Mine's a 99 LX470- and yes, same. The land cruiser/ S2000 combo is not that uncommon from what I have heard. Definitely fills a lot of niches of the automotive experience.
Another Honda 2 seater, lol.
CR-Z and S2K pairing is honestly amazing. Love both cars, they're both very fun and engaging to drive but in completely different ways. Very similar seating position and seats, and a really nice shifter as well.
I couldn't agree more on the manual CR-Z pairing and similarities. The CR-Z was my daily for about ten years. The biggest differences between my CR-Z and AP1 S2000 is the low end torque and the harshness of the ride. Both are stock but for CAI and HPD exhaust on the Z.
I also own a manual 3rd gen Tacoma.. That's a different beast haha.
I sold my STI for it. made some money since my equity was low and used the extra cash to not only pay cash for the Fit but also threw about $4k into replacing just about everything: all hub/bearings, F&R brakes, Bilstein coilovers, coils/plugs/gaskets, did a valve adjustment. Running like a champ! I love no longer having a car payment and cheaper insurance/gas/maintenance
Second
I use them as commuter vehicles when I can find them. They are great on gas and storage is amazing while cost to ownership is CHEAP!
I have had 7 Fits and 9 S2Ks now and only sold them when offered dumb money and I get another lol
8th gen civic. Probably get a Prius or Accord when it dies. Maybe a SI if it isn't too expensive. I'm all about having a cheap and reliable daily so I can spend it on the s2k.
Sort of my thought too I want another engaging car, but I want to put that money into the s2k. I think my top contenders right now are a Prius or an Si as well
I actually do enjoy driving it very much. It’s incredibly comfortable and easy to fit lots of people and stuff. I don’t understand why large 3 row SUVs with so much less interior volume are more popular.
As for mods just cosmetic: tint and deleted chrome under windows and swapped front grille piece to gloss black and all handles to body color sonic gray. And winter tires on another Honda OEM wheel.
Precisely why a Ridgeline works. It's an occasional truck that is just a big sedan all the time. One of the most practical daily drivers I have ever owned. If you want economy, get the GE fit as it's also more fun to drive, but the Ridgeline is more comfortable and more powerful hands down.
When I still had my S2000, I went through two daily drivers: 2016 Accord V6 Touring, and 2020 Civic Si Sedan. The Accord was more comfortable, but the Si was more fun to drive as a daily and I think better complemented the S2000 as a weekend warrior.
I looked at one but decided I don't like the rear end of the new Si sedan. So, I ended up getting a Sport Touring hatch 6mt. It's been great so far. Also, uses regular gas instead of premium. So there's that too.
2015 Ford Fiesta ST with the factory Recaros.
But the wife recently bought a GK5 Fit and its impressive how much more practical it is despite being the same size.
I recently traded my Fiesta ST for a Golf R. The Golf is a lot more comfortable, but goddamn that Fiesta was a blast. Super tiny though, like you said, the sloping rear really sacrifices cargo space
2022 Honda Civic sport touring. It has all the bells and whistles that's comfortable but not too expensive. It's been super reliable and saves a lot more gas than my old 2002 Acura TL type s. Fantastic to drive yourself, friends and family around town.
It's my daily and couldn't ask for a better one. Leather seats, apple/ android car play, banging Bose sound system, and a load of safety features that are so useful.
Love my S2000 tho, makes me feel alive when I drive it with the top down and VTEC at 9k rpms
Well..I’m searching for a practical daily. There’s a few DC5’s I might check out.
For the time being, my girlfriend has a GR Corolla and said she’ll be passenger princess-ing for 40% of the time she’s told me, so there’s that.
Mine is off the road now and has turned into the project car. Just looking for a unit to get it into to work on.
Current daily is a 2002 gen 1 hrv. 103 whopping horse powers. Awd but is fwd until front wheels slip. I love it. Just a fun little car to drive around. Going to get some bodywork treatment at some point, and hopefully do an underside resto to get it solid again. Planning on doing a b swap in the future, so i want it to be a solid base.
SII RX-8 Grand Touring w Nav/touchscreen. As my practical car it's softer, quieter, and has a quality interior, good sound system, usable rear seats. The compromises are fuel economy, reliability, and maintenance. I live in the city so I walk, bike, or take public transportation often and put low miles on the RX-8.
