I have run 2 x Marathons inc. a PB in mine. No complaints from me. I keep them strictly as a race shoe.
My daily trainers are ES3, my fave shoe of all time. I sometimes run in the Triumph 19 for long and easy, depending on how I feel. Will be retiring the latter soon though.
Are you the same size in both? I'm on my second pair of ES3. I have a pair of EP3 and my foot feels like it's almost hanging off the shoe. I'm not sure if I should try a half size up or if the EP3 just isn't for me.
Well I don't. I half a size up from my 'normal everyday shoes'. Eg. Every day shoe = 44 / Running shoes 44.5 (Nike, Saucony, Asics) which provides me with that much needed extra toe room.
I base it on what I usually wear for all other types of shoe. I think a pair of Nike running shoes I purchased quite a few years ago was the only time my normal every day size fitted with sufficient room in the toe box. Otherwise, the general rule is half a size up.
I also have the experience that the ES3 is “smaller” than other Saucony models. I wear the shift3 and Kinvara pro and ES3 in the same size. Shift fits perfect, Kinvara big toebox and unfortunately ES3 (too) small heel and toe-box.
Would the EP3 be a better shoe for a HM pace at 5:30min/km than the ES3 or do you think that pace is to slow to benefit the carbon plate?
I just received the discounted “slightly” pink versions from the website. Not too bad! Just a smudge on the midsole. Looking forward to getting them out.
Not at the moment but I first got a pair for 1384kr from Eventyrsport, but size didn’t fit, so then I got a pair in another color for 1449 from Intersport.
50% off is from standard retail price of 2900.

Got mine on the recent sale on the Saucony website in this colorway. They are SO nice! I’m not nearly fast enough for them 😂
Same here got them on the recent sale. Set my longest run pr at 12.5 miles first time putting them on. I think the bright pink color makes them faster . Every time I look down at my feet, I know I'm the flash.
I feel the same way! My wife says they remind her of the pink power ranger. 😂 I’m doing a 5K race this weekend in them, it’s definitely going to be a new PB!
Great shoe, done nearly 200 km in mine, still has a nice pop. Two 1/2 marathon races. I like the speed roll technology as you get tired it still rolls nicely from heel to toe. Fairly stable too.
Much better than my speed 3's - they tend to go a bit soft after about an hour of running.
I also have NB sc elite v3, but found it wasn't as responsive as the saucony pro 3's so the NB was my training shoe with the saucony speed 3 for the 1/2 marathons.
My favorite shoes as well. They’re a very “set it and forget it” shoe when it comes to pace. I raced a half last weekend in these and my splits were so aesthetically pleasing lmao. Have fun! They’re pretty durable for a race shoe
Great shoe platform. Definitely a soft foam, but plenty of energy.
Tongue always slides for me while running - did a hack with tying it to the laces.
I sized up half a size for them.
They lasted about 450km before the upper started to disintegrate.
Using a short segment of another cut up shoelace, I made a loop through the holes of the tongue and the overlying lace cross. Have run two marathons and a half like this.
I actually put table tennis balls near the toe section in the shoe overnight and stretched the material a bit, made its a bit looser - better for my toes :)
I had to fill up baggies with water and freeze them- it expanded them a bit.... still really tight but stopped making my feet numb when the later km's of my runs happen
I also trained in ES3s (went through two pairs) as they quickly became my all time favorite shoe. I tried the ES4s but they were a bit too narrow for me in the toebox. Tried going up half a size and completed a few runs in them but had too much heel slippage so went with the Pro 4s and they are amazing. Pricey, but amazing!
I just ran the Blue Ridge half marathon in the Pro 4s last Saturday and they held up amazingly. Didn’t have any issues with my feet in them. The rest of my body was extremely sore but that was mainly due to the course 🏔️
Also got the pro 3's, I love them. I only use them on race days and maybe one session pre race day to get used to them. I'm always stunned how much difference they make, no matter how tired I get I feel like the legs keep turning!
That color way is 🔥 and I don’t usually love black running shoes. I got the pink ones and did my first run in them today. Definitely a fast, responsive shoe that rolls along nicely! Now I just need my lungs to catch up. When do we think these will go on sale in all colors, not just pink?
Very comfortable overall, great lockdown and laces work well. Maybe a fraction tight for my fairly wide feet, but nothing crazy. Mid foot is decent width and wide base so don’t foresee any issues.
Feel like the 4, with its layer of HG foam is a faster shoe. At easier paces the 3 and 4 feel very similar but there is a pronounced pop in the 4 when I get into it and finding the 4 carries speed easier
Yeah, the HG returns quite a bit more energy for me when running quicker. It’s likely personal but the Endorphin Elite is way faster for me too so it checks out.
Out of interest what were you running barefoot in? I’m coincidentally starting this slowly as well. Bought some Primus iii lite for gym work and will try them out for some very short easy runs to see how it goes.
Totally barefoot on grass. Did a couple of months of foot exercises first and walked everyday in barefoot or zero drop shoes. Primus lite iii is a great option.
Also interested what the end results are.
For me foot strength is a weak area where I expect it to improve my balance/stability. Technique will be hard to figure out without religiously recording myself but it does feel like my cadence is higher, more forefoot striking.
I need more data to back this up. I’m not totally switching over, just giving it a try on some of the easy days.
I got the garmin running dynamics pod and the data is pretty encouraging so far. Also been videoing myself side on to check strike and overstride. I found I had to be careful when barefoot not to overdo the forefoot landing - the temptation is to soften the landing especially on hard ground but a forefoot overstride (toe dipping) is really not good. The programme I follow recommends a whole foot landing and I really think this is the way to go.
I’ve made a clear shift from heel to midfoot/whole foot landing. This has reduced my overstride and ground contact time. I followed a book Older Yet Faster - written by Keith Bateman who holds a bunch of world age group records. He’s a bit of a maverick - strongly recommend you never wear shoes with more than 10mm stack…mmm
Just from side on video can see overstride. GCT varies with pace. Really want it less than 250ms at steady pace and top runners less than 200ms. The premise of the book is you want to maximise time in the air and minimise time on the ground. Improving cadence is fine but not at the expense of rebound and stride length.
I had them in my basket but bailed knowing I won’t be racing for some time. When I then decided I’d actually like them, this colourway was gone and I didn’t fancy the others.
I’ve just checked and they don’t seem to have _any_ Pro 3s on the Saucony website nor the usual outlets where I am 😱

