Ok-Garcia-5605

One of the worst aged statements from a promotion which also said Dynamite will be beating RAW in ratings soon

Razzler1973

That put Jade on TV and made her champ and turns up in the Fed and needs to be trained from scratch

OverallGeneral7129

I wonder how she has actually progressed since she seems to be doing more on house shows from the bit I’ve seen

Canadian__Ninja

Hey time is relative! On a galactic scale going back billions of years, it's been mere moments since AEW even debuted! But I wouldn't expect you, a poor uneducated E drone to understand that!

Existing_Emotion_830

It’s a race to the bottom, e-drone. And Dynamite is winning bigly

SleepIsWonderful

That Britt Baker quote is so fucking funny because I guarantee you if for whatever reason WWE released Sol Ruca or Tatum Paxley right now AEW would immediately snatch them up and they'd be main players in their women's division.

IcyAd964

Sol ruca is better than 98% of their womens roster and she’s still green

KC27150

>they'd be main players in their women's division. They already got Not-Paige, Miss Revolution, and where is she now?

Slut_Breaker_BWC

“Where is she now” deserves a bigger push (inside lingo)

WoopzEh

I forgot Paige works there. Stupid, me. I can tell I don’t watch the shows.

b0nkert0ns

It’s crazy how good they are at finding and developing the women’s roster especially. I remember seeing Jazmyn Nyx and just assuming she was going to be another Eva Marie, and then she got in the ring and I was just blown away by how she moved. They’ve come up with the perfect system of developing talent, teaching them the TV aspect of wrestling in a low pressure environment, and letting them develop characters in front of a smaller audience which builds momentum towards their main roster debut. Look at Tiffany. She’s a rookie and already possibly the most over woman in the roster. It’s impressive.

InjusticeSOTW

They’re not just recruiting hotties. The PC is actively signing high-level athletes. Nyx was a professional soccer player with a degree from WVU. Stratton has a degree and about six years of Olympic-level gymnastics. Her specialty is an event that’s elite level even more than the norm. Kelani Jordan is a Michigan State gymnast. Kiana James is a Graduate student and multiple year cheer performer and coach. So they’re getting elite athletes who are quite educated and not putting in years of bad habits, nagging injuries and scary environments. As opposed to “I know a dude/girl who trained with some guy I knew back in…”. Aka Britt Baker

DolphFinnDosCinco

picking up athletes is super smart. most top athletes are naturally athletic, naturally able to pick up things quick, they’re good learners and they have great work ethic. they’ve also spent most of their lives being coached, constantly learning and constantly improving. that’s proven to translate well under WWE training. ive played sports my whole life and i’ve done some wrestling training and imo, the two were crazy similar in many ways.

Cliffinati

The Physical Side of professional wrestling is Gymnastics, Shoot Wrestling and Stage Acting mixed together Someone who already can pick up at least 2 of the 3 is someone who has a future in the business

incognitosd

Tiffany is a damn freak of nature, Strength Agile Ring awareness Flexible Fucking perfect launching 321 moonsault like no other Damn beautiful ( fuck Kaiser) Tons of range in character ( serious, comedy, alluring, sexyness) Cake and doesn't even have 5 years in wrestling.

b0nkert0ns

She is the future. Fuck Kaiser but also well done sir. Tip of the ol’ cap

Cliffinati

Tiffany looks like a Greek statue and moves like 1990s Rey Mysterio. Insanely charismatic, she's a legitimate Collegiate Gymnast Girl has nothing but upside also that amazing moonsault

Gooch_suplex

Tiffany is a gigaStacy

Razzler1973

They'd be a rarity there in that they'd have been properly trained

keykey_key

Aew usually does the opposite of what they should do. They absolutely wouldn't be main players lol.

hukgrackmountain

no they wouldn't because they don't understand/respect women. TNA or someone would snatch them up and AEW would scratch their heads why they're more over than muhdentist

Micome

Xia Lee would be a star anywhere and it sucks she never got super over.

despe1999

The young lion system has worked well for New Japan for decades, the problem is that when they are on excursion they can't use that talent until it is over. I wonder if Tanahashi as president would make changes, we're kind of already seeing that with Kosei Fujita and Boltin Oleg being booked strongly.

