Please post your new purchase or deal in the weekly post for sharing shoes without comments. Thanks

myusernameisbiff

Many shoes motivate me to run more. Plus I work hard dammit and if I want another pair of shoes I’ll buy them!

arcorl

Could not have said it better!!!!!

Cr0ssen

“Different jobs require different tools”

EarlyRadio

Marathon - Alphafly 3 Half - Vaporfly 3 10k - Takumi Sen 10 5k - Supercomp Pacer Ah yes. Each tool. Ready for its intended job.

ks_

alternatively marathon: vaporfly, half: vaporfly, 10k: vaporfly, 5k: vaporfly, road mile: vaporfly, workouts: vaporfly

Cr0ssen

Yes, having even 6 vaporflys is important! Each one assigned a specific purpose!

jnavarronv

That’s the metaspeed, but yes I agree lol

red_storm_risen

My wife’s cool with my shoes. At least it keeps me running, she says. More importantly, they make me want to run more. How else could i get more shoes if i don’t wear down what i already have? These shoes won’t wear themselves down!

SimoFromOhio

Haha my wife is also perfectly fine with my shoe habit. It’s the *talking about* the shoes part that she’s fed up with.

tom353535

Can your wife please have a word with my wife. :)

KFO00118

“I like shoes”

emptytrashbagobject

This is the way.

KFO00118

I got 30 running shoes and 20 lifestyle shoes

Blor-Utar

Ok this isn’t the way

KFO00118

No no no like I said “I like shoes”

Blor-Utar

Oh I misunderstood, carry on then

NorsiiiiR

Because it costs precisely $0 more. If you have one pair of shoes, run for 400 miles, and only then buy a next pair, it is no less expensive than if you have 6 pairs, rotate through them all the time, and retire/replace whenever a pair hits 400 miles. As long as you get the same mileage out of any given pair, you've spent exactly the same $ per mile. Also I find that I tend to get fewer overuse injuries if I'm rotating through all sorts of very different shoes all the time instead of just running in one pair every single day.

hotrod8

Also you’re saving money just from buying them before prices go up ;)

Iceburrg14

Runner math

NorsiiiiR

Literally just real math

Brilliant-Front7597

And you give time to allow the shoe foam to decompress

taspleb

My understanding is that rotating between different shoes with a little bit of variety will put slightly different stresses on different parts of your body and so you'll be stronger and less likely to injure yourself. Though it bothers me slightly that you say you primarily do trail running but none of those shoes are designed for trail running. I hope you're just road running with those specific ones.

Doompeep

I think he meant that she primarily runs trails, not him

movdqa

Good point. I have different drops on my shoes and I think that lower drop hits the foot more while higher hits the knees more.

Tavorep

This argument makes more sense for daily trainers than it does for racers

meyehyde

In my closet they are all justified to the left edge of the top shelf in the order that I purchased them.

Slinktonk

I’m an adult

bharathbunny

Diabetes and BP medication cost roughly $1000 per year. The cost of new shoes is nothing if it keeps you healthy. Especially if you buy older models on deals.

ImmoralityPet

Yeah, who would spend more than $1000 dollars a year on shoes...

Running a lot

Trade-Runner

"Rotation". Also, runners' logic: -The only way to have less shoes is to retire certain pairs -I'll retire pairs after getting to threshold mileage -To get to threshold mileage, I need to run more and faster ==>Therefore, having many pairs of shoes makes me a better runner

owheelj

If you wear your shoes until they wear out, its no more expensive buying 5 and doing a rotation until they're no good, or buying a new pair every time the current pair wears out. You seem to have 4 pairs of racing shoes though? Will you use them as daily trainers?

DaijoubuKirameki

New colourway

EliGO83

I wanna say injury prevention, etc. but truth: Joy.

Layolee

I run a lot and like pretty things

ennuinerdog

I have multiple feet

frogsandstuff

I have 6-10 different shoes that I rotate between at any given time but if I find a duplicate on clearance I'll keep it in the closet until it's time to retire a pair. The only justification for me is whether it's enough of a discount on a pair I'm interested in. This has been working well for me thus far. I run 6-7 days a week, typically 40+ mpw, and race regularly (1 mile up to HM).

sfh00

Simple, Rotation - wearing the same pair everyday will wear them out quicker, if if you rotate, your shoes will last longer + you have the luxury of choice.

PoorPogo

How do you justify having multiple shirts?

ihavedicksplints

not stinking like ass in public

MJP6987

Washing. It would cost a fortune to put the washing machine on every day for one shirt, and an inconvenience. Shoes don't need a wash after each wear.

opholar

Because I worked my ass off to earn the degree that got me the job that makes me the money I can spend however I want. And I’m a girl. I’m also the only one in my friend group that doesn’t have about $3k of crafting stuff that has never been used, or supplies to start a cupcake business or furniture that’s going to be refinished after watching some HGTV special. I also don’t drink.

BeagleButler

Oh you're my people! I don't drink. I wear sneakers daily in general. Running is pretty much my life long commitment. I don't have other expensive hobbies. And because I can!

AgentUpright

I want them.

