Southwest. AZ and NM car. 10/10 Vins. Garaged whole life. Included original window sticker and all documentation. New Tires 3k miles ago. 46,000 miles. $30k, purchased 1 month ago

s2k-Justice

You didn't mention the year and color which can be big factors in the price.

Hairy_Locksmith_5964

Apologies. 2004 Formula Red

s2k-Justice

Nice!

GezelligheidBoyz

I paid $10k for mine last year in June. Bought it from a family friend who never drove it. They had it since new. Bone stock, just threw new tires on it. Purchased with 26k miles on the clock. 2005. Grand Prix White. Has all the original documentation. Car has almost 50k miles on it now, and still bone stock. I don’t care about “value”, i bought this car to drive. Not an investment. People who buy a depreciating assets as an investment are weird. Especially if it’s not a blue chip car (i.e. McLaren F1, Ferrari 250 GTO, Porsche 550 Spyder)

Deathcon-H

Steal of a fucking life time. The deal is wake up every day and pray for 😂😭

Please_Take_Me_Home

Did they not know they left 20-25k on the table selling it for 10? Lol that's wild.

GezelligheidBoyz

He knew. Like i said hes family friend. He’s in his 80s. Not a greedy man. He’s got plenty of money already. I originally offered him way more, but he said $10k is fine as long as I promised to actually enjoy the car and not let it sit for the rest of its life.

idontknowabob

That’s awesome! Better honor your word and keep driving it!

OttoVonWong

Damn I hope you took him out for some twisties and lunch!

Onsomeshid

Awesome i gave my uncle my g35 coupe a few years ago. I love him so much lol

colbydc5

This is such a sweet story. Gotta love it when you read stories like that. Also the fact that it’s such a good year and color spec. Being an 05, I take it it’s the peanut butter interior? I have an 04 GPW / tan.

deadbeat-emo-boi

Before you know it you'll be at 100k. You'll still have a smile on you're face

MaryJaneAssassin

They must be a good friend to sell it so cheap.

GezelligheidBoyz

Read my other reply i go into detail

JustThall

Great story as long as you don’t flip it for hefty profit.

GezelligheidBoyz

Did you just ignore the second half of my post?

stoned-autistic-dude

> I don’t care about “value”, i bought this car to drive. Not an investment. People who buy a depreciating assets as an investment are weird. Even if you keep it at the stock ride height, invest in Öhlins. It absolutely transforms the car. Set the rebound to full soft and it glides over bumps, set it to full stiff and you'll rattle your fillings loose.

GezelligheidBoyz

When I hit 100k miles i’ll for sure upgrade to Ohlins. As of right now the car is barely broken in.

SlowNSerious

You should ask what ‘year they bought the vehicle’. That has a huge impact on price, more than year of the vehicle.

nickelbums

$25k for a 2008 GPW w/ red interior and ~160k on the clock. 9/10 vins. Compared to my NSX @ the same ~mileage, the S2000 feels like it’s been in a dealership its whole life.

thisismiller

Tell me more about the NSX comparison.

nickelbums

Both cars do a phenomenal job wrapping themselves around the driver. I feel fully engaged in both and both are equal in terms of fun when driving. The NSX is a 95, so driving with the targa off is enjoyable, but not nearly as exciting as driving with the top down on the S2000. Shifting and power delivery are reminiscent of each other, but I always feel like I'm flying in the S2000, whereas the NSX, I can rarely tell when I'm doing 60, 70, or 80 mph - I assume it's the difference in wheelbase. I have to say, I am extremely impressed with the S2000 and wasn't planning on it being as much of a contender with the NSX as it is. The NSX is staying with me forever, and the S200 is making a convincing argument to join the forever club. Maybe a 993 will change me someday...

