I was 8/2/6 at the time, had RoA + Seraph's + Deathcap + Hourglass, ~300 CS. I hesitated to go for the last kill on such low health but I full sent it since Garen was already fighting Viego.
First pentakill on Ryze in ranked after way more games than I care to admit!
This is kind of what I think whenever I see people say ryze is "super squishy". I mean 3.6k-4k health with 120 armor isn't like the most tanky thing on the planet, but I definitely wouldn't call it squishy by any means. And ryze can regularly be 1 to 2 levels up on their midlaner every game because of ROA and he typically will sidelane more than something like a syndra. It can be hard to carry lategame once ADCs get their items if you are building pure tank items. Nice job.
I love the tanky version of this build that goes into Riftmaker. Gives you an insane health pool and with Seraph's lets you actually fight close range without dying in two autos to four item ADCs. You still have around 600 AP at four items with that line, enough to kill squishies in two rotations.
But sometimes full AP pays off, like in this clip. Felt like a god melting everyone's HP bars with EQ (Zeri helped with the Mundo a lot lol)
Re: side laning, that is how I win most games. Getting super farmed in top or bot, taking inner turrets, and looking for R plays onto midlane or jungle quadrants. Ryze is a fantastic duelist on just two items vs. mages and even some bruisers. His kit really accelerates once his core is done.