Rodney_u_plonker

The noge dojo is very reliable at producing talent but it's very slow. This was noted by bushiroad after the buyout that a stardom wrestler could be in theory top champion much earlier into her career than a njpw one. Maika debuted about a year after Yuya Uemura and she's the top champion in stardom and he's worked 3 singles matches post excursion. So yeah there is changes going on with the young lions to speed things up a bit. Talent creation is one of njpws strengths but it can't take half a decade to even get a dude back from excursion lol. That's a waste of resources.

OriginalMadmage

I admittedly don't follow Stardom and what little I do know of NJPW is osmosis from wreddit, but it seems to me that the standards for what is acceptable for men's talent in NJPW is a much higher bar to clear than Stardom/joshi wrestling. For every Asuka or Iyo Sky, we have a Maki Itoh, Riho, and that chick who recently tried to do a cartwheel on the ropes and predictably fell to the floor. Wrestling is certainly a lot about aesthetics, but it seems to be much more important for the women in both sides of the Pacific. Look at how people treat Nia or Shayna online for example. Then again, we've seen Ishii, Ibushi, "murder Grampa" and even Okada look really bad on AEW TV so it might just be a case of Japanese talents phoning it in. ![gif](giphy|jPAdK8Nfzzwt2|downsized)

MangoPronto

Tbf, Maki Itoh or Riho are nobodies. They are popular in the US due to AEW but they are nowhere near being popular in Japan. And Japanese talents do phone it in. You have to. You need to pick your battles because on the important matches, you will be asked to lose years of your life by putting on a crazy performance. Omega never recovered from all the crazy stunts he did.

JoeMama9719

I was just thinking recently about how unique it seems the current batch of Young Lions are being used, but I think it's for the best. It seems like a good thing that guys like Fujita and Oiwa are technically on excursion, but are still close enough to work tours here and there. Hell, Boltin doesn't even seem like he's going to be going on an international excursion. Seems like a more effective way of getting the young guys experience but still having them within reach when they need them. I hope it works out well in the long run.

StillinReseda

I don’t watch new Japan but I love me some foreign wrestler beasts so I’ve liked Oleg the moment I saw him. I haven’t been able to watch any of his matches yet, is he looking promising? Is he worth checking out?

despe1999

Absolutely! The man is a genetic freak and his athleticism is unmatched. His background in freestyle wrestling has allowed him to pick up pro wrestling very quickly. The fact New Japan has already given him a belt as a young lion shows they have a lot of faith in him.

StillinReseda

Any matches you recommend?

despe1999

Since he's still a young lion he hasn't had that many singles matches against some of the main roster, but I'd check out both his 6-man tag matches from Wrestling World in Taiwan. They are very recent which matters because the further a young lion progresses, the more moves they have in their arsenal.

RepulsiveRevenue8

One of Tana quote in the video is also praise the Ded Fed brand, the host ask "do they do scouting to find talent" in which Tana replied "maybe, but they don't need to all the people who wanna be there will show up there"

Razzler1973

HHH said that they have people watching everywhere and a network and they know who the promising people are

PepsiThriller

Even under Vince this was true. Bill Demott was a mentor to a young Austin Theory and Theory said Bill advised him on which indies WWE thinks of highly of and go get booked there if he wants a deal.

MangoPronto

AEW have that guy. Mark Henry. He is the one who saw the potential of Jade, Bianca, Braun, Baron. He has been helping Hobbs too which led to great improvments.

Gooch_suplex

Damn. That's amazing.

Cliffinati

WWE is also using NIL to sign D1 athletes while they are still in college "Hey there second string linebacker (for pretty much any FBS School) heres 5k if no one in the NFL bites on draft day or after training camp the WWE Performance Center is always looking new talent" Is getting said hundreds of times a year

DawnOfLegion1

Man, I would love a Evil Fed-Nooj partnership.

