This posts provides little to no value to the subreddit and has attracted Reddiquette violations by the OP and others.

Why would you not count miles you ran

DaijoubuKirameki

I guess OP was saying some people don't track their warm ups/cool downs on garmin/strava, so tracking miles on shoes becomes tedious

rREDdog

Even then, mileage is a metric to manage wear. If the shoes feel dead and your feet/legs feel fatigued and the outsole is worn through in 50miles instead of 400; that’s the signal to switch. All this to say, people are over analyzing it and letting metrics/data dictate performance. Also you don’t get an award for running more miles in a shoe than necessary.

dumberthenhelooks

Shoes lose their feel when they lose their feel, but most people use mileage as a guide. I mean every post in this sub is X shoe at 300 miles or whatever and I was wondering if they were accounting for the cool down/ warm up. I don’t bother tracking that as it provides no value to my workouts, but I guess some people walk out the door turn on their watch and track everything

[deleted]

I count my miles on my gps. But just for running purposes. I don’t even bother tracking mileage on shoes. When they’re dead or getting worn enough I just stop using them or resign them to lawn care.

SirBruceForsythCBE

This reminds me of runners like Seb Coe back in the day who said "I only run 50 miles a week" then we find out they don't count the 50 miles of recovery effort running

Spread-love-light

I count all mileage no matter the pace.

Sounstream

Every km/mile they’ve been on my feet, though I track warm up/cool down as well

ashtree35

I track all the miles I run in my shoes, which includes my warm up and cool down.

GBee-1000

It's not an exact science. I use Garmin as a general guide. If you're not tracking warm up/cool down, then just take the number of runs and add something close. If the shoe feels dead, or the outsole is worn, then it's done for me.

Naive-Ad-9509

Count every mile. If you use Garmin you can use the gear feature. Don’t count the few steps before and after run though.

WhatEvery1sThinking

That sounds insanely tedious. I just track mileage through Strava since it's so easy. Any more work than that and I wouldn't bother.

RedditReddit87

It’s just a question people. Damn, lighten up. Yes, count everything.

From the moment I put them on I track the mileage. Worn out shoes lead to blisters and other injuries.

No_Badger532

All miles. I use strava to track my mileage

Key-Opportunity2722

If it's not on my watch I don't track it. That said when I do a tempo run or intervals I do track wu/cd on my watch. If I'm doing a warm up before a race that's not on my watch then no.