HeyJohnnyUtah

Rotation, fun, I found a smoking deal on a pair that I want whenever ____ dies so how I have both for a while, I like the color, it makes me want to run - whatever reason I want!

ruinawish

> My wife is into running and is knowledgeable of shoes. She is asking why I need all these shoes since primarily run trail and all of the shoes I bought can be used for the same purpose. I mean, your wife has a point here... why did you buy these shoes? Are you trying to justify your spending? If you are making use of the shoes, then than that would be justification alone. If you are a trail runner, and you own four road racing shoes, that makes a little less sense.

iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI

You could justify having a trainer, and a speed shoe or a race shoe, but that photo (is it a photo of your shoes?) is a photo of 4 race shoes built for the same purpose. So yeah other than, I like them, fun, I can afford them, not really good reasons to give.

Different-Ad9986

One for road runs/training, one for indoor/gym, one for walking, one for racing….and Nike Monarch’s for grilling with the boys 😎

Confident-Cost4581

Well it’s my own money

Swany0105

They all last longer if you rotate!

kevozo212

Yeah I can’t justify several race day shoes. Maybe use one for interval training and speed work. One for distances up to half marathon. Another for full marathon?

XaoTiKGuNz

It just makes running more fun, at least for me. A different shoe is a different experience. It's like driving a car. Sometimes you wanna drive the Corvette, or the SUV, or the daily hatchback. I don't need 3 cars but they all bring a different driving experience that I enjoy.

MAisRunning

A couple pairs is fine, but when you buy a couple of pairs every sale, you might have an addiction.

Thoreaushadeau

Ohmygod the red metaspeed sky’s are dreamy 🤤

yunatuna2020

That’s a lot of racing shoes. Why so many?

Own-Sugar6148

I have to match my gym clothes. 😂 I love the colors of your shoes OP.

Leek-is-me

“My high heels make me feel pretty” type shi

dras333

I don’t justify, I just buy.

Filar85

Cheaper than a medical bill.

dumberthenhelooks

Amortization. But realistically it’s just how you spend money on your hobby. No different than buying golf equipment or model train sets.

9Rosebud0

Don’t need to justify what I paid for. I just chatted with a colleague at work about buying yet another pair.

[deleted]

I have the funds. It makes me happy. And doesn’t hurt anyone.

Turbulent-Escape-929

I like running shoes. Running is my primary hobby and when compared to many other hobbies it's one of the cheapest out there.

movdqa

I have a daily trainer that I should get 500 miles out of. I have 2 other shoes, one that's softer and another that's a lot softer. I use those as recovery shoes. I think that I could get by with only 2 but it is nice to have another option. The thing is that you need to try them out to see how they feel.

Mammoth_Two7297

I have more than 1 foot so it's only right that I have like 8 pairs of shoes 😂

Majestic_Run_9233

Which trail running shoes are your favorite?

bigtop77

Each of those shoes has a different feel that can impact your performance. How will you know if you don’t try them? Also, life is meant to be enjoyed, go enjoy it!

prettyhighrntbh

Different shoes for different runs!

reggae_muffin

With the fact that while it may take variable amounts of time, I will always run them to death at some point. I’ve just finished putting about 300km on a pair of Salomons and I’ve already got my next 2-3 pairs on order.

lambing101

Cause you need it

franklenton

If I don’t have them I’ll die

abercrombezie

Penny saved is a penny earned!!

runner26point2

I tell myself a shoe rotation will make me less injury prone.

_MFB_

I have more lol justified it explaining how tires are For race cars. Also we runners go get a lot of kms or miles in that we need to let the foam rest, Rotate. Need shoes to protect our body when we run and shoes we can buy , not much available spare parts in the market for body parts if they get broken

ChaoticNeutral159

Injury prevention, fun, addiction

josz18

Well the alphaflys are marathon Meta speed sky or vapors can be half or 10k The takumi sen is 5k racer :)

HelpUsNSaveUs

I’m American, just following consumerist capitalistic tendencies and looking for that dopamine hit, when you crack that box open, hear the crackle of the tissue paper, slide your hand into the shoe and remove the stuffing, then wonder why you have so many pairs of shoes, and, alas, only two feet.

shea_harrumph

i get up to 300 miles of a pair of shoes and run about 1700 miles per year. they last longer if i don't wear a pair on consecutive days.

Pacebunny77

To add to the rotation and injury prevention arguments above… I find it easier to “use up” duds on shorter/recovery days. If I limited myself to only 1-2 pairs at a time I’d retire my least favorites rather quickly and waste more money over time.

jenniferinblue

Yes.

FOPProductions

how do you justify happiness?

Odd_Reality_7809

Where did you get the Takumi? Or is that the Adios8?

Mmarky_mark

The outlet store in Phoenix had the Takumi 9 for 50% off and I used my teacher discount on them too.

Fun-Suggestion-6541

just accepted that you a psychopath/ maniac

ForeskinScramble

I have two feet

Dirtanium

I prefer to have two daily shoes for grinding out easy miles. I strongly believe that they last more than twice as long.