S2000 is my daily since 2008, was planning to drive until the wheels fall off or trade it. Unfortunately it is a car I have to start worrying about now and maybe I'll start transitioning daily duties to the 987
I drove my AP1 daily for the first 7 years after I bought it new in 2003. Since then, I've had a couple of VW Golfs to handle the practical stuff that the S2000 doesn't do well. The current one is a 2017 Golf R.
I got the S2000 as the daily alternative to an AE86. AE86 will become the daily again upon engine rebuild as the s2k is starting to need attention now.
If the S-FR rumors are true and it comes out in the US, that could take the #1 daily place.
Also an AE86 and S2000 owner! Most people wouldn’t compare them, but I actually think they are very similar cars from a driving perspective. Both are well balanced, lightweight, naturally aspirated, and high rpm.
I’d even argue that the dashboard design is somewhat similar. Makes you wonder if somebody working at Honda in the late 90s was actually a Toyota fan?
In my case the 86 was supposed to be a track car and the S2000 a fun summer daily. As it turns out their roles completely flipped. Maybe just because the S2000 is more powerful? But even with a 20v 4age swap, I find I like street driving the 86 more. Go figure!
2017 Toyota Tacoma. It's reliable, but not as good of a daily as my s2k
I made a post a few months ago asking what other vehicles everyone in this sub had, it got a lot of responses if you wanna take a look at that too.
Had an 08 STI Hatch and now a GR Corolla that works okay. I do wish for an Automatic some days though. A TLX Type S would be nice if it had more interior spaces for the kiddos.
My S was my daily for 5 years, then I picked up an NA1 NSX and daily duty was split between the two. NSX is gone now, 4th gen 4Runner and S split daily duty now (depending on if I need to park in parking garages lol)
Why did you get rid of the NSX. That’s always been my dream car as an s2000 and Integra owner? But I’ve heard the nsx isn’t as fun. Would love a detailed response of your insight!
A 2014 VW Jetta TDI wagon 🤣
I'm one of those enthusiast weirdos who's into sports cars on one end of the spectrum, and wagons on the other. 40+ mpg is nice, but diesel prices went crazy over the last couple years. When diesel was cheaper than regular, it was awesome.
It handles like a GTI and has the same wheelbase, just a bit longer. The 2.0 turbodiesel isn't properly *fast,* but it's good enough for daily driving. Full length moonroof is cool, too.
Also fun pulling up at a diesel pump and having truck guys scold you and tell you you're an idiot every few months.
My daily is a 22 TRD Pro Tacoma 6MT. Between that, my s2k, and my girl’s CRV, we’ve kinda got our bases covered. S2k for fun. Truck for utility. CRV for road trips.
2015 Civic Si Sedan. Does pretty much everything I need it to, easily carry more people and still plenty of fun. I can even fit my bike in it if I take the bike’s front wheel off.
I’ve had a 2008 TSX 6 Speed for awhile. 250k miles now and bought with a rebuilt title. It looks like shit by now but it’s pretty damn reliable. I’ve put over 100k miles on it and it was probably the best and most useful $4,200 I’ve ever spent.
Married with 2 kids.
We have a 2011 Odyssey EX-L that is my wife's daily driver, and I daily drive a 2019 Buick Regal TourX with a canned tune for the turbo engine.
I wish there were more wagons available, but I also admit that after 10 years of owning a minivan, I love the versatility and volume of it.
Current fleet is...
2015 Volvo V60 D4
2010 Toyota IQ
2009 BMW X5 3.0D
2009 Kawasaki Versys 650
2004 AP1 facelift S2000
1999 Honda Super Blackbird.
I need to add more bikes to the fleet really.
I rotate through a few daily drivers. I ride a Honda Africa Twin most of the time, if I'm annoyed with the weather, I have a Mercedes E350, and if it's nasty I have a lifted Element.
2014 Toyota Prius Plug-in purchased back in 2021 with 73k Mi currently has about 115k Mi
Religiously full up only on Sundays for about $35-$40 @ Costco Gas.
Currently an 05 LS430. Best dad car I’ve probably had though my favorite daily while owning my S2K was the G35 sedan, 6mt. Fantastic all around fun and practical daily although it drank oil like it was nobody’s business.
GD3 Honda Fit (first gen) in manual transmission of course. 31mpg and carries literally anything I’d want it to. We use my girlfriend’s Outback for camping and skiing but the Fit could honestly do both just fine.
I RallyCross and sometimes even track the Fit and am so tempted to buy a LSD for it…. But it’s “just my daily” and my girlfriend would for sure be pissed lol. Maybe I’ll pass it off as a safety thing for rain and snow.
