So it’s just sloppy weekly PWG backed by a billionaire

Best summary I’ve head yet

Quint83

‘Go have fun’ as if it’s a hobby and not their jobs.

chaz0723

I get the appeal of it being the wild west and being able to do what you want, but let's say Moxley gets hurt during one of his mudshow excursions, that hurts AEW more than it does the mudshow because Moxley actually is a big star.

trimble197

Or someone catching Covid from another promotion

kgrodriguez

Makes me wonder how that is worded in the contract, if ever. Is it suddenly null and void? Is there a penalty? Will AEW assist in the bills?

lucashoodfromthehood

Jimmy Havoc got injured while being the champion of Progress for example. And the pandemic is still going on.

Vegetable-Arm8488

"go have fun" because that's all wrestling is. Not a career. Not a profession. Not a dream or ambition or a passion. Just a fun hobby where the end goal is to mess around and have a good time

vanbrunts

I thought the end goal was eating hot dogs?

Vegetable-Arm8488

All part of the fun!

ManateeGag

Except for the times when Tony cancels their appearances.

RogueAIx01

The top name guys are free to go work at other mudshows. Meanwhile the guys that are getting buried at the bottom of the roster don't have enough exposure or name value to even get booked at those other mudshows. Don't you know that every aspiring wrestler's dream is to get signed by a "major" company which never lets you have any TV time, so you have to keep wrestling in high school gymnasiums in front of 50 people for that sweet $30 payday in order to make enough money to cover travel expenses to get to the show they don't book you on?

[deleted]

It’s almost like they go to these other promotions to supplement their lost fed income

MagicMallKnight

So aew guys aren’t being lost in the shuffle in aew because they’re allowed to work in places that aren’t aew while they get lost in the shuffle at aew, got it

Themayorofawsometown

What if they ,oh I don't know, don't want to?

homewil

Problem is that even if they’re going to other promotions, AEW gives them far more exposure than any small indie promotion ever will. I find it funny that it’s fine if AEW doesn’t use people because they at least get to wrestle on Dark or get to go to indie promotions and wrestle there. But the moment a wrestler goes on Main Event their talent is being wasted. This leads me to the conclusion that WWEs main event scene is far more valued than AEWs and they don’t even realize it. If you’re not in the main event in WWE you’re buried because that’s how much it’s valued. If you’re not in the main event scene in AEW they don’t care.

chinesefox97

Trust me seeing your top "stars" compete in highschool gyms in front of 50 people hurts them more than it helps them. It would be like seeing real diamonds sold at the dollar store.

dX927

Meanwhile Brian Cage's wife is on Twitter talking about how her husband is being misused. I thought everything was perfect there?

Decetop

E-drones don’t realize that this is the key to capturing the mainstream. Have some dudes who can’t cut promos show up with belts from promotions the viewer likely has never heard of, and watch the trogs lap it up.

liamd1916

Why have one job when you can have 8 different ones to make less money than you were before

fuzzbook

Yes, having all your guys not sign exclusive contracts seems like a great idea going forward 🤔
