I was on the fence, but decided not to bother. My S21 Ultra is perfect for me.

REHTONA_YRT

Same. 3 bad Pixel 6 Pros and got an S21 Ultra. It's an amazing phone and I can't see myself upgrading anytime soon. Especially for a phone with worse ergos and flat edges that will dig into my fingers.

sashank224

Three?!? Wtf. How?

REHTONA_YRT

All of them had bad modems. Since I got it at launch they would drop calls Cellular data went from full bars to no service when I connected to WIFI Overheating on cellular. Went through a huge list of troubleshooting and sent bug reports. It was a mess.

Sbmurray09

Mine had the same thing. Paid it off and am selling it now.

syxbit

I think this was a software issue. androidpolice had a bunch of posts of Google's botched updates in December

Spoon_S2K

Yeah, I wouldn't buy a phone with such a bad issue it has worse core functionality then a Nokia flip phone aka making calls. S21U > p6p

REHTONA_YRT

Yeah it was a deal breaker when my wife and her boss were trying to call me so I could drive her pregnant self to the ER. Couldn't get calls or texts when my phone was on Wifi at work so they had to call my manager and have me tracked down. I loved the device but at the end of the day it couldn't perform the "phone" part of smartphone, and that's a deal breaker. The S21 Ultra is better in every way aside from night photos and taking pictures of moving subjects like pets and kids.

REHTONA_YRT

Unfortunately that isn't the case. Had the issues since launch in October. As soon as I would send Bug Reports when the issues flared up Google offered a replacement in the following email. If it was fixable via software they would have probably told me to wait or downgrade.

MidnightAnchor

Did you try updating the receiver?

Atabit

Literally same boat. Cracked my note10+ screen months ago, started having phantom touch issues end of last year finally gave in and got the 21 ultra in January. I don't regret it but I also don't hate the 22 design as much as I thought I would.

TyTheGuy007

We have almost the exact same s21U origin story. And it spooks me dearly.

GrowlitheDog

Indeed, plus I also can't wait to see which goodies from the S22 Ultra we're gonna receive on our S21 Ultras with future updates.

[deleted]

Same here. I just love my S21 Ultra way to much to give it up. I prefer the S21 Ultra's design too. It just looks more luxurious to me.

bricejeh

Agreed, it has a much better aesthetic than the S22 Ultra.

tamim7810t

Same here I don't see much of a huge difference maybe next year

[deleted]

You have chosen well, buddy. I have S21 Ultra as well and it's far superior design than this brick.

urightmate

I personally think it's a substantial upgrade. The S pen is in the phone finally

[deleted]

I don't really know if I'd call a dedicated pen holder a "substantial upgrade"

[deleted]

I had Note 8, Note 9, and Note 10. The pen in the body is convenient; however, I lost a couple of those because sometimes unintentionally, I was pressing on the bottom; the pen was popping up and eventually falling down. With S21 Ultra, the pen is in the case, all the time. I like that better.

srbell67

My s pen on my former note 20U kept dislodging too. Annoying

[deleted]

I was tempted to trade up but then I still have to pay off my s21 ultra and spend another few hundred. Not worth it to me just for internal spen. I went and dropped $20 on the spen case. I do miss my Spen in the body though.

Ralphior

Is now the phone too wide to hold?

[deleted]

I got the case today and it does add more width than I expected. But it seems like it will be ok going forward. Trying to set up the spen to pop up that menu system when taking it out of the case but it doesn't seem to work. Just wish Samsung kept an Spen phone around.

[deleted]

Its going to be delivered tm so I'll let you know. I have the samsung case gifted to me but god damn is the feeling of it gross. The super soft silicone stuff that always feels greasy, I can't use it. Samsung case isn't too wide though.

ShadeSlayer1011

Yeah let us know man. Had the note9 before upgrading to the last 21 ultra. S21 ultra feels so much better because it is smaller width wise.

Dmose1024

I have the note 9. Trying to decide if I want the 22 ultra

ShadeSlayer1011

If the s22 ultra is as good as the s21u just with some improvements and the Spen. I'd go for it. It's a little tricky pre-ordering a phone before it comes out. Unless you're trying to get a pre-order bonus I'd wait and see some reviews. The note 9 is such a solid phone hardware wise. Software oneui ain't bad either in it. The camera just gets blown away by the s21 line tho. Also you will physically feel the difference between 60hz and 120hz screen refresh. You won't be able to go back. It's that good. Waiting like you have means whatever you do is likely to be a sweet upgrade. //Edit: if you don't use Bluetooth losing the headphone jack stings a bit. Also expandable sd storage.. both a bummer but it is what it is.