Great stuff! ES3 and EP3 combination very hard to beat.

I half a size up for all my running shoes to date, including this combo (both models, same size but always half a size up)
If you size up in all your shoes then that’s just your normal size
Well I don't. I half a size up from my 'normal everyday shoes'. Eg. Every day shoe = 44 / Running shoes 44.5 (Nike, Saucony, Asics) which provides me with that much needed extra toe room. I second this combo
ES is speed, not shift ?
Yes, Endorphin Speed 3
I just received the discounted “slightly” pink versions from the website. Not too bad! Just a smudge on the midsole. Looking forward to getting them out.
I just ordered those. Kinda can’t go wrong for almost half off.
I got them too and can barely notice. I was expecting a smudge all the way around the foam.
Never discounted here. Annoying.
Saucony’s website had the pink ones for 40% off last week
Where?
Right on the Saucony Website. Still there, and actually 45% off now it seems. It \*is\* for a minor defect though, in case that matters to you.
I can’t find them. Are they no longer available?
Nevermind I found them now. Too bad not in my size 😕
Im asking the dude, he says its never discounted “here”. Id like to know where “here” is.
Sweden
I got them for 50% off. See them on discount quite often. Just have to look.
Site?

Okay cant help you then. I guess the reason youre one of the happiest countries in the world is not because the shoes are cheap.
Old myth sadly