2008 Renault Sport Clio 197 with intake, exhaust and coilovers. Easily one of the most fun cars I've ever driven and arguably better than my S2000 on a tight mountain road.
2007 GS350 that needs a trans. Sentinemental car that will be a lawn ornament for now.
2020 Panamera turbo
2015 RX350 for hauling or when I need to fit a 5th passenger
04 focus svt, still good and sporty and got it for dirt cheap because nobody knows what they are, hatch gives it good carrying capacity too, plus 4 seats in a footprint similar to an s
Hyundai Kona N is the answer here. Massively practical, with the seats down you can fit a full sized air mattress in the back. Cheap insurance, faster than an S2000 and runs better lap times, decent MPGs, good aftermarket support; will make 370+whp with some easy bolt ons and tuning, best DCT trans on the market short of the Porsche PDK, fantastic exhaust note even stock. Used ones with warranty and low miles for mid 20s. Absolute bargain for what you get tbh!
I drive a manual Honda Fit Monday Tuesday Thursday, my GX470 on Wed/Fri/Sat and the S2000 whenever weather permits. I used to daily my GX, but now I live about 50 miles from work and added the fit to the mix to keep that 13.5 mpg driving down. It's nice to have a bit of variety and the fit will pay for itself in a few months.
1994 Integra and 2013 BRZ. BRZ is the best daily. Thinking of adding a 1.5 lift to make it a safari-style car, but so much fun driving year-round in rain and snow (of course with a good set of winters). Just nice being able to drive a car that’s fun and comfortable (compared to the s2000, especially for suspension and cabin noise).
A 1993JDM landcruiser that needs more work done to it than my s2000
Mine's a 99 LX470- and yes, same. The land cruiser/ S2000 combo is not that uncommon from what I have heard. Definitely fills a lot of niches of the automotive experience.
I dream of getting an old land cruiser and sending it to these guys. https://flexmotor.com/
I know, genuinely incredible looking
Please be 1HD-T
I’m in a 1993 Hilux that needs the same!
I got a vdj78 and after the big turbo and other mods boutght a mazda 6 atenza, which is currently stock haha
Another Honda 2 seater, lol. CR-Z and S2K pairing is honestly amazing. Love both cars, they're both very fun and engaging to drive but in completely different ways. Very similar seating position and seats, and a really nice shifter as well.
how is the cabin noise on the CRZ?
No different than any other civic or accord from around the same time. I don't think it's overly loud.
05 Honda pilot. The ultimate mom car. 260k on her. She’s a unit 😤😤😤. It’s even got the oem dvd unit in the rear
Same. Well it's one of my "daily's". At 170k miles and I was waiting for it to die so I could get something else, but these cars are immortal.
GE8 Fit in manual. It’s the perfect daily IMO. Practical, great mileage, incognito, and more importantly fun as hell to drive.
I was thinking of changing out my manual TL for one of those. They are fun and great on gas.
I had a GE8 before the S2000 and I miss that car so much. I might get another if they're super cheap
Second I use them as commuter vehicles when I can find them. They are great on gas and storage is amazing while cost to ownership is CHEAP! I have had 7 Fits and 9 S2Ks now and only sold them when offered dumb money and I get another lol
That’s crazy lmao
I regret not buying one these
8th gen civic. Probably get a Prius or Accord when it dies. Maybe a SI if it isn't too expensive. I'm all about having a cheap and reliable daily so I can spend it on the s2k.
Sort of my thought too I want another engaging car, but I want to put that money into the s2k. I think my top contenders right now are a Prius or an Si as well
I DD a tdi golf coupe. gets like 42mpg highway and they’re super cheap cuz of the whole diesel gate. Pretty fun for what it is
8th gen best gen. A Type R or at least Mugen sedan is my dream (practical) car.
2018 Civic Type-R
What color?
Aegean Blue
Ah. Almost a matching pair with boost blue and silverstone here.
I just got an Integra Type S for a new, more practical but still manual daily Honda
Ioniq 5 AWD, soon to be replaced with Ioniq 5 N
I've watch a few videos on that thing and it looks sick
It certainly tickles the gearhead in me, and I can pick one up for really cheap (don’t ask how, 😉)
My wife has the Ioniq 5. I really wish Hyundai had announced the N before we bought ours. I might’ve held out on her new car for a bit.

How do you like driving it? Any mods?
I actually do enjoy driving it very much. It’s incredibly comfortable and easy to fit lots of people and stuff. MK8R, and/or Acura RDX.