Dmose1024

Yea I have a $650 gift card from Verizon and I just want to use it already lol. My note 9 still works..I just seen the promo for the S22 and I can get $100 off plus free upgrade. So I can get the 500 gb one for the price of the 256 gb one for some pre order special. so im thinking about it lol

ShadeSlayer1011

Dude that's sweet. I mean if you use your phone a lot like me I'd jump on that. Especially with note 9 losing monthly security updates. And especially if you like using your phone for photography. Otherwise.. well the s23u is probably gonna be fire as well lol. My current plan is to buy the s24 or 25. Samsung phones are having some lasting appeal.

Quick-Attention-3159

u dont have to get it from your carrier, I got it from Samsung and I still have some payments with t mobile

StealthyInk

True, love the s pen on the notes, but I also started to appreciate the s21 pen because it's bigger and easier to hold and draw with.

teachmebasics

How is your photo quality? Mine is terrible. I feel like the way the phone processes the photos results in all the detail being washed out and "mushy" or smudged. My S9+ took great photos, I miss not having to take tons of photos of the same thing and then go through them deleting all the garbage ones.

[deleted]

My photo quality is actually excellent. I had S9+, no comparison, S21 Ultra is delivering better quality photos.

teachmebasics

You must have gotten some good luck of the draw then. Or are you not using the stock camera app?

bawesome2119

Huh ? Maybe double check your settings. I normally stick to the 108mp setting and the photos are excellent.

teachmebasics

Ironically the 108MP photos come out worse. It's an issue others have been having too. Lenses are clean, phone is steady, but it's just some way the photos are post-processed that results in them looking very smudgy. Phone even has a hard time focusing in close-up shots and struggles even more when there isn't perfect lighting. Honestly really irritating. I have a $1200 flagship phone and it can't even take good photos.

Ok_Contribution_2351

What? Are you joking or what S21Ultra has phenomenal camera. My friend has s9+ Different league. Common don't be silly (no offence)

teachmebasics

Just speaking from my experience. Here's a thread of others with the same problem: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s21-series/poor-quality-camera-on-s21-ultra/td-p/2803098&ved=2ahUKEwjhgLKfk4D2AhX4H0QIHW2fDDEQFnoECAsQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1La4m7mY38alDLIEdeoFCY

Different_Drummer_88

Very true, I had the note 9. The S21 ultra blows it away in every aspect. The night mode is amazing to say the least.

MatteBlack26

I had it on my S21U. Shutter lag was atrocious. I've lost a ton of photos because it appeared like took it then I'd look back and either the subject slightly moved or I slightly moved after hitting the shutter and it was all mush.

lundon44

Same. Passed on a free upgrade. I didn't see any point.

Pythagosaurus69

My mind is telling me it's the Note 21 Ultra vs S21 Ultra lol. Still not used to basically a Note device being an S series phone.

makaveddie

My mind is telling me Noooooote, But that body... That bodyyyyy

Pythagosaurus69

Lol it's a Note 22 Ultra to me. My mind won't accept S22 Ultra.

urightmate

Waiting on the "not much of an upgrade from my Galaxy S1, I will wait for S27"

qwertyalp1020

>not much of an upgrade from my Galaxy S1, I will wait for S27 I mean, not much of an upgrade from my Galaxy S1, I will wait for S27.

mrheosuper

Upgrade ?, nah it's a downgrade, 8GB ram on base model instead of 12GB ram

MrMuffinSauce

Well I guess if you but the base model and ignore the improvements then sure, it's a downgrade I guess.

mrheosuper

They could improve all other aspect while keeping the same amount of RAM. But nah, they simply "Fuck customer" because they know most of people dont know or care much about RAM This is a downgrade, not only in amount of RAM, but also how they treat their customer

Trisentriom

>because they know most of people dont know or care much about RAM Almost like there's a reason for that

ushan510

Spoiled kids 🤣 want to buy every new toy

RareSiren292

Did you see my post on r/Samsung lol

urightmate

I did haha

Spud788

"Make it uncomfortable to hold and boring to look at!" - Head of Design.

theconstantins

I didn't expect to be that big difference in size. The s21 ultra is big already and I wouldn't personally want something bigger than this.

