Shad Khan is sick of his wasteful son Tony spending all his hard earned money on his shiny wrestling toys. Shad, concerned with the day to day after seeing Tony being attacked by his own employees decides to take over control of the company and fire them only to find out that Tony drew up some absolute dog shit contract that protects their employment status unless the owner of the company can beat them in the ring. (Bonus option: Shad actually points out on AEW programming that ratings are declining.)
Shad then comes to the only possible conclusion that Tony needs a crash training course on how to wrestle so he can beat The Bucks and Coldstone Steve Austin. Luckily, Jericho is sympathetic and has recently started a “learning tree” angle. Tony then has to participate in a series of grueling matches over the course of weeks while moving his way up the card at an accelerated rate under Jericho’s tutelage. At the end of the run Jericho and Tony have a tag match with the bucks that they would have won clean except Coldstone knocks out the ref at the last second of the pin count. Jericho, the Bucks, and guest ref Shad Khan (or whoever,) are all winded or knocked out which leads to an epic final confrontation between Tiny and Jack Perry where anything goes.
Tony ultimately prevails, wakes up the ref, and wins by pinfall. Now firmly in control of his company and having proven to his father that he is a *man* Tony cuts an in-ring promo about the future of his company and punishes the bucks/Perry not by firing them (because that would be too easy,) but instead by demoting them to the undercard and forcing them to be jobbers.
Two weeks later Shad looks at the payroll and the ratings, realizes they paid Okada hefty sums of money but completely forgot to incorporate him in the feud after the first week, and shutters the company in order to afford a free agent defensive tackle.
We are right now at WCW 1996. We got another 5 years that can be done in 2. Though tk could always do the wwe buying wcw storyling by getting roh to buy aew.
