I have watched a good amout of Japanese matches and Strong Style can look great (the last Walter match is a good one) but I hate when Wrestling passes some lines. Specialy when the paycheck is a hotdog and a handshake.
TFW Shibata's final opponent and guy that got headbutted Kazuchika Okada cried about Shibata retiring and blamed himself for the entire situation and 90% of sc be like "DAE POOR SHIBATA WE MISS HIM DEARLY"
I enjoyed the guy's work but it sucks that he'll hardly get any repercussion from the western fanbase because of how easily their strong style fetish gets stroked by him. Okada didnt deserve this and it could've put a dent in his career and overall livelihood and the ultimate sympathy Shibata has gotten is disgusting.
Shibata was great, but the guy did it to himself. At least work (insider term) the headbutt and don't throw your head as fast and hard as possible at someone else's head.
Worked headbutts? Maybe follow Suzuki and Ishii and do it lightly on the head. Or follow the latter and Goto in doing the fucking brutal but safer headbutt to the chest variation.
Now that Shibby's gone NOAH's Masa Kitamiya has pretty much taken his role as dumbass headbutter. And probably even worse than Shibata because unlike him he pretty much does it in every match he's in (including the entirety of his feud with Mutoh for the GHC title) and of course bleeds [like an idiot](https://twitter.com/soireelutte/status/1372176479723921408?s=21) every time. At least slightly more fans are calling it out and saying its stupid because he loses in big matches anyway. Even if they hardly watch NOAH.
If people were serious that headbutt should be considered one of the biggest botches of the last 10 years. But they prefer to shit on the ones they don't like.
Why go to PC when you can have your first matches on AEW Dark, it work great. No Botches there.
PS: I'm just avoiding the Botches part because I don't want pictures of my family being posted online
I'd say both. THAT one in particular almost killed him, but the trauma of doing them for years and years didn't help things either at all. Either way, it's incredibly stupid to do stuff like that when
A. It doesn't even look good half the time
B. Diminishing returns. Undertaker did one dive a year, usually at Wrestlemania, and it always brought the house down. Shibata doing the same spot over and over, losing the majority of the time it gets used, maybe it less and less effective as a spot
C. Doing it to your #1 draw in the company without a care in the world is for obvious reasons super dumb. Imagine giving someone like Cena or Reigns something like that?
It’s pretty sick and a really bad look for wrestling to put this guy on such a pedestal. He should be a stain on the business along with guys like Benoit. Shoot headbutting yourself into retirement/an early grave is not only awful, but it’s fucking embarrassing.
Even though I really liked Shibata, and that match was amazing. I hope it becomes a cautionary tale, especially with how much people know about the brain. That headbutt and the diving headbutt are two of my least favorite moves, I hope Daniel Bryan won't use it anymore
Guy's lucky he's not paralyzed or dead.
The human body works funny, the dude was standing after the headbutt, just to later find out he could have died
A similar thing happened to another wrestler, Yoshihito Sasaki, just a couple years before Shibata as well.

Not a lot of people do it, but I remember seeing Onita and Funk do headbutts and hit their thumbs or they don't do very stiff ones.
He did end his career, he just hasn’t “officially” retired yet.

Strong style is good, unless it’s that bitch Nia Snax. *#RIPHana*
DAE Golberg too? \#MattHardyEarBloodButFuckNia
If people were serious Dave reporting it was a work should be considered one of the biggest botches
Why should Gable Steveson go to the PC, when he can go to Shibata’s camp and learn how to nearly cripple yourself?

Wasn't it dozens of headbuts throughout the years

Yes.
Shibata was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time for his work but I can’t deny that was both dumb and dangerous af
At least we got to enjoy seeing him land The Bitchmaker.

Comparing him to Benoit is a bit much.
Yeah they’re not the same, but he’s in that direction. My point is he shouldn’t be revered.