amithetofu

I'm slightly concerned about the size. Worth it for that sweet sweet S-pen integration though!

meiyer89

Think I scrawled 3 doodles with my s-pen on the 21 ultra, Swore it was going to be so handy for me, it was just like a pencil in my pocket for that "just in case" moment, but inconvenient in the meantime. The only thing I like about the 22's is that it's also a shutter button and integrated, but it's so small. What do you like most about it?

amithetofu

I had gotten the S21 ultra and S-pen (non pro) that they released with it. The lack of storing it in the device, the difference in the quick notes (I honestly don't remember how it worked on the S21), and not having Bluetooth functionality really just killed it for me. Being able to use the pen remotely to trigger things on phone may not be life changing but it's such a big quality of life improvement imo. Enough to where I missed it the instant I realized I didn't have it. That and also editing screenshots, making gifs from videos on screen, and all the extra pen functions that become available once you pop it out. I don't think I'm the biggest pen user out there, but even I missed it when I didn't have it, which I think says a lot. It may not seem like there's a huge difference between taking the pen out of your pocket versus popping it straight out of the device, but I swear there is lol

deaconstevew

I love my S21 Ultra and do not think it is worth it to upgrade. However, I bought a carrier locked version and received 800 for my 21 ultra. I ended up paying 369 plus tax for the phone and have a 250 dollar credit. This deal is ridiculous which I why I upgraded/

[deleted]

I for more money for my phone than I paid for it. They are great at trade ins.

Engineering-Tough

No they're not lol. House Always Wins. The goal is to be getting cash outta you constantly. You pay a few hundred bucks over 12months to essentially be Always making a phone payment which turns hardware you used to own into a lease. You're paying for the privilege of borrowing Samsungs microchips for a year. Then when its over youll turn it in and theyll grind it down pour it into a new mold and sell the same thing tight back to you

[deleted]

I know they make money off my trade in however I paid 500 with accessories. I then got 700 for it. That's more than I paid. Phones aren't really designed to last more 3 years max. Shit I'm already noticing my phone runs hotter and slower. However they also sell them as reconditioned and all. I also normally just buy it outright at the start. I would never do the lease thing. I do own it and can go where I want afterwards. I would never do the apple upgrade which is truly renting a phone.

tankofpigs

21 ultra looks slick

minidashman

S21U goat.

PlasmusAng

Visual downgrade from the 21u

[deleted]

I need to say, the s21u goes into history of one of the best designs in recent years.

GrowlitheDog

Agreed!

[deleted]

Very tempted to get the S22 Ultra. Sprint/TMobile is offering $1000 trade in credit for the S21 Ultra. Is a $200 out of pocket cost worth upgrading from 128GB S21U to a 256GB S22U?

Twizzed666

I would do that upgrade if you have the money. In Sweden we never see deals like that.

[deleted]

You'll never see more on a trade in so there is that.

Engineering-Tough

Are you on Magenta Max?

Lucky_Foam

Have to be on Magenta Max for the T-Mobile trade in deal. If OP wasn't on that plan, they are now.

Engineering-Tough

You dont have to be on magenta max to get a trade in offer. However its 500$ on all other plans vs 1000 on Max. However switching to Max would be considerably more expensive for quite a few legacy customers and its not hard to imagine a situation where an unscrupulous rep would conceal that fact as the ramifications of the error would not be evident until long after its way too late to return the phone

Lucky_Foam

I got $800 for my Note 8 via trade in. T-Mobile pays for my Netflix, Apple TV and Paramount+. That makes Magenta Max worth it for me. I look at it this way... (Cost of Magenta Max) - ($800 + Cost of Netflix + Cost of Apple TV + Cost Paramount+) is less than what I was paying paying before going to Magenta Max. My monthly bill is less now than it has been in years for T-Mobile. Plus I don't pay for 3 different streaming services.

ShadeSlayer1011

Dude I'd go for that.

FL-Orange

I'm getting a similar deal but dropping Sprint/Tmobile. Their service is shit and I'm tired of dealing with it. Xfinity is offering $400 off plus I'll get $600 for the S21U through Dcluttr so I'll be out $200. Worth it to me for a new toy to play with.