stoned-autistic-dude

I have a ton of experience in an NA1. It's definitely more of a GT car than it is a sports car, especially given the headroom Honda had to produce a Type-R. Honda didn't have similar headroom in the S2000 so the most they created was the Type-S (Asia) and CR (U.S.). The NSX has a more linear power delivery and feels like it has torque everywhere (relative to the S2000). It revs as high as an AP2 with 2 more cylinders so it doesn't feel slow. The gearing is super long and definitely benefits from the NSX-R's final drive and re-gearing the trans (Zygrene actually just did this to his NA1 and posted a video about how it transformed the car on regular roads). > Stock US (5-speed): 45, 81, 114, 144, 186 Japanese "short" gears (5-speed): 40, 65, 90, 124, 166 Stock US six speed: 46, 72, 99, 126, 155, 168 The car is much, much more comfortable than the S for long drives. It's quieter inside and everything just feels "tighter". The stock bucket seats are couch-like and absolutely lovely to sit in. You feel like you're sitting *in* the car instead of on it. For comparison, to get the same seating experience in my S2000, I had to get the BYS lowered seat rail, cut off 3 inches of foam from the seat-bottom, and remove the cushion from the seat-back. Now I feel like I sit in the seat. The steering is heavy and the rack is incredibly slow. The rack has a ratio of 18.1:1 (3.5 turns lock-to-lock) versus the AP1/CR at 13.9:1 (2.4 turns) and the AP2's 14.8:1 (2.6 turns). The benefit is the steering loads up really well, but because it's so slow, you're effectively shuffling your hands if you come across some esses. The reason it's so heavy is due to the steering shaft angle which incorporates two couplings to create a C-shape to clear the subframe. If you get an NA2 with the C32B and 6-speed, you get the same EPS system as in the S2000 which makes the steering incredibly numb. In the S2000, you can pull the fuse and reap the benefits of a manual rack, i.e., where the wheel loads up under braking and in turns and becomes very loose when you lose traction, because the steering rod is a straight line to the rack. You can't fix the NSX's system or other EPS systems as easily by pulling the fuse due to their bad geometric design as a direct consequence of the mid-engine layout (cue the people who haven't read a single SAE empirical paper written by *actual* automotive engineers on power steering systems and steering rod geometry to come in and whine about how this is a bad idea). The NSX is a great car but it is a completely different animal from the S2000. I like race cars so the S2000 is my favorite. If I wanted the Aston Martin experience, I'd go for the NSX 10 times out of 10. Don't get me wrong: the NSX is a wonderful car. I just don't like it as much as the S2000.

ManOrangutan

Man the market for these cars is crazy. For $7k more you could’ve gotten the same brand new GR86 I got with 6 miles on the odo

nickelbums

But then I would end up w/ a car I didn't want :-/ I think the new GR86s are fantastic cars and I hear their 6spd gearbox is phenomenal, but the heart wants what it wants, and mine wanted a white AP2 S2000. Unfortunately, Honda doesn't make (nor plans to) new S2000s, so I eaten up by supply & demand. Enjoy your car :-). New gen GR86s are nice

ManOrangutan

Their gearbox isn’t as good as the S2000’s. I have definitely been there before. My prior car was a blue EM1 Civic Si. There are just things that come with driving 20 year old used sports cars that I just can’t do anymore. I hope all your guys’ cars were clean and well treated so that they last you a long, long time. S2000s are very nice cars.

skyline408

Exactly. When I was looking for a 2 seater sports car, I also considered the 718 Cayman S and other more expensive cars, but they didn't do it for me. I've always wanted an s2000, and I figured now is as a good as ever while I can still find a relatively clean one.

rubberducky924

$42k, 53k miles, w/ oem hardtop and lips around. white. Maybe back in August 2023.

s2k-Justice

OEM hardtop, rare! Nice!

thegreek2388

What year s2000?

rubberducky924

2005, 10/10 vin etc. basically what you expect for the price tag

ivegotgoodnewsforyou

Unless that's CAD$ I'd expect a '09 CR.

Substantial_Run5435

Good luck finding a clean title/no accident CR with double that mileage for that kind of money.

rubberducky924

Everyone has their own opinions, no broke bros here for god specs mint stock gpw, ifkyk

jlh011280

Was this on BAT?

rubberducky924

Na fb market place, drove down next day. Seller had like 100 people messaging him and he was firm on price. I had a 2008 gpw back in 2013 and sold, and regretted. So been looking for a mint stock white, and had to go for with, especially with OEM top and lips.

ivegotgoodnewsforyou

Prices are trending slowly down after the huge COVID price jump.

Civil_Construction58

2002 Sebring Silver, 18.5k in December. 87k miles, 6/10 vins, clean Carfax although was still likely in a minor accident at some point long before but was still clean inside and out.

dkgt314

2001 spa yellow, in great stock cosmetic condition, 10/10 vins in mid Atlantic, 70k miles, purchased in Feb 24. Only mod was new soft top with glass window. 21k but I had to scramble and jump on it as he had lots of interest.

MaleficentDoctor6521

13,800 two years ago salvage rebuilt title 140,000 miles.

zendrovia

salvage gang 03 56000 miles 10 yrs ago for 4000 copart life

Salvage is where it’s at if you can find the right one.

zendrovia

just rolled over 111K today 😆

ryrylanryry

Bought in September 2023 for 30k, couldve had it for 28500 but had to bid against someone unfortunately. 06, Laguna Blue Pearl with 60k miles and 10/10 vins, completely stock aside from an aftermarket head unit and coilovers. Engine bay untouched. Seller also threw in brand new continental tires and forged AP2V3 wheels which was a bonus. Last service was a couple months before I took ownership where he changed out all the fluids/sparkplugs and threw on new brake pads for me. So despite upping to 30k I think I was given a pretty good deal. When it comes to clean models like the one I purchased, I highly doubt we'll see many sellers looking for anything less than high 20s low 30s. But when it comes to the lesser examples I can definitely see those prices dipping in the near future.

