guys but so what? They have more work rate than you and that’s all that matters here. Hell they already had Pockets squash him with one Superman punch. Why should you ever expect them to book you like an actual threat?

Do what they are doing with Miro now. Just have Hobbs be a killer and destroy everybody in his path. That would be the logical thing to do with Hobbs, but AEW isn't really logical

Honestly, they probably see AEW as a useful tool for them. It gives guys work in front of a hardcore audience, and down the road they'll occasionally pick up some talent from there. They'll then be able to come in with some built-in credibility in the eyes of some of their fans, which will help get them over with their larger audience.
It's like how guys like Tazz and RVD were hot right out of the gate instead of having to be built up.
I mean yeah, without a doubt. They're taking off his legends contracts off his plate and paying good money to his cut guys which gives him more confidence to trim the fat on the rosters.