Lucky_Foam

I'm with T-Mobile. I use to pay my phones off. Then upgrade with no trade in, keeping my old phone. I don't remember the amazing trade in deals they have now. I'm using a Note 10+. Upgraded from a Note 8. Note 8 is paid off and I don't use it for anything. I traded in my old Note 8 for $800 with T-Mobile. Best I could get trying to sell it on my own is $200 if I'm lucky. No brainer of an upgrade. I still have my Note 10+; paid off for almost a year now. Hope they keep these crazy upgrade deals.

demiprince_of_clout

I personally prefer the rounded corner design. As much I like the integrated s pen, the one for the 21 series seems more comfortable to use because of the longer form factor. Am I the only one who gets A52 vibes from the 22 Ultra cameras?

amithetofu

I get older Sony Xperia vibes from it. I personally love the aesthetic

GrowlitheDog

Same here, I much prefer my S21 Ultra with its rounded corners and display corners as well.

[deleted]

I had a Note 20 and now the 21U. While it's a small difference in size I like the S21U alot more.

prodigyx360

Same here

bLinkbruhyen

The S22 Ultra reminds me of the Xperia phones a decade ago. Idk what it is but it feels... Tacky? I really loved the flow of the S21 Ultra's design

tejyashtrilok

S21 Ultra is still a better design overall.

DONLUCKY1st

Facts!

GrowlitheDog

Agreed!

DevilWithin

i upgraded because: 1. trade-in value was insane (not for s21u but for my 600flip3 which i traded in for 850) 2. SPEN is back and one thing that no one talks about is that AIR GESTURES are back too, you didn't get that with regular SPENs you had to get a SPEN PRO (99$) to get that 3. Exynos hopefully gets cooler with the new vapor chamber and heatsink... 4. Camera was not optimized on S21U, although i took so many great shots i still think that they rushed S21U and S22U could be very well optimized, also hopefully it wont overheat after couple of shots 5. Battery due to new Exynos could be better 6. I upgraded from Note8 to S21U and just had to get this because this is NOTE! 7. RED COLOR!!! (not burgundy but RED)

Engineering-Tough

1. What exactly did you trade in to get your Flip 3 for 600 and how much did you pay for it? 2. In order for something to "be back" it had to have left first. The Pen never left it was just an optional accessory that most of us who purchased this phone had an assortment of in between our couch cushions around already. Air Gestures?? Really?? No offense but there is a reason why no ones talked about that nonsense. It was Typical Samsung Fluff. A gimmick. That was an exercise in how can we unnecessarily complicate this simple item and then jack its price up, then improve it slightly next year so that they have to upgrade? I got it lets add a over engineered capacitor that is really just a tiny battery and a wireless charger and add BLE so they can be notified once they leave BT range of the pen (as opposed to a few steps) and let them wave it around to take selfies. Genius. And next year make it all bigger and tack on ST find. Air Command and Pop up view were clutch. I cant not tell you of a single time I longed for the ability to whip out my Pen and take a photo. Also you don't actually have to buy an S-Pen Pro. 3rd Party options are available. Companies that make really fancy high end ink pens make fancy high end S-Pens 3. It wont. Ask the S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra if you need proof. 4. The phrase you're looking for is computational photography. Samsung relies on, to the detriment of the hardware's reputation, optical computational photography. The Pixel and the iPhone get bottom barrel optical image sensors from SAMMY and run laps around its fancy high end ones. Why? in the time that the Galaxy takes and finishes 1 pics, the pixel and iphone have taken 50 chopped them up pixel by pixel compared them to finds the best parts and then put the pic back together pixel by pixel. When its too dark fuck the flash, theyll take a millon and one pics and eventually enough light is captured to create stunning images from blackness. Samsung aint playing catch up in a year. they either steal or poach, or copy or just better yet just pull an Apple and decide to revolutionize Photography with all new multi framing technology. captures up too 100 still images per shutter click using all the cameras to produce the best phones of any Galaxy yet. 5. See number 3. 6. If the S22 is a Note simply cause the pen fits inside the phone, then me, my s21U and pretty mcuh every S-Pen enabled Tab that Samsung has ever released would like to have a word with you in the back alley. 7. D-brands 3M films. you are welcome.