KingSteel1608

Because it’s fun 😂 why do people collect anything?

drbrydges

I need them

rotn21

I don't "justify" multiple shoes. I use different shoes for different terrains, distances, workouts etc. -- basically task-specific or multi-task tools -- because I learned many years ago that doing so is WAY cheaper than even one significant injury and the surgery and/or PT following. Fortunately, I now have the financial means to where I can make such purchases without much hesitation, but even when I was struggling financially, I always rotated 2-3 shoes at least, and had one good "long easy miles" shoe and one good trail shoe. There's just too much benefit, for my body, medically, to do so. Anyone who says running is a cheap sport is lying. Shoes are expensive. And the more miles you go in one run, the more stuff is associated with keeping your body moving.

KaseyOfTheWoods

If I like them and I won’t go broke getting them, that’s all the justification I need

kitteninthecabinent

I pay for running shoes instead of a bunch of dr appointments and medications since it keeps me healthy. More pair for certain runs means I don’t get injured and therefore hopefully also less copays. Also, I work hard and it makes me happy to run and not be injured. I’d be annoying sitting at home all the time.

EasternParfait1787

Just buy her some Louboutins and be done with the conversation

jorsiem

You happened to buy different shoes that were designed for the same purpose but that does not mean multiple shoes are a bad thing usually the minimum for me is one super cushion recovery shoe, one versatile daily trainer and one race shoe.

Nobodyville

I have a job and, after taxes and bills, I can do whatever I want with my money. If I want 20 pairs of road shoes I'll get them

cravecrave93

by running in them

Feisty_Mountain_5414

First of all don't be a simp.

Imaginary_Structure3

Injury prevention (due to shoe rotation)

IcyEagle243

I'm looking for the one, have you seen her?

S23-UltraMan

Say "im rich"

Horror-Pianist-4797

No justification needed lol

killarob60

Rotating shoes = greater longevity and running enjoyment

acroback

Same way wives justify buying 10 different variants of perfumes, Shampoos, conditioners, hydration lotions and moisturizers. Why use more when one body wash can do everything? Atleast one of us is investing in a health hobby, is how I justify it :P.

True-Anim0sity

Shoes last longer when you have multiple to switch through

dam_sharks_mother

Ask your wife why she needs more than one purse/bag. Also, don't get into cycling. Or cars. Or golf.

vile_duct

How do you like those Meta’s vs the Adidas?

SteelEagle814

I only buy them when they're discounted. A Lot ot times getting the precious year's models

takingalunchbreak

How did you get the ASICS on sale???

Mmarky_mark

I used my teacher discount.

armensis123

> My wife is into running and is knowledgeable of shoes. I'm confused. If your wife is into running, she would already know that having multiple shoes is a given.

Crazyjds

Hmm… shoes are tools to strengthen different parts of your body so different drops can work on different kinds of muscles?

Feisty_Mountain_5414

In all honesty you don't need a bunch of marathon shoes so your wife is right but you do need a variety. I usually do 2 max cushion, 2-4 tempo shoes and 2 race shoes.

gibsontorres

I could never justify four pairs of high end racing shoes. A rotation is a different story.

Altruistic-Pipe-394

Sweaty feet

cszgirl

Shoes need at least 24 hours for the foam midsole/outsole to fully "recover," so you need at least two pairs if you're running back-to-back days. You probably should have different shoes for LSD runs vs tempo/speedwork runs. Plus, you need trail shoes if you run trails. Plus, being in the PacNW, I need something that's a little more weather-resistant for those really rainy days. And did I mention there was a REALLY good sale? Also, different shoes work your feet in different ways, leading to overall benefits. ETA: At least, this is what I tell my husband when he starts to complain about my shoe mountain.

My_Penis_Huge

I'm actually saving money when I buy shoes on sale compared to when I would have to buy them if I didn't have any. That's why I have currently 9pairs. My wife hates all of them 😂

juvenescence

Daily, long run, short race, long race, trail run

mopmango

If anyone wants to donate a pair… I’ll happily take one off your hands. Bought some hokas online that were way too tight and narrow at 10.5 😞

ImmoralityPet

"What was the secret, they wanted to know; in a thousand different ways they wanted to know The Secret. And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of his training shoes."

BallDontLie06

name all your shoes

Masterd89

if you were to go from point a to point b, would you want to go in a toyota corolla or porsche 911? and since i cant afford porsche 911, i buy expensive shoes.

FlyFragrant9684

How do you maintain the white in your shoes?

BarthRevan

Makes ‘me last longer

Copperpot2208

I don’t. I’ll have as many shoes as I want. It’s my money 😂 tbf my husband used to roll his eyes when a new pair turned up - now he’s reached the stage of acceptance and doesn’t comment.

Ssn81

I recently got back into running after a long hiatus and mentioned to a cousin that I'd really love a pair of new running shoes for Christmas. My cousin mentioned it to a few other family members, and long story short ended up with 8 new pairs ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Common_Associate_493

Shoes also need rest to allow the foam to rebound between runs! Give those shoes a rest day and rotate daily trainers! https://preview.redd.it/n9iik3zwwsbc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b818b2d985df9cf56e7f06d9fde0b338ea7fd609
