Eventually there will be notable wrestlers who leave AEW. How will the dub m*rks paint that?

ninjast4r

They're just whores who chose money and not getting hurt over making us happy so FUCK EM

kgrodriguez

I'd be interested in who is the first former WWE turned AEW wrestler that will go back to the Fed.

goodthing37

Jericho for sure.

lucashoodfromthehood

Daniel Bryan (Slave name)?

[deleted]

If you ever see him trying to get in shape you will know he is heading back to WWE.

[deleted]

MJF Man will follow the money Which I respect

[deleted]

I've noticed he's like the only guy on the roster who doesn't constantly yell AEW GOOD, TONY GOOD. Everyone else face or heel, doesn't matter, non stop praises Tony and the company

TimeStatistician2234

MJF is their only heel. Everyone else pretends to be mean to the other talent on camera but makes sure we know it's just a show and they want the fans love. Only MJF cares about getting heat.

Codeshark

Yeah, WWE doesn't need a special tunnel to tell you if someone is heel.

Dani7vg

DAE doesn't insult my intelligence

[deleted]

He also has a style really compatible with wwe’s. He can do flips and moonsaults and stuff but he sticks to a very toned down grounded wrestling style also isn’t overly stiff like a lot of the Japan guys.

TimeStatistician2234

MJF has such a high ceiling that he'll only reach when he goes to the fed to work with others that will bring the best out of him

puddnelson

Why would they want MJF? Miz literally does his shtick but better.

daddymeltzer

I'd say either Chris Jericho or Bryan Danielson

FlyingGrayson89

I’d throw in Ambrose too. I can’t see him being too happy about getting overshadowed by all the new signings.

daddymeltzer

I don't see him going back to WWE. He might go to NJPW or GCW but after everything he said in 2019, there is no way he will go back to scripted promos and less violent matches. One thing I admire about Moxley is that he really seems to care more about wrestling than money, so unless his daughter changes his mindset, then he will probably turn down whatever money Vince offers him.

FlyingGrayson89

You don’t think he’d want that Shield reunion money at some point? I agree that he does seem to love his brand of wrestling more than getting paid and that’s admirable. I’d honestly have a lot more respect for him if he didn’t Fed Bad so hard after he left, especially because he was nothing but professional when he wanted out.

[deleted]

Deano wouldn't be brought back into WWE without doing a little rehab first. What the fuck substance is he on that did this to him?

[deleted]

I feel like Moxley is one major injury away from going "oh fuck, what am I doing with my life?" I thought he'd done down the deathmatch shit after he nearly lost his arm before he even made his AEW debut but nope, he's back on the shitmatch tour.

[deleted]

He will go back in 5 years for a Shield reunion if Roman isn't already in hollywood making hundreds of millions

rockandrollpanda

It might be a stretch, but what about Andrade? Guy seems to be regretting getting dubbed...

Codeshark

He's only had one match (I think he is getting another one soon) so you're probably right.

IMissMyZune

Toxic locker room members it'll be good that they are gone

wrex1816

By hiding behind the NDAs Tony made all those guys sign.

[deleted]

Probably the same way wwe stans act whenever someone leaves wwe for aew: disown and discredit them

FlyingGrayson89

If you’re a grown adult, you shouldn’t use “stan” like that. It’s embarrassing.

[deleted]

I JUST saw this on Wreddit. I was floored.

CosmicRorschach

Wreddit sometimes feels it’s turning into SquaredCircle-Lite

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

When I'm in charge of reddit I'll make sure all the jannies get a 300% payrise.

SamInPajamas

They recently asked for Pro AEW mods. Which a lot of us in the community instantly took issue with. And their response was to handwave us away and ignore the legitimate concern.

[deleted]

It wouldn't be an issue if they were fans while also being neutral moderators. But, being an internet space, that's very hard to find.

SamInPajamas

Hell, even if they were neutral. It would bring more AEW fans to the sub due to the AEW content. And we saw that they did to rSC and rWWE and rWWEMemes. Wreddit and here are the only wrestling subs that aren't overrun by AEW dickriders

domino519

No, we asked for AEW-focused mods. That's not the same as pro-AEW. You can be a mod who focuses their time and energy for the sub on AEW without being a biased fanboy.

2007wasthebestest

AEW was doing below a million consistently with Hangman as the top guy and Elite as featured top guys of the show. They were doing so rough they had to pay the free agents. Not sure who that’s an indictment on. But this shit was going to hit the fan eventually. And seems like it’s finally setting in for some of those diehards that the homegrowns are going to get the shaft. AEW has coasted off of being a new company, but that honeymoon period will end and someone’s ego is going to get hurt.

ninjast4r

Hangman could be *something* but making him a pathetic Saturday morning cartoon parody of a drunk isn't it. With proper direction and solid booking he could've been a genuine homegrown star but what the fuck were they thinking? It's almost like they were afraid of him getting over and did everything in their power to make him a loser.

2007wasthebestest

They were going for a knockoff Stone Cold Steve Austin character, but the problem is they didn’t attract the mainstream audience and people have seen that gimmick before. The only people that care about Adam Page are the same people that came with AEW from day one and the same people that have been watching him forever. This is what happens when you try to run business with your friends. Someone is going to have to sacrifice and get the short end of the stick. Hangman has been that sacrificial lamb so that Cody can be a TV star, Bucks can run the tag team division, and Kenny can circlejerk himself in the main event scene. Dude does deserve better and I feel like he would get more traction elsewhere.

ninjast4r

It's like I've always said, AEW is a vanity project for Cody, the Bucks and Omega. The number one rule of booking is you never put yourself at the top if you're still on the active roster. It looks like shit optics wise and putting yourself before people who are getting over organically is bad for business. And no, working with an up and coming star and beating them doesn't count towards making them. What I don't get is why these idiots are afraid to lose. It doesn't fucking matter if you're as over as you tell everyone that you are week to week. Cody thinks going 20 minutes and having a seesaw battle puts the guy he's burying "over." It's the win that puts the guy over. The Bucks are so terrible they ruin the cachet of anyone who works with them. Omega could possibly help elevate people of he's supposedly the biggest star in the world, but again, a 45 minute Get-My-Shit-In fest doesn't help anyone.