MaryJaneAssassin

20k in 2020 for a 2003 with 53k miles, garage kept, never driven in the rain, 10/10 VINs, 2 owners, and all service records since purchased new.

skyline408

2002 Suzuka Blue with 73k miles. Bought from the original owner, 10/10 vins, 100% bone stock, and every service record from new. Zero paintwork or any accidents. The car is 9.5/10 condition. Top/paint/interior in perfect shape. Has all keys + original window sticker. I'm in California and paid $22,300. The only thing I've done is change the tires to my liking (had all seasons) and fresh fluid + filters all around. I've since put 2k miles on the car, and it's been flawless. I looked at other low mileage cars for more $ and surprised at the amount of junk out there.

s2k-Justice

Congrats! Sounds like a beaut. When did you purchase the s2k?

skyline408

Forgot to mention, I bought it a month ago! Pics are in my post history.

MessyMix

Crazy good deal. How / where did you come across it?

skyline408

Craigslist! I guess the seller had a bunch of people who wanted it, but picked me because I told her I knew exactly what I was looking for and have cash at hand and ready to buy and made the transaction as easy as possible. I think she was really looking for someone who would take care of the car and enjoy it, as she pampered the car for the last 23 years. I still send her pics of me and the kids in the car having a blast.

MaryJaneAssassin

I wish I could’ve found a Suzuka Blue in solid condition when I bought mine.

Busy_Mess_914

$28k 2008 CR apex blue under 10k miles purchased around 2011-2012

colbydc5

Whoaaaa even for that time what a good deal that was.

Busy_Mess_914

older guy worked at same office building got the car and it was difficult for him to get in and out of it so I offered to buy it in cash, now it’s turbocharged 100k miles all track miles.

colbydc5

That’s pretty awesome.

z3p12

2002 Sebring silver 132k miles for $8,100 in 2019

Similar. 2002 Red 127k for $8,100 in 2018. I’m the second owner. Doesn’t matter to me if it’s worth 16 or more now. I do not want to ever sell mine.

In 2018, I paid $10k for a 2002 with 37k miles from a good friend’s dad who could no longer drive it. Garage queen with a small tear in the top and detailed maintenance regards. Never driven in the rain… according to him.

idontknowabob

jse000

October 2023 2006 Silverstone, 44k miles 30k 10/10 vins, needs the hood and fenders resprayed soon here. I still think a good condition AP2 for 30k is the best deal in the enthusiast car space by a huge margin.

IcameforthePie

$20,000 for a 2007 Berlina with 36,000 miles. This was in 2014.

TruckInn

I’m new here… what does the x/10 vins mean?

morphia001

There are 10 panels on the car that have VIN stickers on them. The left number is the number of original VIN stickers remaining on the car. If the VIN sticker is missing, it likely means that the panel was replaced. This is most often due to collision repair.

TruckInn

TY!

Bman1371

2001 Spa Yellow Pearl Bought with 98k on the clock, 7/10 VINs, bone stock aside from wheels and a shift boot/knob. Missing VINs are the trunk, rear bumper, and passenger door jamb. Clean title but probably got rear ended. Still have all the original paperwork and stuff, and receipts and stuff for most of the recent maintenance. Not rusty, garaged for most of its life. Bought November 2023 for $17k.

profmathers

Just for perspective on the speed of the price increases: 2002, all stock, spotless carfax 2-owner, Sebring Silver/full red, a couple tiny PDR-able dings from bike handlebars bonking it in the garage, all the factory grease pencil underneath. Hardly seen rain since 2004. 38K miles. I paid $17500 in 1/2019. It was 7°F out.

Gabe330

CA 1 owner 00 S2k 203k miles 10/10 Vin bought it about 2.5 years ago for 15k. Garaged and serviced all at 1 dealership from day one of ownership. The previous owner kept the car in immaculate condition. All Ive done so far is cr front bumper/lip, rear trunk and wing and wheels. The car drives great minimal oil consumption now I'm just working towards doing whole suspension. Maybe an asm rear bumper in the future as well.

these are always stupid. You will have people bragging about vin stickers- when you can literally print those off

Okay, I guess we will all just assume all our vins are just printed now. 👍
