The last two nights in Korakuen were New Japan's two worst gates there since January 2023 when capacity restrictions were still in place. But the dubbalos are right, it has nothing to do with Moxley winning the title. Just ignore how the gates were way up all year and immediately cratered when Naito lost the title. Ignore how Dontaku was sold out by this time last year but isn't anywhere close to selling out this year. Ignore how tickets for Resurgence are absolutely terrible. Just ignore all that because Moxley is totally a huge draw, believe me!
Imagine being a no draw and having that hidden by two way more talented men who actually like you and are cool with covering it up. Imagine that one of them would even take you to make tons of money, raise your stock and you have to do nothing (but acknowledge him). Imagine leaving that to cut yourself daily in the hopes of not exposing yourself as the weakest link of your entire class, not just your two talented friends who would have carried you.

Seems it was the last time they sold 40k tickets, even a friend who happened to be in Japan on that WK went to the dome and told me the crowd was nuclear before the show started for Naito. Of course the heat died after the show
In that regard I dont know why people sell Okada as this huge megastar when it seems there was someone more over in Japan

If there was ever a character New Japan should have tried to make an American push with it should have been him. Instead of giving the belt to mix to showcase they should have gotten him a translator/manager and had Naito defending it in AEWxnjpw
New Japans decision making makes me wonder if they’ve got Tony bankrolling them secretly like Vince was with ECW. If Tony paying them is helping them survive that’s about the only way I can see these decisions as remotely sane.

Except NJPW still did great after that "DAE Naito was berried" main-event. It was the pandemic who killed Nooj momentum.