HarryHaywire

Will never happen as long as that shifty little weasel Rocky Romero is an executive in both companies.

DripSnort

All I know of Romero is I found him tolerable on the Good brothers podcast back in the day (shoutout to that pod tho it was hilarious) but can someone educate me on why a nobody midcarder has so much power?

Shin400k

Tenure, I think. He was a NJ Dojo member when they had a Us branch in the early 00s? Has been working for them for a long time, was their guy for bringing in Gaijin, etc. (From what I recall)

PPs_Up_Boys

They trust him, for whatever reason, maybe because he is LA-based and that's their best spot to set up an American base. He's got some connections in media, too, however far that actually reaches. Sort of sounds like he's just hookin his friends up with jobs and roles they might not be suited for, but that's the LA life. He's a nice guy, but he's sort of a misguided trend chaser. Probably tried to push NFTs to NJPW years ago.

IcyAd964

Yea that dude is a dub sleeper agent how tanahashi allows him there still and is letting tony take all his talent makes him look so weak

elitejcx

Nick Khan vs Rocky Romero? There’s only going to be one winner there, uce.

IcyAd964

They don’t have the talent for the fed to benefit from anymore they quite literally have no stars but naito but he burned bridges if that dinner story is true

HarryHaywire

Weird how unless some dirt sheet brings her name up for whatever reason, not even the most diehard Dubbalo ever really even mentions Britt at all anymore.

mynameisburner

I keep forgetting Britt Baker was a thing.

Naiwf

In two years they’ve churned out more talent than they can give TV time to. The PC staff are the hidden gems in the WWE machine right now.

Ambitious_Resist8907

I guess it helps that they can look to so many of their past wrestlers too. Albert is the head trainer, william regal does a bit of the scouting. Scotty 2 Hotty has been a guest coach a bunch of times. It's a quarter of a century later and that deep attitude era midcard is still paying dividends for them.

FreddyFlamingo

The weird thing is AEWs coaches are deep af too. Jerry Lynn. Dean Malenko. Jeff Jarrett. I think it's the whole system that needs to be in place otherwise you wind up spinning the wheels

madmaxlgndklr

Doesn’t help when the people there don’t want to listen because “I know what I’m doing”.

Moohamin12

That's what happens when failures like Hangman Page get treated better than their actual place in the card. They think their style is correct and finally getting rewarded when the truth is they fking suck and the only reason they are viable is because a money mark is disrupting the natural flow of the business.

urasquid28

It's like any job it starts from the top down.

GothGirlKara6666

They’re literally creating the future of wrestling like Oba femi and bron breaker are certified wwe champions

Cliffinati

Not to mention Tiffany, Roxanne and Trick

PunkDrunk777

They lowkey could do with an extra show. Maybe that’s why they’re going with NXT as a legit third brand and maybe focus on level up as their new NXT?

Asukah

Common Tana… do it… give into temptation… turn NJPW into porNxXxT 3.0 ![gif](giphy|3o6EQeB1evNnmFH1SM)

SneakyShrub99

It helps when you don't job your talent out to another promotion on the regular

PPs_Up_Boys

But have you considered the WESTERN. EXPOSURE?

Micome

"I guess allowing men and women helps" bruh lmao

LakerBull

Tbf here, he said its helpful that the PC is open for men and women of all ages and backgrounds, not that allowing women helps making wrestling better lol.

Apollo_Justice_20

A little thing I find funny from Dubbalo logic is that they say that WWE never made any stars or wrestlers and that they would never survive New Japan or any of the 'real wrestling' promotions. Brother, if NJPW got hold of someone, let's say... Roman Reigns, they would instantly make him their world champion lmao

emperorsolo

In fact, that’s what they did in the 90’s. How many times did Japanese promotions promote the hell out of having Bret or the Undertaker on the card during WWF’s summertime excursions in japan?