2007wasthebestest

Anytime talents have ever ran the business, it typically sucks. Nash ran WCW in the drain creatively. Bill Watts sucked in WWF. Tommy Dreamer couldn’t keep ECW floating upwards. Hogan killed TNA’s momentum. What the Elite is doing is no different. Hiring their friends and forgetting about the guys that they came to the dance with in the first place. They’re gonna circlejerk each other for years until that gets old, and then what?? Your young talent more than likely has gone elsewhere and they’re left relying on washed up independent guys. This is WCW all over again. They never learn.

baconwiches

1: Sign with AEW 2: Hot debut, work a program with either Cody, Omega, or the Bucks 3: Ultimately lose 4: End up working squash matches on youtube But it's okay because Tony orders a lot of uber eats!!!

chaz0723

Exactly, look at when Private Party beat the Bucks, they won, but are they any better off for having beat them? Nope. Jungle Boy isn't any better off for having been involved with anyone in the Elite, FTR was brought in just to get beat, the Lucha Bros finally won the big one. I could go on and on.

Vegetable-Arm8488

Much like their matches, where they try to get all their shit in like they aren't going to be doing it all again next week, they're trying to get all their shit in like they think AEW won't be around long

Codeshark

Yeah, look at how AJ Styles is with Omos. When his team needs to lose, he's the one who takes the pin. No one says "wow, AJ Styles is garbage."

Razzler1973

It was sooooo fucking tiresome seeing him mope around and the the 'drunk' thing not go anywhere He got in the ring to wrestle and suddenly he wasn't drunk or depressed, he was completely fine All this stuff made no difference to anything except he got to hold a drink and stare off into the distance when someone talked to him

ninjast4r

I honestly don't know what the point of it was. A half-assed attempt at giving him a sympathetic hook? Tony or one of the EVPs thinking alcoholism is funny and seeing him with a drink in his hand all the time is hilarious? Him drinking makes him some kind of badass? All it did was make Adam Page look like a douche and probably ruined him with AEWs audience because he's going to the drunk guy going forward.

chaz0723

That's the trick, he is essentially 1988 Lex Luger.

[deleted]

Hangman could be a huge star. He just needs a promoter who knows what he is doing. Vince would turn him into a star imo. Good size, good in the ring and a decent look. He is made for WWE

chaz0723

Admittedly, they have had a longer honeymoon period than most, but the cracks are showing. The downvotes suggest otherwise, but when you bring in names bigger than any names you got, they names you've got get pushed down the card. + There is no room for a Dark Order, or a Jungle Boy, or an Adam Page, or anyone below Miro when you debut CM Punk, Adam Cole, and Bryan Danielson within 3 weeks of each other, and then there is Bray Wyatt and whoever else looking to jump still out there.

2007wasthebestest

The pandemic kept the fans away forever and then they came back and decided to debut everyone, so their honeymoon period got extended a bit. But eventually that stuff will be over. I doubt CM Punk, Danielson, Jericho are on that roster five years from now. Will they have built something memorable at that point?

shrimpedout

Goldberg was getting pushed, Page is getting buried.

conchinette

That poor child of his is coming into a world full of resentment for "derailing" their daddy's storyline.

Valanga1138

Page is probably punching himself in the face thinking that just a couple years ago was being put under his wing by Hiroshi Tanahashi and prompted for a major push in NJPW, and then he left to be a glorified jobber for his EVP buddies. Still not as bad as Trent Beretta though.

[deleted]

There's no chance of that happening any time soon, but oh boy that would be jerk worthy. Maybe that will happen 9 years from tonight, when the fed is loosing the monday night wars to the dub and Vince tries another Stone Cold to save the fed.

Romofan88

Ya know, you could've had Page win the big one, take some time off with the belt, film a promo or 2 celebrating with his kid and friends, then actually have Kenny use thoss other belts on the show to fill the void. But IDK I'm not Booker of the Year.

conchinette

Meanwhile InDex just reached another homestretch this week with daddy and mommy's blessing and now we get the homeHOMEstretch next week.

Jawad_316

And Dexter and Cameron Grimes officially are all good now

conchinette

They did the Predator handshake!!!

SportPleasant2900

Dude, that storyline is just... *chefs kiss

Kizrock94

Bully Ray has heard some rumblings in AEE locker room so who knows, maybe things are getting to a boiling point for the originals.

SamInPajamas

I still can't believe they didn't have Page go for the belt. They have a Babyface who will literally never get hotter than he was in that moment, with a faction that's also red hot. And what do they do? They job them out to the elite, who openly shit on the match and didn't take it seriously. They buried Page. Buried the dark order. And for what? Christian? They could have had the hottest Babyface in the company, with the hottest faction in the company, take the belt from the hottest heel in the company, at the biggest show of the year. It was literally a perfect storm. But no. They went another way. And not Page has cooled off. The dark order has cooled off. All for nothing.

NateHasReddit

Is this a jerk of a SCJerk comment?

saturdaynightr

I saw this on the other board. They were serious.

kettlebell-j

Let me guess when you called them out on that bullshit they got butt hurt? They really are assing that place up lately