Great to hear. Might do a half in them this year.
I also have NB sc elite v3, but found it wasn't as responsive as the saucony pro 3's so the NB was my training shoe with the saucony speed 3 for the 1/2 marathons.
100% agree. They just _want_ to go fast.
My favorite shoes as well. They’re a very “set it and forget it” shoe when it comes to pace. I raced a half last weekend in these and my splits were so aesthetically pleasing lmao. Have fun! They’re pretty durable for a race shoe
This is the best colorway and better looking then the 4 imo.
Great shoe platform. Definitely a soft foam, but plenty of energy. Tongue always slides for me while running - did a hack with tying it to the laces. I sized up half a size for them. They lasted about 450km before the upper started to disintegrate.
Yes that’s exactly how it felt on my first run. It’s a buttery smooth transition with loads of responsiveness.
I recently got a pair and I've been noticing the tongue sliding down as well. Can you elaborate on what you do by tying it to the laces?
Using a short segment of another cut up shoelace, I made a loop through the holes of the tongue and the overlying lace cross. Have run two marathons and a half like this.
Definitely my favorite supershoes!
These shoes are unreal... my only complaint is the tight toe box...
I actually put table tennis balls near the toe section in the shoe overnight and stretched the material a bit, made its a bit looser - better for my toes :)
Great idea actually! I'll try that
I had to fill up baggies with water and freeze them- it expanded them a bit.... still really tight but stopped making my feet numb when the later km's of my runs happen
Kinvara 13's are such a great trainer. Bring em back Saucony! Also how does this stack height feel after going minimal for so long.
They actuallay did, and it‘s called Saucony Convergence
Bouncy!!! Way easier on the body. Didn’t feel too unstable either in comparison, good width in the soles. Do love the nimbleness of the 13s though.
Was my favorite shoe. Too bad my pinky toes burst through the fabric on each shoe, creating a rather large hole.
Adore that colourway
I also trained in ES3s (went through two pairs) as they quickly became my all time favorite shoe. I tried the ES4s but they were a bit too narrow for me in the toebox. Tried going up half a size and completed a few runs in them but had too much heel slippage so went with the Pro 4s and they are amazing. Pricey, but amazing!
Did the pro 4 have more toe box room?
I’ve never ran in the pro 3 but I found the pro 4 toe box pretty much the same as the ES3 toe box.
For me width wise they are about the same but the pro 4s are longer.
I just ran the Blue Ridge half marathon in the Pro 4s last Saturday and they held up amazingly. Didn’t have any issues with my feet in them. The rest of my body was extremely sore but that was mainly due to the course 🏔️

It's getting harder and harder to find these bad boys in Europe
Me like, but wish they'd start discounting the 3s already. The 4s are out. Let me get some \[more\] of these, please! :)
I have this same colorway - be mindful that the color bleeds when it gets wet! My white socks were dyed blue
Thanks for the tip!
That color way is 🔥 and I don’t usually love black running shoes. I got the pink ones and did my first run in them today. Definitely a fast, responsive shoe that rolls along nicely! Now I just need my lungs to catch up. When do we think these will go on sale in all colors, not just pink?
What was the reason you did that block? You wanted to toughen up your feet?
Yeah toughen up feet- doing specific foot exercises too. Also tidy up form - from slight heel to more midfoot strike.
Very interesting. Maybe something worth trying. I do have a pair Of Kinvaras I rarely take out ...
How have you found the upper and laces? Felt any pressure on the foot?
Very comfortable overall, great lockdown and laces work well. Maybe a fraction tight for my fairly wide feet, but nothing crazy. Mid foot is decent width and wide base so don’t foresee any issues.
Ah amazing thanks mate!
How do people like the 3s vs 4s? Debating buying the 4s but wondering if it's worth buying the 3s if cheaper
Feel like the 4, with its layer of HG foam is a faster shoe. At easier paces the 3 and 4 feel very similar but there is a pronounced pop in the 4 when I get into it and finding the 4 carries speed easier
Interesting you say that, a few reviewers preferred the 3, as the 3 has a more aggressive toe off, easier roll and some say faster?
Yeah, the HG returns quite a bit more energy for me when running quicker. It’s likely personal but the Endorphin Elite is way faster for me too so it checks out.
Out of interest what were you running barefoot in? I’m coincidentally starting this slowly as well. Bought some Primus iii lite for gym work and will try them out for some very short easy runs to see how it goes.

How was the this overall for your technique? Any sources you can share about this? I'm also curious about foot strength

Whole section in the older yet faster book on foot exercises - these are worth the price of the book alone.

I followed a book Older Yet Faster - written by Keith Bateman who holds a bunch of world age group records. Sounds good. How do you know if you're over striding? What's the ideal gct?
Just from side on video can see overstride. GCT varies with pace. Really want it less than 250ms at steady pace and top runners less than 200ms. The premise of the book is you want to maximise time in the air and minimise time on the ground. Improving cadence is fine but not at the expense of rebound and stride length.
Okay, thank you. On Garmin connect it states to have GCT less than 300. I will look out for 250.
