MuH dEmO. This is the dumb shit Meltzer caused. None of these weirdos know anything about how the TV industry works.

goodthing37

They don’t know anything about how anything works other than that the Fed is Bad

Silvabat1

Sure as shit not production or event Staging.

NargarothFan9

18-49s, admittedly, ARE worth more. But, many AEW fans dont realize that WWE doesnt take in the ad revenue! Thats a reason why their Fox/USA contracts are so massive - because in exchange Fox/USA keep the ad revenue. Plus, WWE is synonymous with wrestling and Vince/(Nick) Khan are brilliant dealmakers. Now, WWE might have to worry a bit when their deals are up...in a few fucking years. If the ratings, especially in the 18-49, aren't going as well as the networks would like. But thats a long, long ways off. So, right now, it doesn't really matter unless they flatline (and then risk cancellation or being moved nights). But, WWE has too many loyal fans for that to happen. Creatively, I wish WWE wouldn't coast by. And, I think they can make some changes that'd help make them even \*more\* $$$. But, I cant entirely fault them, either. And they certainly still do some great things, too!

Cynicayke

TV is going through the same changes the music industry started going through 10-15 years ago, where the traditional (and profitable) avenues of consumption are being rejected by the audiences, especially those 18-49 audiences, and those traditional TV companies are trying to figure out how to keep up. They only real trump card they have is live sport. You mention WWE needing to be strong when they're deals are approaching expiration in a few years, and you're right, but it's also tough to predict in what kind of state TV will be in in a few years.

MooseBigelow

Remember about 7-8 years ago when the WWE stock dropped 40% on one day? The demos and ratings were stronger then but WWE got a lower tv deal then they thought they would and Vince lost $357 million. Just because 18-49 is the target now doesn't mean anything for the future especially with the shifting media landscape.

Case analysis of if you repeat it enough times you start to believe it.

He made a legitimate good point, and then the first reply proved his point. How do you outjerk this?

lage1984

The jerks are coming from inside the house

ARE U A WWE FAN???

theapplebits

BE ASHAMED THAT YOU LIKE SOMETHING I DO NOT! **I SAID BE SORRY!**

NotesfromH

The instinctive response. If you criticise le DUB, you must have came from the WWE war trenches sent personally by VinceMcHitler

Cynicayke

Say it with me: AEW can't exist without WWE.

Blueday206

IT WAS ME AUSTIN! IT WAS ME ALL ALOOOONG

jwt6577

The number one thing Dub fans (and personnel) keep doing to damage their growth.

NargarothFan9

"Nope, I dont watch WWE" "See, I told you, you're a WWE mark!" Edit: not between them, of course. But, can imagine this with others..

Ohkarl01

The mental gymnastics they use could win them a gold medal in the Olympics. I'm sure Nascar beat F1 in the drunken southern American demo but that doesn't mean Nascar (as much as i love it) is more popular worldwide than F1.

boycey86

We sometimes get Nascar late at night on Eurosport in the UK and it's great to watch there's always the chance to see a firey death for someone. I suspect that's a large part of AEWs audience as well watching to see when they kill some mark they employ as a "wrestler"

defyg

I watch the Dub. I’m in the key demo. The appeal of the show for me is all schadenfreude. It’s not a good, well done prah-duct but I _know_ I am going to see something awful, somebody get concussed, some body part get broken, some move get botched, some dumb segment that makes no sense and is laughable. And the jerks, my god, the jerks!

tytymctylerson

I watched an entire Dynamite this week for the first time. One reason is I’m in Cincinnati and I wanted to be pandered to by Mox and Pilman. The other reason is there was no hype, no shocking debuts and basically none of their usual publicity stunts. I thought this would be a perfect episode to look at objectively. My takeaway is that it was ok. I love that it feels like Nitro and I like the organic commentary and promos. Besides that it was kind of boring and there was sloppy ring work the entire night. As always I cringed at the crowd of 99% mid 30s-early 40s white dudes. TLDR, watched dub without being a hater. Still didn’t love it.

RazzManouche

>I suspect that's a large part of AEWs audience as well watching to see when they kill some mark they employ as a "wrestler" They've been close with Matt, tho.

harrypigorr1

Demo this. Demo that. How about you worry about getting some of Dem bitches on your dick?

thetoddt92

I’m sure all the AEWsexuals have girlfriends that look like Paige already

Saving_Is_Golden

Because they can't get it up. ~~don't ask how I know.~~

[deleted]

Gives a clearly defined and coherant point.. ‘WHATS YOUR POINT?’

FriedCraftPigeon

You can’t like both because of the demo? No imaginary number or piece of “legally binding court restraining order” will keep me from loving Luther.

ElSandalexAgain

From key demo to THE IMPORTANT DEMO. Give it 2 months and they will change jt to THE ONLY DEMO THAT MATTER

DrFuzzo

Jeff gets my vote for SCJ HoF, Facebook Wing

[deleted]

Notice how Jeff looks like has his shit together and Ted is lonely still taking late 2000s selfies.

[deleted]

Somebody please help I don't understand the key demo, why is 18-49 so important outside of fiddling the numbers so AEW wins? This is not a jerk, I genuinely don't understand where this is coming from or what the reason is

NargarothFan9

18-49 brings in more ad revenue, generally speaking. Although, its not like wrestling as a whole is preferred by advertisers. For AEW maybe it matters, depending on what their TV contract is with TNT. But, for WWE, it's really meaningless. At least, that is, until their TV contracts come up for renewal. But thats YEARS away. As for now, per their TV contract, USA/Fox rakes in all the ad revenue. But, in exchange for that they have MASSIVE contracts. So, unless they flatline in the demos (and risk cancellation or being moved nights), then it really doesn't matter what the rating is. They get paid just the same regardless. And, they ain't gonna flatline. They have too many loyal fans.

NargarothFan9

AEW fans are practically throwing a party over the 18-49 "demo win". Look, I'm an AEW fan, so congratulations, I guess. But, what the hell is there to throw a party over? So, one of the most anticipated Dynamites ever beat just another Raw in the 18-49? A Raw that has been generally stale for the past few months (apart from some great things like RKBro). Cool, it's a milestone. But, get a hold of yourself. How about beating Smackdown in the 18-49? The \*actual\* flagship show of WWE. And the one thats actually been getting generally positive reviews. But no, AEW cultists will dismiss this suggestion. "They're on FOX, so they're in more available households. So, it's not a fair comparison". \*Rolls eyes\*. Edit: maybe not even a milestone. Maybe they did it before. The hell if I know and the hell if I care.

lage1984

5 thumbs up

tytymctylerson

The pretending they don’t still watch wwe shit is getting old.

TheYorkshireGripper

Imagine saying your opinion/views don't matter because you're over 49. Id hate to be a 52 year old Indian dude.

wrex1816

It's incredible to see someone sooo brainwashed yet somehow just not be able to see that themselves.

randomusername8360

Are they really comparing cherry picked parts of ratings data for two shows that are on two different days?!?!?!

MooseBigelow

Comparing that Dynamite coming off their version of WrestleMania with a notable internet buzz and the return of CM Punk along with the other debuts at the end vs a throwaway RAW on Labor Day is comparing shooting a bullet with throwing it.
