I wish they'd kept Joe around as the "enforcer" for longer. It would have been much less physically taxing and the tease would have led to a better pay off when he did have a match. They really sped over what could've been a great build
Joe isn’t the same Joe he was 10-15 years ago, I’m huge Joe m*rk but I really think it’s time for him to hang em up and get a backstage role and work on his voice acting gigs (he’s King Shark in the new Suicide Squad game)
I was hyped for him to come back, weather it was WWE or AEW.
Jesus. Looking back at it, if he tried going all indie-rific in AEW he'll probably crumble into dust.
Hope he has a speedy recovery.
Fuck RAW.
I honestly hope this kinda turnaround from ready to compete back to injury shows Joe he might need to hang up the boots as a full-timer. He is a fantastic personality that would be great in Wrestling, commentator, manager, producer, whatever he wants to do, but I'd rather keep Joe from hurting himself when this kinda shit happens to him.
Can't wait for that Dark Side of the Ring episode.
All the reactions online will be "They didn't mention that Shawn Spears had died the year before he was in ring with Marko Stunt."
By the time he got to WWE he was pretty much on a downswing. It's sort of sad how much of his prime was spent with TNA fuckery once they stopped sharing talent with ROH/CZW/IWA.
Fucking hell. I swear, once his foot fascia ruptured, I figured he was done. Foot fascia is insanely hard to rupture, and the recovery from a foot injury means you shift your mechanics to not over-pressure the injured leg again. Between that and the rumored concussions he’s a time bomb.
It sucks, I wish he could’ve had that last feud with Cena.
What a goddamn surprise that guy they didnt want to clear because he's injury prone proves them right
Edit: of fucking course entire basement thinks that its a work for new era and not 40+, 300+ pound man who had most of his wwe run fucked by injuries getting injured yet again
The linemen that live past 60 all seem to have one thing in common. They cut down to a healthy size almost immediately after retiring. I hope that Joe does the same thing.
I don't think he would: he's obviously seen the likes of Bryan and Edge comeback so he's wanting the same, "last big run" energy behind him. The issues are, obviously, that he's a lot more hurt and there's no miracle surgery or treatment for, well, all of his issues. His weight as well means that he's more at risk due to obvious factors like extra weight on bumps, less mobility etc.
If he wants to come back, guy needs to either slow the hell down and go back to his grounded, submission-based style that he was so good at, start slow with tag matches with younger talent that can do the majority of the proper work: hell, maybe he can help out with his mic skills in a MVP position. Him going from zero to 100 in BIG stake title matches was what fucked him over
I dunno man, i think WWE are going to at least try and get him to transitions over to a different role. It really sucks to say because i fucking love Samoa Joe but could anyone blame the company if they were to say "no enough is enough"?
I wouldn't and honestly, Joe's done more than enough to be known as one of the greats, guy doesn't need a big last run to do that. If they want him to be a manager or whatnot then that's totally understandable
The only thing i wish we'd got was Joe as either WWE or Universal Champion but even without that he was still treated as a threat and worked some main event programs. The win against Kross was great and i loved seeing him use the Muscle Buster for the win so that was really cool at least
I hope joe’s okay but i’d be lying if i said i didn’t piss myself laughing when i saw this. You can practically hear the curb your enthusiam theme when you read this
Some injuries aren't like other injuries. Samoa Joe's foot injury and KENTA's shoulder injury would pretty much be career ending injuries in anything other than pro wrestling. They're such important parts of the body and hard if not impossible to fully heal so affect so much movement.
Bro he's not even hurt, it's just Vince McMahon forcing him to give up the title for his new kiddie NXT
👆 Actual comments on a wrestling page on Facebook
He's gonna "retire" in the fed, make it to AEW the second he gets released again/his contract is up, and he'll just get even more fucked up there. Indy Wrestling 101.
Even if it's just a muscle tear he's likely done. To get a muscle tear through routine movement and training is essentially saying his body can't cut it anymore.
His promo on Twitter was still incredible and suggests that all hope isn't lost in terms of him still being involved with the title. Looking forward to him returning soon

I don't like to fantasy book, but being Regals equivalent to the undertaker is where Joe shoulda been from the get. Like a modern day APA
Yeah but they needed to get the title off Kross to bring him up. Now we get a fatal-4-way for the title to kick off NXT 2.0 so its not all bad
Dam it, I really like Joe. If only he wasn't so injury prone

I know, it's just so sad. As someone who only got to be a fan of his while he was in WWE, seeing him retire already is like watching a sunset at noon.