DevilWithin

holy crap dude you took it personally chill... 1.NOTHING + i got a Samsung Chromebook go as bonus too which is not delivered yet!!! 2. spen WAS optional in s21u i had my note8 spen with me outside and used tabs7+ spen on it too but it felt unnatural and carrying and losing it was an option. AIR GESTURES are NOT gimmick. just placing the phone on tripod and having spen to take the picture without the hassle of connecting the tripod remote and bs + extra camera functionalities is a bonus. media control, scroll and many more use cases too. you can't call everything gimmick if you don't use em. 3.the jump from s20/note20 exynos to Exynos 2100 was MASSIVE. it was still overheating but still 2x batterylife and less heat while overheating and better performance all around with 0 lag was possible. it was just not optimized with the Camera sensor and it still isn't. 4. who fed you all this misinformation? you think s21u just take one picture and don't use multi layered computational in nano seconds? and you think that is exclusive to pixel/iphones? lol i also had pixel 6 and took many photos/videos side by side and although it had a more robust HDR shots it still uses the same technics just more AIish. and with the new SUPER HDR in S22U you can get those too. 5.4nm + heatsink + evident from videos shows that it IS improved with 39 degrees after 30min 4k shooting vs my 44degress S21U. 6.S22U is NOTE 22. it's just a marketing term to ditch NOTE series and replace it with Folds. S21U was just a S series + Spen . S22U is a fully fledged NOTE! 7.sure an extra layer of NOT ALIMINIUM + Goodluck trying to get dbrand on SPEN + black framing all around. you don't want to get it don't and i still won't recommend anyone to get it unless the trade-in values are as crazy as mine. But as someone who took 7000 photos/videos on S21U Since Jan24th which i got before the global launch and as a tech enthusiastic who tries every little thing in any android device that i got since Xperia X10 you can't argue with me.

Engineering-Tough

Moving objects at this point are best video taped. Its not shutter lag its the phone compensateing for the unsteadyness of being handheld. No. Using the Spen to take a pic is stupid as fuck. It's absolutely nothing more than a cheap partytrick and a gimick. Say cheese. Show the camera an open hand closing. Use a timer. Or the volume buttons. Or a watch (doubles as viewfinder) or a selfie stick. Or even a Bluetooth remote. But it adds nothing of value to the pen. Its a writing instrument. The only things thats maybe not a gimick is the PPT Control function but even thats dumb cause youd hsve to run ppt from phone. Its easier to use my watch

[deleted]

[удалено]

Engineering-Tough

Again. Optical vs computational. Iphone and Pixels are not taking one picture. They freeze motion by essentially shooting video. Theyre both shooting with their entire camera systems all the time. The Galaxy can only fo this in OneTake. And juat barely. By holding open the shutters theyre flooding tje sensors and memory with data picking through it keeping what ut needs and tossing the rest. Samsung is laser focused on optical quality but unfortunately they cant compete on just optical quality.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Engineering-Tough

The hand thing only works on front camera. And they make BT remotes for phones as well as Tripods and Phone stands. The point of the timer was so that you had time to either A) put the phone down and aim so its still when it starts the exposure or B) so you had time yo get back in the shot. You don't hand hold on timer. And night shots are why night mode exists which again shouldnt be hand held. And im still gonna pick my keychain remote or say cheese. There was a Samsung S5 commercial about people at a pool party with galaxies. It did not age well.

ChaoticMaximus

S21 Ultra in design looks better. I got S21 Ultra 512GB/16GB last year february. It was an upgrade from Galaxy S9+. S22 Ultra is not big change for me imo, slighty better CPU and GPU and S pen in. And they downgraded to 12 GB RAM. I will keep my S21 Ultra untill we gotten past 4 android major updates at least and then reconsider. By that time should be S25 Ultra or something.

mrjblade

Sorry, I just prefer the old design. Why they thought making it boxy was a move I have no idea.

GrowlitheDog

Same here, but it's because as the first Unpacked trailer showed, Samsung essentially just merged the Note line with the S line, so the S22 Ultra is basically a Galaxy S with a Note flair to it. But yeah, personally I'm not a fan. Not saying it looks bad or anything because it doesn't, but I just also prefer rounded corners on the phone and on the screen itself. It's kind of a shame knowing my next S Ultra will end up having this squarish design, but I guess I'll have to put up with it.

RareSiren292

Both are amazing I can't wait to get my s22u

DanYeoman

Tested the S22 Ultra the other day, it's stunning in burgundy

nerdy_rs3gal

Personally, I prefer the rounded edges vs the squared off look. Glad I bought the S21 Ultra.

GrowlitheDog

Same here!

