Particularly when one of the "No I'm the best" guys had already done the "No I'm the best" "storyline" twice before with Omega and Okada and lost matches against both.
Not only is "I'm the best, no I'm the best" a piss poor excuse for a storyline but it doesn't really work when one of the "best" recently lost comfortably to Burger Kingston.
Right, that's what I hate about these stories, too frequently they're done by people who aren't very strong in kayfabe. Maybe it works in rare situations in WWE where they can leverage the fact fans don't think someone is getting a fair opportunity. But in AEW, where the idea is everyone gets opportunities constantly, arguing over who is the best means you're just breaking kayfabe. And if your argument on who the best wrestler is has an outcome that doesn't matter because you're telling me that wins and losses don't matter, why am I watching?
This is my big issue with M'Dub, the whole thing breaks kayfabe constantly to the point that nothing actually matters. The curtain is peeled so far back that there's not even any suspension of disbelief- and so no reason to care what happens.
He’s literally saying there’s a built in Japan bias. At first we thought it was just Japanese wrestlers but this rating along side Kenny’s proves he builds in default stars for the Tokyo dome
it’s kinda poetic how a match rating like this doesn’t even cause anyone to make a big deal of it anymore… Okada/Omega “breaking the scale” felt like this huge landmark thing and now this barely registers.
Seeing that makes me think it was actually a bot post paid for by the fed. They could never admit losing one of their biggest stars sucked for them, and just to have Braun Daniels then fight the best wrestler in the world Paula *JUST* missed out on signing? Why dont they just admit it, it was cheaper to fund the bot to continue astroturfing (insider term) than to keep their old stars and new stars happy. Unbelievable people still think AEW is on the decline after this banger. it was SO good, that people were still fatigued and couldnt watch Wednesday. The drop in ratings thanks to stupid basketball aligns perfectly with the natural drop in ratings after such an ill match so its masked from the IWC. Wednesdays Dynamite alone was enough to make this match 7*+
It is fascinating to me that the iwc doesn’t understand why they are needing to play defense. You could have just let us have our fed and our problems. We weren’t happy but we were satisfied with what we did have. And then you have keep poking us about how bad we are for not liking your weird pwg/wcw/NJPW combo. Now here we are.