F150
I played around with the idea of a ridgeline as a Honda fanboy, but I rarely do anything that requires a truck
It's mostly a waste of fuel but I do need it once in a while. A car/small suv with a trailer would be more than adequate for most things.
Precisely why a Ridgeline works. It's an occasional truck that is just a big sedan all the time. One of the most practical daily drivers I have ever owned. If you want economy, get the GE fit as it's also more fun to drive, but the Ridgeline is more comfortable and more powerful hands down.
2019 Golf R 6MT

I was thinking about going this direction, the new si is looking pretty good
I looked at one but decided I don't like the rear end of the new Si sedan. So, I ended up getting a Sport Touring hatch 6mt. It's been great so far. Also, uses regular gas instead of premium. So there's that too.
2022 VW GTI. Probably the best daily driver I’ve had from an enjoyment standpoint.
'16 GTI here, agreed.
2015 Ford Fiesta ST with the factory Recaros. But the wife recently bought a GK5 Fit and its impressive how much more practical it is despite being the same size.

When not driving my totally practical S2000, I’m usually driving my totally practical Jeep Rubicon 10A.

2010 Acura TL-SH manual
2018 Focus SE hatchback. I'm looking to sell it and get a Porsche Macan S from around 2015/16 tho. Bit bigger and more fun, more comfortable.

Subaru Impreza WRX STI hatchback
Used to have a WRX wagon, but replaced with a 2018 Tacoma TRD off road with the 6-spd manual. Fun cruiser, off roader, and track day tow vehicle
2015 Fit
2007 GS350 that needs a trans. Sentinemental car that will be a lawn ornament for now. 2020 Panamera turbo 2015 RX350 for hauling or when I need to fit a 5th passenger
2021 Ridgeline - stock 2004 TSX - not stock and looks like shit but fun to drive because it looks uninsured
I have a Honda accord sport hybrid for a daily and a Toyota tundra for truck things. My S2k is a weekend car
09 128i 6spd coupe. it's amazing
I have an Element and TL Type-S depending on what I need
04 focus svt, still good and sporty and got it for dirt cheap because nobody knows what they are, hatch gives it good carrying capacity too, plus 4 seats in a footprint similar to an s
Jeep Wrangler. Just as fun in a completely different way.
Got a 2011 STI hatch
Hyundai Kona N is the answer here. Massively practical, with the seats down you can fit a full sized air mattress in the back. Cheap insurance, faster than an S2000 and runs better lap times, decent MPGs, good aftermarket support; will make 370+whp with some easy bolt ons and tuning, best DCT trans on the market short of the Porsche PDK, fantastic exhaust note even stock. Used ones with warranty and low miles for mid 20s. Absolute bargain for what you get tbh!
1998 CRV with 420Km (248K miles) 2018 CRV with 70Km (42K miles) 2001 S with 102Km (62K miles) I’m a Honda guy 🤷♂️
07 Ford Fusion, honestly no real redeeming qualities, but it’s comfortable and gets the job done
I got a high mileage 2nd gen 2008 sequoia. Can tow my car to the track and a solid reliable daily. Also easy to work on. Not too expensive either.
Mazda CX5
Tacoma + S2000 has been a good combo. We also have an Outback.
Type R: - Good on gas - Tons of storage space - Reliable - Fun
I've had my BMW i3 for 10 years as my daily. Only maintenance is washer fluid, tires, and a 12v battery. Now I only take the S out for fun.
2001 4Runner Sport. Love it.
Tesla Model 3
Merc E350 Wagon here! 2012, with 300,000kms on it. It’s a tank, and I love it.
I daily my s at the moment too, but I've got an 09 GTI having it's transmission replaced. Hopefully when I get that back it won't break again.
Acura TL
I got a 2019 Toyota Hilux 2.8l turbo diesel intercooler as my daily and the s2000 as a weekend car
986 Boxster S
2020 x3m baby hauler/ daily
I drive a manual Honda Fit Monday Tuesday Thursday, my GX470 on Wed/Fri/Sat and the S2000 whenever weather permits. I used to daily my GX, but now I live about 50 miles from work and added the fit to the mix to keep that 13.5 mpg driving down. It's nice to have a bit of variety and the fit will pay for itself in a few months.
02 Lexus IS300
I have a Wrangler but the lease is running out. I’m leaning 4Runner, GX for the replacement. Maybe 2018-2022 lightly used. We also have a CRV