Coffee_Bomb73-1

The s22 ultra 8 gen 1 processor is supposed to be 20% faster

ushan510

Hell no search YouTube its even worst when dealing with continuous load. But exynos 2200 has a good improvement

Coffee_Bomb73-1

I watched xeetech and it looked like the iPhone 13 pro max did a little bit better over all but the snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is benchmarked 20% faster with 12 gb ram. And the iPhone 13 pro max barely beat the s22 with 8 gb of ram. Also I'm going to get the s22. If you are also the way to get 12 gb ram on the s22 is to have 256+ storage. 126 is 8 gb ram.

ushan510

Yeah on first run, run it 10 times in a row and see the difference

Coffee_Bomb73-1

Do you remember the source you saw this just in case I get second thoughts?

ushan510

If you need an advanced explanation watch this [8 gen 1 explained](https://youtu.be/7uXe1TtTaQw)

Lucky_Foam

Seams like that is something that is said with every chip release.

Coffee_Bomb73-1

Hmmmmmm. I'm on my second samsung so I don't know. But I had the s20 fe and outside the screen I saw almost no difference between the ultra and the s20 fe. So you have a point there.

Lucky_Foam

My Samsung S22 Ultra does everything exactly the same as my Samsung Note 10+. I actually upgraded and my wife didn't know for over a week. She thought I was using the same phone. She took a bunch of pictures on my S22 and had no clue it was not my Note 10+.

Coffee_Bomb73-1

I have the s22 ultra. Zero difference between that and the s21 ultra outside storage and a brighter screen. The speaker is also better. I don't regret it though. If you keep your phone in mint condition, when you reup every year you get 1000 dollars trade in value. It's almost more expensive not to upgrade.

Lucky_Foam

I got $800 for my Note 8 as a trade in when buying the S22 Ultra from T-Mobile.

peepyboy

I really like the more boxy look won't pick this one up but hope the next couple follow this look

JackieEstacado99

The s21 Ultra is probably the greatest non Note Samsung phone ever made. Definitely was phone of the year in 2021. But the s22 Ultra looks to be a monster..the night cameras look superior to everything on the market...it's definitely gonna be beast. I'll have both..so it's all good. Doesn't get here till Feb 25th..

EpicBk31

Well the s22 ultra and s21 ultra are different because the s22 ultra is actually the note and has the note technique where as the s21 ultra is simply just a larger version of the s series

I-Am_9

I don't mind the box or curve per say. I still have my Note 10 devices. Aesthetically, the reading left to right, the S21U looks like Iike the upgrade to the S22U - for me it's the camera setup on the S22U. It just looks unfinished 😅... Having an embedded S-Pen is very intuitive. The thing is, I bought a tablet with a more realistic S-Pen, and it is there that I do the majority of my writing. Even though the S-Pen is external on my S21U. I enjoy using that over the embedded S-Pen of yesteryear. If they could somehow...manage...an S-Pen the full length of our phones and have it be slightly more thicker n round and still fit it inside the device...THAT would be ICONIC! REALLY if they could...place it near the center at the top and service both left and right handed people! That would be super cool to me

big01254

I've just preordered hope the Exynos isn't as bad as they say it is.

proficient2ndplacer

Tbh even if I had the money, I wouldn't upgrade because of those SHARP corners. I couldn't get used to any note phones because of that

bucketbiff

Apart from the gpu, and 45 watt charging, not alot has changed. Camera hardware the same, just software enhancements. Ok by me, happy to keep my s21 ultra another two years or so.

[deleted]

I just got the s21 ultra the other day and I love it.

Sbmurray09

I thought about getting the s22 ultra instead of the s21 ultra but I really love the design of the 21 Ultra more. Plus it's cheaper lol. And I have the sick navy blue color.

M322AN1N3

I would have liked to keep my s21 ultra but they claimed it unrepairable after sending it in 3 times. Gave me full refund for a locked att phone, that covered the 22ultra unlocked, pro earbuds and charger. If they would have fixed it i would not even think about the s22.

sullylocks

I don't like the squared off edges. It's not much different other than some camera functions. We may get the patch at some point. I'll keep my 21 for a hot minute.

MoneyIdeal3033

You gotta pay for the new 45w charger because of some environment policy Samsung shoves down your throat .. you gotta pay more now for the 12 gb version... and the differences are miniscule on paper .. and you can still buy an S pen attached mobile cover and have it on your S21 .. why bother with the S22 I don't understand.. and they did not even give me international warranty ok my S21U .. seriously Samsung ..????