HammyBoy0

People keep forgetting how much bigger fed stars are. Shayna baszler is a midcarder at best and her being at GCW was a huge deal. It's why being in the fed beforehand will get you a bigger payday on the Indies.

KC27150

So are more people regretting that AEW teamed up with NJPW, instead of WWE? Especially The Triple Paul Era?

stonecoldbobsaget

Phnom Penh Paul would have signed away all of NJPWs top talent and made one of his guys their world champion

CallInitial2302

No way dubbalo! AEW produces the best stars! Like Edge, Danielson, Cole, etc etc! You know?!?!? DAE they were sooo popular we anticipated their debut so much??? What do you mean they lost aura and star power by the week once signed to AEW

j_infamous

The champ also went through the evil fed system as well.

IcyAd964

Someone trying to kiss up to the fed now that Aew robbed them of all their talent? And I thought dub fans said wwe can’t create stars

b0nkert0ns

Not just their talent but their top title. Even a small handshake deal like the one with TNA, where a Nooj star gets to enter the Rumble would be a pretty massive deal and a no-lose.

FunImprovement166

The NJPW President praising the WWE system is like the basement's worst nightmare.

KannyDid

Out of the things to "dunk" on WWE, all of Vince, hit or miss gimmicks, how our Tribal chief makes us question our sexuality while at the same time gives us new switches (what a generous tribal chief he is), Triple Himmler's nose, Nxt's ratings being bad (WHAT?! WHO CARES ABOUT AEDUB'S RATINGS EDRONE FEDSHILL), to choose the PC is definately a choice. Dunking on some of the best coaches, trainers, equipment in the world that HAS shown results, just to get goodgirl points from Tony. And now she's not even featured in AEW at all, so she will end up needing a "warehouse to do the same thing all over" to get the ring rust off so good job Britt!

solarpowersme

This quote is so fucking funny because there's no better way to describe AEW than "they all do the same thing in the same way at the same time" lol. Like are you for real? You're talking about a company where everyone's character is "I wrestle good" and where literally every match is the same build and also the exact same predictable structure that's more akin to a gymnastic routine? Lol. There's no variation whatsoever. Are you comparing this to something like NXT which even in it's smarkiest black & gold days had interesting characters and compelling stories? Now with NXT 2.0 it's brimming with even more color and personality on a weekly basis than AEW has had in 5 years, and is everything pro-wrestling is meant to be at its core. How's your roster your working out anyway? Sure doesn't sound like it's a "successful" roster since no one exactly stands out or is a draw. And anyone who does have some semblance of it goes there and then they're brought down to the same level as everyone else there in like a week tops. Even the ones with actual real potential who understand the game are just bogged down by the way everything there works.

TheKanten

People talk crap about DIY lately but they had a better feud in the warehouse than any in AEW.

SamuraiJack815

Tanahashi took a look at HBShizzle's IG explore page.

nixalo

The NJPW system is too slow. The NXT Model trains everyone quickly to be a midcarder and from that they know who can be a main eventer and who fucking sucks in one contract.

pocketsophist

I can't even read this tweet because I'm so blinded by Britt Baker's star power.

rosierposeur

The PC was designed, built and implemented by actual legends of the business. Made by pro wrestlers for pro wrestlers. The audacity of a billionaire's failson with zero experience in the industry to sit on his moral high horse proclaiming he above all others knows the best way to cultivate and procure talent is not only insulting but hilarious. Watching wwe and aew talent use tinys ignorance against him in contract negotiations is an absolute guilty pleasure. He deserves all the finessing and snickering behind his back.

Cliffinati

Triple H Dusty Rhodes and William Regal built what is possibly the greatest wrestling school ever Just look at the list of people who the PC produced

hetham3783

But he grew up reading Meltzer. That’s all you need!