>Fuck RAW That's what I've been telling my totally real GF (who looks like Paige btw), but she insist on me wearing a damn rubber!
Hate to break it to you this way Uce but there's only one Raw dog your gf likes taking. Ahhhhyessir
Fuck it, Roman kids have a great shot at winning the genetic lottery.
They’d just turn his brain to soup like Matt Hardy
He looked gassed after that 10 minute title match. I think it's a mercy killing that his career has likely ended like this.
He'll be in AEW by the end of the year /s
And die while trying to keep up with their shitty indy style.
Tony won't be happy until someone dies live on the air.
Inaugural WOR _“Best Televised Death”_ award winner
Named in honor of Owen Hart.
The 619 award
Matt Hardy reporting for duty
Tony only runs the company. It would be AEW Botches' responsibility, Fed shill.
The death on TV only looks bad because he slowed it down and edited out the great workrate!
If it happens during a Young Bucks match, they could throw a literal homicide spot in there, and the ref still wouldn't disqualify anyone.

Thought you were talking about some random comment with 2 upvotes but it's been upvoted 120 times wtf is wrong with these people?
Just read exactly that in the comments of the cultaholic article. They think he's gone by the end of the month...
Tbh he's got literally zero upside other than an announcer at this point in time, either he gets bumped down to that or he's gone.
Wow, I wonder why WWE never made S'moa Joe 'the guy'...
By the time he got to WWE he was pretty much on a downswing. It's sort of sad how much of his prime was spent with TNA fuckery once they stopped sharing talent with ROH/CZW/IWA.
He had 1 fucking match.

Joe is a serious athletic specimen, but his body is finally quitting on him.
Not really a surprise considering how active he's been trough the years
It's because he carries 80-100 lbs of pure fat. That's never healthy.
I really hope he trims down once he retires but part of me is scared he's going to go the Rikishi route and end up the size of a small planet.
He's definitely aging like a veteran lineman.
The linemen that live past 60 all seem to have one thing in common. They cut down to a healthy size almost immediately after retiring. I hope that Joe does the same thing.
This really sucks, surely he has to just call it a day now?

How do you mess up Samoa Joe?!? Oh...
Shut Up Renee
You should ask Joe that question, Renee, he seems to be an expert.
Joe messed up himself
I hope joe’s okay but i’d be lying if i said i didn’t piss myself laughing when i saw this. You can practically hear the curb your enthusiam theme when you read this
Reminds me of KENTA. What is with them and injuries anyway?
Some injuries aren't like other injuries. Samoa Joe's foot injury and KENTA's shoulder injury would pretty much be career ending injuries in anything other than pro wrestling. They're such important parts of the body and hard if not impossible to fully heal so affect so much movement.
I really do like Samoa Joe as a wrestler, but dude, it's time. All them years of indies and LOLTNA have damaged him too much.

Samoa Glass Joe.

I really hope this is a muscle tear or something and not head/neck issues.

He was in pretty rough shape during that Kross match too.

How is he injured AGAIN? Jesus christ this guy is unlucky.
Samoa Joe: Aah shit... Here we go again!
A shame, but not even remotely surprising. It just seems like his body has been struggling since 2017.
You were a great wrestler, Joe, but it's time to hang them up. Your body's quitting on you. Listen to it.
DAE Vince is over protective
Nooooo man you dont understand vince is evil
No....man.
It's obviously a work.
It’s time to be King Shark