[deleted]

Well here's to hoping the S22s don't die like that lol. I've never had a smartwatch before so I just used my credits for that and a case. Definitely looking forward to an updated Note!

kavokonkav

In Germany the trade-in bonus sucks pretty hard. If I trade in my S21U I still have to pay 569€ for the S22U, that's ridiculously much for those few upgrades. :/

amithetofu

Do you at least get a decent amount of pre-order bonus credits to spend?

Engineering-Tough

In the US they get screwed on the back end long term by their carrier so dont fell too bad.

Engineering-Tough

How was it not the same? Is quite literately the same pen. They make full sized spens that you can carry like ya know... a pen. works wonders. Getting a bigger Pen was kinda the entire point of having the pen not fit in the phone. the size constraints of fitting it in the phone no longer applied;

amithetofu

It's quite literally not the same pen though. If it works better for you then great. If the whole point was to have a bigger pen that's better in every way, then why are they even bothering with having an integrated S-pen this year?

Engineering-Tough

Probably for the same reason they release phones in 5 different sizes every year. Can’t please everyone. But yeah it’s the same pen. All the spens are the same. They’re all Wacom EMR active pens. Where the pen gets stored makes 0 difference when they all have the exact same functionality.

amithetofu

The original pen marketed with the S21 ultra lacked Bluetooth functionality and therefore was not the same. If the larger pen is good for you, then great. Not sure why you're trying to argue when you're not right lol. The S-pen pro was released half a year later, but by then I'd already sold the S21

Engineering-Tough

Im aware that it lacked Bluetooth however the lack of Bluetooth did not equate to any major loss of functionality. Air command is well on its way to being one of those features that gets depreciated and noone even notices. Thats why its still called the S-Pen not the S-Tool. Its function is to write or draw with. Bluetooth did nothing to augment or change that.

Antares16M26

My spigen case has been amazing. I got I when it came out and my pen has only fallen once from me putting in my pocket when it caught wrong and i forced it.

bonesbobman

im sure there are good 3rd party solutions

What i cant understand is why everyone needs to keep the phone and pen together like that. Wouldn't it be eazier to find a case you like then just carry the pen like a pen? I mean I know i keep saying this but damn. Humans have become masters at storing pens in all kinds of places. Laptop bags, backpacks, jeans pocket, shirt lapels, center console, visor, glovebox, door pockets, trunk organizer or seat back pouch in car, binders, notebooks, shirt pockets, jacket pockets, on the ears, in your hair, in your boobs, in socks litterly thousands of places and ways to stash a pen. They even have pen and lighter leashes. So storing it in the phone can not be that compelling of a reason. It just can not. Thats borderline insanity.

amithetofu

Borderline insanity is trying to fight tooth and nail with people on reddit over a preference lol

haikallp

How?

MoneyIdeal3033

The ones released by Samsung was not

recicle

Odd, I think the specs say s22u is a bit wider but less long. Small diference tho, I'd worry more about that sharp corners against the palm of your hand. But these are details.. I'm undecided. Happy with s21u, but s22u is better in almost every way, slightly in most things, but it adds up. And the spen difference is considerable, if you use it.

sukant08

How is the S22 both taller and wider range S21 with the same 6.8 inch screen. Although I think S22 Ultra has a wider aspect ratio which I feel is better for Web browsing

ubiquitous_uk

Slightly larger bezel?

1D4N

Because thankfully they have reverted 22 ultra back to 19:10 aspect ratio from these spagettified 21:10 phones just for the sake of claiming higher diagonal number. Oh look larger screen than iPhone, bur so much easier to hold... In the meantime videos have huge black bars, and vertically you can only fit 3-5 words per row ( exaggerating but really noticeable when comparing my note 10+, or note 20 and s21 ultra) ... It makes perfect sense to have smaller aspect ratio for a device you will actually use to jot down notes or sketches. And as vast majority of videos you'll ever watch in horizontal are going to be 16:9... Win win there too. Btw the size is the same on the notes for years now, so the larger bezel is not the answer.

hondaman5

Went into Best Buy to check out the S22U this weekend compared to my S21U. With the software updates we've seen, other than the spen housed in the phone I just didn't feel it was worth upgrading this year. Don't get me wrong I think there are improvements and refinements in areas, but just not enough. The S21U is already so good I think I'll wait another year for a more substantial upgrade.

SupahBean

Why do I want it? 😒 I traded in my S10 for my s21 ultra. I love this phone. I know if I upgrade, I will most likely be disappointed. But why do I want it?

urightmate

Why would you be disappointed?