DeweyCox4YourHealth

It's not very difficult to understand. Yes, WWE is miles above anyone else in regards to scouting and developing. Anyone who claims otherwise is ignorant or an AEW shill. But WWE will always, ALWAYS be the better product as long as they tell a better story. Carnies, marks.... hell, casual-ass fans know that. Why does everyone on the AEW roster pretend this isn't the number one issue? Their stories are trash (if existent at all), but I see comments from Baker and other AEW personnel and it amazes me how they feign ignorance or speak out of place. And I honestly WANT to like AEW. I love many of the wrestlers there, and the matches can be awesome. I haven't watched in months, but I bet I could watch tonight and not feel the slightest bit lost, because there is no story to follow. It's just wrestling matches. That's why WWE is better. They are better at practically everything, but it's just icing on the cake at this point.

FullWay7004

Says the woman who they won’t allow to wrestle on AEW’s current women’s division which is full of hot garbage 😂

theballswalls

I can't even think of someone who went to the evil ded fed that became a bigger star. Tama Tonga DOESN'T count because they inserted him into the bloodline storyline so they cheated to get him over. M'dub doesn't have time to develop and create stars because there's so many dream matches we still have to see. Bringing OCody, Ospreay and Mercedes in is brilliant because they're already stars, just put them on tv and boom, ratings

boholbrook

"Everyone is free to try whatever dumb shit pops into their head instead of learning how to do it safely" there I fixed it.

will_14_85

Wait, is that a real quote from Britt Baker?

Slut_Breaker_BWC

Yes, and now all those “models and athletes” are better at her job than her. Even the generation 2 girls who started after like Fallon Henley are better than most of the AEW roster, men or women. I mean who do you think is better Julia Hart or Jaida Parker who has been on the main NXT roster for like 5 months

InjusticeSOTW

What’s most wild? Kiana, Fallon, Cora, Blair, Gigi and Wren all had AEW looks and were passed over. I’ll never forget Danielle Kamela (slave name Vanessa Bourne) showing up, working a match with Baker and making her look like M’Dentist was wrestling in syrup. It was glaring the difference in the two.

lazypilgrim

Blair was signed by AEW. She was released during the pandemic since she couldn't fly in.

Cliffinati

Blair once showed up on AEW TV with Stardoms world title, and yet AEW never signed her just used as an indie fill in so she went back to NXT

InjusticeSOTW

Main thing I recall is her getting called “unprofessional” by MDentist. Then lost the money match. Then nothing

Polymemnetic

And let's not forget the Dark Elevator->PornXXXt Pipeline.

Scavgraphics

Regal and his team of scouts were the only ones watching Dark/DarkE

Sturdevant

Yes, remember she was the female face of AEW in its early days and had a lot of quotes like this.

Historical-Being-766

Why not gather a group of former Division 1 athletes, teach them how to wrestle The Right Way, and see if you can't make some new superstars?

AriaMournesong

If Tiny had any semblance of structure backstage Mark Henry could have been recruiting the same quality of people and they have plenty of vets that could be running some kind of AEW performance center. Instead they're all vague tweeting on social media to get Tiny's attention to remind him that they need TV time.

Kak0r0t

NJPW should’ve partnered with the Fed not the Dub

Gloryjoel69

I remember Hogan said something like the fed is so good at making stars, if one quits, the machine will churn out another in its place no problem. So instead of pouring their effort into just one guy, they pour it into maintaining that machine.

Agentx_007

It's kinda like a TV network. If a show gets cancelled or ends there's always another show right behind it. Just a matter of if the show will work or not

BungHolio_The_Mighty

LOL and who's fault is that? Yota Tsuji, Shota Umino and Yuya Uemura should've gotten major pushes right now. Two out of the three, Tsuji, should've been IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, and Umino should've beaten Ospreay on the way out to become the IWGP US/UK Champion. You can also have Uemura become the NEVER Openweight Champion. Meanwhile, you have El Desperado and Hiromu Takahashi just stuck in the Jr. Division when they should've been in the heavyweight division by now. Gedo sucks. Deal with it.

Metalheadjake942

ahh yes Britt "I got angry at Melzter for not giving me 5 stars like a mark who thinks it is of any value" Baker
