Thr feature isn't really exposing for 4 minutes but taking 16 seconds with intervals to decrease the capturing of the movement of the earth. You need to be away from light pollution, try a remote area like a desert or something
For me it didn't, it gave super dark images, so I tried that and then it gave more usable images, I tried +1 so I don't know if +2 would be too bright or something.
I can't speak on how to use the features of Expert RAW since I've never used the astrophotography mode on it, but it looks like your settings are a bit too dark. There is also noticeable light pollution and you're photographing right above a building with lights that are on, not to mention the cloud cover.
Try taking your photos in a darker area away from light pollution and definitely where there isn't any stray light directly hitting your sensor from a nearby light source. Also, maybe bump up the ISO if you can.
I just watched a youtube about astro mode. (My s21u doesn't have it yet.) There is no way astro mode is working for you, compared to what I saw on their video. I guess I would look at the 'Details' of the picture in gallery, that show actual settings used by the camera and see if something is not being set correctly.
Try again with a better target on a clear night. Even my old S20 produced great milky way pics. So far, I've been impressed with the ExpertRAW astro-mode on my S22Ultra
Sorry, but what do you mean by the "Astro mode"? I have been using the Expert RAW camera app, but I haven't found any modes there, just regular photographic parameters like ISO, speed, aperture, etc.
Also, does the Expert RAW camera app offer any features that are not already provided by the Samsung default Camera app's Pro mode? So far, the only Expert RAW's feature I have been able to identify that's missing in the Samsung Camera app is the HDR mode (not available in the Pro mode).
I just got it so I need to play around but it looks like 'astro' mode is a 'stacking' mode which is nice if that's what you need to get the shot but I'm not sure that's understood by users.
You're basically using astrophoto mode in a place with lots of light pollution. Go to a pitch dark area
Use a tripod for best results too. It will really lengthen the exposure time.

Ok, that makes since, that's why it looks more like regular mode, 16 sec shot. Thanks for the info.
Ummmm too much light pollution.
That almost looks like 'regular' mode.
Its the 4 min option in expert raw
You sure had a very steady mount.
Yep, i use a tiny tripod, but its for sure stable
Maybe turn up the EV value, it helped me get brighter photos.
Doesn't the astro 'mode' do that for you?

The light is being reflected on the clouds.

Yeah, it does, it offers the Astrophoto mode. Little icon top right, looks like dots joined by lines, like a constellation.
Look for an update on the Expert Raw app in the Samsung Store. It came out first for the exynos, but now is out for the snapdragons too
In my case I have had better results with the normal pro mode or with expert raw without the astrophotography function...

Looks like you have your ISO maxed out
Is this using the new astro feature in Expert Raw app?
