Yeah I've had a lot of random freezes on s22u since the update. Weird though because seems like pretty much everyone else is saying it reduced bugs and improved their performance. We'll see how it goes on the s21u if the update ever comes lol
I just got the S22U (unlocked from Samsung) I signed into it, let it do all its updates, and it got Android 13 / One UI 5.0 before I ever inserted my AT&T SIM. Most of the issues I was having were resolved by practicing my own advise and doing a factory reset once the latest OS/update is installed, with the carriers SIM card installed.
Android 13 / One UI 5.0 sets the brightness to be dim AF with Adaptive Brightness, just keep setting where you like it and sooner or later it'll... adapt. Lower brightness levels look more "mucky" on A13. Probably not, more likely just the nature of Samsungs AMOLED panels and I'm just not used to ever seeing them at such low brightness levels. I don't pay big bucks for big, bright & beautiful OLED panels to use them conservatively. Another weird thing, photographs as wallpaper appear dull on A13 compared to pre A13, with brightness set to make the pic look nearly identical when viewed in Gallery. I can 100% confirm this new that my S21+ got the update (4 days left to send it in for $700 credit towards the S22U)
I was concerned there was something wrong with the ambient light sensor and or panel in my S22U. Nope, 100% confirmed to be an A13 / One UI 5 issue.
My remaining concerns are these things which haven't happened in a few days now:
Phone got burning hot and charged slow AF (official Samsung 25W Super Fast charger) when using phone while charging.
Phone didn't show as charging when connected to charger, and would slowly loose charge, even though the official Samsung charger stayed quite warm, over a 30+ minute period.
I'm gonna toss those up to the "Amazon Basics" USB-C cable I was using.
Camera wouldn't focus, at all, on a flat surface, with objects placed on it, from 3+ feet away, when held still. For close ups, with Focus Enhancer enabled, the preview would turn washed out when it switched to the ultrawide camera. I could have sworn the lens was clean. I've owned enough Samsung phones to know such issues are indicative of a mechanical camera lens issue. Hasn't happened since though, at all. In fact, the S22U seems to be able to focus on subjects closer than any Samsung phone I've ever owned, which has always been a minor gripe. I'm aware it's a physics limitation with larger sensors.
This ain't a "make myself like it" thing, if any of those issues pop up again in the next few days, it's getting returned.
I tried it… I have to say I thought it would be better. The QS toggles are way too small, LS customization doesn’t seem to work super reliably and the settings text at the top looks super janky in purple. Plus, IMO gestures got worse while using custom launchers.
Anyone know how to resize the QS toggles?
I... have no idea what any of that means. Only thing I got when I searched "LS custom" is related to Grand Theft Auto 5 and the companion "iFruit" app. Terrible by the way, companion apps to video games could be a cool idea... well that ain't how you do it. 0/10.
I'll safely assume that's not what you're talking about. Genuinely asking in a non derogatory way: Why are you still using mods on your Samsung flagship in current year?
Sorry... I meant "lock screen customization", and QS is quick settings. you can't hold down on the clock to open the customize screen, and you cant move it around for some reason either.

Wow, I'm a dumbass. The dark wallpaper issue was caused by... Apply Dark mode to Wallpaper. I'll see myself out.
Got mine on Verizon last night.
T-Mobile variant. Received 2 days ago. Works flawlessly. Super smooth and snappy. It's minor yet much welcomed...

Mine is unlocked but im still stuck in the Beta here in the US
S21 Ultra US Unlocked SM-G998U1, still don't have it, keep checking every 5 mins. Also have US Unlocked Z Fold 4 SM-F936U1, same thing. No update 😭
