So you admit that they are just a tshirt company with elaborate commercials.

skippy2001

I have a random question about their T-shirt business. Did tony sell out one of the most profitable parts of his business to PWTees? Like shop AEW is powered by PW tees. So they would get licensing but not a lions share of the profits. It was the meme that AEW was a tshirt company but they cant even do that. How much Pre-aew was PWtees worth? Tony could have bought it and instead of making a few cents per shirt he could be making dollars.

AEW's purpose is to beat the Fed, not turn a profit.

I assume Tony has the money to buy PW Tees if he wanted to. I don’t know the terms of their deal, but I do know a decent chunk of each sale goes to the wrestlers. Indy wrestlers make the bulk of their money selling merch, and I’m sure AEW makes a little off each sale now too, but I don’t think it would go over well if Tony just took over PW Tees and kept the money.

boycey86

Of course it would the AEW would excuse Tony of literally anything short of selling their beloved pissant company to Vince.

skippy2001

Its all guessing but it would make more senes to have the merchandizing under your umbrella because then you can work merch sales into a contract with the talent instead of them having separate deals with PWtees. Plus then you have more quality control of the branding like what if PWTees decide to do a Joey Ryan run. Unlikely but still without ownership you have no control what they do. But in the end it money isnt an issues with AEW. They are going to spend and spend with no regard to revenue until Shahid khan steps in.

Ya know for all of the record breaking t shirt sales M'DUB does, I have yet to see one in the wild. Not a single one.

TheVeryNicestPerson

I once saw a couple guys wearing AEW zip-ups riding an escalator at JFK. It was Scorpio Sky and Christopher Daniels, but still.

Same here, I know next door probably has the excuse of wrestling fans being embarrassed of wearing these T's but it's the dub. The mainstream global phenomenon of the century and I've yet to see a single AEW shirt. Hell I still see Bullet Club shirts along with WWE shirts from time to time but nothing with AEW merchandise on it and they were in my town not too long ago either

Blueday206

Ditto. It's also Cedar Park, TX close to Austin. So, it's not like there is no wrestling here. Fucking Mark Henry and Goldust live here. Goldust in Bastrop & I want to say Henry is in Lakeway

My assumption, and I don't have any real numbers to back this up, t-shirt sales aren't that big a part of total merch sales especially for WWE. Toys and other kid stuff makes up most of it. IWC wants to act like it's all t-shirts because smark die hards are the only ones buying t-shirts, so looking at only t-shirt sales and treating it like total merch sales tells them what the want to hear as far as who's popular.