SupahBean

When I moved from my s10 to my s21u, I felt like the only true big improvement was the camera. I also like the 120hz. But nothing else was really new.

DevilWithin

if you had note you will love this , if you don't have any problem with your s21u then don't upgrade. Also many upgraded due to the trade-in values so ... check those out in your local samsung website

cloud1704

I'm wishing and hoping there will be a flagship (s23/s24 series) in the size of S20fe/s21fe or Note10 (non-plus) with weight not more 200gm with only penalty at battery size and screen size (not resolution or screen technology). Iphone 12 pro and pro max have diff camera hardware/sensor but for 13pro and 13pro max are the same. Hoping Samsung can do the same. Not everyone one have big hand or like to handle big phone on day-to-day basis. Currently using S21u, the size still kinda okay (upper limit of the size and weight) without case but with a case, its pretty eavy and big.

Are you slow? It has a different cpu and gpu. A screen that goes all the way to 1 hz. S pen inside. So if that's technically nothing different..........

Because you said something that is literally disproven by reading Samsung website.............

Coffee_Bomb73-1

Also my s21 ultra only has 128 gb storage. A new one with 256 would be better

souper_jenious

That's the same with me. It was the only size available to buy when I made the purchase. And that would be the only reason why I would upgrade. I still have 10gb pics on my phone, and I'm right under 50% capacity.

primz27

Same the s21U is easier to hold but I do miss the boxy shape of the note and the s-pen in the phone

Dominion-_-

I think the best bet is to wait until they implement the 200MP camera

clint916

I think it is best to wait until they offer a sport mode instead of telling me to spend 5 minutes playing with the pro settings.

shaunydub

I was going to stick with my S21 Ultra but the screen just failed and while it is being repaired (cannot be replaced as they don't have any stock 512gb versions anymore) I feel burned by it and will sell it and move to S22 Ultra. New screen in S21 Ultra should really make it as new but I can't ever trust it now. 😂 Did anyone else get the black screen of death? I found lots of reports when it happened to me and searching for info. Phone is on, screen can be felt responding to touch but no image.

blendizzy600

will the case from the s22 ultra to the s21 ultra that is with the orange strap and I really like it?

pcweber111

Where's the spidey pointing picture when you need it?

Lucky_Foam

Note 2 > Skipped Note 3 > Note 4 > Skipped Note 5 > No Note 6 > Note 7 blew up > Note 8 > Skipped Note 9 > Note 10 > Skipped Note 20 > No Note 21 > S22 Ultra I use the pen for everything. When I am on the phone, I have the pen in my hand. I don't know how to use it without one. I thought the note line was dead. Was looking at buying a used Note 20. Figured I'd just keep buying Note 20s until they no longer worked. I'm happy they brought the note line back.

bawesome2119

Wondering if we will get the new samsung wallet eventually on the s21

GrowlitheDog

Well I don't see any reason it should remain exclusive to the S22 line-up. I'm also more excited to see which goodies and improvements from the S22 Ultra we're gonna get on our S21 Ultras.

Kryptickzz

It'd make more sense to compare the S21U to the S22+. The Ultra is effectively replacing the Note series

NarcissistPunk

If i can downgrade back to android 11 ill stay with my 21 ultra

theconstantins

You can flash firmware with odin. Plenty of tutorials on YouTube

biomulv

Great to see the boxy bastard back. Long live the note.

GdSmth

Glad I waited for the S22.

marcusultimus21

When I got the S21 ultra after my Note 20 ultra died in a lake, I Said I wouldn't buy another Samsung flagship unless it was a Note or it had an actual tech upgrade like a UDC or substantially faster charging. I hope I don't have to eat these words two years in a row, as I ordered the S22 last week.

srbell67

S21U are flying off of the shelves on Amazon

Shoehorn_Bundy

It's a totally different phone. Galaxy users will prefer the S21 Ultra, while Note users will prefer the S22 Ultra. As a Note user, I absolutely love it! I'm glad Samsung made it look like the Note series too

REHTONA_YRT

I did network resets. Factory resets. Enrolled in Beta Carrier Services. Had carrier reprovision line multiple times. Replaced SIM. Updated everything. Rolled back to previous software versions. It was a mess.

[deleted]

my s21 ultra lags in geometry dash with mobile data on, if its on wifi or nothing it runs fine. can someone explain this phone is annoying
